1921  Other / Meta / Re: Question about the security of PM's on: June 12, 2013, 12:32:31 PM
All admins and past admins have access to PMs.

Global moderators can download the encrypted database backups. Admins and past admins (Gavin, Satoshi, Sirius, me, and now justmoon) can decrypt them -- they therefore have complete access to the database and can read PMs, etc. Justmoon and I can also query the live database.

1922  Other / Meta / Making self-moderated threads more sensible on: June 12, 2013, 12:05:40 PM
At the moment thread self-moderation is mostly used to silence critics and present the OP in a better light than deserved, thus facilitating scams and/or self-aggrandizement.

This is an effort to gather ideas on how to make censorial efforts done by the OP more obvious to the participants of the thread.

- Programmatically insert a running count of removed posts in an obvious place of the thread, for instance the thread title or the self-moderation information banner at top of each thread page.

- Replace deleted post by a short system message that a post used to be at that place within the thread. I know this is possible with vbulletin even going so far as to offer a field that shows a reason for post deletion. So there might be a SMF plugin or option already allowing this.

Anyone else have some ideas?

I have one of those sitting in my basement. I can confirm it does it's work as intended and is also very rugged. You may however need special cables to hook it up, as the connectors have a weird pinout.

Oh, it's the crazyperson again. I thought he left. How's your suit against the UN going?

Aww I was gonna go eat dinner. Now I have to read more.

Better eat dinner first. This is gonna take a loooooot of time but it's the ride of a lifetime: http://www.catoutofthebag.info/1/1/
1925  Other / Meta / Re: Multiple accounts allowed? on: June 12, 2013, 10:53:06 AM
A week ago I noticed some dude just selling accounts. The mod reasured that buying/selling accounts is allowed. So, you can own multiple forum accounts, login from the same IP and reply to the same topics with both of them, right?

Yes
I wonder, how many people that I discussed with were actually alt accounts.

All of them.

I can't tell if you're sublimely sarcastic or just didn't read the thread.

Wrong kind of shower. If it says "Golden" in front, urine for sudden precipisstation.

Reading greyhawk these days is giving me a dirty kind of feeling.

Strange. That's exactly what that girl said to me the other night. No, wait, that was "eww, you feel kinda dirty." Close enough, I suppose...

1932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to tell Iran customers to get Bitcoin to pay the bill? on: June 10, 2013, 11:06:42 AM
Maybe Mtgox can consider another exchange BTC/Barrels of Oil, I think this will be more interesting for Iranians and Oil producing countries Smiley

Would they really want an aircraft carrying group or two showing up in their office?

Dude, your very own aircraft carrier. What's not to like?
1933  Other / Off-topic / Re: [NSFW] Dirty Heidy on: June 10, 2013, 10:56:45 AM
You poor woman. I think it's not very nice of your boyfiend to let you be all dirty. For shame.

But fear not. For only a small contribution of 1 BTC i will let you use one of the newest technological wonders we have in our utopian futurology called Germany.

The almost magical thingamabob is called a shower and its wondrous effect is removing all that dirty dirt, thus transforming you into a squeaky clean and olfactory improved young lady.

Do be sure to take advantage of this limited time offer.

An even better thingy in your utopian futurology called Germany is a club called insomnia, Berlin.....there are showers there too, but I think for some reason I still came out dirty.

Wrong kind of shower. If it says "Golden" in front, urine for sudden precipisstation.

Also,

Bitcoin town is now Mason Town, no vote, no questions. That is my brothers name.

See this? This is dumb. Here I was all defending you (even though I don't like you) by tracking you back to your primary persona while people were going "Hahaha, idiotic sob story that we've seen a thousand times". So people saw me vouching for you and thus were all "Ok, this is a real thing, let's not make fun of it for the next 120 minutes". And then you go ahead and do something like this? Really? No, hell, REALLY? How fucked up is this? Do you even think about these things before you do them? Do you think anyone, do you think any single fucking person is going to trust you now? Dude, you've got great ideas, but do yourself and everyone else involved a favor and lay off the weed.

Thank you for that concise representation of a typical SA goon. Guy loses a dear family member, is still likely in shock and grief, says the first thing that comes to his mind, that being to dedicate something to the memory of his just-dead brother, and you spend a paragraph blowing up at him and calling his statement fucking stupid. It's extra super ironic considering what you posted previously about bitcoiners and compassion/charity.

If you go back in this thread you will find that I a) supported Finshaggy when everyone else was calling this thread a sham by pointing out his story was real after I verified his identity b) I supported Finshaggys stance on how more education about food allergies is needed by answering YOUR questions about food allergy and c) I only lashed out at him at the moment he decided to intermingle his other project with this unfortunate death. I think your desire to hate anything "SA" overrode your normally rather rational judgement here.

Why don't you tell this community what you are doing to help? Please indulge us.

Amazing. Apparently you know now nothing at all about the community you're trying to evangelize. I have been warning the community about faith-based self-proclaimed saviours like you for the past 2 years and I have never been wrong. Each and everyone wound up trying to scam this so-called "community" in the end. Whatever you're trying to do is not about bitcoin, it's about Charles Hopkinson trying desperately to be relevant. Each and everyone of your posts screams "Please acknowledge my existence" so loud I can almost hear it. You are not the solution, people like you are the problem Bitcoin is trying to eradicate.

Here is some useful advice. Whenever you  see charleshoskinson write anything at all, and I mean ANYTHING, it's going to be about Charles Hoskinson. Unfortunately his persona is unable to function unless it acts as a self-advertising spambot so you're going to see a lot of information about how charleshoskinson is Charles Hoskinson. The subject matter is irrelevant, it is all about how internet recognition adds 3 inches to your thirdleggitry.

Could a mod please delete this post? It is both off topic and a personal attack.

It is also true. Freedom of speech, free market, whatever, take your pick.

They go to Rome, eternal city,
to find the poet oh so witty,
but to each one's gruesome pity
they find neither hair nor titty.

The master poet holds his rhymes
waiting for the better times,
he'll talk of balls, of tits, of cock,
when time strikes later on the clock.
