1921  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Risks to take in marriage on: February 24, 2023, 06:36:58 PM
One of the risk we don't all want to participate in taking is the risk of being responsible for marriage challenges, we must know that it's a lifetime of for better for worse and for richer or poorer, we need to understand that no condition is parmanent, therefore we must be ready to take our partners burden along with ours in facing marriage challenges a d tackle them one after the other, especially being the man who is the head of the house.

It is true that marriage is meant to be forever until death. You are also right that marriage is for better for worst, sickness and health, richer and poorer, etc, but some marriages has subjected people to physically, psychological and mental torture. Some spouse are not marriageable because of their bad behaviors. Nobody will cope with an adulterous woman and no woman will love to live with a man that spends all his income on drugs, gambling or alcohol. There are some conditions that people can not cope with and the only option will be to seek divorce.

Before I used to preach against divorce and I discriminated against divorcees but I have recently learned that the failure of their marriages might not be their fault. They might have tried all the could to sustain the marriage but their spouse was not marriageable.
1922  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I gave investment advice to my grandfather. on: February 24, 2023, 06:21:08 PM
My grandfather has some wealth. Now my grandfather will invest all his wealth in Bitcoin. I told my grandfather not to invest all your wealth in Bitcoin. I suggested to my grandfather that Bitcoin not only has the potential for profit, but also the potential for loss. So you invest some wealth in Bitcoin. You don't have to sit on the street if your investment suffers.

My only question to all, was I able to give my grandfather the right advice??
You mean your father or grandfather? My grandfather will call be me a scammer if I try to introduce him to Bitcoin because he might never understand anything about it. He is an unlearned man that is concerned with his fowls, goat and cows, just kidding  Roll Eyes.

But you gave your father a good advice because he shouldn't invest all his wealth in Bitcoin. You also did well by telling him that just like other investment he can also suffer loss. You need to teach him about keeping his keys and password. I have to introduce you to my grandpa maybe you can convince him to use some of his income from agriculture to invest in bitcoin  Roll Eyes.
1923  Economy / Economics / Re: To cut financial ties with original family benefits you in the long run on: February 24, 2023, 06:04:40 PM
I have to say that is both true and not true at the same time. I haven't had a single financial help from my family since I was 23 years old, which should mean that I need to be a bit more independent from my family and have responsibilities and be a financially wise person at the very least, or at least be forced to work and provide for my family, which is true but that doesn't make me any better man, I still do not live a rich life. I get that I have some responsibilities and have to work harder and get that chance, but that doesn't make any person who lives with their parents any lesser, they are just as good as me, it changes from person to person, not situation to situation.
The economy of the country also affects the independence or dependence of most youths. An economy that has high rate of unemployment will make youths to depend on their parents for longer period. A parent will not just watch his child that have graduated and is ready to work but are employed starve. They will always support them financially until they get a job.

But some countries that have a good economy will encourage young people to become independent fast because they can get jobs easily immediately after graduation or skill acquisition. I don't always blame these unfortunate youths because their dependence on their parents is not their fault.
1924  Other / Politics & Society / Sam Bankman-Fried bribed politicians for favor. on: February 23, 2023, 05:58:07 PM
Sam Bankman-Fried now faces a total of 12 criminal charges because 4 more charges have been added. His current charge is that he conspired with two of his former FTX executives to donate tens of millions of dollars to influence US politicians to pass laws favorable to the company.

Federal prosecutors claimed that SBF donated to both Democrats and Republicans to ensure that he will be favored no matter who wins the elections. It is unfortunate how politicians receive funds from corrupt businessmen without considering the consequences of their actions on the people. They are in these political positions for selfish reasons. I am sure these bribes affected their regulatory functions, which made SBF run FTX like his family business.

The receivers of this donation should be compelled to return these funds because they can be used to pay some people that lost money in FTX.

1925  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 19, 2023, 06:02:30 PM
1st surprise of the day.

Lecce beathen Atalanta. Lecce is a small team but got very good games versus the big of Serie A.

This is Atalanta's first defeat since entering mid-season in their home match record
Next week will be even more interesting because Atalanta will face Milan, last week they managed to beat the team above them, Lazio. Can Atalanta face the ambitious Milan next week?

