1901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying cheap is best formula on: March 27, 2023, 01:28:04 PM
I don't really understand people sometimes. You always wanted to buy when it's cheap, when was the last time it was cheap? As far as I can remember when I first learned about investments few years ago, that is the first thing they told me which is to buy when the price dips down, and how far the price went since the first person told me that? If I were to say, there is no correct or exact timing when will the price go down so you could restock or buy the dip.

Better to buy whenever you have extra money rather than regretting not buying earlier.

The thing is that cheap is relative.

What is cheap?, $1?, $100, $10,000?, it has already passed those levels already so are they cheap really?, maybe it will always be cheap compared to a future value.
1902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I found this meet satoshi nakamoto on: March 27, 2023, 01:26:34 PM
Anyone who spends their time trying to reveal the identity of Satoshi or comes up with made-up stories or tries to link fake identities and stuff to him is simply wasting his time and those who read/watch them. So if you are specifically searching for such videos or blogs or anything, where you can find people revealing Satoshi's identity and telling who he actually is, you are just wasting your precious time.

Do you think that a person or a group that can create a technology like Blockchain and Bitcoin will ever be exposed if they deliberately hid their identity from the start?

The more time passes, the harder it will be to find the person.

But there will always be people wanting to search for him, and eventually he will die of natural causes, leaving the whole thing as a mystery.

It doesn't matter really. People are not obsessed about who invented the wheel for example, but it still works fine after all this time.

LOL, A great topic has been raised. If he is arrested, he may have to spend the first time in the jail of the country he will reach. But I don't know if any country will dare to catch him or not. However, if for some reason the Trump administration wins the American elections, then I am skeptical about the direction in which American politics will turn. Whereas the Trump administration has a deep relationship with the Putin administration. In that case, there will be big changes in American politics. Moreover, Trump's popularity is much higher. However, there is doubt whether Trump will be able to stay in his previous place or not. Some gamblers will not miss the opportunity to bet.

I really wonder if there are odds for those bets. I would be funny to see what they expect will happen.

At the end of the day you can bet on anything really, and this is one of those things that attracts a lot of people.

so i checked again the results of the poll what's the general sentiment of forum users and still, the dominant answer is they won't let AI predict their bets. it is understandable as there are still blind spots even if we say there's big data behind these AIs. the players themselves, their current conditions are not included in the AI's database. so the performance alone is a big factor in the final outcome of the game. how about the strategy of the new coach? so yeah, that kind of info is under the radar of AI, only those sportsbettors with up to date info can get such details.
Well, but at the end of the day humans also use all the data they have experienced their whole lives to predict something.

It's very similar in the end.

And I can also see why a human would not trust a machine. It's the typical us vs them phenomena.

No you are not paranoid, when it comes to the security of our money we should invest more time and money to avoid losing coins long term. Over the years I had many different wallets, right now I probably still have 10 active wallets out of which I am using 4. For me the best approach is do have seperate wallets for each purpose. My smallest wallet is a mobile wallet where I keep only a balance below 100 USD. This is the lowest form of security and I only have it for quick purchases. The second wallet is an online wallet where I usually keep less than 1,000 USD. This my wallet where I deposit and withdraw my gambling money. Once the balance becomes to big I send the coins to my third wallet, a paper wallet which I use for medium term storage and to buy any bigger items from. My last wallet is my hodl wallet where I only deposit money and never want to withdraw coins from. Only in emergencies I would consider taking money. Maybe I am also paranoid, but it doesn't cost much time or money to run multiple wallets.
I think everyone should design their own system that works for them, and having at least 2 or 3 wallets seem to be the best.

You definitely need at least a wallet with small amounts for every day transactions, and a cold wallet with savings.

On top of that you can be creative depending on your circumstances.
1906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I found this meet satoshi nakamoto on: March 25, 2023, 11:28:01 PM
His claim is that Adam Back used the same linker as Satoshi Nakamoto.

Come on man, if anyone in the world compiled anything and shared it at that time, all those projects will probably have the same linker because it was the one available at the time.

Also, the compiler in question is Microsoft Visual C++, basically the most common compiler at the time for compiling C++ in Windows.

Basically, not worth watching, save your time and do something interesting instead.

In my discovery the bear market does not favour only for Investors but also the signature campaign participants, when the bear very low the pay in BTC is high and when the price has increased then you sell it as high price. But if the price of bitcoin which is the bull market and you are paid as a campaign participants the amount of bitcoin would be small. So most campaign participants like the bear market for some times before going up of the price.

Investors are most likely more happy when the price is low because they buy at that time and sell and the bull market. So it is good for them as well.

At the end of the day the lowest price of Bitcoin will continue to move up over time.

