1881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trust in cryptocurrency? on: March 14, 2023, 08:28:50 AM
Around my environment, its just a few youths knows about cryptocurrency and the few that knows only hears about bitcoin. I think the main reason behind many people not knowing is because most nations have fought cryptocurrency against taking out the fiat banks, so they refused making it legal tender for more publications.
some countries do prohibit the use of Bitcoin as a means of payment. but most legalize the ownership of Bitcoin assets as Investment. more countries have finally opened their minds to the assets that have grown so fast in recent years.
I think young people will be more interested in Bitcoin than in putting their money in the bank. young people nowadays buy more stocks and they are quite open to trading digital assets. it's just that, not much education is provided for young people who are interested in Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

You're probably right about this, there's not much crypto education available to young people these days. In my country, bitcoin is not used as a payment method but can be used as an investment. But honestly, the number of people who know about crypto is too small and have distorted thoughts.

2 days ago, I talked to a friend, he is a real estate buyer, and he doesn't believe in bitcoin at all, he said this is a Ponzi scheme and advised me not to participate. He doesn't know I invest in bitcoin and always says I should stay away from bitcoin. Because we are at a cafe in a public place, so I don't say much because I don't like too many people who know I invest in bitcoin. I made an appointment with him when I was free so that we could talk more about the matter.
1882  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: he/they roasted us? on: March 13, 2023, 02:01:31 AM
I think he is wrong, or he doesn't know much about bitcoin,
is it true that "abusing the users of other coins and thinking bitcoin is supreme. They seriously belive there will only be 1 cryptocurrency." ?
maybe yes because they only own bitcoin as a cryptocurrency asset and don't have anything altcoin to compare it, and maybe wrong because they don't know if cryptocurrencies, like bitcoin, eth, bnb and others are support from each other. so that case, bitcoin can't stand for himself, bitcoin need altcoin as a pole and as a symbiotic relationship of mutualisrm.

Bitcoin can stand alone, and it does not need the support of altcoins, but bitcoin alone would not create a crypto market, and without altcoins, there would be no crypto industry.
Honestly, I'm here to invest and make money, I don't worship any coin, it's all just a tool for me to make money, so I won't pass up any opportunity. Those who care about safety can choose bitcoin, and those who are not afraid of risk can add some altcoins to their investment.
1883  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I managed to convince my senior dad to invest in BTC on: March 13, 2023, 01:46:23 AM
I am just thinking that I will say my father about investing in Btc but my father thinks that Cryptocurrencies are scam because it isn't legal in any country. But I am trying to convince him that already it has gained huge popularity and soon it will be legalized in every country. I hope day by day I will be able to convince him.
The worst thing you can do is try to persuade your father to invest in something he believes to be a scam because if you succeed in getting him to invest in bitcoin, he will hold you solely responsible for any problems that arise in the future related to his bitcoin investment. It's better to avoid letting that happen. You are aware of how it feels when your parents accuse you of their misfortunes. They'll spread the word about what you forced them to do.

I'd advise you to leave your father alone. Don't try to convince him to invest in bitcoin.

For those who don't believe in bitcoin yet, the more we try to convince them to invest, the more they think we are trying to deceive them, which just wastes our time. Instead of advising someone to invest, I think it's important to let them know the concept and how bitcoin works, I mean, teach them about bitcoin. Don't just try to convince them to put money into something they don't know what it is, bitcoin is not just for investment, it can be used as a means of payment, a place to store assets...
1884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 12, 2023, 07:05:18 PM
Dana White is definitely not in it for the fighters. You have to respect what he built and the UFC is a money printing machine so he’s been quite successful. However, if his goal was to be the best boss and have the happiest fighters, I’m sure he would be paying them 10 times what he is and I don’t think it would have that much effect on the UFC’s bottom line. Their investors have made billions and their fighters have made tens of thousands. Seems unbalanced.