In addition, there is Juventus who have today's away match against Spezia, 2 yellow cards have been issued in the first 20 minutes, Juventus have dominated today's match more.
Atlanta just lost a golden opportunity to move to the fourth position. They controlled the match but didn't get a goal. Lecce took the best two opportunities they had and went back to defend the goals. Lecce goalkeeper Falcone was the hero of the day but we would have ended up becoming the villain if they had conceded another goal after his blunder caused the first goal. This win have moved Lecce to the thirteenth position. Napoli seems to be having less competitors after this loss by Atlanta.
1926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 19, 2023, 05:23:57 PM
Match against Manchester united and Leicester city was impressive. Manchester played well especially that second half was crazy with some accurate passes and great goals chances and I believe that is what make them scored more goals.

Leicester City was by no means a weak opponent. This group is very strong now. And they played very well in today's match too. But the performance of Manchester United players was exceptional. Also, their match strategy was very good. And because of the good match strategy, United's players were able to successfully counter every attack of Leicester.
Leicester City had two chances to go ahead in the match but the spectacular saves from the Manchester United goalkeeper denied them those opportunities. Leicester played good football but they were just unfortunate. Bruno Fernandes has proved that he is still a top class player. His extraordinary passes that led to the first and third goals are commendable. Marcus Rashford is undoubtedly one of the best the premiership. Manchester United should thank thier stars that he was not allowed to leave the club last season. He keeps scoring in every match and his brace today were classic.
1927  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2022/23 on: February 19, 2023, 10:27:18 AM
Real Madrid's situation worries me. Tension is palpable, and a turnaround is necessary. Their attacking play needs work. Coach Ancelotti's new ideas are needed. Barcelona is also in danger. Given their poor head-to-head record, their encounter against Cadiz will be a test. I think Barcelona will win, though. Given the stakes, attention and hard work are crucial. I'm excited for these critical matches as a fan.
Real Madrid is already in second place from LaLiga and is only 5 points away from Barcelona, you shouldn't need to worry because Real Madrid will of course give its best contribution until LaLiga ends,
Even though in the next match Real Madrid will have to face many strong opponents, the Real Madrid coach should be able to consider a good strategy to win and surprise his fans.
Real Madrid might not be able to win the La Liga because Barcelona is in top form. Five points is not too big but the Madrid team is not as strong as the way it was last season. I also think that Barcelona have more players than Real Madrid, so they might have the needed squad that can be easily rotated as they play both in the League and for the European title. But Real Madrid have to rely on few players that might suffer from fatigue. But the difference between the two teams is also the quality of coach. Real Madrid coach is more experienced than Xavi, but it seems Xavi is learning very fast.
1928  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: February 19, 2023, 10:20:19 AM
But the fact is Southampton in the previous match against Chelsea, in fact Southampton can also beat Chelsea with a score of 2-1. These results at least slightly prove that Chelsea's performance has indeed fallen from the end of last season.

But indeed, Southampton's performance so far this season has also been bad. So Chelsea should be able to beat Shouthampton, because Shouthampton is also in the lowest position in the Premier League standings.

I don't know if Chelsea is under a spell. With all these expensive signing they couldn't beat a team that is struggling to avoid relegation. Thier performance is not that bad because Chelsea controlled and dominated in the match but they lacked the ability to score goals. Maybe the ghost of Thomas Tuchel is hunting them because he was unjustly sacked. The American owner of the club should be willing to bear the consequences of his actions. I feel very sorry for the players and fan.
1929  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: February 19, 2023, 08:55:38 AM
Actually, 34 years old is still good enough if he wants to go to a Ligue 1 team or a Bundesliga team, but not as a main player but more as a second tier player, at least he still has a one-season contract duration if he goes to one of the teams in the league above. But I really think that the left fullback position really requires a lot of stamina because you have to often help attack and defend. Is it possible that Marcelo will follow in the footsteps of his best friend in the Middle East League? I think it's a pretty good option if there is an offer from a club from that league.
Marcelo was one of the best defenders at his prime. Any club that gets his services will enjoy his wealth of experience. He will be able to groom young defenders and make them understand how to defend. For now he should consider moving to the United States or the Middle East like most players in his level. He could also consider embarking on a coaching course that can certify him to get a coaching job in the nearest future. He can also retire and decide to go into other businesses and spend good time with his family and friends.
1930  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Would you marry your current spouse again? on: February 19, 2023, 08:22:00 AM
From the comments of his thread I observed that most people will marry thier spouse again if they love thier partner and thier partner also love them. And most people want to marry thier spouse again if they are enjoying thier marriage currently. But people will never wish of marrying thier partner if they are just enduring the marriage or thier partner is not behaving the way they expect. But we the rate of divorce in the world currently, I don't think most people will want to even meet thier spouse in the afterlife.
1931  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin as gift on: February 19, 2023, 08:16:49 AM
Is it cool to give a friend bitcoin as a gift on his birthday?
I have a friend who I have been telling about bitcoin for the past 2 weeks now and he's paying more attention to it, on the 1st of March is his birthday party I want to surprise him with $200 BTC because I can't attend his birthday party.
So is it apprised to gift a friend bitcoin at his birthday party?

