bigrcanada is right - we need a one-button wallet, or as close as possible. Because camosoul is also right - people aren't too bright, have non-existant attention spans, and are lazy bastards with entitlement complexes.
Catering to the masses is in our own interests as techies.

The last time I checked LTC didn't move any goal posts and its value has gone from $40-$50 to $5.
Also, I did ask before....can someone point me to the finished Bitcoin project please, you know the one where there are no devs working on anything.
Uh, that's existed for quite some time now has it not? Plenty of talk but no actual development... and there has never been such a thing as a LTC developer worthy of the title - fork BTC, rename it, use a different algo, job done eh? Sit on your arse for over a year and then shoot yourself and your fellow bagholders in the head with ASICs. Genius!

The U.S. Consumer Protection Bureau has also released a 'Complaint Form' for virtual currencies.
Where's the complaint form for The US Dollar? I've got a few bones to pick with the producers of this inflatable scam shit... Hey, you are not allowed to complain about the gun to your head. In fairness, complaining wouldn't do much good. Action is what matters. Be faster and have a better gun. I do love the gun; MY GUN. Ofcourse ofcourse... but since we were talking about "complaints". I agree with you though. The time will come when we need to go Han Solo on those guys. Fuck Greedo. I don't care who fired first. I care who had the Right and the Need. This is how I file my complaints: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su4-0okfg18I fuckin' love that rifle. Not quite the same, but in the commie theme I've got a VEPR 12 scattergun on order... hideously overpriced in the UK but what the hell.

Is it mandatory for MN owners to update? Don't think so, sounds like just some client fixes.

Portfolio upgrade to version 0.10.12.28, but I took some constant -0.001 DARK..I can not understand why! As I can understand, these coins are made only in a transaction, but apparently not. If you leave your wallet tomorrow I'll take all the coins! Anyway. I want to go back to version 0.9.12.28 and I will not take money from the wallet for some reason! What will happen if I do? Is that possible? Thank you.
Help, please! Er, close 10.12.28, download 9.12.28, open 9.12.28... ?

****** PLEASE UPDATE TO v9.12.28 (Stable) OR 10.12.28 (RC) ******* This update is backwards compatible, so masternodes need not update.
Goddammit I spent two hours today reworking my masternode management lolware to handle local/remote setups for main-net, I'm going to update my MNs! (I'll wait an hour though just in case. ) Not mandatory! But I want to push my magic button six times! edit: Goddammit, I'm going to have it iterate through them by itself, so I only have to click once to do the lot! Heh.

Overall I think the launch went well. Most people have had their coins denominated and to date all major "DRK are gone" problems have been resolved. At this point there are 2 issues I see that need to be addressed.
1) Darksend rounds > 1 never finishes denomination for a number of users (myself included) 2) Handful of users aren't seeing their transactions confirmed and be included in the blockchain -- this results in the coins getting stuck.
I expect Evan to take care of these in the next day or two.
I'm going to be working on #2. Can people send me the TXID's that are unconfirmed, their debug.log and a screenshot of the transactions tab? evan@darkcoin.iobump. if you have stuck transactions please do as Evan asks. This issue is resolved! Update coming soon Croutons Continuing Comedy Coding Cataclysm - Masternode Tools v0.4 now supports fully automated local/remote updates. Bring it on.

Updated my MNs to RC4 have already watched 5 payments miss my masternodes and go to RC3 addresses instead. Helping the network is great and all but I really hope Evan grows a pair and sets a date for enforcement / hard fork. Let's see it happen in a week or so!!!
Is there something you don't understand about blockchain technology? Whoever has 51% of the network hashpower is always right...ALWAYS. The software will always see the 51% fork as the correct one, even if it isn't the one that Evan "wants." TL;DR If Evan turns on enforcement before a majority of the network updates, it will break the network. The non-enforced fork would literally become the dominant one. Not quite true - if all the exchanges are on the correct wallet, anyone on the wrong one is wasting their electricity...

Get emailing the pools that haven't paid you! It's been barely 24hrs, things will improve.

Since updating my wallet to 0.10.12.27 I got 58 transactions as "Darksend Denominate" or "Payment to yourself" with -0.001 DRK: But there is still no anonymized balance: Wallet was online the whole day. How can I stop it paying denomination fees without anonymizing my DRKs? My settings are on standard, so 2 rounds of denomination. Found this a few times in debug.log: 2014-08-14 15:15:29 DoAutomaticDenominating : No funds detected in need of denominating Try setting DS rounds to 1, some people are having problems getting more rounds than that right now.

plz dont forget that PoW technology uses utter energy and is not sustainable by any means; therefore completely useless for modern world transactions on a large global scale. there are fast and sustainable models used today and in the future and i know you know it cuz u are smart ~CfA~ National banks printing increasingly worthless paper money at top speed isn't exactly sustainable or eco-friendly either... If you're talking about proof of stake coins I don't know where to begin with how technically and economically broken that whole model is, at least in any current implementation. pow/pos whatever- it's all utterly worthless for this global economy of today. decentralized attempts will not work in this capitalistic world. u will see. it will never happen. bitcoin will never be used on a global scale. ~CfA~ So why exactly do you think businesses will scorn a technology that is faster, much cheaper, and more secure than the current centralised system? Most CFO's would sell their firstborn to shave a few percent off company overheads.