My point is, first of all, the UFC is making money. They are making quite a good amount of money to pay the investors and also the fighters. But they are not paying the fighters as well as they should. I also do not believe that there is enough transparency between the earning of the fighters and also the earning of the UFC. That's because Dana White wants a huge amount of money for himself.

~
Unlike boxing, UFC is reinvesting in building performance institute where fighters can train and will have all the benefits including health care and coaching staffs and we have 3 Mexican champions as they built one in Mexico and they are building these performance institutes around the globe in developing new fighters. All the main event fighters are earning millions of dollars per fight and if you compare the boxing model the prelim fighters are earning much more in the UFC than in Boxing.

I honestly believe that if the fighters actually were earning so much, like in boxing, there wouldn't have been any complaints. But the fighters are complaining. It honestly hurts to see some random YouTuber turned boxer, earning a huge amount of money from boxing when some of the best of the best fighters in the UFC are not earning as much as they should. The UFC has continued its journey through some tough times. But I certainly think they should pay the fighters a little more.
1885  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 11, 2023, 04:36:37 PM
Dana White is most probably not the best person to handle UFC in my opinion.
the guy thinks about himself and the money, and it's very difficult to see complaints in other fight sports, so you could see that the problem is in the UFC. one day I saw an interview of a fighter complaining that they didn't have health insurance and many other things he complained about, I don't know if that's true or not, but if it's true, I wondered why the UFC doesn't pay health insurance to its fighters. your athletes? he no doubt is making a lot of money thanks to these fighters. maybe as a newbie I'm wrong

There are certainly a lot of things that a fighter does not get in the UFC. We are still talking about the fighters not getting paid enough because literally, a heavyweight champion of the UFC complained about that. Otherwise, a lot of people might actually think this is not true and this might not have been discussed so much as well.

I am never going to agree with the fact that the UFC is not making enough money. The UFC is making more than enough money and they can easily give the fighters a lot more if they want to.
1886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 11, 2023, 04:26:52 PM
I mean it is a big blow. But they still should be able to perform well. After all, they are still a good team without having Kevin Durant. What I am trying to say is they are of course not going to feel like everything has ended because they don't have Kevin Durant available because of injury. When he does come back from injury it is going to be really great and the team will also be more powerful.
This remains to be seen as there's no assurance that Durant will be able to come back this season. However, at least the team has won some games even without Durant, so I think they can compete well in the playoffs.

We will have to wait for the re-evaluation in two weeks to know his real status.
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kevin-durant-injury-update-suns-stars-sprained-ankle-expected-to-be-re-evaluated-in-two-weeks-per-report/

It does not matter if they can perform well without him or not, now they will have to perform. They will have to find a way to perform without Kevin Durant on the team. This is something anybody can face at any given time. So the teams will have to prepare for any kind of situation like this. I believe the Suns are going to fix this problem somehow, because they just  simply have to.

This kind of risk is given and it’s a small price to pay compared to the amount of contribution that a player can give both performance and popularity to the team which usually drives the profit of a team since many fans of that star player will now support his new found team.
The chance of a player being injured is very low also the management can check the injury records on a player before they will acquire him.
Yes, the management already done with assessment before acquiring or trading any players, they understand well if what contributions
and how the fans will embrace the new asset that they will acquire.
In regard to Durant, we all know how impacting this player for the team and how they will benefit when Durant is healthy.
The contributions and how good the player can help in chasing the world title.

