1901  Other / Meta / Re: Ideas for new factoids? on: September 19, 2023, 07:49:22 PM
Incidentally, depending on their setup, not everyone will see these factoids.  Ever since I started using 'uBlock Origin', I don't recall seeing any on my PC or laptop.  Pretty sure that entire div gets blocked by default because it gets interpreted as an advertisement.
It is part of the "uBlock filters - Ads" default filter list.
~Snip~
Click on "Apply changes" and then refresh the page. They should be back again.

I really didn't know that uBlock has such filters but I hope that DooMAD will see the factoids once again after following the steps that you mentioned in your post. But, what if someone completely disables uBlock on bitcointalk.org? I believe if someone disables uBlock on bitcointalk.org then he/she may see the factoids once again. I don't really use that extension myself but I believe that it could be disabled on a particular site.
1902  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Is there another similar concept? on: September 18, 2023, 09:12:20 PM

° Can an online business besides just a gambling platform, which accepts Bitcoin as payments or for payouts, run a signature campaign on this Bitcoin talk forum, or is the term 'signature campaign' strictly attributed to gambling platforms?
Yes, any business can run their signature campaign on Bitcoin talk forum and the signature campaigns aren't just limited to gambling sites only. Still, most of the signature campaigns are run by gambling sites because they know that this community is the best place for promotion of their platforms and launching of a signature campaign is the best way to get exposure from all the users of the forum. There are other businesses like mixers, exchanges, and p2p clients that are running their signature campaigns on this forum sucessfully.

° Is there another kind of forum for online businesses that accepts Bitcoin as payment, which is similar in concept like this forum? If no, is there any other discovery you have had that's close in initiative to an active community as this, which aims to help advertise, market, educate, inform and encourage adopting payments in BTC and crypto currency in general?

The only answer to this question is "No" because there is nothing like this forum in the whole internet. This is the only forum where we have an active community of users who are interested in Bitcoin and who contribute their valuable opinions, ideas, and information about Bitcoin on this forum.
1903  Economy / Gambling / Re: BetKing.io Token Refunds - $38k refunded since going live again on: September 18, 2023, 08:15:37 PM
Also, There’s no sense on giving warning about this casino since Betkng.io is not operational anymore. It doesn’t accept deposits and also this thread is for refund and not an advertisement to attract players. We are already off-topic here.

It's still needed to give warnings because such businesses can play the trick once again with the victims who were affected by the ICO fraud that Betking.io did with them. I know that the title of the thread is for refunding and they said that they have refunded $38k but still that amount is nothing against $6 million. I'm not accusing them because if they are going to refund the users then that's going to help them regain some trust. I hope Eternad and others will get their money refunded by Betking.io and if they does then that's something unbelievable, and surely it will be a hard thing for them to refund each investors but if they successfully does that then they may gain some trust once again.
1904  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Trade Deficits on: September 18, 2023, 07:50:13 PM
In order for this not to become a problem in the long run, there would have to be goods/services that could only be (or at the very least are much better to be) purchased in bitcoins, forcing people to exchange fiat currency for bitcoins and closing the trade deficit.  Maybe this isn't a problem at all, once the bitcoin community becomes big enough a large enough number of people will prefer to store their wealth that way that when they are paid in FRN they will exchange that to bitcoin?

There is no easy solution for that trade deficit and I'm quite sure that in current times people still prefer fiat over Bitcoin for purchasing of goods at local stores or in online stores. There aren't any good online markets where users can get unique items only using Bitcoin and that's not going to change anytime soon. Bitcoin is getting accepted by many new people and it will continue to get accepted by even more people overtime, and there are chances that in future some websites or a local businesses might accept Bitcoin only payments for some specific items.

But, still I don't think that any reputed businesses would take a step like that because disqualifying fiat payments could reduce the number of customers for those businesses and that's why any business or site would probably take a route where they will have both Bitcoin and fiat as way of payment. They can instead have a strategy in which users that pay via Bitcoin get some extra perks, bonuses, and discounts, and a strategy like that might increase the trades with Bitcoin but still that approach will take a lot of time.
1905  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Navigating the World of Online Gambling on: September 18, 2023, 06:55:46 PM
-cut-
Sometime ago, I came across a post where someone raised an issue on how do we know that the casino isn't set to beat us at their own games, unfortunately, you can't tell. but these casinos are governed by different bodies to protect customers right in win win and loss. we still can't tell if this is true though. some thing you can check before getting to bet in some casino.
I am not sure what you mean by this. Casinos are literally set to beat us, that's called house edge, without it casinos wouldn't make any profit. This has existed since casinos have existed and they are very open about it. House edge is small but they are in it for a long run so huge wins are counted into it.

