1901  Other / Archival / Re: No panic while holding my Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 07:09:20 PM
Weak hands usually have a problem in the network, they sell at any event that causes panic and they don't buy until the price starts to rise, it is great that you don't intend to use BTC the way weak hands do. From your post you have learnt things about BTC investment, but take note that BTC is also a currency, a permissionless and censorship resistant one, so you should also have confidence that BTC is a currency that cannot be controlled, hacked or shut down by any government and one you can use without anybody's permission, this is the most important thing about the network.

These weak hands are more of newbies that are inexperienced about Bitcoin. They panic sell at any slightest fud or fomo to getting back investment or possibly a little profit gained which causes a big price crash giving room for more whales to accumulate more bitcoin and wanting to control the market.

I just assume they are not knowledgeable enough to have studied about Bitcoin before getting involved in it. They are even worst than daily traders because traders too do not panic sell the way some newbies do and that has been the problem of price fluctuations in the system coupled with other factors too.
Are most newbies weak hands?

I dont think so because i take myself as an example, when i started my bitcoin journey as a newbie, i have the steel hands mentality and at that i always look out to the best possible opportunities to buy more rather than selling because as a newbie all I aimed to start more bitcoin and I don't even have that thought of ever selling no matter what the condition of the market will be, this approach really helps in my bitcoin accumulation journey.

So not all newbies are weak hands and just as the ops have said, he has taken the right step by studying well for the task ahead and the DCA value of Bitcoin regardless.

I do not doubt the fact but I believe that it is possibly so because of their inexperience as newbies. On the normal, nobody would want to  risk their investment to the point of losing out but rather gain back their investment forgetting that at that situation it would be better holding for long in other to recover all together with their profit.
Like I said research and inquiries keeps one abreast and knowledgeable about a subject matter so it is possible some newbies takes their time to do the needful by giving it an attempt to broaden their experience.
1902  Other / Archival / Re: No panic while holding my Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 05:15:45 PM
I was shocked that you did not have the same perspectives as other newcomers. Most newcomers lack patience, so they make decisions based on their emotions, which is extremely risky in terms of investment and trading. An investor who is quickly frightened usually has little expertise about Bitcoin. Certain individuals believe that volatility has no advantages, however volatility is the reason that certain people become wealthy quickly. If you know enough about Bitcoin, you will believe that the price will skyrocket in the near future.

I believe sometimes it is the get rich quick mentality that makes most newbies not really take out time to do the needful by  doing their research properly in knowing more about bitcoin. Sometimes, it all points towards the way and manner whomever onboarded them had explained it to them on how bitcoin works. Newbies understanding hovers around making profits without putting other factors into considerations. This has caused them their funds as most fall easily for scam, some get hacked and some end up loosing their funds in the course of trading when they have no idea and know not the basic fundamentals in what they have engaged themselves into.
1903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New question for experts on: June 15, 2023, 04:21:01 PM
Attending such function is not necessary but it is some worth important. Seminars creates avenue to get acquainted with more projects and like-minded people around the world. There you can meet investors and good project teams if you have any project too, you could have the opportunity to showcase yourself to the Crypto world to see who is looking for it.
Concerning a country's ban on Crypto and the possibility of Crypto enthusiast holding a seminar there is very risky. There you could be exposing yourself to risk because sometimes the government can send in agents to go monitoring the events activities and possibly making a prosecution on those who organized the event and likewise the attendees too which is not safe.
1904  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Will there ever be any safe centralised exchange ? on: June 15, 2023, 04:05:59 PM
KYC is not in not safe  in any way. KYC is a tool and process set up by the government through the centralised exchange to checkmate Crypto trading activities which before you sign up with any centralised exchange, you will need to agree to their terms and conditions which includes them giving your details to any third party by law when the needs arises. So therefore upon giving them consent, you already agreed to them using your details for any thing and I will not be surprised if they trade people's details for Money because they have it full in their possession and come to talk of it, you as a client don't know what is going on with your details your shared with them all in the name of kyc which makes it very risky. Initially, this was not the plans of Satoshi Nakamoto for bitcoin but the government which we have been avoiding has made their way in by including kyc which they are in for. With kyc on exchanges I do not think there is anything anonymous anymore and this is not safe.

KYC makes a hacker's life easier by putting all of your personal information in a single place. This makes centralized exchanges less safer to use than decentralized exchanges. Besides, KYC greatly defeats crypto's original purpose of eliminating the middleman. It's like going back to the era of traditional banking.

