1921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bring the price of Bitcions up with Publicity - Bumper Stickers? on: June 25, 2013, 02:28:05 PM
I am however curious of one thing, and that is what "Bitcions" means exactly in OP's thread title?
1922  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Using Bitcoin Block Hashes For Random Numbers on: June 25, 2013, 01:12:25 PM
Hashes are NOT random.... nor do they contain 'random' bits.

I have collected significant meta data examples of them coalescing into 'groups' , Iv'e not had any luck on generating a formula, but there ARE definite semi-predictable patterns.

It's not really useful from the point of reducing nonce search ranges (because by the time you have run the calculations to do an exclusion, you could have just searched the range)

Also since you would be using data that is publicly available to generate random numbers.......... need I say more...

If you want random numbers, then there are better systems.

I knew they were predictable, I just knew it. Would you be able to share some more information on this as well?
1923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 3 blocks in 14 minutes by same guy??? on: June 25, 2013, 12:12:22 AM
I guess it's some chinese private pool.
1924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 3 blocks in 14 minutes by same guy??? on: June 24, 2013, 11:33:42 PM
It's indeed mined by the same guy as the coinbase message is the same. I guess it must be an ASIC owner. The IP is from China.
1925  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: help, bitcoin transfer sent, 3 blocks passed and still no confirmation on: June 24, 2013, 06:11:48 PM
Could it be because the sender dont enough fund to make the transaction (I know, the block explorer shows 0.8, I just don't know what to do, this kind of situation should be in FAQ, I search and nothing came back, so frustrating!  Cry)

So, I just have to wait? how long should I wait?

EDIT:

I just saw the response about the low priority of the transaction. Thank you guys!
Those that don't have enough funds can't send money at all, unless they modify the client, in which case it will be rejected by the network.
1926  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: help, bitcoin transfer sent, 3 blocks passed and still no confirmation on: June 24, 2013, 05:59:21 PM
Well, the TX uses a big output, so that's not the problem, but the problem would be that the output of 0.80BTC which were used for the 0.59 BTC transactions is still not mature enough, and perhaps the fee is a bit low, but still there's a fee.
1927  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: VirtualCL / 2x Quad HD 7990 on: June 24, 2013, 03:26:04 PM
Most people here use custom cooling solutions, however improvised they may be.

Also, while I understand your question is non-Bitcoin related, you may want to pursue ASIC development for your goals. ASIC means a much more efficient device, that does more work for far less power.
1928  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 7970 broken :( on: June 24, 2013, 12:11:02 PM
Fans go crazy? Been there done that. It's basically the card losing power while mining. For me, it was the vibrations + loose connector.
1929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 512-qubit Quantum Computer acquired, is bitcoin doomed? on: June 22, 2013, 12:10:49 PM
Try actually reading this article.

My eyes glazed over 1/3 of the way through from all the FUD.

Author has a wild imagination.
I do agree that at some point, the author did become a bit delusional and started writing FUD.
1930  Economy / Trading Discussion / How do I move funds around exchanges quickly? on: June 22, 2013, 10:35:53 AM
Let's imagine I see some arbitrage between one exchange and another(as of now, that is bitstamp and MtGox or even btc-e). Let's say I buy cheap coins and bitstamp and send them to another exchange like Gox or BTC-E where I sell for USD, how can I quickly move the USD from Gox or BTC-E back to BitStamp to repurchase the coins and essentially repeat the steps?

Is it possible to use BitInstant for this?

P.S
Really, time is of the essence in this process. Oh and I live in Europe and am not a U.S Resident, nor am I verified on MtGox.
1931  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: 8 Bitcoins Available on: June 22, 2013, 12:22:36 AM
Bitcoin transactions are almost instant in any part of the world.
1932  Other / Off-topic / Re: Getting dumped before you even go out. on: June 22, 2013, 12:20:34 AM
Interesting thing is, that the girl is a bit vulgar, at times(on her Facebook wall) she mentions things like "su** my di**" and "bl** me" towards people she doesn't like, though no specific names or anything like that. No it's not in English. I have no problems with that, but nothing else on her personality ever suggested that she was capable of saying such things.
1933  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: wallet.dat renamed to ANY filename in ANY location for bitcond & bitcoin-qt on: June 22, 2013, 12:12:28 AM
Great patch!. While I cannot do it now, I will definitely send you a small donation.
1934  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Someone Buy Out MTGOX Please! on: June 21, 2013, 11:06:40 PM
...or switch to a competing exchange instead of sitting on your hands.
I would suggest BitStamp, but who'd want there, where it has Ripple built-in and has working SEPA, right? I mean people want to wait a lot, and do various verification procedures just to torture themselves.
1935  Other / Off-topic / Re: Getting dumped before you even go out. on: June 21, 2013, 10:36:15 PM
I'm personally in it for a long term relationship that would allow me to pop the question. I personally know of people that dated MANY years before considering popping the question, but I feel I want to get on with my life sooner and get married. While that doesn't stop a woman from say cheating or leaving you, it still strengthens a relationship, does it not?

find a virgin and they're less likely to leave

Well duh, OP is a virgin, which would be me. Anyway, back on topic, I finally spoke to the girl, on Facebook though, and apparently she likes someone else now, though maybe it will be just like me, a simple unrequited crush or something.

Betacoin on the way...
1937  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many bitcoiners are there out there? on: June 21, 2013, 07:51:45 PM
Definitely a lot more people than say 2 years ago.
1938  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][VLC] ValueCoin | The real valuable coin | Pre-Launch Announcement on: June 21, 2013, 05:44:43 PM
- Scrypt based coin
- 30 second block time (more than enough to minimize orphans)
- Difficulty starts at 0.
- 16 coins rewarded per block, halved every 4 years. - consistent rewards encourage miners to support the network long term. Difficulty retargets every 1 hr. Loyalty is rewarded. This also reduces volatility by setting the foundation on a stable path. Due to the fair launch policy, block rewards will grow in value until they reach the 16 coins per block reward. More details below.
- Total number of coins = 133,684,032 coins
- Block confirmations  in 90 seconds.
- Irreversible value transfer
- Transactions are sent instantly and are confirmed in minutes
- Double spending prevented by the blockchain
- Miners process transactions and create new currency through mining
- Transactions can be received at any time
- Transparent and open source

WOW. That is truly innovative. That is so new even bitcoin doesn't have it.

1940  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fix for manual payout bug for mmcfe (greedi version) - for those who need it on: June 21, 2013, 12:25:37 AM
I have the vague feeling I reported this issue a month or so ago. While it is true that the issue is eliminated with cronjobs, it's not instant payout anymore.

less then 60 seconds until payout is instant enough. and it avoids the stateless issue and overly complex php code.

and yes, some people knew about it. but not enough in my mind.
Well, I personally like the idea of seeing a tx hash as soon as I click payout.