You're right most of the casinos can beat us due to the house edge that they have in the games that they have developed. The casinos have pretty small percent of house edge in those games and that's one of the reasons for them to earn profits. There are some games where house edge is low and some games where house edge is high. In some games house edge is above 10% while in other games house edge is below 2% but still the house edge is present in most games. We can not deny the fact that casinos have advantage of winning because of the house edge and if they completely remove the house edge thing then most of them will be out of business.
1906  Other / Meta / Re: Lottery on the forum, is that allowed? on: September 18, 2023, 06:46:13 PM
As long as the prize is in Bitcoin, it's allowed on the Games and rounds board.
And if the reward is given at altcoins like ETH ot LTC, is this unacceptable?

It's against the rule no 15 of the forum.

15. No on-forum altcoin giveaways. [6][e]

15.

Most giveaway threads are no longer allowed in the Alternate cryptocurrencies sections. From now on, posting or replying to such threads could result in being banned.

The ones who don't follow that rule can get banned. As LoyceMobile said that there have been some members who were banned only because they ran or joined altcoin giveaways. Even if someone reply's to altcoin giveaway could face a ban, and that's why the reward should be in Bitcoin only.

1907  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 18, 2023, 06:35:15 PM
I still remember the days when I and my friends used to play Mario bros on NES and that's one of the most nostalgic games that I played in my childhood days.

I really didn't care much about the coins that we collected in the game, but now I know that the coins were very essential.

Ah, Bitcoin weren't you among those coins or they have added those coins to predict that someday a coin will be more essential than anything else.

BTC is soon going to reach $30k...
1908  Economy / Economics / Re: Use of clean energy in bitcoin mining and its impact on: September 18, 2023, 06:15:02 PM
Bitcoin does not need Elon Musk. He should fuck off.

Elon Musk only manipulated for people to leave bitcoin for doge. That man will not accept bitcoin for anything, his mission is doge.

After he stopped payment for bitcoin, bitcoin still later increased and got to all-time-high.

What about Tesla? I do not like Elon because of his unpredictable nature, and he has made positive and negative statements in the past about bitcoin. I do not like any meme projects as well, but a car company like Tesla can be at the forefront of the bitcoin market in the future. They have a large user base and resources to accept bitcoin for their online payments.

We can't underestimate the Tesla and the users who use the Tesla cars but if the owner of the company is against Bitcoin then we should not expect anything good from a person like Elon Musk. His main hobby is to promote doge and earn huge amount of returns from his holdings and that's it. He isn't interested in Bitcoin anymore and that's why even if all Bitcoin miners use clean energy he will find another excuse to reject Bitcoin and support that meme coin Doge.

I know that there are so many users who basically are using Tesla cars and they can be very useful for Bitcoin if Elon adds it as a payment method, but even if he doesn't add it the Bitcoin won't get impacted at all. He loves Doge a lot that one day he may invest a lot of money into it to pump its price, and I'm sure he has such plans that he will execute during this bull run.
1909  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: you have to manage risk for trading. on: September 18, 2023, 05:02:28 PM
We should avoid impulsive buying and selling.

Well that's true because impulsive buying and selling could cause huge losses and the ones who do such kind of trading are the day traders. I don't really think that any other type of traders rely basically on impulsive trading because a patient trader would wait for the proper market scenario when he/she places his/her buy orders, and those traders mostly sell when they make some profits from the initial position where they have placed buy orders. Those traders basically aim for 0.5% to 2% per trade and sometimes they can get two to three such trades a day while at other times they may not get any trades in weeks.

I don't think that is meant in depth. I read the user's previous posts and found that he advertises the heartbitintro platform, and I believe that the isk management feature is one of its features, and they may be selling reliable trading signals.
In any case, what he is trying to explain is far from risk management or technical analysis, and the difference between them is great. Therefore, trying to have one platform that combines the two things is not a good thing, and your risk assessment strategy must take into account buying from more than one platform and speculating with more than one asset.

