1901  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Operation Shitcoin Cleanout and Clean Up Has Begun- Join the Revolution on: March 25, 2014, 04:12:08 PM
This thread has really taken off. Good to see that the community has finally decided to take a stance against scamcoins.
1902  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT overtakes doge coin on: March 25, 2014, 04:00:50 PM
So this coin NXT is trying to compete with a coin named DOGE? Well since DOGE is a joke, I wonder where that puts NXT coin?
1903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XPM Primecoin 2014 on: March 25, 2014, 03:56:21 PM
Hi,

But what hаppened to this coin? Why its price is so low right now? There were rumors for the big future of the coin in 2014 and it is crashing on every market!

BR,

Gondel

Rumors have a way of turning out to be false most of the time Wink
1904  Economy / Auctions / Re: MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display 16GB RAM 500GB SSD w/ GT 650M GPU on: March 24, 2014, 03:02:29 AM
I'll bid 1.2BTC
1905  Economy / Speculation / Re: Should I buy $10,000 worth of BTC right now? on: March 23, 2014, 02:41:02 PM
I'd wait a few weeks before buying. Even if it doesn't go down much, it's unlikely the price is going to climb up substantially in the next few months, so we may be presented with a better buying opportunity than this.
1906  Economy / Speculation / Re: How can collapse of USD affect bitcoin? on: March 23, 2014, 02:38:42 PM
It could put a lot of exchanges out of business I guess. More people would be trading BTC for goods than for fiat maybe.
1907  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't panic on: March 23, 2014, 02:36:30 PM
It would have to drop at least below $400 for me to start panicking.
1908  Economy / Speculation / Re: Don't panic on: March 21, 2014, 01:09:03 PM
We haven't seen any crashes like last April's crash. Now that was panic. This price movement is still boring...
1909  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you spend BTC daily in brick and mortar stores? on: March 21, 2014, 12:46:26 PM
It depends on their policies regarding BTC payments. Most stores here have a policy of refunding payments in the same form so cash gets refunded with cash, debit with debit, CC with CC. Also, how long I'd have to wait after making the payment. I'm not going to attend around for a few minutes waiting for a payment to go through unless it's something of substantial value.
1910  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just moved half of my funds off Bitstamp back into nice safe and warm Bank Konto on: March 21, 2014, 04:46:31 AM
If the banking system collapses, then btc price will collapse too. Btc demand is fueled mostly by wires of fiat from bank accounts from speculators.

Shusht!

Be quiet!

You're not meant to say these things! People on this place actually think that Bitcoin is a hedge against collapse of USD and that when the USD actually does collapse, that we are all going to happily exchange things of real value and use for lines of algorithmic computer code backed by no real commodity and backed by absolutely no standing authority! Those of us that have most of these lines of code are going to be the richest!

Looking at the threads on the speculation forum now. One is talking about $1000 BTC, another $10k, and a third mentions $1 million bitcoins. And there's a few people on there saying $1 million is a conservative estimate.  I agree with your sentiments above. While I do see potential in bitcoin, a lot of people seem to be delusionally bullish.
1911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: small miners we are all $crewed KNC scrypt 100 mega hashes on: March 20, 2014, 03:45:16 AM
I think this can potentially spell the death for many of the Scrypt alts. Not that that's a bad thing Smiley
1912  Other / Meta / Re: Top Posters on: March 20, 2014, 02:57:17 AM
There's some guy who registered 4 months ago and has nearly 4000 posts https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=158505

At this rate, he'll be one of the top posters by the end of the year Shocked

1914  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Wallet for Android / Re: Broke touchscreen, How do I get my coins off Bitcoin Wallet? on: March 19, 2014, 10:28:38 PM
Maybe you can hook it up to your TV with a microUSB to HDMI connector and see if it displays anything. I don't know if your phone supports that though. You could also try to replace the screen I guess if the phone itself is still working. Or maybe hook it up to your PC and see if you can access the wallet file.
1915  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will not hit the $10,000 mark this year :( on: March 19, 2014, 10:21:24 PM
Given all the recent bad news, I think it's more likely that another exchange goes down this year than BTC hitting $10K.
1916  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 19, 2014, 10:11:33 PM
We're going down. The question is, how far exactly?
1917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Juba - The first cryptographic coin to promote peace in the Middle East! on: March 19, 2014, 03:46:49 AM

1918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai 400 Bitcoin ATMs in 2 weeks on: March 19, 2014, 03:18:50 AM
I don't see the utility in having an indoor ski resort either, but this is Dubai... they have oil money leaking out of their pores and have a lot of money to do a lot of unnecessary things.... like invest in Bitcoin for example.  Wink

This is a great thing for Bitcoin.

Your post led me to try to find Arabic sites that mention bitcoin. Turns out that bitcoin has been featured on many of the large media outlets there. Also, I found that most of the Arabic forums that have people posting about bitcoin are Egyptian and Saudi. Mostly Egyptians though.

I've yet to see a single shred of evidence this is true aside from that tweet.

Searching for bitcoin dubai mostly brings up stuff about a pizza joint and that reddit post.
1919  Economy / Speculation / Re: WTF is going on!? on: March 18, 2014, 03:41:27 PM
I think LTC is going up because Huobi just added it. It'll probably come back down in a day or two.
1920  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dubai 400 Bitcoin ATMs in 2 weeks on: March 18, 2014, 03:38:30 PM
I don't see the value in deploying so many Bitcoin ATMs in one city unless there's a lot of demand for it. There's one close to where I live but they charge a hefty premium to convert fiat to bitcoin. I read somewhere that there was a guy standing near the ATM offering to sell bitcoins cheaper than the ATMs price.