$200 worth of Bitcoin from a birthday present is good. That's a whole lot off money. You can also advice him not to sell it but he can keep it until the price appreciate. Ensure you also teach him how to keep this asset safe in decentralized wallets and let him learn how to keep his keys and password safe.
1932  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Advantage and disadvantage of cryptocurrency on: February 19, 2023, 07:51:53 AM
Disadvantages;
* it can be time consuming
* the losses are irreversible
* it prone to scammers
* its discouraged seeking further career
* it can cause shocks and death

If you have stayed in the bank from morning till night because of a single transaction, you will know that cryptocurrencies transaction is not time consuming. To open an a bank account, you will need to fill different forms and go through many processes.

It is true that cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible, that is why we need to check and recheck before we click the send button. We should be extra careful before we carryout any transaction.

Banks are more prone to scams and attack than bitcoin. All we need to do is to used decentralized wallets and never keep your funds in exchanges because they are prone to attack of hackers and government.

I don't see how the cryptocurrency sector discourages people to seek opportunities in other areas. Most people in this sector use the cryptocurrency sector as a side hustle or part-time job. Apart from Bitcointalk I am not engaged in any other platform. If I can invest in the sector, hold my coins and sell them when the price goes high, then I am okay. I don't need to spend all my time in the sector. And it is also good to diversify your income source.

Please always invest what you can afford to loose. Don't borrow to invest in Bitcoin and don't put all your funds in Bitcoin because the sector is also unpredictable. Investors must also understand that losing funds is not the end of the world. As long as there is life, there is hope and more opportunities will also come.

1933  Other / Politics & Society / Re: C.b.n government vs supreme Court on: February 19, 2023, 07:35:06 AM
Nostr is in its beginnings. Once it gets going stronger, governments of the world won't be able to control their citizens any longer. Even financial things will bypass the banks and governments.

Check into it now, while it is young, and teach your people how to use it. That way you'll be ready for the time after it 'grows up'.

https://bitcoinnews.com/what-is-nostr/

Cool
I checked out the Nostr and it seems interesting. But I to read about the details about this platform. To have a social media network that borrowed it's features from the Bitcoin network is commendable. A social media that has its username as private keys like wallets is attractive.

The Nigerian government should obey the Supreme Court judgement because their is separation of power between the executive and the legislature. For the society to be free of anarchy, every institution should obey the law.
1934  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've invested around 450 dollars into bitcoin so far and I am 16 years old on: February 19, 2023, 07:22:47 AM
Currently, I am a sophomore in high school. I learned about btc from my dad and btc blew my mind and I was hooked. I've been pretty much putting all that I can into it for a year and a half now. Are there any tips you guys give me? 2/3 of my bitcoin is in Stockpile and the other third is with my dad (I'm not sure how he's storing it). At this moment I own a total of 0.01798185 bitcoin Smiley
This is a good start for a sixteen year old. You mates are out there playing videogames and wasting money on unnecessary things or activities but you have shown a lot of wisdom and determination. I hope you keep holding this asset until you become an adult and independent. I want to also encourage you to keep adding to your investment now that you are depending on your parents because when you leave them it might become difficult to save. Keep saving mate.
1935  Economy / Economics / Re: The Return of the Barter Trade at Rural Communities in Nigeria on: February 19, 2023, 07:04:41 AM
One main feature about humans is adaptability. The human brain or mind is very powerful that it can always seek for ways to solve it's financial problems. Nigerians have devised the barter system in order to survive this harsh economic policies. But the challenge is that barter will not give promote equitable exchange of goods and services because the value of the goods that is used for the exchange might not be well determined. Nevertheless, it is a good option because the people of Nigeria must survive.
1936  Other / Beginners & Help / My perceived unconscious benefit of bitcointalk. on: February 15, 2023, 06:06:23 PM
Belonging to this forum has some benefit which includes bitcoin education, financial intelligence, investment, interpersonal skills, and so on. But I observed that there are some improvements in some areas of my life that I need to share.

Creativeity: The forum standard for post quality is very high. It is not like other social media platforms where you can post without planning or putting in the effort. Senior members in the forum are always willing to criticize and correct such substandard posts. This means you need to always think outside the box if you want to be productive in this forum. The pursuit of excellence in the forum will unconsciously spur members to be creative in thinking and writing.