I strongly agree with you! The user is trying to promote heartbitintro platform and when I searched about that platform on Google I got no information about it. Seems like the platform is quite new and he's the creator of the platform and it isn't even listed on Google search engine. I also believe that he's trying to explain risk management and is someone relying on technical analysis based on historical charts. Let's see what the OP will say about his platform because to me it seems like a way of marketing and nothing else. However, if the platform is genuine then we'll learn more about it from OP.
1910  Economy / Speculation / Re: Michael Saylor predicts Bitcoin can go to $5 million? on: September 18, 2023, 03:58:43 PM
I'm not sure about his prediction but surely Bitcoin can go to $5 million or even more than that, but still we don't know when because in upcoming 10 years it's not possible for Bitcoin to go anywhere close to $5 years and if it does then most of the holders will be millionaires and some maybe billionaires.

Bitcoin is the best asset in the whole world and it can grow to the unimaginable heights in future but sadly no one knows that how long it will take Bitcoin to cross $1 million price tag. Let's still be optimist about its price and hope for a better future for all those investors who are holding. Surely Bitcoin will be at $120k within 3 years but not sure when it will reach $5 million.
1911  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Navigating the World of Online Gambling on: September 18, 2023, 03:49:47 PM

Check the Casino's Reputation, Before you jump into any online casino, take some time to research its reputation. Find out if others have used this casino and whether they've been able to successfully withdraw their winnings. A trusted casino should have a track record of fair payouts.

That's a very important thing and some people really doesn't give much importance to it. It's always better to learn about an online casino and gather as much information about it as possible before depositing your funds into it. The ones who have been into online gambling for long time know that the reputed casinos won't ruin their reputation for thousands of dollars. That's why it's always mandatory to research about an online casino before delving into it.

Protect Your Privacy, Be extremely cautious with your personal information. Never disclose sensitive data to anyone claiming to be from the casino, as this could be a ploy to steal your funds or identity. Legitimate casinos won't ask for this information upfront.

Very true, the reputed casinos never ask for personal information when someone registers an account at their site. They may ask for KYC information later on when a gamblers wins a lot and has to withdraw a lot of money from that casino. There have been many cases where third parties have used the name of the casino and called themselves as representatives of that casino in order to steal funds of the players. Those malicious hackers always try to find new ways to manipulate others with various social engineering techniques. Once someone is trapped by them then that user could lose a lot of things by sharing his private information to those hackers.

Set Betting Limits,Avoid the temptation to bet more than you can afford to lose. Set clear limits for yourself, both in terms of time and money. Gambling should be about entertainment, not financial desperation.

It's the most important thing for a gambler. If someone doesn't set limits on their gambling activity then that gambler could face really hard times in future. The ones who doesn't set limits often get addicted to gambling and once someone is addicted to gambling then it will be hard for that user to end that addiction.
1912  Other / Off-topic / Re: The New Apple Iphone 15 on: September 18, 2023, 03:37:58 PM
There are no revolutionary changes. I'll stick with my iPhone 12 mini for now.

Rear camera 12-megapixel camera now 48-megapixel
A15 Bionic chip now A16 Bionic chip
6.1-inch Super Retina XDR now 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR
Lightning port for charging now USB-C port

We don't even need that much of CPU or Camera power.  Undecided Who needs that anyway? If it fulfills the daily need then it's enough. Every year Apple would release a new iPhone with nothing NEW. Maybe a smaller display or maybe less weight or maybe some more megapixels. There isn't anything creativity. At least they adopted to USB-C.  Grin (after 10 years though).

We don't need it but photographers need that camera mega pixels, and the gamers as well as performance enthusiasts need that extra CPU power. A basic user doesn't need those features but someone who's really a power user can utilize those in the best way possible. The Apple iPhones are known for their quick performance and great camera quality, and iPhone lovers can spend a lot of money to avail every new version of the smartphone that Apple releases.

I agree the USB-C port is the best new feature in iPhones and overall the iPhone 15 is much improved from its predecessor. Although, I'm not a fan of Apple products but I still think that Apple doesn't sacrifice on quality when it comes to products. The price tag for those products is always much higher than other brands but still I believe that most other brands doesn't focus much on quality of the products.

Congratulations that's a great achievement! You spotted the 5555th merit on right time! Congratulations once again for reaching 5555 merit points.
1914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does this still count? on: September 18, 2023, 01:58:04 PM
Will this still count as an air gapped device or do I still have to remove the hard ware  networking components from the PC board?
And will it be possible for an hacker to install those drivers remotely?

I would not consider it as 100% air gapped device because only removing of networking components may not be sufficient. You might have an hidden malware in your system that you aren't aware of and that could be something troublesome. If you really want your device to be 100% air gapped then surely you'll need to format the drives and install a new operating system into it because sometimes networking components aren't disabled from bios settings and the hardware is also present in that system and due to a wrong step it can still connect to internet. I would suggest you to install a Linux based operating system instead of Windows OS because Linux is much secure and completely open-source. You should also learn about networking hardware of your system and if it's detachable then you should completely remove it from your system. You should never ever use any wifi internet dongle on that device.

