1921  Economy / Reputation / Re: Roobet.com not paying on their mistakes on: December 07, 2019, 03:56:12 AM
Actually every bet you win or lose is displayed in a box on the left. On roulette ot shows all the bettors and their amounts in each round. Then when the wheel is done spinning, the winners are displayed in green with the amount they won, and losers are shown in red with - at their amount bet.

I was talking (and I think Welsh was too) about the win amount. Were you ever shown that you could or did win $11+ thousand or was it your calculation based on your bet times 36?
In the box I just showed you up above $11,662 and some change was shown won.

Ok, I take it back then. That is more fucked up than I thought. I'm starting to think you have grounds for a flag.
@Suchmoon, sorry to say this but that is just more of your confirmation bias that has been visible in this thread since you first responded. You are hell-bent on the technicality, completely ignoring the fact that OP has said from the beginning that he "knew the limit" but he "misclicked". If it was a misclick, quite clearly he wasn't hoping to get (353 X 36).

I would give the benefit of doubt to a user who was, say, actually hoping to get 11K by risking 353 USD. How does that come into picture when OP has said:
  • He knew 2k USD was the max limit
  • He misclicked which means he wasn't intending to bet the whole amount in the first place

In my opinion, the grouse is that even though he won, he isn't getting as much money as he possibly can. Either by holding the casino accountable on a technicality, or by them offering to meet him halfway. That is why I see this thread and the flag as little more than "persuasion".

Like someone said in the beginning, INTENT MATTERS. While you want to stick to the technicality, you (and a lot of others) are willing to ignore the grey area of INTENT. This would not have been the case if the tables were turned. If Roobet has been an established Sig campaign payer and a newbie had come up with the same "misclick", everyone would have been telling them "Dude you won 2K USD, Don't get greedy, I am sure that 2K USD is like a 1000 days of lunch-money for you". We would also be having a lot of virtue-signalling and uncomfortable questioning about the circumstances of said misclick.

I am interested to know what you make out from these two statement:
I was told that they are also fixing the site where you cannot bet more then the max payout would be.

You were well aware that this was not fixed yet and you accidentally placed a bet with a value that could not pay over the max profit.

If i started a website as a developer with my own time and money in this increasingly getting desolate corner of bitcoin ecosystem (where people seem to think that adoption will come from casinos and mixers), had someone trustworthy know about the max bet, and then have the same person come back and try to extort, I'll be salty as fuck. Especially when i have been respecting the said person because apparently they have a reputation.

OP has pointed out that they are not responding. Well, they have responded initially and its quite possible that they are waiting to see which way the wind blows. Reputations can get shattered in an instant here if you are up against BCT's "Big boy's club".

PS: I have been going on and on about this "INTENT" thing in my previous replies. I have also been pointing out how this space is increasingly getting sycophantic and hierarchic where people don't want to rub the established members the wrong way. Nobody of any reputation seem to want to share thoughts on this. Am i the only one who is feeling this way??? Somebody please let me know if that is the case.

I wish someone like @QuestionAuthority were here. I am glad that at least @TMAN said that its a 50-50.

1922  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price prediction for before/after new year on: December 05, 2019, 03:23:53 AM
a lot of us weren't expecting the rally that occurred at the end of 2017 too. Bitcoin simply does bitcoin things.
Weren't we?? Especially after all the ICO craze and everyone going crazy with Coinbase. There was talk about blockchain being integrated into all sort of industries. Lot of vaporware that nobody understood. There is nothing of that sort this time.

The rally can only come with increasing economic activity which is bottlenecked by legislations the world over. Ina another scenario, there can be a rally because everyone is expecting a rally. If a whale does their manipulation thing long enoough for FOMO to set-in, we may well have another rally. All in all, always a good time to buy as holiday season approaches and more people in Christian lands have spare time to pore over bitcoin.
1923  Economy / Reputation / Re: Roobet.com not paying on their mistakes on: December 05, 2019, 03:15:09 AM
Any discussion about accidentally click is meaningless, he could also lose then he would be to blame for his loss, but it is not, he wins and casino refuse to pay them.

This community is seriously becoming sycophantic and a circlejerk.

If this had been a newbie account, the first question would have been "So you misclicked, huh?". They would then have been flayed on the point that "So you knew they were fixing the bug". How many times have you seen discussions regarding newbies explaining their "honest mistakes" and the community coming down heavily on them.

Yahoo has a reputation for being professional. He should get his extra bet refunded and any bug bounty that the casino wants to offer. Yet, all these people coming here conveniently accepting that his mistake is not even open for discussion, aren't being completely unbiased.
1924  Economy / Services / Re: I can assist in cryptotalk.org bounty on: December 04, 2019, 12:41:36 PM
This is just one example of how you can lose your account when someone else writes you posts : Account banned for plagiarism

Cant agree more.

