19141  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox SierraChart bridge - Realtime Bitcoin charts on: May 17, 2011, 02:45:54 AM
this is good but does it do realtime during off hours (NYSE closing) or in middle of night?

Of course. This is absolutely independent on any external subject. Actually script is downloading data from mtgox (using web services) and storing them to Sierrachart's proprietary dataformat to local disk. SierraChart then update graph (in realtime) from this file...

i downloaded it this afternoon successfully but the feed stopped at 11:00.  there is a green "OL" at bottom right of chart; i assume i'm still logged on but its stuck at this time for some reason?
19142  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox->SierraChart bridge = Realtime Bitcoin charts on: May 17, 2011, 02:43:04 AM
That is awesome.

Now hook it up to the MTGox API so we can trade off of chart clicks and then we'll be getting somewhere.

what is the mtgox API?
19143  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox SierraChart bridge - Realtime Bitcoin charts on: May 17, 2011, 02:42:28 AM
it is a commercial software, once the trial period is over you can still use some basic function and charting too with slush plugin.

Thanks for making this clear. Yes, this mtgox plugin and realtime charting work even with expired trial of SierraChart.

very cool.  was worried about that.  i will use it!
19144  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: MtGox SierraChart bridge - Realtime Bitcoin charts on: May 17, 2011, 02:41:04 AM
SierraChart is desktop application providing a professional Trading, Real-time and Historical Charting, and Technical Analysis platform for the financial markets. It's not so intuitive as other platforms, but once you learn how it works (and remember few shortcuts), it is very strong tool for professional technical analysis. Because of lacking real trading tools for Bitcoin economy, I decided to write simple Mtgox->Sierrachart bridge, which enable real time Mtgox charting in Sierrachart.

How to start
  • 1. Download and install SierraChart software (use default settings and data directory)
  • 2. Download SierraChart feed for MtGox market.
  • 3. Start feed in a console (no parameters required, list of all parameters: sierrachartfeed.exe --help)
  • 4. Start SierraChart software
  • 5. Go to File->New/Open Intraday Chart and select mtgoxUSD.scid
  • 6. Customize your view using F5 (chart settings) and F6 (analysis/studies) menus
  • 7. Enjoy real time mtgox charting!

After those steps, you should see something similar like following image:

Used settings/indicators in this screenshot: 60min candles, Volume, Current price line, Moving Average-Exponential, vertical line every week. There are hundreds of other indicators and studies. I'm sure you will find something which fit your needs...

Linux support
Older Sierrachart releases works also in Linux under Wine. Main charting functionality in older versions is the same, they improved mainly DOM and trading functionality, which is disabled anyway on mtgox. Last version I tested on Linux was 559 (details: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18961), but maybe some newer version will work, too. Downloads of older Sierrachart releases: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=SCInstallerList.php

sierrachartfeed.exe is using mtgox's websocket API for real time updates and bitcoincharts.com for downloading historical mtgox prices. Thanks tcatm for providing this API. Bitcoincharts.com currently provide 3 day history for everybody, longer history will be probably available for some small fee.

Source for sierrachartfeed.exe is available here.

Try the -rescan command, and if that doesn't work..

Try this, backup your wallet.dat, and delete everything in that same folder, and then copy back the wallet.dat (or just delete everything except wallet.dat..

And start up Bitcoin again and allow all of the blocks to reconfirm themselves (will take several hours)

isn't that what i just did by deleting old client and installing new client with block chain download?
19146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Another 0/unconfirmed x 7 days on: May 16, 2011, 05:08:14 PM
sorry on that last line.  i HAD client version 0.3.20.1 but now have 0.3.21.2.
19147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Another 0/unconfirmed x 7 days on: May 16, 2011, 04:49:53 PM
i need your help.  could you look at this block: http://blockexplorer.com/address/1JkgETnQJQ6PXhTCQYpi3aqPiSHMggbvfN

this is a withdrawal of 258.20 btc from my mtgox acct that is received but greyed out and 0/unconfirmed in my client.  the date and time received in my client is 5/9/11 20:02 and the time of the withdrawal in my acct history at mtgox is 5/10/11 03:02.