For crypto/Blockchain tech to achieve its full potential, KYC must be eliminated for good. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do about it if we want governments to support crypto. No KYC, means a hostile environment for crypto/Blockchain tech from governments and banks alike. At least, we have many options to choose from. It's up to you to act responsibly by never putting large amounts of crypto in a centralized exchange. Who knows how far will the industry go? Just my opinion Smiley

There is no way a centralised exchange would operate without a government approval in their locality. KYC is what the government uses to keep track of exchange activities so they could know the flow of funds and assets. Although the essence of blockchain was for anonymity. One could remain anonymous while carrying out a transaction but the fear of  sponsoring terrorist, money laundering and lots more have made the government interface into the system making the centralised exchange the arm of government on blockchain to monitor financial flows onchain.
1905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We shall separate commercial exchanges from investment exchanges on: June 15, 2023, 03:53:37 PM
OP if I may ask you this question are you aware that these activities are all financial connected? Do you know that these activities are being monitored by the government for certain reasons? Do you realize that this opinion of yours some how dose not reflect a true exchange policy?

The government I think would not allow such to happen because they would want all financial activities be monitored under their raiders. Exchange that does only conversion of funds to token vice versa are still doing the work of p2p but the difference is that they are being monitored by the government to know the transaction details and for task payment as well likewise the trading aspect of it too. Differentiations in that manner would likely not be feasible because if the tendencies of the swap exchange arises to boycott KYC, the government would react and it would cause more harm than good. So bringing anything contrary to the already existing government standing order would hold no water.

1907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife on wedding. on: June 15, 2023, 03:24:28 PM
From the looks, OP said bitcoin is illegal in their country and possibly op is doing bitcoin trading or investment in secret way so the government can not come for OP. If OP would say that he would gift his wife as a surprise gift then it is assumed that OP wife is not aware OP does bitcoin trading and possibly she does not know much or anything about bitcoin.  I think if OP does not do the needful by educating his wife about bitcoin then I think his wife might definitely not know the importance and value attached to bitcoin and would definitely not care about the gift.
OP can invest for his wife on bitcoin then possibly buy a gift for his wife while he keeps  the bitcoin investment a secret from his wife and concentrate on teaching her to know and broaden her knowledge about bitcoin before giving her the surprise bitcoin gift.
That would be very much romantic OP.
1908  Other / Archival / Re: No panic while holding my Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 03:09:04 PM
OP, it is nice you took out time to learn more about bitcoin before taking any steps. Learning keeps you knowledgeable and therefore would guide you through knowing more about any thing you deem fit of knowing based o your interest. I must commend you for the task you have yourself because not everyone would want to do such when it is very accessible to them irrespective of the fact that they do not have idea of the system as it works but are eager to get it without prior knowledge.

I must remind you of this. Do not keep your assets in decentralized exchange as they are a third party to your assets and as such, you do not have access to the private keys so therefore it is very risky to do so. You should have a self custodial wallet where you can transfer your funds to for your safety.

Remember this "not your keys, not your coin"
1909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 02:18:21 PM
Smartphones didn't exist, and the Internet wasn't wireless when I was a kid, but that doesn't mean that the kids of today don't need to understand smartphones or know how to use Wi-Fi. Times change, new technologies appear, and new generations need to know about these things. Nobody should force children to learn anything, and one doesn't need to believe in Bitcoin or be an expert. But providing general knowledge about it and about other important things in the world wouldn't hurt. Why not both invest and educate?
Providing general knowledge for the kids is very important because that helps sharpen and put them in shape of the current trend. You can imagine you being in a place or gathering where discussions are held in the latest technological innovation in the world and you have nothing to contribute or talk about it. That is very bad and shows how backdated one is not to talk of it being in a recognized function.

I believe teaching them about the bitcoin as a new digital finance could be helping them be abreast of knowledge. It does not necessarily mean that you must teach them about it to start doing some financial engagement with it but rather let them have a little knowledge about it so as not to be an island or get lost When ever they are in the midst of their friends or peers and such conversation is going on. They too can contribute to the discussion and not be a dumb.

Mentality counts too, having poor mindset in friend/family circle affects the one living with them and may not let one get out of poor mentality. Change your circle if one wants to get better in life, as there is a saying, you are what you surround yourself with.