It's about developing trust. Once both parties develop trust that OP is not giving plagiarized posts and receiver is paying in return. Things can move smoothly.

People who have time do it themselves  but there are ppl who due to busy schedule time cant spare time. My service will benefit them.
This "service" of posting on someone's else's behalf helps nobody. Ethically its like getting someone else to do your homework by offering them candy money. That automatically makes the trust go down the drain.
Anonymity does allow you to offer such a service and for people to opt for it by making secret magical pacts. Potential buyers should also consider that this may simply be a counter-espionage operation being run by scam hunters...LOL..Who knows??

To OP, writing that many meaningful posts is no small thing. I am sure you can utilize that time and effort in a much better way..Go finish some courses on edX or Coursera. I have been planning to finish CS50 since ages. Go do that. They even have one on android app development now..Thanks me later..
1925  Economy / Reputation / Re: Roobet.com not paying on their mistakes on: December 04, 2019, 12:14:08 PM
This question is the MOST IMPORTANT

You knew there was a bug that was currently being fixed that could allow this to take place= YES OR NO?

If it is YES then you have no leg to stand on.

He did say this in the initial post:
I was told that they are also fixing the site where you cannot bet more then the max payout would be.

So I guess he did know. Yet, people here are basically trying to convince this BTC upstart to "pay up in the name of professionalism". This is pretty self-centered hand wringing. If its all so professional, maybe people should stop talking in such glowing terms about the philanthrophic and idealistic vision behind bitcoin. Just accept that its all money, honey.

I would love to quote the story about "people inside the money machines of the world" that i read on the blog of some old adopter here. It was in the Signature of one of the prominent members. Can't find it at present.
1926  Economy / Reputation / Re: Roobet.com not paying on their mistakes on: December 04, 2019, 10:11:48 AM
Intent matters though.
--snip--

IMO what's most fair:

A settlement payment of some sort would be best because there is negligence in both parties. Paying out the full 9k is excessive but somewhere along the lines of x0.3 - x0.5 of the win amount would be appropriate.

Man this is exploitation...!!! Yahoo accepts that he knows the maximum amount is capped at 2KUSD.
Now, I am well aware that the max win is $2000, I am not disputing that fact 1 bit. I am also aware that they are fixing a load of bugs I pointed out in their dice game, also the reason their dice is not working right now. Their support took my advice and is taking care of the problem. I was told that they are also fixing the site where you cannot bet more then the max payout would be.

He says his over-bet was a "misclick". This conveniently gives him the leverage that "Would the casino refund his over bet amount if he did not win?". If you look at the conversation as well as the chats with their support, it looks like the problem had been solved between them. Now, by flagging them, he is using his considerable clout to label them as dishonest and a scam. It is understandable that letting go 9K is a big deal.

At the risk of earning a lot of ire, I'd say a lot of things don't seem entirely "honest" on Yahoo's side too. He says "It was a misclick". The casino says "you were well aware as you told us not to allow bets over max wins and we were implementing it".
You made this request to not allow this to happen, very apparent, in our forum launch post and as stated - we will rolling out an update for this along with our dice bug fixes (when dice comes back online). You were well aware that this was not fixed yet and you accidentally placed a bet with a value that could not pay over the max profit.

Now, could this be an honest mistake on the casino's side that the devs did not envisage this scenario. It could be because, well, why would we have "bugs" in the code then?
Is the "misclick" an honest mistake on Yahoo's part and then asking them to meet them on the middle in terms of the "compensation" he deserves?? And then opening this flag against them knowing they need to defend their position?? Well, that is a matter of opinion as well as what you think about Yahoo. It is clearly as subjective judgement, the leverage of which lies entirely with Yahoo who is a well-respected member of the community.

Roobet are an upstart. They had a good sig campaign going around and are just gaining ground. BTC ecosystem needs these startups. Members like Yahoo and the other DTs/ Legendaries going with the reasoning "Well they did it, they should pay up" must consider that this is not entirely convincing in Yahoo's favor. I think they have been responsive and if the flag continues, it'll be nothing else but exploitation of the considerable leverage that people like Yahoo have here.

I just feel sad that at the end, its always Money that wins.

PS: I want to add that the whole point above should be read in the light of Yahoo not being "The Yahoo" but some normal account. People know that Yahoo is trustworthy and professional. Imagine if a relatively unknown account said, I "misclicked", people wouldn't be so quick to give the benefit of doubt. Aspersions are raised on much smaller issues here at the forum. In giving Yahoo the benefit that it was an honest mistake, shouldn't Roobet be given some leeway for being a BTC upstart (What do i know, they may be loaded for all i know), considering they have been responsive and paid in earlier mistake too. They should probably add some bug bounty like last time.
1927  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Why don't we have bitcoin smart contract? on: December 04, 2019, 07:36:33 AM
While bitcoin may not have "smart-contract" implementation, there have been multiple initiatives in implementing smart contract as a bitcoin sidechain. Rootstock was talked about a lot once. Then there was the language Simplicity. I am not sure what is the progress on these concepts.

