Additional information:

#1 I will guarantee a minimum of 250 posts.
#1.1 I have made at least 3845 post since Sept 1st; thats an average of 549 posts per month. If you want more details, see here[1]. I have no reason to believe this will change in the near future, but life is full of surprises.
#1.2 The 250 guarantee is not tied to the month and may take me longer.
#2 I reserve the right to reject advertisements for companies/entities that are associated with a scam and/or large amounts of spam.

#5 My avatar and/or personal text are not for sale.
#6 No conditional bids, ask your questions before you bid.
#7 You are free to resell the signature space as long as it meets all above criteria.
#7.1 It can take me up to 24 hours to update the signature.

1922  Other / Meta / Re: Need help about the ban on: April 10, 2016, 06:49:03 PM
Hello,

I have another account enrolled with signature campaign already and today i posted some posts, but i got this  notice " Sorry (...), you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
unsubstantial posts + signature campaign (14 days)"
However i think that my posts are substantials and in topic, but no problem i will try to improve it in the future as much as i can.
So is this permanent ban or it's temporary ?
Help me please about this issue.
Thanks.

14 days is 14 days, which is usually the 2nd warning. If you link the account in question we might help you improve. To make sure the ban is not prolonged make sure you understand that you can not post with any other account during these 14 days. The only exception is this thread discussing your ban.

Thanks moved crypto-games to A, as lutpin expects the legendary spot to take some time to get filled.

1.What is the best and secure linux distro for having my offline savings cold storage electrum wallet?
2.How to install Electrum offline in that linux distro because i have read on linux we need to get connected to internet and run some commands to install it but i would like to install it offline without internet access.is that possible?if yes, how?
3.Does the signed transactions file from offline electrum wallet transferred to online wallet can possibly leak my private keys?
I look forward if some techy here answers and explain the answers in details.
Thank you

I think Tails is one of the most secure Linux distro evers, at least Edward Snowden uses it. Tails includes Electrum installed ready to use. What I don't understand is how does it store the keys because Tails is read-only (you can't write anything on it as far as I know unless configure it).
I think you will need a Trezor to securely store the private keys..

Anyway im also interested on a more specific answer.

Tails was made to protection your privacy, I dont think this is OPs primary concern.

#1 Any distro you can handle and does not come with crap. Arch and Gentoo allow you the biggest control, but they are also more difficult to handle. I personally dont think it matters much as long as the system is kept offline reliably. E.g. if you can disable the WiFi via a hardware switch or if there is no WiFi module at all.

#2 An offline system is not called offline because it was never online. You almost always need data from an online source. The important part is to only generate your keys (e.g. the electrum seed) once you are done with the online part, then you go offline and never bring the system back online again. If you have to update software, e.g. because your old wallet version is no longer working you might want to create a new wallet and sweep all funds once you are done.

#3 Yes, but only if the wallet software or the system PRNG is horribly broken (R-value reused).
I do not understand your third answer what PRNG is?
Simply please tell me if i am safe if i use electrum to sign transactions offline and transfer back the signed transactions to the online wallet?
Is PRNG of electrum good?

PRNG is a "pseudo random number generator" used by modern systems. Electrum AFAIK uses the PRNG of the system it runs on. This is usually fine, unless you specifically fuck it up, e.g. by resetting a virtual machine to an older state (see e.g. here[1]).

1927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How unique are the Bitcoin addresses ? on: April 10, 2016, 03:12:05 PM
What are the chances that I will find another address that start with same way as the one posted above and what are the number of characters that could be the same ?

That depends on how many addresses you generate, and how many characters you match.

For example, if you generate only two version 1 addresses (P2PKH), there is a 100% chance that the first character will match.

Each additional character that you want to match reduces the odds of finding a match.  Each additional address that you generate increases the odds of finding a match.

...by 1 in 58. Since addresses are encoded in base58 the 2nd address has a ~1.7% chance to match the second character of the first. This is not the whole truth as the underlying bit pattern can make matching certain characters more difficult than others. Some quick examples from vanitygen (note the change in difficulty):

Code:

1929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bit coin problem on: April 10, 2016, 10:01:38 AM
Do you really need a full wallet? That's a lot of hassle when there are far less demanding wallets that do just as good a job.

No, they dont. Only full node wallets (like bitcoin core) fully verify all data. Most other wallets have to rely on either other nodes (e.g. multibit) or servers (e.g. electrum).

used as basis.

Payments have been made, we've got a legendary spot up for grabs as of now.
Crypto-Games.net is open for new "Legendary" participants now, so I think it should be moved from the CFNP.

