19261  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX Processors. Has any one ordered it? on: August 08, 2018, 10:10:13 PM
I got 3 parts so far

the taichi mobo at 224  with all coupons
2x 16gb ram     at 220   with coupons   eBay 15%
1tb nvme m.2   at  240 with coupons  eBay 15%

I have a cooler
I have a case
I have a psu
I have 1080ti's

So do I cheap out and buy a 1920x for 404 with eBay 15% off

and wait till I find a deal on the 2990wx

Still would be the best pc I ever owned

and only 1085 out of pocket.

The eBay sale ends in 6 hours

404  for a new 1920x vs 1799  for a new 2990wx  yeah it is better  but not so sure about 1395 better.

...

Hey Phil I understand your frustration as most (myself included) are frustrated when pre-order products are delayed, and I definitely understand your concern on only partial stats released w/ the acorns so far

However they are trying to bring a unique product, and per what they've said it is ultimately out of their control.

What would you suggest they do?

Also have you read this yet?
...

At this point in time the milk is spilt this is not anything they can do.

My thoughts are as follows bitmain, innosilicon or a third secret party  hammered them  like they hammered the Sia development team.

Their problem is simple they are smart but honest and did not imagine what a more powerful richer company would do to stop them.

Sia asic thread I will link it.

https://blog.sia.tech/the-state-of-cryptocurrency-mining-538004a37f9b

his mistake was to think he could build gear for his coin instead of protecting his coin from gear.

bitmain crushed him  or innosilicon crushed him or a third unknown mofo with big money. None-the-less crushed they were.

If you don't see that is what was done to squirrels  well I can not see for you.

Squirrels should not have done preorders  they should have built the gear first.  Then did a few demos then released it.

Now money spent on July 13 (Friday the 13th)  sits and does not a thing  for how long?

in my case it is only 796 I feel for those that jumped in with a big commitment .

This is why gpu mining is better then fpga   since gpus can be purchased all over the world and not fully shut down like fpga's just were.

We need fork fork fork fork fork.

A smart move would be a fortyfour fork coin  just to fight asics  and memory jack it to 9gb

which means only nvidia 1080tis and better can mine.

This is just to say mine is bigger then yours Grin

I know those feelings Wink
Built one computer few months ago , when nVidia Titan V come out Smiley
It really was not built for mining Smiley but actually pretty much used for mining right now Smiley

Mobo : EVGA-299DARK
CPU : Intel Core i9-7980XE
Mem: G.Skill TridentZ RGB Series 64GB (4x16GB)
M2 Drive : Samsung 960 Pro 512GB
PSU: eVGA 1600 T2
VGA : 2x nVidia Titan V
and a few more goodies Smiley 2X water block for Titan V / water block for cpu / thermaltake water cooling sets ...

I built  two pc with and for  buysolar (my solar array partner) last year.

One has the 1950x ripper with four 1080tis and a 2tb ssd and 64gb ram

the other has an intel i9-7980 xe i think  2 1080tis a 1tb ssd and 64gb ram.

my best pcs in  my house

have ryzen 1800x
ryzen 2700

So when I see how the beasts work for buysolar I am thinking of scaling up myself.

19264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 10000 miners on: August 08, 2018, 03:01:36 AM
@ patrike
Any chance you can can have the Avalons deliver full reports on each miner attached to their controller? Currently stats break down to each AUC device reporting the miners attached to it as 1 big miner.

The stats *are* in the api so here's the API log:

I sent a pm I have a client with a really big build more the 30-40k Avalons

I am trying to hook him up with you for software need.

Please check ou my pm

I quoted fuzzy because my client has the same question.

He wants to be able to find bad units   And with 40 k units using 3000 rasp pi’s he would want some tweaks.

I can setup contact  if you want.

Overclocking is a never a good thing for cpus like this, back in 2008 when i bought the i7 920, people were overclocking and overvolting, I overclocked and undervolted hehe, that cpu consumed almost 500 watts overclocked,  300w idle. If you luckily hit the silicon lottery then you can undervolt it and keep stock clock, cost wise this is not for mining.

This is just to say mine is bigger then yours Grin

I have always had very good CPUs but never a true state of the art pc.
I am tempted to do it.

40 th and 2100 watts?

4500 usd?

Pricy

I can get 2 innosilicon t2 turbos.

Cost is 3600 on a cc with six months no interest.

That includes shipping.
so if your shipping is included I paid 900 less for 54 th using 3500 watts.

You are 40 th at 2100 watts.

So I use 1400 watts more and I am louder.

In a day that is about 33 kwatts in a month 1000 kwatts at 10 cents that is 100.

So for the first nine months my extra power is paid for.

And I have an extra 14 th Mining for those 9 months.

That is worth 4 a day or 1080.

So at nine months you are 1080 behind maybe less.

After nine months your gear looks better.

Nine months is a long time in crypto .

But you are the only person that shows the gear.

I wish more people I knew had the gear.

For now I will do cc and get innosilicon t2 turbo
19267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX Processors. Has any one ordered it? on: August 08, 2018, 01:57:17 AM
It should do 2.4K on Monero, 8x an 8 core Ryzen. Lower clocks (across all cores) at stock but in my experience with 2 different Threadrippers is that they hash 20-25% over a Ryzen core to core ratio at the same clocks.... so they might do even better.