These were meaningful extensions of the bitcoin network. Although, we seem to have gone full "Bitcoin should only be used as SoV", a lot of original developers are the ones who diversified this vision too. In a way, they are all part of bitcoin.
The best scenario for crypto-economy would be to have the Pro-Dapp community and the maximalist community on the same page.

Thanks @Roobet and @Hhampuz for the campaign. I wish Roobet much success, much wow in coming days.

Also, Pleasure is all ours in working with you Hhampuz. Thanks for your professional yet grounded approach. Roobet will be a success with their professional approach and quick response to issues. They refunded Yahoo for an issue raised in their dice game and some additional bounty for pointing out the bug. All the best to their team.
1931  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Hodler, you motherfucker. on: November 30, 2019, 12:12:02 PM
Each person holding crypto might have very different needs, incomes or ways to spend their time. I'd say, along the lines of BTC being the most permissive form of money, everybody is free to use it as they please. Profit might be the goal, or maybe not. Who knows what obscure reasoning might be behind each individual's decision to hold crypto, but there's very little to be done about it.  Cheesy

Agree, we are learning from everyone's mistakes, if someone are holding tokens and turned out to be scam, then we are realizing things that we should be very careful with the coins/tokens that we are investing at, it's not good that we are just investing because they are new and seems legit, we should validate things by making a solid proof that they  are really a legit one.
How the hell is your reply about "being careful with coins/ tokens" related to his comment about people holding crypto for different, obscure reasons and not necessarily for profit??! Roll Eyes
1932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin-Satoshi Conference 2020 (Dubai) on: November 30, 2019, 12:08:34 PM
I will arrange there a Bitcoin Dance and Dinner Party.

I might invite His Majesty the Ruler of Dubai in the  opening ceremony  of the Bitcoin-Satoshi Blockchain Conference.  May I request you to facilitate with me?
I really like the idea of a "Bitcoin Dance". Could we have it to the tune of "Will the real Saaa-Toshi, Please stand up, please stand up"!! If nothing else, it'll be fun to watch Craig Wright stand up and dance. He truly believes that the world needs Satoshi Nakamoto and he seems to have convinced himself that he is the real deal.

Bitcoin price could have gone to the moon by this time but something has gone seriously wrong. Some group, some how doing something wrong to stop bitcoin price running faster because they want to control the market for their selfish greed. Therefore, a good solution to the problem is needed to fix the problem. A good conference need to be organised and discuss the mater related to Bitcoin Market and Blockchain industry.
Thanks.

This sounds so made up. Maybe you should get someone to do good PR for you if you are going to plan a conference at this scale. People like Samson, Andreas, Jimmy Song turn up everywhere all the time. If you want to get good publicity, you should actually get McAfee on board. He has really been sticking his neck out for the libertarian ideals by straight up refusing to pay taxes..
1933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This is big news for Germany Bitcoiners out there! on: November 30, 2019, 08:54:39 AM

This just proves what I was saying, that banks are interested in Bitcoin and to offer to the clients Bitcoin related services. They didn't want to destroy Bitcoin like many thought but tried to find the way how to get into the game.
This is big news and probably a role model for many banks, especialy in Europe so we'll see how this will develope during the time.
I think we should wait till the actual bill and its content are released before popping the champagne. Who knows if they will allow Bitcoin to be traded or will just make their own bank coin for use throughout EU. This is the more probable outcome as they may want to follow China's lead.

Although why would anyone want a central bank issued cryptocurrency is something i just don't understand. Like what possible benefit does bitcoin offers in terms of pure functionality to a bank, as compared to their online clearance system/ payment operators?? Nothing..The benefits that it does offer are to the common people. All the banks may be interested in is to not lose the potential business that the old holders can bring.
1934  Economy / Speculation / Re: Here is why Bitcoin can only go down on: November 30, 2019, 05:32:29 AM
Bitcoin is not just numbers and hashes and addresses. Its main strength is adoption, network effect and a time-tested community of developers, users and businesses that trust the fact that it has no centralized authority, That is a lot of stuff that Motorola did not need to consider when it started manufacturing mobiles or when any of the others copied them.

