1901  Economy / Economics / Re: Can the World Feed Itself? Historic Fertilizer Crunch Threatens Food Security on: May 03, 2022, 11:16:06 AM
Food prices are going up and there's nothing we can do about it.
The farmers will find ways to optimize their production costs and efficiency, but the food prices won't get cheaper. We just have to find a way to survive.
There's lots of untouched good soil in my country, but the farmers don't want to use it,because the agricultural property is divided into multiple small parts and the government isn't providing enough financial incentive for them to rent and use that land.
Many countries in Africa and Latin America will have a hard time feeding their growing population.
I can't figure out a fast and effective solution to this problem."Food immigration" might become a thing in the upcoming decades.
1902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Hard earned money - Busted in seconds on: May 03, 2022, 06:09:15 AM
It was almost two months hard earned money. Got busted in few minutes. I don't know why I wasn't able to have me within the limits. Just started with a $3 bet, but it went upto $98 and ended with empty wallet. This is completely unlucky, because every bets were placed to roll above 20 which means the winning probability is quite high. Anyhow I wasn't in control and I didn't follow the rule gamble what you can afford to loss. It was a money saved to repay a debt. Now once again the interest needs to be paid so to manage the debt for some more time. Unlucky me  Sad Sad Sad

Somebody might call this a gambling addiction(and it might be true).
I would like to call it a "sunk cost fallacy".The more you get emotionally(and financially) invested into the game, the harder it is for you to quit.Losing control while gambling is the worst thing ever.Maybe that's why I try to gamble far less than I used to.
Gambling with money that were saved to repay a debt? That seems quite irresponsible, but that's your choice.
Everybody makes big mistakes sometimes. It's not about having no luck. It's about losing control over your game.
1903  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Afraid to buy Bitcoin in its bearish state? on: May 03, 2022, 05:49:29 AM
It's funny how the Bitcoin price went from 40K to 38K and everyone(in the crypto news websites) is talking about a "bearish market".The Bitcoin price dropped by only two thousand dollars(less than 10%).It's not the end of the world.I would declare a bearish BTC market,if the price drops below 30K USD and stays there for several months. Grin
We should stop comparing the current BTC price with the last ATH price. The last ATH price was just a price bubble that popped pretty fast.
Should we buy BTC options or futures, instead of buying actual Bitcoins? To be honest,I don't care.
Just pick whatever you want.
1904  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Dow Jones falls 80%, bitcoin will fall 99% ? on: May 02, 2022, 10:43:00 AM
It is remarkable that during all these 13 bitcoin years (2009-2021) we have witnessed no big stock market crash - the fiat money mass has only increased and increased.

During this period there have been no years like 1929 or even 2008. But when the last remarkable stock market fall emerged (in March 2020), bitcoin fell much more than major stock indexes...

How sharply will bitcoin price react to the next Big Crash ?

The financial markets are dominated by people and the people are emotional creatures, who act like sheep sometimes(call it conformism, panic or stupidity,I don't care).
When the stock markets crashes big time,it isn't very difficult to come to the conclusion, that the crypto markets will crash as well. When the crash happens, all those panicking investors would just run away from the high risk markets(stocks and crypto) and buy gold, silver, real estate or commodities.
Will the BTC price crash more than Dow Jones?Maybe yes or maybe no.I don't care that much about this and I don't have a crystal ball to predict such outcome. Grin
1905  Economy / Economics / Re: Warren Buffett and His Expansive Explanation against Bitcoin on: May 02, 2022, 05:59:58 AM
Warren Buffet's arguments make sense, but Bitcoin isn't a stock or a piece of real estate.
Bitcoin is supposed to compete against FIAT currencies, not against stocks, bonds, farmlands and real estate.
Unfortunately, the volatile nature of BTC and the massive price growth in the last few years made a lot of people think that Bitcoin is some kind of magical financial asset, which would bring them 100x profits.
This is simply wrong.Bitcoin was created with the sole purpose of being an alternative to the US dollar and the fiat currencies around the world.Unfortunately, this main purpose shifted to "making more money and getting more profits".
1906  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is a game you would like to see in an online crypto casino? on: May 02, 2022, 05:37:07 AM
I would like to see a multiplayer version of roshambo A.K.A "rock, paper, scissors".
I guess that some crypto casino might be offering this game, but I haven't seen it so far.
This game could be developed into so many variations that would make it even more interesting, but I don't want to reveal them here. Grin
Implementing a multiplayer game of soccer penalties would also be great.Player one chooses where to shoot the ball, while player 2 decides where to move the goalkeeper.
The game would be totally luck-based and there are no risks of exploits,so there's no problem for the crypto casinos to publish such game.
1907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin a Partway to Becoming Self-Reliance. on: May 02, 2022, 05:18:07 AM

Bitcoin on the other hand offers its, users, the total freedom they deserve both in financial freedom and also in the knowledge of how transactions are handled and verify this gives Bitcoin users the total freedom. spend their money whatever way and in whichever amount. Bitcoin activities on the other hand are more profitable compared to other physical traditional activities which have made it users totally free.
What do you think about Bitcoin&freedom