Remember that PoW relies on distribution, not total hashpower. The first is critical, the second irrelevant. More thought needs to go into mechanisms to keep that hash evenly and cheaply distributed I'll admit,

To be honest, privacy aside, I'm just glad to have options to avoid having to use that piece of shit tax exile company called Paypal.
Paypal is just shit with their higher fees . I hate Paypal with a passion. Ebay as well. Can't wait until cryptocurrencies and decentralized markets make those fuckers bleed. its never going to happen dude. welcome to the world of capitalism and power. cryptocoins are NOTHING in this scheme of things. a little measly drop in a grand ocean. ~CfA~ What kind of moron is going to continue dealing with the world's worst customer service as well as 10% fees when a free alternative is available? There have been times where they placed holds on my money for 2 months at a time. You call them and they bullshit you, nothing gets done. I listed an expensive item once, and they wanted proof of where I got it. I told them to go fuck themselves (literally) and sold it on Craigslist for free. Took longer, but I saved nearly 10%. yes i hate paypal too its pure crap. BUT cryptocoins cant compete with it and they never will even slightly. its a nobrainer. mainstream gives a shit for bitcoin and cryptocoins. this will not change believe me and see paypal keep on thriving even in 5 years. ~CfA~ Remember myspace? Altavista? Vinyl? VHS? ... Things move on mate. Have fun in your cave! wrong comparison buddy. u have no idea how much slow blockchain technology lags behind modern virtual payment technologies used by credit card companies. bitcoin is 5 year old technology, it's not really going anywhere. mainstream couldn't care less! keep your eyes opened 'things move on' indeed - mostly in the non-crypto world where all the power, money and skilled developers are residing. ~CfA~ These payment processing companies you seem to worship all charge a fortune, and just because it takes 5 seconds at the till doesn't mean the whole process is that quick - it isn't by a long shot. Claiming that 5 year old technolgy can't compete with 20+ year old technology despite being faster, much cheaper, and more secure seems a bit daft.

camosoul for the love of dog run a dumprivkey on whatever you have left...
I believe he got everything back I hope so, all the more reason to backup now to paper, and so should everyone else. Plus, as we've seen it isn't enough to have backups, you need to verify them each time too if possible - I know it's a pain in the arse but it saves grief down the road. Nobody takes backups seriously until it's too late and they're screwed. A newbie question - how do you back up to paper? Is the private key stored in plain text? Or is there any app to get it out of wallet.dat? I have a few digital backups but would not mind the paper as well This is Backup. To make it quick and easy, type 'dumpprivkey <public address that is in your wallet>' in the wallets' console, and write down (copy / paste to a text editor, public and the according private key) both. Then print it out, twice, and store each in a different physical location. Fresh paper wallet. The nice way would be to grab the DRK address generator, go offline, open the file in web browser, generate new wallet (with qr code, and nice layout), print that out and distribute the your coins across these 'new and fresh' paper wallets. So the coins are nowhere online, just on the papers' cold storage address. http://paper.darkcoin.io/Grab the source from git, and create paper wallets offline. I have a question about this. If i understand correctly, after the coins in your wallet have been made anonymous, those coins are placed in lots of 'change' addresses. Does the resulting private key from the 'dumpprivkey <public address that is in your wallet>' command still contain _ALL_ your coins? (not literally but after importing it again ofcourse) No, it wont. First, disable darksend and consolidate all your coins into one address by sending your balance to a new address that you have just created in-wallet. Or pick an existing one, doesn't matter really, as long as everything is in that one pubkey. Then go to the console and type: walletpassphrase 'your-passphrase' 60 - unlocks wallet for 60 seconds dumpprivkey 'address you just sent your balance to' - without the quotes Cut and paste the output (the private key) into a text editor or something, put the address in there too, and then print out 15 copies and hide them under the bed of your fiercest granny and other places. Hide/store them securely (lamination is good for waterproofing) because anyone who gets hold of them can steal your coins by doing what you need to do to import them into another wallet, namely: importprivkey 'the-private-key' 'label(optional)' - without the quotes at the console in a new wallet somewhere else. HTH.

Is it enough to update masternodes to .26? Will they still get paid?
If you're going to update now might as well update to .27, you'll get paid by the increasing number of pools that have updated to RC4. Ah, sry for not being clear. I did already upgrade to .26, just want to know if I it's required to further upgrade to .27. I'll upgrade anyway when .28 or .29 comes out with some fixes. No if you're on .26 then .27 is not compulsory, my MNs are still .26, I'll probably wait too for .28. edit: just noticed I got a payment a few hours back from x11ltcbtcltcltcltc or whatever they're called, they've updated to RC4 but are still only paying 10%