Exactly. Just because a player might get injured after he comes to the team, doesn't mean that teams will not try to bring him in. Regardless of whether the player being really good or not every team understands that there is going to be a risk of players getting injured. But without him, they are probably not going to find a certain team comp that they want. And eventually, they are not going to win enough matches.
When Kevin Durant is healthy, he is going to be unlike any other player on the team and also really perform well as usual.
1887  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 11, 2023, 09:38:28 AM
I do have high hopes for the Suns. I believe they should be able to do it without Kevin Durant. At least they can get to the playoffs.
If only reaching the playoffs, I'm sure they can do it without Kevin Durant.
It's already proven that Booker, Ayton, and CP3 can bring the Suns to the playoffs even before without the help of any big superstar. But in the playoffs, they need Kevin Durant here to boost their offensive phase. It's also always a known habit by Chris Paul to choke at the playoffs and to cover that usual behavior of him every playoff, that's the time Booker needs something as consistent as Durant.
Chris Paul is not a known choker.  He has typically not been surrounded by players in his career that can go deep into the playoffs.  With the Suns it was much more than just him of why they haven't made it to the finals.  Just because someone never wins a championship doesn't mean they are a choker.

Well, I also agree that Chris Paul is not a known choker. But he did not perform as well as he should have in the last match in my opinion. And yes he did not win any Championship. But of course that does not make him a choker. I can see the Phoenix Sons being able to hold their own even without him having an incredible performance. They are in a good run right now. So I think we can count on them in the playoffs.

-.-
They still have Booker and CP3 and Ayton, it's just the question if this trio is enough. They used to have Bridges playing point as well and then Cam as sort of their defensive specialist and in which they exchange to get KD. And to be fair, KD doesn't want to get injured again, not in this way.
But it's an accident, no one wanted to see it happen, it's a big blow to the Suns, but they have to accept it now and then move forward, re-assessed the team and make adjustments again.

I mean it is a big blow. But they still should be able to perform well. After all, they are still a good team without having Kevin Durant. What I am trying to say is they are of course not going to feel like everything has ended because they don't have Kevin Durant available because of injury. UFC definitely encouraged the drama outside of the ring to sell tickets, and then publicly criticized everyone who jumped in the ring, and out of the ring at the end of the fight. I'm not sure boxing could get away with something like that, UFC still has that sort of attitude which actually prevents a lot of people from watching it. Personally, I avoided the UFC for a while due to me thinking it was too violent, and all it was about was hurting people. Obviously, I know better than that now, but I feel Dana's attitude to a lot of things doesn't exactly help its reputation.

Dana White is most probably not the best person to handle UFC in my opinion. I am not saying there are better people for that job. I am just saying that if he was a little less selfish, probably the UFC would have been a better reputable place for the fighters. A lot of fighters have been saying that they are not getting paid well enough.

You don't see these types of claims in boxing. In boxing either you are good enough for getting a lot of money or you are not. Someone like Francis Ngannou who was the heavyweight champion of that time when made the claim of not getting paid enough. It's never going to happen in boxing. I certainly don't think that it is the UFC not being able to pay the fighters more. I think it's just Dana White being Dana White.
1889  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is kyc verification dangerous? on: March 11, 2023, 06:50:40 AM
KYC will be very dangerous if it is used by irresponsible people. there are so many negative impacts of KYC if it is used in the wrong way because KYC has almost all the information about a person. However, why is KYC verification still being enforced today? It's because of regulations in a country that require companies to know who their users are. this aims to avoid money laundering or other negative things that can come from consumers or companies.

Indeed KYC is not as bad as people say, if it were really bad, it wouldn't be used to this day. But it only benefits the government more than the users, and another thing is that our world has changed, instead, it is KYC to ensure avoiding fraud, and money laundering from criminals. Nowadays, companies and organizations, especially financial companies, misuse the identity of users for profit, they are willing to sell our identity to advertisers and the black market...It was that behavior that made KYC dangerous for users, so people started to fear KYC.
1890  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What holds you back from investing in Altcoins ? on: March 11, 2023, 06:34:53 AM

The recent price drop of Bitcoin and some bad news on the market may cause a new round of FUD for investors. With the price going down, Bitcoin will be more volatile in the short term and the Altcoins that depend on Bitcoin will go through more ups and downs. In this bear market, more investors are hesitant to any Altcoin investment. Apart from the macro environment factor, what truly holds you back from investing in Altcoins ? Please let me know your thoughts.