As long as you keep buying or earning it and saving it, you should be alright in the long term. It doesn't matter too much if you bought at the top, just look at the top prices a decade ago.
1908  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: March 25, 2023, 11:13:05 PM

FIFA also needs to have enough as an organization and tournaments like the world cup can be good options for them also since they accepted multiple countries hosting the world cup and there will be more countries in the world cup in 2026, they aim to increase the community of the world cup. Increasing the community will give more income to FIFA and maybe that's the main reason for them to make these decisions for 2026.

The FIFA is actually a registered non-profit organization, but that is where all the issues arise from. They say that they are investing the money back into soccer development around the world, but you can still make shady deals or contractual setups where certain individuals or organizations with close ties to the FIFA eventually profit from. There have been tons of investigation into the expenses and investments that the FIFA makes, but when they say that they invest in the development of soccer, that can almost mean anything. If they funnel money to a company that is supposed to contribute to soccer development, you might get an idea of how the FIFA can use their money in shady ways.
The thing is that FIFA is such a huge organization with massive amounts of money coming in, so it's a really easy place for corruption to take over.

I haven't really looked too much into it, but the possibility is there.

Not related to ChatGPT but I see in some fb post about talking AI, it was Elon Musk who's investing on it t's really something that the technology is bringing to economy, and moving back to AI who can help you in predicting the outcome of every sports event, so far it can give you idea but still it's you who will decide if you'll going to follow or use it as a basis before you can pick the game to bet on.
It's funny that people seem to put Elon Musk in anything related to technology.

They even claim he is Satoshi Nakamoto  Grin

I do not doubt that under 18 is prohibited by all gambling platform but we cant deny the fact that there are many under 18 who are gambling in online casinos.
My sister is a high school teacher where most of the student are under 18, she told me that there was a time when all student's phone are checked by police due to 3 students are getting caught gambling in public places.
The result shows that more than 50 students out of 400+ students use their phone to gamble in online casino.
It is just a proof that the rules of age in most online casino can be avoided especially if all casinos has a mandatory KYC that should be done before the first deposit.
That's just awful in many ways.

Police checking phones of students sounds like a nightmare situation to be in, that's just incredible.

And on the other hand having kids under 18 gambling is also horrible as their brains are still forming, and they will become gambling addicts

In purely luck-based games(like the game in the OP, btw) it doesn't matter whether your emotions envolved, or it's "rational" judgment or a clouded one. It all depends on luck. Period.

A small correction. The above statement is true if you want to earn money through gambling. If your goal is to have fun, then, of course, it is more rational to not bet all your balance at once, but make smaller bets to last longer.

Yeah, it's all just luck, but you can help your luck by playing games that have more probabilities of you winning than others.

It's all math in the end, luck can be helped with it.

Well, it's really funny how people are trying to invent things that could make our lives easier, and so we eliminate majority of human work by letting the robots take over on what supposed to be done by a human being. Then, after it's been developed and released publicly we suddenly became concerned that it might cause a major unemployment globally. Human interactions are indeed vital, but it seems like we're gradually getting rid of it. I'm afraid those bartenders and baristas will soon get replaced by a robot who definitely has a lot of interesting ideas to utter while you're in a bar table sitting in front of that robot serving you drinks.
I think people should maximize the use of AI in terms of our security.

It's great to have technology to help us have a better life. Back in the days life was very hard, now it's so much easier.

The thing is that humans will always crave human connection, and that will probably never be emulated by a robot.

People are starting to humanize chat AIs though, but it's still not the same as being face to face, as we all experienced in the pandemic.

yes I agree, he's an active player as an attacker and always runs and moves everywhere, he will get tired quickly and can not make a Portugal didn't effective yet if still let him play on 40 old years. Maybe will be different if let him play as a goalkeeper like Buffon, who in 45 years old and still exists an active player until now, because that position does not require a lot of movement on the field, only the Penalty zone area.

Hypothetical assumptions may not be true all the times. You are assuming that he will get tired quickly, because he will be over 40 years by the time the next world cup begins. But I would say that even if he faces some disadvantage with the age, he will make that up with his skills and athleticism. Ronaldo is someone who always maintain a very good fitness level. Anyway, in the end if the coach feels that he is the right choice in the team, then he will be having a place in the starting XI. Else he will be replaced with some of the younger players.
I just don't see Ronaldo playing in the next world cup.

By signing up with his new team I think he basically decided to retire but still collect some nice checks for a couple of years.