Its only one spot and i think it will be filled by someone as it is one of the nice campaign and its payment rate is also high.So i think changing from CFNP just for one spot is not needed. Moreover updating the thread title is enough to make legendary guys notice about it.

There is also a Hero spot open according to their OP and the OP is titled "open". I will ask Lutpin how quickly they think the spot will be filled as they should have a better overview. Might be a campaign for FLUX as well.

1932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to sign a message?! on: April 10, 2016, 09:13:55 AM
how to do it in new blockchain.info wallet the new version of block chain as i can see any option to do it ..please guide me
Basically, the new blockchain wallet (beta mode) doesn't support this(signing a message) feature ATM as far as I know. There was already a discussion held on this topic(issue), I'd guess.

Yes, there is a work around in the OP though. It requires you to export the private keys into a wallet that allows signing messages. Since there is no official way to export the keys either there is a work around for that as well.
1933  Other / Meta / Re: Does this user deserve to be paid for Signature campaign or banned from forum? on: April 09, 2016, 09:50:08 PM
The biggest issue is these guys can go join another signature instantly, so they have multiple strikes. Once they become higher ranked more signatures open up for them.
If there was a master list for signature runners to check, it would cut a ton of spam. Sold accounts would also lose value if they where kicked from a campaign. Mention that because a lot of the spam is from guys with ten plus accounts.

They just need to read the post history to know someone is posting the same thing over and over again or just generally bad. The last few pages should be enough.

I thought there was something like the btct value estimater for post counting or something, but I guess its either make your own bot or manage it by hand, thanks for the info.

It is better not to rely on bots as it can basically claim any posts (even on off-topic) as constructive if a user posts shit with maximum character count.
Also some user might bluff the bots by inserting transparent characters to his posts to make it look constructive to it as well.
All those problems can be solved and have been solved before, a good coder can fix those problems

Sure just search the entire board for copied posts, easy.

Another new signature campaign from gamebet.gg, payment rate is good enough and limited to 17 slots for various ranks.

That's the thing: I haven't posted any bitcoin address, ever.
If needed, my post history pre-hacking shows lots of posts regarding various sportsbooks, for example Fairlay. I can prove I have the same user on Fairlay, if need be.

I can commend you on your choice of unique and complex password (I use a password manager-generated password and 2FA auth for sites that really matter to me), but I rather doubt that someone bruteforced my password for this site.

Is this yours?

https://blockchain.info/address/1METnz1Gvcz1Ce1D29SBZAtE9cok5cHEy8

Thanks a lot, this is indeed mine! Signed below. Where did you find a reference to this address, so that I may show this to the users of this site that have given me negative trust?

Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
This is ctlaltdefeat, the original owner of the bitcointalk.org account of the same nickname AND the CURRENT owner of the account, signing to verify ownership. The date is Saturday, 9 April, 2016.

verified.

so far the negative trust should belong to this user https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=714774 actseller who sold the account to me.

edit : here the link to your posted transaction https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=447831.msg5031046#msg5031046

Its still possible that the original owner sold the account to ActSeller. Be that as it may I think a refund is in order. I will cover 50% of the paid price since - as Quickseller pointed out - I could possibly have prevented this by changing the mail address myself. Im not entirely sure this is true, as Im sure ActSeller changed the mail. Let me know an address where you want the BTC, PM me if you want to keep it private.

@Shorena sorry about that payment has been sent. I put you in at the wrong rate.

To everyone wondering when this campaign is ending the owner hasnt said exactly. The escrow addy still has funds in it for now so we will continue tonight at least. I will try to give as much notice as possible to you all if we are ending

Thanks, received. You could have just added it to the next payout. Smiley

I appreciate the help, Encrypted.  This technical stuff is tough for a non-techie like me.

The advice was solid no questions asked, but maybe you should switch to a different wallet. Maybe one that is less demanding in terms of disk space, e.g. electrum or multibit hd.
1939  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Relex, Firedude, Snoopy1 and bitcoin1900 are all alts of confirmation120. on: April 08, 2016, 06:46:36 PM
So was Patatas according to my information.
I know who currently holds the account (won't disclose it though, as being told in confidence, maybe the user wants to do that himself),
and I'd say the chances are close to 0 that person is connected to confirmation120.

then why didn't you leave a neutral like you did to mr.coinstrader?

but no matter. Patatas and the others can prove that the account was sold after the scam by providing a PM proof of the trade of their accounts.

Patatas still didnt manage to come up with anything solid. Edit: Patatas provided similar information now.

I have removed the rating to Shibashi Dogemoto as they had a signed message from escrow for the trade. I couldnt verify it as for some reason the keys didnt match, but they provided enough other information that Im pretty sure there was a trade after the connection was made.