People invest in altcoins because they can give higher returns than bitcoin, and what prevents people from investing in altcoins is the risk, the higher the return, the higher the risk. For me, I view the altcoin market as a gamble where we create projects to pump, dump and then disappear. I don't believe any technology is introduced from pre-alt projects, they are just trying to clone real world technologies. For example, the recent AI trend, when the world technology world went crazy for Chatgpt, the crypto market created hundreds of AI projects that time. While as far as I know, Chatgpt has been developed since 3 years ago, but with current AI projects, it only takes 1 month to complete. And the purpose is just to sell tokens, they don't develop anything.

Good player or not, it always have risks.
A team might have a developing player, choose to trade because of how long he took to develop himself and when he got traded, that's the time where his skill got unlocked and he became an all-star.

For this one, the Suns risked it all, traded Bridges, Johnson and some picks for KD because their door on winning a championship is slowly closing. CP3 is almost past on his prime already. If they will not win a title this season or next season, expect some huge changes with the team and that includes possible trading some of their core players like Booker, Ayton, and even Durant. Well, that's the risk that the Suns took. The only question now is, will the risk that they took be rewarded with a title.

The Suns for sure will clinch the playoffs, and we expect him to come back at the start of the playoffs at least, so we will see him playing his debut game on the home during the playoffs. Cheesy

Absolutely. There is always a chance of a player getting injured regardless of whether him being a really good one or not.
The point I am trying to make is when the player is a big one, a team generally tends to spend a lot of money or resources to get him in.

So, when any team tries to bring in a really good player the stakes are high.

I do have high hopes for the Suns. I believe they should be able to do it without Kevin Durant. At least they can get to the playoffs.
1892  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: March 10, 2023, 03:34:29 PM
Maybe you are right, they could be rating along with the hype train for Jones and his return to the octagon, and with that 1 win against Ciryl Gane that was currently the number 1 in the heavyweight division people thought that he is the real GOAT, upon getting this number 1 in the P4P many are really upset and not really buying this kind of preposterous kind of things that the UFC is giving them,
That's just how it is when you are hated by the owner Dana White but you win the championship and as soon as someone who looks like doing something unbelievable, you are quickly replaced without even putting to second thought your hard work and sacrifices. That's why many already left their MMA league and pursue their pro career in other MMA competitions where they get enough acknowledgment and merits.  It's not just about the money from now on, but the disrespect is so awful that they didn't even consider giving a few months for Islam to wear that title and he strips him just like that.

Dana White is a piece of shit. Whatever he sees money he grabs onto it. He does not think twice about anyone else. Remember the Conor vs Khabib fight? The fight was promoted by violence. That's something that should never have been done. Because we all know that violence is only going to increase if you promote something through it. He saw that Jon Jones' fight was really hyped. So he just took the chance and he is trying to squeeze every penny out of it.
1893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 10, 2023, 01:39:18 PM
After being traded to Durant, the thing I feared most and always said was injury. Durant got injured after playing a few more matches, unfortunately he is old and I think that's why he can get injured more easily than other players. If he suffers such an injury during the playoffs, we won't see a good result for the Phoenix Suns.
The team needs Durant, I hope he recovers soon and doesn't get injured again
They need KD to enhance the chance of winning the title. It's a good trade indeed if KD did not suffer for another injury, but we really can't tell what the future will be for each player.
That accident will affect the chance but not necessarily can dictate or accurately tell that it will be
the outcome, the league is still far and there are still changes that may take place.
We know how KD perform and this is not good to Sun for having this unfortunate injury gotten by Durant since their rooster is really affected in terms of productivity in points and defense. They trade their valuable piece for him so for sure his absence might create a big impact which can affect their team performance especially they are aiming to win a championship this season.
And what's bad is that it's not even in a game that he is injured, he is just doing his routine before the start of the game and suddenly it happened. I guess moving forward, KD is really prone to this injuries, his body is not getting any young and with that kind of frame, its hard for him to carry that weight as he gets older.
We can only hope that it won't be a long layoff for him because we wanted to see him play more time with the Suns and help CP3 achieved his only dream of getting a championship ring.