And will it be possible for an hacker to install those drivers remotely?

The hackers won't be able to install the drivers remotely if they aren't close to your device but if the device has Bluetooth connectivity and the hacker is in close distance from your device then in theory that person may be able to connect to your device and install those drivers remotely. However, you really don't have to be worried about that thing if your pc doesn't have any Bluetooth connectivity built into it.

Alright I will uninstall the windows software and re install it now.
Even better - install a good Linux distro which will be more secure and more private than any Windows system (as well as being open source). You might also find that lots of modern wallet software won't run properly on old versions of Windows.

That's what I was going to say. Another good thing about Linux distros is that they are light weight and can be installed on any system even with low ram. I personally used Lubuntu on my low end desktop and it was pretty good in performance. The Linux is much safer than Windows OS especially from that decade old Windows OS's. The best thing about Linux distros is that they have support for each wallet and whatever is open-source can be compiled for it and it will work flawlessly.

This count as air gapped device but why not just invest on a hardwaware that is 100% air gapped like Keystone and Elipal instead of relying on an old PC that has the tendency of being not functional in future?
Why would an old PC not be functional? I have computers which are 20+ years old and still run just fine, whereas you can find reports of hardware wallets having their screens die after just a few years.

I'm not a fan of hardware wallets because they aren't necessary for the ones who are technically good. I agree with you the old PC's won't have any issue as long as they are running a Linux distro and they really aren't that bad for wallets but yes the user must have to be careful about the hard drives as they are mechanical in nature and can stop working anytime. An old pc with SATA SSD would work like a charm as an air gapped device, and the users don't really need to update that pc whatsoever.

1915  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A friendly reminder by the Author of Rich Dad Poor Dad should be taken serious on: September 18, 2023, 01:36:36 PM

Robert Kiyosaki, best known for his book ‘Rich Dad Poor Dad,’ recently expressed optimism about the role of cryptocurrencies in the future of finance. The author anticipates that Bitcoin could surge to $120,000 in the coming year and cautions about an impending economic crisis, suggesting that digital currencies could serve as financial refuges.

Kiyosaki urges investors to view cryptocurrencies as a bailout from government recklessness in economic management.

I have never followed that guy but yes I have read some chapters from his book "Rich Dad Poor Dad," and that was something amazing. I have listened to some of his audios and also watched his video interviews. That guy has earned a lot of money only because he released his books and that's the main source of income for him if I'm not wrong. Although, I don't take his advice seriously but still his thoughts are positive and could help someone to get better financially.

The ideas he presented about Bitcoin are completely correct and I agree with him. The Bitcoin could reach $120k or above in value during the coming bull market and it will surely be a strong competitor for fiat currencies. His views about Bitcoin's recovery are 100% correct and we all know that no matter what happens the Bitcoin will continue to gain value in its price. I won't say anything about other crypto-currencies but surely Bitcoin will flourish and it's next price will be over $100k to 120k during 2024-2025. Let's wait for that time and see what the future holds for us Bitcoiners.
1916  Other / Meta / Re: Encouraging non-lazy PM subjects (SMF patch) on: September 18, 2023, 01:05:37 PM

Anyway, this one came about from joker_josue pointing out that receiving PMs with no subject is annoying, and Loyce (effectively) nodding his head and saying "patch time?". Cheesy

Also, I've got some ideas for future patches that might allow for quickly isolating PMs by author, or subject, so phasing out (or, at least discouraging) PMs with "(No subject)" as their subject line, just seems like a good idea all-around to me.

A really nice patch for someone like joker_josue and some other members who receive so many private messages. I hope that theymos will soon implement it on forum and those users can easily read their PM's because the sender must have to select a title in order to send a Private message. Your have done a really great job by creating this patch I truly appreciate your efforts. I would love to see those patches that you're going to release in future because your patches have always helped the members of the forum and hope those ones will also be useful for the members who receive so many PM's.
1917  Other / Meta / Re: Cloudflare blocks creating new topic (Tor) on: September 18, 2023, 12:55:40 PM

The time out doesn't take long and my text is gone.
I tried 3 times, same result.

Edit: Cloudflare lets me post this.

Edit: I tried again: I can Preview, but can't create a topic on the Electrum board.