All the other bags you hold have compromised at times or have centralized figureheads. Stop spewing bullshit and go back to whatever BCash or Craig Wright shit hole you are coming from.
1935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: Immaculate Conception and Original Sin on: November 30, 2019, 05:21:32 AM
I can understand your thinking and it does get confusing between all the shilling from BCH, BCHSV etc. Yet, your trying to make sense of it using Bible is little more than a literary curiosity.
Something like BCHSV is easily forgotten because of the conceited, lying people that have rallied behind it. The BCash community does have some credit to it because of the claims that a lot of old timers support it. Gavin being one. Yet, i think Gavin has been there mostly because Roger Ver has chosen to back him in his ego clash with the core devs over his bitcoin client implementation.

The path they have chosen of huge blocks is anyways unsustainable and goes against the core ethos of decentralization. Especially considering that their single most prominent backer is a mining equipment manufacturer. They are happy to tag along and do manipulative shit to get their way (Selling Bcash as Bitcoin to newbies on their website).
It is clear for anyone to see that which side is working and evolving while sticking to its "Core" principles (pun intended) and which side is ready to make easy changes and then go the easy path of shilling and marketing a "cheaper alternative" to the newbies.

1936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's hard to spend Crypto - Make adopters out of entrepreneurs on: November 30, 2019, 05:10:30 AM
I get it if large retailers aren't interested. Why would they it's more work for them and training. However a small business running with minimal staff could esaily adopt the practice. Ideally they would manage their own wallet and become a coiner themselves. Hell even just holding back 3-5% in the coins themselves and converting the rest would be a nice step in the right direction.
Large oragnized retailers cannot do it because it has to be an organization level thing for them. If BTC isn't in a legal ambiguous state in your country then i think the best bet is to find target individual shops and stores. Particularly those who are related to technology. Computer hardware sellers, Consumer Electronics, Mobile retailers, Mobile/ cellphone service providers.

Apart from these a lot of service providers like Accountants, Lawyers etc would be interested in this. This will help them in getting familiar with something that is going to directly affect their own services. These are some of the people I would have chosen to proselytize if i had the option to.

And @Steamtyme, I have seen your posts in the mining section and it would be great if you can share some thoughts on this topic i started regarding option for mining.
1937  Local / India / Re: Tracing down the coins from Co-Insecure hack on: November 30, 2019, 04:23:21 AM
A lot of people waiting for this to resolve. Having Benson screwed over like that was terrible for the Indian bitcoin community, Just goes to show that you cannot trust anyone here. That guy Saxena was supposed to be a phD. If a research candidate has such ethics then God help us commoners.
The painful transaction trail doesn't seem to be leading anywhere though except that the stolen funds have been moved through mixers and exchanges like they normally do in these cases. Also, I don't know if you've taken his permission for this but you should avoid being the person who links someone's name to their forum identity.
Its better if you edit it.

Gosh..I have been missing all the parties lately?

1 month left is 2020. I think if you can reach 100 merit in 1 month this is will be great work.
Just never give up to reach your rank to Hero Member.

1939  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Status of WEX (World Exchange Services) on: November 28, 2019, 03:04:55 AM
Does anyone ever wonder that where exactly are those hundreds of thousands of bitcoin that have ended up being scammed or laundered by the exchanges till now?
Is there any record of the various people, anonymous or known, and those addresses where these humongous amounts of hacked/ stolen/ scammed funds have ended up. In a lot of these cases, i guess even the original perpetrators may have turned against each other in a Mexican standoff way.

Another thing to speculate on is that the only organisations with enough resources to follow these people out of their anonymity are Law enforcement agencies. So I guess the biggest gainers from the whole sorry sagas could be the investigation officers!!

EDIT: I was trying to read the long ass BBC report, not even sure what part of it is true and what part propaganda. Its bloody hard to follow it because of all the non-familiar Russian sounding names. I am all confused if they are talking about Bilyuchenko ,Zhulanova, Malofeev or what. Still trying!
1940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the next Bitcoin halvening could be the most dramatic one yet on: November 27, 2019, 02:45:22 PM
After this halving, the coinbase reward will drop to 6.25 BTC. The price then has a direct affect on miner profitability. Historically this has been taken care of by the bull run. This time around Bitcoin is no longer new. It has become pretty mainstream. I think the affect on price now can only be driven by institutional investors.

This in turn is driven by whether institutional services for bitcoin can be a source of profit or not. The major institutions involved now are exchanges, trading apps, DAO like MAKR etc. If they are making a profit on their activities, they'd like to hoard more BTC to provide services to a wider consumer base. This is something we will come to know just before the halving.

This can be pretty much a moment of truth because BTC will be going into this halving with full mainstreaming. Its no longer a novelty that will make people invest before they can understand it. For the common population of developed countries, who are running the risk of losing savings to Govt debts, i think BTC is a must-have hedge. BTC is going to be integrated into its own peer-to-peer economy and it will continue to hold value as its economics is not limited by national borders and trade agreements.