Bringing a really good player does have some risks involved. A player can get injured.
When any team is spending money for any player, they always have to remember the risk versus reward.
Bringing in someone like Kevin Durant is of course going to be a high risk, high reward move.

And that's exactly what's happening. He is getting injured but when he is playing he is actually playing well.
1894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Let them make the choice of bitcoin on: March 10, 2023, 05:36:28 AM
Convincing others about bitcoin is not bad idea but you cannot convince other person if you have not seen any good results from it. I think that business opportunities should be shared with one another because now the situations are so hard and no one can manage their life facilities so helping others will be good option.

You can give knowledge about bitcoin to anyone buy you cannot convince that person because without evidence not one will believe. In my opinion  giving knowledge about bitcoin is not bad idea because some will get help from it and they will probably having advantage and due to this profit they can make their life easy.

No one is saying that sharing bitcoins with others is wrong, but the problem here is that some people don't want to share it with others because not only are they not thanked, but they are also called scammers for sharing about bitcoin. When you give others a chance, but they see you as a scammer, laugh at you. Will you continue? I won't do it a second time.

I just agree that providing knowledge about bitcoin is the right thing to do if someone wants to learn about bitcoin. But never give someone financial advice if you don't want to be blamed.

Theymos/Bitcoin Forum Admin
The last person to record a Bitcoin sale was their well-known Bitcoin forum admin, Theymos, on February 20, 2010, who sold 160 Bitcoins at a rate of $0.003/BTC for just 48 cents, the lowest Bitcoin sale in history.
I know about Lazlo, he has the most popular bitcoin sale record according to me.
I know just a little part about Martti, I have never really found the time to search and read the full story.

But coming to Theymos, it's actually unbelievable for me that I am just learning about his bitcoin sale for the first time ever, 160 bitcoins in today's price is sickening and worth an unbelievable amount of money, but was sold for a mere $0.48 cents, really unbelievable, I would love to really know what Theymos was really thinking at the time, I am assuming he made this sell just to test out the ability to sell and buy bitcoin 😂, because what possibly could he have needed $0.48 cents for?

I think by the time they trade bitcoins or sell their bitcoins because they want to prove that bitcoin works and bitcoin has value, I think that's all they need. At the time, no one was interested in the new technology of bitcoin, bitcoin was almost worthless and was offered for free on faucets. Something that can be obtained for free and can be sold is a resounding success.
The success of bitcoin is a surprise to the world, I believe that if satoshi is still alive and watching us out there, he can't help but be surprised by his invention.
1896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Ponzi Schemes - People are confused. on: March 10, 2023, 05:14:00 AM
Those people need to change their perspective on bitcoin, where Ponzi schemes and Bitcoin are different things.
What if the Ponzi scheme uses payment using Paypal? Are they also going to blame Paypal for tricking them?
It doesn't make sense because they think that bitcoin is included in the Ponzi scheme even though bitcoin is independent and not connected by any program.
It would be better if they could check the Ponzi scheme program before they sign up so they know full well that the Ponzi scheme will not give them any advantage.

OP says he watched it on a popular show which means it was allowed by the authorities, and they are deliberately smearing bitcoin and spreading it to keep people away from bitcoin. The people who made that program are not mistaken, but they did this on purpose because there is no way to get people to stop looking for bitcoins, so they came up with this dirty trick.

Just as some governments say that bitcoin is a vehicle for criminals to use, but before bitcoin, criminals have also used fiat for illegal activities. But the government has never said that fiat is abetting criminals.