Bitcoin offers freedom if you know how to use it properly.Putting your Bitcoins in a centralized custodial wallet/exchange platform doesn't mean "total freedom".
I don't know what do you mean by "Bitcoin activities"?Do you mean crypto trading?NO,crypto trading isn't more profitable than "traditional physical activities".Most of the crypto traders are losing their money.
I don't know where did you come up with this conclusion? This sounds delusional to me.
Freedom is all about responsibility, making the right choices and sticking to them.Being free doesn't necessarily mean that you will be more successful with what you are going.Failures are a big part of making choices and a big part of learning and improving as a person.
1908  Economy / Speculation / Re: One more leg down on: May 01, 2022, 10:54:13 AM
I've never heard the term "one more leg down",but I don't watch crypto speculators and pseudo-experts on Youtube and social media. There's no point in this(other than having fun watching those pseudo-experts making ridiculous price predictions).
Today the market corrected sharply, the price returned to below $40k or currently around $37900, but I believe the market will bounce back soon so if we buy now it will make us get big profits, don't panic is the key to profit if we invest in cryptocurrencies.

The price will keep moving above and below 40K USD for God knows when. There's no need to make drama out of this, but the newbies and the FUDsters will keep acting as drama queens and overreact every time the price goes below 40K USD.I wouldn't mind if the price drops under 30K USD.The FUDsters and the noobs would probably freak out even more, when the market drops at a 20-30K USD Bitcoin price. Grin
1909  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin is too volatile? Bitcoin VS Netflix, Apple, FB, PayPal, ..etc on: May 01, 2022, 05:45:20 AM
The comparison between Bitcoin and different stocks has been done multiple times before and I don't like it.
Bitcoin isn't a corporation,it doesn't make profits or losses,it doesn't have revenue and costs.
Really interesting infographic, but I couldn't care less about this info.
Also,I think that Netflix is a dying business. They've increased their prices(in times of high inflation and an upcoming recession),but the quality of the content, that's being broadcasted on Netflix is dropping.
Nobody is saying that stocks aren't volatile. It depends of the financial model of the particular company.
Many big companies have stocks with a stable price and low volatility. Why don't you compare them with Bitcoin?
1910  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free games for fun! on: May 01, 2022, 05:19:35 AM
I don't understand what you are trying to suggest, but I'm sure that it won't work. Grin
If you want to play poker for free, just download a poker game on Google Play or the Apple store and you can play poker against real people for free. You don't have register an account on a crypto casino,in order to play poker for free.

Quote
Club’s players deposit/withdraw  money(cryptocurrency)  to admin.

This is where your suggestion will end up being a scam. There's no guarantee that the admin won't run away with the coins/money.Even if the admin is highly trusted and reputable, not a lot of players would trust him enough to send him cryptocurrencies.

This post is confusing to me in a way I don't understand what you really are trying to say here can you give some clear information on the subject matter to be discussed.

OP will have to learn English or get a better online translation tool than Google Translate.
1911  Economy / Economics / Re: Does anyone care about the environment? on: April 29, 2022, 06:18:26 AM
If you're constantly up on the news, I'm sure you're aware of the scientists stage worldwide climate change protests.

Over 1,000 scientists from 25 countries took part in the Scientist Rebellion's demonstrations over a week ago.

How does this affect on the market? Or doesn't at all? On the prices of bitcoin?

And so what? All BTC miners should stop mining to save the earth from global warming, just because a bunch of scientists are protesting? This is ridiculous.
A bunch of scientists protesting cannot affect the Bitcoin price.Nobody cares about this right now.
The inflation is rising(it might turn into stagflation, which is bad),there's a war going in Ukraine, the pandemic still doesn't come to an end. There might be global hunger next year.Do you really think that global warming is the main problem of the human civilization right now?
1912  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Australia to ban Pokies on: April 29, 2022, 05:51:05 AM
I guess that abolishing all gambling machines altogether is the 'easier to implement' solution, compared to keeping the gambling machines while trying to regulate and monitor them all the time.
I was never a big fan of slot machines and I don't mind the Australian government trying to remove them completely from all pubs and clubs. This might help many gambling addicts to fight with their addiction, while other addicts will just find another way to gamble.

Quote
Now, is that fair ?
Abolish the machines altogether?
Why isn't regulation and monitoring not taken into account?
What do you think ?

It's fair as long as the gambling licenses of the companies that own the slot machines are taken into consideration. The Australian government doesn't want multiple lawsuits by the slot machine owners, for breaking the conditions of their gambling licenses.

I wanted to buy about 50 dollars in cryptocurrencies...what platforms would you use and what payment method? would you use one or more platforms to diversify risk in case of hacking for example or to take advantage of various sign up bonuses? and if you know of any sign up bonus that I could take advantage of?

It's pretty much pointless to use multiple exchanges to diversify the risk,if you are going to trade with small amounts.
Like other forums members have said, just stick with the big exchanges and don't overthink it too much.
Margin trading isn't for you,if you are a newbie. An exchange having "advanced" and "innovative" features doesn't add that much to the overall quality of the services that's being offered.
The fee structure is really important,if you are going to do "scalping" or "day trading",but I wouldn't recommend day trading if you are a rookie, unless you want to play around with a small amount of money,in order to practice and gain more experience.
1914  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia suspends gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria for failing to pay in rouble on: April 28, 2022, 10:45:07 AM
Summer can't come soon enough don't it?