I believe too, influence from your family circle let you feel comfortable with how life can be, though lazyness is also a big factor
and the reason why you are not willing to find ways to change your life.
But in this case actually the influence of family or closest friends can also be categorized into 2 in my opinion because of course there are things that can be used as an excuse when friends want to move but on the other hand it can also be the other way around because indeed when we want to move by looking for chances are precisely friends who frustrate it.
Not a few are actually affected by conditions such as environmental factors that lead us astray.
It would be great if the environment we have is a healthy environment because no matter how lazy we are with an environment like that we will start to be affected and the opposite can be a differentiator when indeed we are in good spirits but the environment and the people closest to us are not too healthy so this is constant too will affect us.

Indeed your circle matters because it also aids to straighten ones perspective and individual orientation. The bible also says it that one in a companion of the wise shall remain wise but the companion of a fool shall be harmed (Proverbs chapter thirteen versus twenty) Also, the bible says it that iron sharpeneth iron (Proverbs chapter twenty seven versus seventeen). These quotations are realistic as it speaks of great volume how humans lives their.
It is still applicable to ones routine. If you keep yourself in the  midst of lazy and lousy people it is contagious and definitely would have side effects in your life as it is bothers your activities too.

I have come to realize that what ever you keep in contact with constantly always have a place in your life because it has become part of your routine and can never be neglected only on self constraints one would be able to limit such connection.
1911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stop stressing kids with bitcoin on: June 14, 2023, 10:34:21 PM
These generational kids are very smart and intelligent. Very inquisitive and ready to know unlike the old generation were there was nothing as sophisticated as this day modern technology.

I will say this if you have a kid that is too inquisitive about technology or something new, do not fail to give them all information about it so as to aid their knowledge more on that subject matter. As they have already picked interest in it, It would not cost anything for them to flow with it very fast. That is how it is now. It would be in your interest to teach them well with the right thing otherwise someone else would teach them the wrong thing the wrong way and that might likely result to disaster.

I don't think any child below the age of 11 shoukd be bothered with cryptocurrency, no matter how much interest they  have in it.

I guess you are trying to say something with respect to the Crypto ups and downs which has to do with the market trends hence you are pushing for kids to not be bothered about it. If this is your point then I must say this should not be a problem because I think it is enlightenment stage for the child to assimilate more information on what they have willing required for.

Back to Bitcoin. I believe age factor is a major player in this scenario.  It is not bad if your kids are interested  in bitcoin or not. What matters is that they would have something to hold unto as their accumulated investment which has been kept for them long enough if eventually you as a father buys a fraction of bitcoin for them as a long term investment.
1913  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A portion of my clothing store's weekly profit is invested in Bitcoin on: June 14, 2023, 07:24:50 PM
OP it is nice you invested in bitcoin but you should note that bitcoin is volatile and risky. Therefore do not expect immediate profit from your bitcoin investment as it is not a get rich scheme affairs but holding for a long term would definitely yield you big rewards depending on how fast and high the price goes.

I believe what you invested was your extra proceed
otherwise you spare cash which you would not feel bothered about so that you can not lose focus based on how the market trends goes be it down or up.
1914  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Binance changes terms of service on: June 13, 2023, 07:52:45 AM
Every organization has the power to change their terms of service at their will. They owe no obligation to informing anyone about the process of changing it. It only takes a sincere organization to do so if only the changes would not affect majority of their clients. Most organization do this secretly because they know what they are doing would greatly affect their clients negatively so they could benefit from it.
That is why as a smart investor you are, it is pertinent that you do check for terms of service regularly so as to be on the safe side if there is any changes from the initial. These are the things they do to make away with customers funds and they have every right to doing that which is very absurd.
That is why you are advised to keep your assets and funds in a self custodial wallet for your own good. Remember the sayings " not your keys, not your coin".
1915  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria why😭😭 on: June 12, 2023, 11:27:05 PM
Those exchanges suppose to have offices in Nigeria, or they should stop their services to Nigerians.
Binance is not ready to lose Nigerians from patronizing

No doubt mate. Binance knows their own very much and would want to go at any extent to protect what they benefit hugely from. Nigeria has always been a market target for all. So allowing Nigeria market slip away from their hands is like letting a diamond go which they would never allow or let another take away from them.
Nigeria is a strong market contending force in the business atmosphere of all international organizations. Every new business would want to have a route or a trace to the Nigeria market because they know Nigerians would definitely have a taste of it. Hence the federal government of Nigeria is taking advantage of every opportunity to stand their position and not allowing anything slip out of their hands.
1916  Economy / Economics / Re: Why do people stay poor? on: June 12, 2023, 10:56:56 PM
I think the thing that makes someone still poor is that he doesn't have a clear vision about money, he thinks that money is a normal thing and is not his target or hope, when he gets a lot of money it will be easy to spend it according to his pleasure, he always thinks that tomorrow there will be the same money.

