I usually just reply with a small letter asking them to stop.
1922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Screenplay for a Bitcoin TV Ad. on: June 29, 2011, 11:56:07 PM
Everything is about to get really bad. Actually it already is. A good portion of America is jobless. They have every right to be upset and this ad can connect with that.

The general public can be and is politically interested.
I disagree, I see so many people around avoiding politics like the plague.    I will say though it depends on the group, there is no one commercial that would work for all, but I would just try and hit things as big as possible.

Anyways, if you want to get very serious with your ad, might I suggest using Google TV Ads, cheaper, better targeting (might as well find the best audience for your ad if it is listed), ease of use of course  http://www.google.com/ads/tv/
1923  Other / Meta / Re: What happened to the Silk Road thread? on: June 29, 2011, 11:50:26 PM
Being very pro-drug, I see the benefits of telling all drug users to use Bitcoin.  It makes sense.  Doesn't make sense to the benefit of the drugs or Bitcoin to do it the other way, knowing that the stupid general American public already has their opinions about Silk Road and Bitcoin thanks to the news, this would not help anyone want to use drugs, and it definitely will not help anyone want to use Bitcoin (speaking general public terms).

All you people, keep getting angry at a web board about Bitcoins.  I hope you all know that whether or not Silk Road or any of that shit gets talked about on these forums or not, of course they aren't going away.  Those places exist because people want them to, and not discussing on this forum won't change that, and may in fact preserve it better Smiley
1924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Screenplay for a Bitcoin TV Ad. on: June 29, 2011, 11:43:50 PM
I think the first set of ads should have a very positive spin, let the anti-government ones come out second wave (because I'm pretty sure all the anti-government nuts are on Bitcoin, and ad would be to get the general public, no?)
1925  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: To the owner of http://www.flexcoin.com/ on: June 29, 2011, 11:18:28 PM
Thread about taking shortcuts and credibility.

Exclusively uses ellipsis instead of periods.

Irony overload.

hahaha, didn't even notice.  So nice.
1926  Other / Off-topic / Re: Free merchant accounts for everybody! Square gets $27.5 million funding on: June 29, 2011, 11:11:25 PM
Must be a lot of potential in the P2P mobile payments space.

!!

Thanks for posting all this, read most but will be checking some of those links later.  Not familiar with the, I thought this was going to be about Final Fantasy, this is much better.
1927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Accelerator SCAM on: June 29, 2011, 10:51:40 PM
Defininitely, we need better marketing for legitimate bitcoin uses.

On a very real note that has nothing to do with this thread.  I've only charged one user for a graphic (suuuper cheap mind you), made a few for free, and honestly if I didn't have more work myself, I'd do more.  I'd ask for donations on all that shit, but obviously the start up people don't have it, so it comes down to, if any graphic designer has invested in coin, they should further seal their investment by helping out the stores that would make Bitcoin have that look legitimacy that is lacking on most these place.  I trust so few based on looks alone.
1928  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is BitCoinPlus a scam? on: June 29, 2011, 10:47:35 PM
I use it on two sites (prominently displaying that I use it), both links in my signature.  I am pleased with those emails explaining it.  The amount of random math that guy has probably had to do to work out something that is realistic for him to run the site and to be able to pay people out must be hell.
1929  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to Bitcoins, having trouble getting them. on: June 29, 2011, 10:43:19 PM
Bitcoin faucet is up and running http://freebitcoins.appspot.com/  Get your free coins if you have not already.

You all are welcome Smiley
1930  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wikileaks accepting bitcoin is a big deal on: June 29, 2011, 10:38:50 PM
Oh god, I hope the Wikileaks people are smart enough to know not to spend all that money at once to keep some kind of value with it.  Maybe spreading it back through different BTC based stores and what not for things they need.

All donations 1Eeya8PUji6kFVwQYwgwrKvv7gHkk6GAdg will go toward obviously getting me a new god damn phone, holy shit I haven't used the camera in a while, and I don't think I will be again either lol.