Innovation: This forum celebrates positive innovation. Staying around this form for some time now has made me innovative in my daily life. I am no longer content anymore with the status quo. This forum has helped me to have the feeling that I can do more or there is room for improvement.

Giving: I saw members giving selflessly to the campaign manager Yahoo and I was touched. Recently I saw a thread for support of victims of the earthquake in Turkey and Syria and unconsciously I have started learning that I must not help only my relatives but I must extend help even to persons I don't know.

Law-abiding: If you live in a place where laws are not obeyed, you will appreciate the forum. It indirectly makes you respect other people's work so that you will always acknowledge them by referencing them when you lift their work and also obey the rules in the forum. Teaching me that nobody is above the law is priceless.
1937  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do not invest in crypto from loans. on: February 15, 2023, 05:07:17 PM
I heard that there were people who invested in crypto, and ended up buying crypto and their money from loans, but it's a shame they suffered losses because they invested in altcoins, but they lacked knowledge and lessons about crypto. but with this incident it made me think that investing in crypto should not result from loans because,,,
will make the mind uneasy, and always in the shadow of the deposit every month.

so in my opinion, don't invest from borrowed money because there will be potential losses, what do you think, do you agree with me?
The crypto industry is one of the riskiest businesses in the world. Taking a loan to invest in the industry is a very bad idea. There are possibilities that the price of the coin might drop and you might lose the entire investment. It is better to invest only what you can lose because you might end up in the police cell if you borrow to invest.
1938  Economy / Economics / Re: How Does Debt Crisis Boost Cryptocurrencies? on: February 15, 2023, 04:51:06 PM
1. Bitcoin provides a hedge against inflation as we all know with its property of fixed supply. so that's how bitcoin is supporting the financial ecosystems.
It's high time you guys stopped saying that "Bitcoin provides a hedge against inflation," it's a misconception in this present-day reality. Or should we because we love Bitcoin and be blindfolded by it and continue to peddle lies? I guess not, the reality is all over the market. Inflation plagued from 2021-2022, what happened to Bitcoin? It could not withstand it of course and fell for it. Is that what you call a hedge?

The only viable hedge against inflation which is clearly noticed last year is the USDX, it was the only asset in which investors gained while inflation was seriously biting.

Bitcoin is a hedge against inflation. You might claim otherwise because you are not a long-term holder. Yeah, traders might believe your comment but not long-term bitcoin believers. If you have confidence in bitcoin you will hold it until it appreciates. You know what, if you are holding bitcoin, there is hope that it might rise in price which has been the case since last month, but most currencies will never recover after a fall. Most currencies have never risen for many years but bitcoin at least rises after a fall.
Yeah, you might claim that USDX is stable but it is a quasi-centralized currency. Which means you can lose your investment at any time.
1939  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Charity in the spirit of Val with Bitcoin money on: February 15, 2023, 04:31:38 PM
You are the one that celebrated the real Valentine. Most people give because they expect something from the receiver. But from the picture, I can tell that these women are not wealthy and they cannot pay you back for these kind gestures. $20 can feed a family of five for one week in the rural communities in m country. You have done well brother. Keep doing good because one day your reward will come.

But I have observed that all the pictures posted in this forum are either blurred or covered keeping the people's identities private. Maybe you could do the same thing to hide the identity of the people.
1940  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hunger and insecurity on: February 15, 2023, 03:20:26 PM
There is this saying a hungry man is an angry man. There might be other factors that contribute to insecurity in our society but all revolves around hunger. When one is hungry the can do the unthinkable just for survival. It is also proven that people tend to fall for peer pressure, environmental and societal pressure more when the cannot afford their basic amenities.

One can endure bad governance, unemployment and inflation but when it comes to hunger one can engage in diverse criminal act just to survive. Out of the numerous factors that can push people into criminal acts hunger has the highest reasons. Everyone wants to survive in a society where hunger persist and it is either done by a trick or by crook or by a legal way.
Even the Holy Bible acknowaedgles crime ignited by hunger and stipulates lesser punishment. An hungry man can loose his sense of reasoning. I would not blame a man that steals because he is hunger. If a thief come to someones house and goes straight to the kitchen and start eating and packing food, I dont think it will be ideal to call the cops if he does that without harming anybody.
Hunger might not be the only reason for insecurity because other factors like greed also contributes, but it is one of the main cause of insecurity. This is why most countries that experience a high rate of crime is likely suffering from unemployment and hunger.