i've been back and forth about this with Mark Karpeles who says the tx on his end looks fine.  Theymos has graciously tried to help me but recommended i bring this problem to you all.  also Theymos looked at the block and says theres 1257 confirmations.  he thinks there is a problem with btc somewhere.

i deleted old client and downloaded new version 0.3.21.2, reloaded new block chain which is up to date with active connections.  obviously data directory is new as well.  but still no fix.

i'm using a MacBook Pro and the client version is 0.3.20.1 Beta.  Currently showing 124382 blocks with 3 connections.
19148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning: Bitcoin4Cash fraud! Won't ever do business with Madhatter again. on: May 16, 2011, 02:49:19 AM
i'm willing to bet that it was a life or death decision for Madhatter.  the way the price was escalating at such a parabolic ramp, i'm sure investors were logically locking prices left and right making a killing off of Madhatter.  what is a fixed rate quote anyway?  its effectively a SHORT against btc.  after all, he's in it to make money; he was willing to fix a price thinking he could buy it cheaper later after the fix (this is the short part) and make money doing so.  the parabolic ramp isn't good for everybody; it kills short sellers.
19149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning: Bitcoin4Cash fraud! Won't ever do business with Madhatter again. on: May 16, 2011, 02:43:28 AM
i'm sure he wasn't hedged in any way.  how could u be?
You hedge your own position by buying the coins when you guarantee the price.

that takes tremendous discipline.  theres a natural tendency to try and wait for the price to come back under the price u just guaranteed.  its easy for a bull mkt to run away from you.

The price could just as well go up over the price you guaranteed which means you are ate a loss. There is no such thing as a natural tendency to gamble with other peoples money.

i hope ur kidding.  what do banksters do everyday?  gamble with OPM thru fractional reserve lending to infinity.
19150  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: GLBSE client VMware appliance on: May 15, 2011, 11:52:08 PM
so i can download this onto a USB stick?  can it only be run thru a Windows computer or a Mac too?  does the VMWare install go on the USB stick too?

from the sounds of things and his lack of response, i'm sure he wasn't hedged in any way.  how could u be?  there aren't really any effective ways to do this in a market that's going straight up.  yes, these large sums of money will root out the unscrupulous.  Madhatter was somewhat truculent  with me as well although i was smart enough to pick this up early and not do any business with him.

buy:20@1500000000:SIN:1305343055

Ouch, someone just spent 300BTC instead of 15BTC if I'm reading this correctly...

Rest assured, only .75/BTC will be paid for each share, regardless of what is offered, until all of the shares I am selling are sold (unless someone puts theirs up for sale for less of course.)

In other news, as of right now, 199 shares have been sold (enough to almost buy two rigs, so we're slowly getting to the start line!)

Tawsix-u made an excellent video presentation.  i commend u.  u also sound like a straight shooter and ur posts are clear.  too bad ur rating is so immature at this pt otherwise i'd invest.  be careful about that dividend thing.  u might want to ask nefario what the real expectations are for distributing profits.  i thought that all profits HAD to be distributed to shareholders to get them their initial investment back asap since this is so speculative.  don't expect to run ur company like the stupid Wall Street companies that don't seem to think they have to pay dividends anymore.  investors will shy away when they hear u talk like them.  a good argument for dividend distribution is that look how easy ur able to print shares out of thin air and sell them with NO regulations or upfront costs.  all the advantages r tilted towards you.  don't even have to tell ur name.  this is the Wild West of stock trading.

crazy bid huh?  i wonder how bm executed that one?  does it just buy 20 sh @ .75 btc or 20 sh @ 15 btc?  or does it buy 300 btc worth of SIN @ .75 btc or @ 15 btc?
19157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whole lot of trading happening over at GLBSE on: May 14, 2011, 11:45:06 AM
Nefario,

u still haven't updated the Tutorial?  how do u expect ppl to navigate when they don't have the correct command line instructions?  ex: bmc user is listed.  as you know its bmc.py user

also the Windows installer instructions still aren't clear.  i don't see the step where u need to move7-8 files into a bm folder.

thank goodness Cuddlefish got me set up on 1 computer from which i do all my trading.  i still can't get it setup on a 2nd PC at work which would facilitate my trading.

i've posted many times on the forum about this.  i agree with you.