Nepal and Papua New Guinea are playing the first match of ICC Cricket World Cup League Two 2019-23. Papua New Guinea get a good start in this match. In today's match Nepal bat first and setting a good target of 297 runs. So far Papua New Guinea team batted 5 overs and scored 31 runs without losing any wicket. It can be said that this is a good beginning for them. Papua New Guinea have some good cricketers in the top order and if they can apply in today's match then it can be certainly good for them. But the most important thing is that a partnership is needed. Since the target is big, it is difficult to win the match if the partnership is not big.

It was a comfortable win for Nepal in the end. Aasif Sheikh has played a great inning for Nepal. He is the reason Nepal got this comfortable win. Now I have to say that the performance of Nepal except for him was not very high quality. So Nepal will have to improve their cricket if they want to actually compete against the big boys in big tournaments.

After all, I can say that Papua New Guinea did try to perform well and they did. The partnership just needed to be a little more meaningful. And Papua New Guinea also have to do better in bowling.
1898  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if a change in people's views? on: March 09, 2023, 05:27:11 AM
what are your thoughts on what if the majority of the population all of a sudden sold all their fiat and put it into a crypto? like BTC, do u think the system or part of the traditional finance system see some type of impact/disruption?

Never gonna happen. I think crypto being as good as it is, won't win over fiat as a traditional way to make payments. To change from fiat to crypto you need to rebuild the entire economic system and it would be very hard to control because you can't print new bitcoins (which is good for inflation) but at the same time you can't print bitcoin even to boost the economy or resupply lost bitcoins.

So I think there are really no point to make bitcoin a new fiat. I think they should just coexist.

The government remains the ultimate authority, and fiat represents their power, so even if people do something harmful to the fiat system, they will stop it immediately. Bitcoin or any altcoins will never have a chance to replace fiat money, if one day, fiat collapses, a new monetary system will be created. It will also be a product created by the government, they will never accept something they do not create and have no control over. I believe we are all aware of it, we are just delusional, stubborn, and do not want to believe the truth.
1899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: which cryptocurrency do you prefer the most to accept payments in? on: March 09, 2023, 05:13:12 AM
There are more than 12000 cryptocurrencies like bitcoin, altcoin, litecoin, dogecoin, etherium and so on. We all have our favorite cryptocurrency. Among all of these, which cryptocurrency do you trust and prefer the most to accept payments? Share your thoughts about it.

As we all know Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that's widely accepted anywhere in the world that embraces Bitcoin. So, most preferably we all want to accept Bitcoin and any other merchant and service providers. Bitcoin should always be the primary and then secondary should be ETH, XRP, LTC, and a meme coin to some like Shiba or Doge (while they're still have the hype). But if you want to make sure, just prefer Bitcoin, ETC or XRP.

I agree that Bitcoin is by far the most accepted, but when it comes to payments, I really don't think people will be willing to spend their bitcoins on daily payments, people are looking at bitcoin as a lucrative investment rather than using it daily. Even on this forum, what we are discussing is accumulating and holding bitcoins for profit, very few topics talk about bitcoin payments. If yes, then they only use bitcoin to pay a few times to experience it, no one is willing to use it often.
1900  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is launching a new project during bear market a good idea?? 🤔 on: March 09, 2023, 05:01:06 AM
FireDAO is a social DAO project based on PID and FID soul-bound accounts, and it's initiated and established by the RainbowCity Foundation. I'm one of the project team member and would like to gather more ideas from everyone in Bitcointalk forum.

I've seen alot of projects did so well during the bull market, but now I'm wondering is bear market will affect the progress of a new project...

When a bear market happens, people will tend to accumulate top projects like bitcoin, eth... and avoid investing in new projects because new projects will be riskier. Personally, I would not invest in new projects at this time, even popular ones invested by large funds, let alone crowdfunding projects. In my opinion, it is not advisable to launch a new project in the bear season because it will face a lot of difficulties, while if it is launched in the bullish season, everything will be smoother and easier.