Not pictured is an gold arcade token that just has "No Cash Value" on one side, but is actually blank on the other.  I took a red permanent marker and put a "B" logo on it, but it fucking blows and my shit phone camera did not help, but it exists and the real "Bitcoin" with "No Cash Value" is right next to me lol

Love this thread, can't believe I kept missing it.
1932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introducing BTCnames on: June 29, 2011, 09:48:49 PM
I had an idea in my head with a bunch of the letters falling from the matrix transitioning into a "Hello My Name is" name.  Something along the lines of 'go from this to this'.   But I think my mind floated to just overall design rather than specific logo.    Great service here, if none of the graphic designers jump on this by like midnight tonight, PM me, I like your service and I like how quickly you were to put the code out there Smiley
1933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A web user comments about Bitcoin on Forbes.com's article about Visa/MC fees. on: June 29, 2011, 09:19:00 PM
The comment, made by Bitcoin.org forum user BTCVC

Quote from: BTCVC
For years we have relied on Visa and Mastercard and have consistently bent to their will so that we could use their service. Merchants and Consumers alike understand that for years, these transaction fees have been a necessary part of doing business. No more! There are now virtual online commodities like Bitcoin that allow feeless or near-feeless transactions. As Bitcoin continues to take off, it will no doubt be attacked by these payment processors, angry because they are being cut out of their share.

Visa and Mastercard need to embrace online transferable commodities or go the way of the Travel Agent. If people want to use them because of “convenience” or “status” that’s fine, but there are perfectly suitable, free alternatives available.

The usurper of the Travel Agent’s job has been sites like travelocity, expedia, and orbitz.

There are many online transaction services stepping in to wrangle control away from the big guys, it is just a matter of time before one of them is successful.

Simplifies a lot of things, but I bet it is true.
1934  Other / Off-topic / Re: Use Opera Browser You Won't Get Hacked Like IE on: June 29, 2011, 09:14:23 PM
I am going to check out the newest Opera, might as well have a fourth browser on my computer.
1935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The richest users on the bitcoin forum on: June 29, 2011, 09:08:44 PM
The point - I am using Bitcoin Tool all the time, I find it very useful, so I am wondering why other people are not eager to try it out. I figured out two main reasons:

Don't forget reason 3, trust.    Security breaches every day fucks up trust, obviously.    Posting this thread exposing a lot of information, not going to help build trust.    The selling of the Reddit account with the Bitcoin domain, probably didn't help either.   There are many reasons why people aren't using it.

Me, I just want the ability to customize my own skin, I'm not too hard to please lol
1936  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you doing business selling goods or services for bitcoins? on: June 29, 2011, 09:03:50 PM
Hey,

I'm a graphic designer and I just started my online store, where I'm selling T-Shirts and Mugs directly for bitcoins:
http://www.bitdenari.com

Check it out and order, it's fun - also I'm open to suggestions and I can make custom products for you too if you contact me.

Cheers,
Youdith

Wow.  Prices are so cheap.

Somebody buy me a mug Sad

Edit: I am such a fucking noob, forgot to convert pricing.   $35 a shirt is not the same as I thought lol
1937  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [POSSIBLE SCAM] Bitcoin Mining Accelerator / Coin Miner on: June 29, 2011, 09:01:50 PM

Put this link in the original post http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=24437.0

1938  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Truecrypt + wallet.dat on: June 29, 2011, 09:00:43 PM
Because nobody else is doing to so I wonder if there is a issue with doing it...

I'm curious, who is this "nobody else" you speak of, and why are they not safe?
1939  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It look less than 10 seconds to crack more than 300 accounts on: June 29, 2011, 08:38:21 PM
Phishing now:

FROM: contact@bitcoin-mining-accelerator.com

(...phishing url follows in the content...)

EDIT: How about we create a "My Email was at MtGox's Database Club" at Facebook for exchange spam?...  Roll Eyes

I would look to this http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=24437.0 for updates on that specific email.  Interesting stuff.
1940  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Mining Accelerator SCAM on: June 29, 2011, 08:35:48 PM
When refreshing the FTP directory periodically, three .dat files appeared.  I have downloaded them and removed them from the FTP server.  After starting up bitcoind with them I will report on any addresses they contain that have been seen in the block chain.  If they turn out to be your addresses, create a new wallet on a secure machine and spend all of your coins to one of its addresses ASAP.

EDIT: More keep popping up every so often.  I am downloading and deleting all that I find.

God bless you people helping us confused, thanks in advance for cracking it open.