--Knight Hider

I don't know the solution will work for you or not but I have done that on Tor in past when the website wasn't accessible due to cloudflare's issue. I have basically forced Tor to use France based IP addresses and the site worked well with France based IP's for me. I then created a topic to share the whole thing so that someone else using Tor may get help by applying the settings that worked for me.

Here's the link of the thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5459254.msg62527806#msg62527806

This is pretty common problem when using tor here on bitcointalk considering the forum uses cloudflare.

All you can do is try again and again, although you can wait for the tor users on what remedy they are using.

The user's who prefer privacy will always use Tor on Bitcointalk or any other website. I personally don't care about Tor but that's the main reason why people use Tor. Those users don't want to be tracked by Cloudflare and want to be anonymous would use Tor to browse any site. I know that Bitcointalk is really unstable on Tor but still if someone uses it then it's their own choice.

1918  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake phishing on: September 18, 2023, 12:42:29 PM
BTC so been playing on stake for 3 years.
Last Sunday my balance went from 8 k to 10k I got phishing mail and I clicked thinking it was legit bonus as I was nearing level up.
I was phished and my funds were gambled on 3 bets.
I was surprised why hacker didn't cashout. May be 2FA.

First of all it would be hard for Stake to believe that you lost your balance due to someone else's intervention. Even if they listen to your story then still you won't be able to provide valid proof that you were a victim of a phishing attack. The Stake.com may refund your balance but it's really unlikely to happen. Sometimes gamblers lose their bets and they can come up with similar story but I believe you're telling truth and if you're lucky then Stake will listen to your story and may refund you the balance that you've lost.

But biggest surprise was phishing link received after certain amount reached. Could hacker potentially be scanning wallet and only trying to scam for bigger account?

I don't know if an hacker can access the internal wallets of the users and if so then they may also have access to e-mail addresses of the users because it's literally impossible to send phishing link to someone without knowing their e-mail address.

I wont doubht that because I am not the first one being phished and funds stolen/misused. I see time to time victims and stake does not try to improve its security or they don't care about their players at all.

Well, it's user's fault who gets phished and if a casino refunds those affected users then it's their goodness. A reputed casino like Stake isn't responsible for someone technical weaknesses but still if they think about refunding those users then it's their generosity.

After loosing funds I was so angry and try every avenue to acknowledge Eddie and their tech support but I havent even gotten 1 reply from them yet.

Just venting and warning other users that stake.com is not safe and more certainly they don't care if their security is poor. They will just say account security is players responsibility.

Be safe out there and try to avoid suck irresponsible site.

Peace .

I know that you have lost funds and anyone who losses funds will have similar reaction as yours but still it's not fair to call Stake.com unsafe because of someone's own fault. Account security has always been players responsibility and if someone gets phished or hacked then the casinos won't be responsible for such thing. I know it's really hard to bear a loss of $8k but sometimes we learn big lessons from our own mistakes. I will say again that it would be generosity of Stake if they refund your balance.
1919  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Referral bonuses are waste of time on: September 17, 2023, 10:16:25 PM
Influencers take this seriously as we are all know that once they are in the that situation then it's easy money for them cause everytime thier referral code will be use to thier subscribers and thier followers then they will earn a lot of money from the referral and from casino. So they will stick to that casino for the maintime. And if there's a biggest offer they will go for it.

Yes, it's always an easy way for them to earn money and they do it whenever they get the chance. The subscribers or followers will always register through their links and sometimes those influencers try their best to share their own referral code and somehow psychologically make those situations where the subscribers or followers will add that code during registration. That way the influencers earn their profit and even if the subscribers or followers lose all of their money the influencer's pockets will get filled from both sides. Sometimes those casinos offer top influencers extra privileges and on those times they earn more profits from the referral program.
1920  Other / Meta / Re: Without merit... on: September 17, 2023, 09:59:54 PM
But see it this way, without merit how can you rate a post?
because with merit distribution in this Forum that's how we rate quality post...
Without merit is there any other way of rating a post?

Without merit it's still possible to rate a post. When you see someone post is appreciated by most of the users or it's quoted by many users then that shows the post has some value and is somehow helping others. Meriting a quality post is helpful for the forum because the member who receives those merits will try to increase his/her posts quality even further after getting those merits.

When a post contain a lot of information but still that post hasn't got any merits then in such case when someone reads the post and finds it valuable will try to reply to that post and show his/her appreciation for the information. I still believe that high quality posts receive merits even if it take them a lot of time.