People staying poor is not only because of a person's incapability.  There are also environmental factors that make them stay poor.  We have seen lots of hardworking individuals stay poor this is because they are taken advantage of by their employees by paying them low salaries.  Aside from that, since these people don't have their own house, they sometimes end up paying high rent that almost takes all their income.  So we won't be surprised why many people stay poor even though they have a stable job.

Your point makes sense mate. Exploitation is another issue why people are poor. Employer's sometimes are very heartless.  They take advantage of their employees situations and desperacy to work so in that case, they offer their employees peanuts with threats making their employees hopeless and not willing to leave since they have no other option but to accept the job with Fate. These are sometimes one of the problems why people stay poor. They are underpaid and their salaries does not commiserate with their inputs compared to the running cost and personal expenses put together you will see why some people live in hand to mouth without any savings and something to show for.

In my country we tag this as " monkey dey work, baboon dey chop"
This says more of people living from hand to mouth with no savings and nothing to show for.
It is a very frustrating situation where I do not wish anybody to experience such in life.
1917  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria why😭😭 on: June 12, 2023, 09:27:31 PM
You see why it is good to do a proper research before coming here to sprout out information you are inundated with.  I was going through the news about it but there was no where I saw that the federal government banned binance from operating but rather it cautioned users and Nigerians to be much careful when dealing so as not to fall for scammers and it still remains n the stand of resisting banks from dealing on Crypto.
On the other end binance has refuted the claims and denied anything to do with binance nigeria limited saying I has no affiliation with binance nigeria limited.

I do not know how many people here must have received such message. I just want to let the platform know about this so that nobody would fall for this trick by this account holder @proxy3200.
Probably not many users received a message from him since he is a newbie and has a PM restriction due to his rank. Since his rank is a newbie with zero activity, he won't be able to send more than two PMs daily.

Quote
If they are looking for this services what stops them from making an official announcement on the service board for others to see rather than sending message to my dm if they do not have a sinister motive. I would advise anyone dealing with them to be extremely cautious
This is a scam attempt, for sure. Why do they try to sell those scripts if such scripts work? They can make unlimited money by using thewn scripts and not selling them. Here this guy tried to exchange a script. Who knows, maybe his scripts contain malicious codes that can harm your computer, and you might get hacked.

I thought as much too because I see no reason why one would want to sell such script when in the real sense one could get a fortune out of it then I realized there is more to it than I thought. Possibly, there could be something more to this script than we could think of. Maybe just a you have said the possibility of it being  coded for some nefarious act and these scammers do pick possible targets so as to infiltrate their devices with virus with codes if their targets do buy or exchange script with them.

Welcome to the forum.

Forum has Boards like Bitcoin Discussion, Mining, Beginners & Help, etc.
Each Board has Child Boards. In each board, there are threads like this that you created.

And in each thread, there are posts like the one I just created.
Posts work as a comment.

I hope you understood the basic structure.

Yes I do now, after going through the rules and regulations thanks.

Just as you have noted them, there is also local board where you could familiarize yourself with people from your region or country. This helps newbies alot because there they could interact with people from their locality, ask questions so they could be guided all through their stay onboard this platform.  It did help me alot at some point in my early days here because asking questions was something one could do freely on local board so you could be guided by members who are ahead of you on the platform.
Soni would advise you to follow same measures in identifying with your local board and getting familiarized with their activities so you too can scale through with assistance from your local board.
1920  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does anyone still stores their crypto in any exchange on: June 12, 2023, 08:09:37 PM
You know exchanges are flooded with newbies every minute of the day. So one can not really really but my intuition tells me there are lots of newbies who are inundated with happenings around the exchange. They have no ideas and as such do not mind and bother to know. These are the people that falls for these exchange bonus of holding their assets to gain more. Since the newbies have no idea, they would opt for it thinking it is safe there but unknown to them that is the worst decision one can take here without putting into consideration any possibility of the exchange being attacked by hackers.
As for me, I barely leave my assets with third parties. I am knowledgeable enough to know what is happening within the Crypto space so I would not be that ignorant to stay aloof.
What I do advise newbies under me is to make sure they protect their assets so they do not wake up to hearing stories that touches the heart. There are lots of self custodial wallets out there one can make use of in storing their assets and funds so why not go for them. Transaction fee for withdrawal should not scare you if you really want to protect yourself from any unforseen circumstances.