There's no way he can be at the top level at that age and after playing years in a non-competitive league like the one he chose to join.
1914  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: March 25, 2023, 04:47:09 AM
All this drama surrounding Trump is just another attempt to shift attention away from the deteriorating economic situation. Yesterday, US central bank increased the interest rates by another 0.25%, and we can expect a sharp increase in the inflation rate (which is already in double digits). In the United Kingdom, the inflation rate has touched 10.4%, as per the Bank of England. Two banks have already collapsed (Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank), and there is a very good chance of an economic meltdown in the next 6 months.

The funny thing is that the media covers more Trump than the actual president.

It's a weird thing to be honest.

You can bring in as many examples as you can, and explain them with screenshots showing how people suffered extreme losses due to excessive gambling but there will still be people who will ignore all that and continue doing what they wish to do, and in this case, it's gambling until they are out of money at the end.

Some people don't care about what math says or that they have a disadvantage over the house and even if they win some bets, if they continue to gamble, their wins will eventually be turned into losses, but they will only understand once they suffer from it themselves.

You're probably right, I guess that's what keeps casinos businesses as huge as they are.

Technology ease out the work, but without the involvement of human it is not gonna be effective.

Everything is human made, and this could reduce the human workforce and might cause employment problems. For now the usage have been limited. Over time the need will increase with the fast moving world, by then GPT would play major roles.

When it comes to gambling it serves as a data management system which just takes the available data, analyse and gives the probable chance as the outcome. However this doesn't gonna be successful with every bets.

Yeah, at the end of the day humans prefer to interact with other humans.

That's why we will always have bartenders and baristas, even though robots have been able to pour you a perfect drink for years. No one cares about the robot, they care to connect with the human.

As far as I know GPT 4 is more advanced. It can deliver information to a user more reliably and faster than before. Recently I saw an article that said many people will lose their jobs due to AI and the reality is pointing to that. If this AI can do all kinds of work then there is no need to hire manpower. If every organization eliminate its employee, it can have a boon effect on human life. Again I saw in one place that this Chat GPT has been banned. However, I haven't got a clear idea about this yet. But it is natural that technology will also develop with the change of era.

Technology always have shaped the jobs available.

Not many people are working these days copying books by hand, but that was a job at some point.

Also, many jobs will just continue, but probably be made easier by GPT.

For example, programming was really difficult in the beginning, you had to punch cards, then high level languages appeared, then stackoverflow appeared helping people, now programmers will use GPT instead of searching the web.

At the end of the day you'll need someone actually dealing with all the details for the job to be done. The intermediary steps will be made easier by GPT, so probably there would be less need for people, but still you need people to do things.

To be honest, i dont understand why some ppl so mad at KYC... and would like to know opinions of who is against that, just to understand an their view.

My main issue is identity theft when the company that got my KYC ends up being hacked and my identity details stolen. That's actually a real possibility these days.
1919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: why people promote gambling sites . on: March 22, 2023, 01:07:54 AM
Attention is one of the most important things you have in your life.

Whatever you pay attention to, becomes your reality, your life.

Businesses know this very well, so they pay a lot of money to grab your attention, and therefore making you their client.

That's quite literally what advertisement means:

Quote
A notice, such as a poster or a paid announcement in the print, broadcast, or electronic media, designed to attract public attention or patronage.

People promoting gambling sites are simply doing so because they get paid by the gambling site to do so.

This happens for basically almost every product or service out there. Famous people get paid a lot of money for just saying they like X brand, even if it's not true. The masses will follow blindly and buy that because it caught their attention.

And the product itself doesn't have to be good, for example alcohol is bad for you, but it's advertised everywhere as a social fun thing to do.

It's as simple as that, they are paid advertisements. That's it.
1920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin cannot be a Bank? on: March 22, 2023, 12:55:39 AM
I read this tweet by Michael Saylor and I think it is not practical. I believe this guy was pretty high when he started comparing Bitcoin with Bank. Let's compare most of what he tweeted and then let's discuss the real problem. We all know the positive aspect of Bitcoin and to an extent, I agree with what he tweeted. I still would like to ask in general:

 • Can you pay your Mortgage with Bitcoin?
 • Can you pay your house rent with Bitcoin?
 • Can you pay all your bills with Bitcoin?
 • Can you pay your medical bills with Bitcoin?

Deceiving newbies with such a statement won't get Bitcoin the required recognition. It would only lead to more confusion and uncertainty as Banks have done for so long. Such a statement from a Bitcoin influencer would only tarnish the image of Bitcoin. Mcafee was known for such statements.

The thing is that you're asking if you can pay with Bitcoin for services that are expecting a specific kind of fiat.

The same scenario would be for example if you are in the US and want to pay your mortgage, or rent with Euros. Of course they wont accept that, they are expecting USD for those services.

Now, if you go through a foreign exchange service, then you can pay those services with Euro->USD.

The same can be done with Bitcoin.