According to the government information, we have reserves for 90 days (based on the winte rconsumption rates) so this scenario was expected after the expulsion of a dozen of Russian citizens conspiring against our country and spying for Russia. We were one of the first countries to colse our airspace for Russian airplanes so we were havely criticised  for those actions and there were many threads from the Russian side. It was just a matter of time that to happen.

Nope.Bulgaria has natural gas reserves for one month. The alternative gas that is about to come from Greece and Turkey will be way more expensive and there's no guarantee that Greece and Turkey would agree to export gas to Bulgaria.
The whole "pay for our gas with rubles" thing is a big nonsense. The western countries are still paying with euro and dollars to bank accounts in Gasprombank, where the euro and dollars are being converted to rubles.
Basically nothing has changed, but the Russians are breaking the gas delivery contracts for no valid reason(or maybe to show the world that they are strong enough to blackmail EU countries with natural gas).

Quote
One might be aware of the fact that even though the Gambler knows that he is loosing money they measure the gambling to be an effective usage of that money, a leisure activity to begin with therefore it's more concerned with the activity-than winning an idea that some problem gamblers ignore.

I think that there is a little bit of misunderstanding here.
The gambling addicts are more concerned about winning and less concerned about the activity of gambling, while the ordinary gamblers are concerned about the opposite-they gamble mostly for fun and have less expectations of winning.
The gambling addicts are delusional, because they overestimate their chances of winning the game, which deviates their behavior and makes them wanna gamble even more, despite the fact that they keep losing and losing. The dopamine produced inside their brains makes them think that they are doing something productive and fun, while in reality, they are ruining their lives. This is clearly a delusional state of mind.
1916  Other / Archival / Re: Why has bitcoin adoption failed in El Salvador? on: April 28, 2022, 05:36:32 AM
We have to keep in mind that El Salvador is a very poor and underdeveloped country.
The vast majority of the population are pretty traditionalist and conservative. They want to stick with what they are familiar with. The people, who are open minded and want to embrace new technology are a really small part of the population.
The "download Chivo wallet, get 30 USD for free" campaign was pretty much expected to fail. There's no clear incentive for the people to use the Chivo wallet, except those 30 USD.
The current state of Bitcoin doesn't help for mass adoption. There's a high inflation around the world and the Bitcoin price isn't moving anywhere. The myth about Bitcoin being able to protect your wealth against inflation is about to get busted.
1917  Economy / Economics / Re: EU suggests we should all go eco and sing kumbaya on: April 27, 2022, 10:50:10 AM
Buying and consuming food that is cultivated by using organic or artificial fertilizers should be a personal choice.
You want to eat healthy and you are ready to pay a higher price-choose bio food, that has been produced via organic fertilizers.
You don't have a big budget and you don't care what you eat-then choose cheaper food, produced via artificial fertilizers.
The EU isn't going to completely ban artificial fertilizers,in favor of the bio food industry.
The EU bureaucrats might be dump and corrupted, but they aren't completely insane.
1918  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- 2021/22 Round of 16! on: April 27, 2022, 06:37:38 AM
Great performance by Manchester City, but Benzema and Vinicius Junior are unstoppable.
Those two can win the UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid.
The Man City defense was the weak spot for the English Team and we all know that Pep Guardiola doesn't like having a more defensive style of his teams.Man City will have a hard time in Madrid, because Real knows how to win such games.Ancelotti is a very clever manager.
There's a small chance for us to see extra time and penalties at the second match in Madrid. That would be nice.
1919  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon and and how this "dude" could effect bitcoin in the future? on: April 27, 2022, 06:19:08 AM
The adoption of dogecoin by Twitter wouldn't affect Bitcoin in any way.
Elon Musk doesn't have major influence over the BTC price right now.Manipulating the market prices of financial assets by spreading rumors, gossips and even personal opinions(if we are talking about Elon Musk) is supposed to be illegal.Elon Musk stopped joking with Bitcoin in the last few months and even if he trolls Bitcoin again, the BTC community wouldn't take him seriously.
The deal of Musk acquiring Twitter isn't finished and it might be denied by the US authorities,so let's not pretend that Musk is the new owner of Twitter.
1920  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elon Musk buys Twitter on: April 26, 2022, 11:01:31 AM
There are concerns that Elon Musk might unblock Donald Trump's Twitter account, since Elon is talking about "free speech" and all that stuff. Grin
I don't mind him doing this.Trump is an entertaining person and almost nobody takes him seriously nowadays(after he got vaccinated and he supports Ukraine).
Buying Twitter is an extravagant decision for Musk, but he is so rich that he couldn't care less about other people's opinions.
I'm sure that he didn't buy Twitter with the only intent of making profits.Maybe he wants to develop Twitter into a better social media platform, which is a joke, because all social media platforms are bad,if you ask me.
Twitter was the most toxic social media website and things might get worse,if the trolls get unbanned.