I'd be careful about overclocking on that x399 Taichi. It's a great motherboard but it's not designed for 250 watts like the second generation TR4 motherboards. I'm confident it will be ok at stock clocks, but I wouldn't overclock it. Smiley

not in the plan.

stock clocks for the ryzen.

If you want to get one to play with... sure, go for it.  If you don’t like it, you can probably flip it and get most of your money back.  But from a mining ROI standpoint, you know it’s not going to be worth it.  Even if it does 2k CN, I could buy 8 RX 5xx (used) for the price of 1 chip and get 6-7k hash pretty easily.

not using under  250 watts Grin

But  I did decide to buy the taichi x399 from newegg today it will allow the 1950x or the new beast 2990wx.

I got multiple promos on the mobo

319 + 20 tax = 339 - 25 pay with master pass = 314 - 40 rebate = 274 - 50 dollar gift card promo = 224 -3 = 221 which is

cheap for that board.
19269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: August 07, 2018, 10:19:31 PM
Thanks for the replies. I didn't know you could voltage mod the L3 all the way down to 700 Watts or so.

Do you know if it can be done without any additional hardware such as a dongle? Because with the sidehack S7-LN mod, you need to buy some special part to communicate with the controller and get it to undervolt.

The tool is all software based. The thread to the tool can be found at the link below.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3546316.0

The thread is full of good information and should answer almost any question you have related to the application.

I could help you out as well if you read the thread and still have questions.

and as I said I have some on hand  with a psu.

I am USA based  so it may not be practical if he is not in the USA

I can get fan speeds down to 2800 which is not crazy loud

I am actually up in Canada so the shipping would kill the deal.

However we checked locally on Craigslist and eBay and there is a bunch for sale nation-wide.

Wondering what a fair price is for these L3+ miners? Looking at Bitmain its around $200 USD, so is $200 USD for a used one with customs paid a fair price?

canada eBay has them for

280 cad
 https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Scrypt-Miner-ANTMINER-L3-US-STock/202390629798?

290 cad
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Bitmain-Antminer-L3-504-MH-s-Litecoin-Miner/142893072558?

If you ran a want to buy here in our market place offer to pay BTC or LTC  I would think  a canadian member would beat those prices since you use crypotcoin to pay.

They will be nice in the winter and besides the 700 watts for 480mh with the software  vs 820 watts for 500 no software

you can lower clock to get lower watts

Hi Philip,

Yea those are the psu im enquiring about.

well I have been looking for a pinout and can't find one , but if you are will to buy one to test and it is a fail I will spring for 35 usd towards the fail.  Lowers your risk to test it out and helps other miners if they buy it.

I am not sure I have any of those breakouts or I would test it my self.  looks like it would be good for a lot of other gear.

almost 2k for a cpu though

There now may be a delay on the larger FPGA The BCU-1525

I do not know how it affects the Acorn 215+ or another gear made by squirrels.

Note:

I read the issue was a specialty cap  on the discord channel.

For tinfoil hat people I think Xilink has a major contract/relationship with you guessed it bitmain {not sure}

I guess if bitmain squeezed the supply chain here it means  they thought this was good gear and are attacking them  but thats a tinfoil hat theory.

Does not matter  why the gear is held up only that it is held up.

BCU-1525 delayed. I am wondering what would happen to Acorn release schedule

BCU-1525 delayed. I am wondering what would happen to Acorn release schedule

The BCU was delayed by Xilinx who makes both the FPGAs and the board that is the BCU1525. Xilinx is delayed due to unavailability of other components used to make the BCU, not the actual FPGA itself. SQRL is facilitating the BCU orders, if I understand correctly, not making the boards.

Any project could be delayed if they needed the same components that Xilinx is waiting for, Acorn included.

Supply chain stuff is complicated, and most companies try to have multiple suppliers for most components to prevent this from happening. Sometimes there is only one supplier for a critical component, and that supplier has a problem, well, you are SOL. It's also not usually easy to get a new supplier online in a short period of time, especially if high volumes of components are needed. Not to mention those suppliers also have existing customers with contracts...

BCU-1525 delayed. I am wondering what would happen to Acorn release schedule

My guess is that it will get delayed too. A common delay cause is chip fabrication, which is shared amongst various manufacturers.
Once again, what really bothers me is that (regardless of what GPUHoarder suggested), I am not getting any responses to my questions from SQRL support. It is one thing to have some very smart people designing new system and the other (often neglected in Crypto world) providing a support structure of a company that deals with customers efficiently.

All my remaining gpus  are paid for.

I have 12x 1080ti's  mostly pointed at BTG

the 8 1080tx earn about .4 btg a day  or 10-11 usd

my power cost is  1.80 a day so I net around 9 dollars on these 8 cards  maybe 8 a day

or 240 a month

and BTG is vulnerable to a new asic attack if a new asic is built.

Looking forward to the test runs.

Not sure how far out we are from an A9, these are just an optimized version of the 841, and from what you have on the label it looks like just that. I wonder if the voltage settings will work the same as they did for the 841 for this model.

I don't think Canaan will be going the integrated PSU route again, sounds like the 761's were a disaster to deal with. Personally I'd rather source my own PSU anyways.

I don't mind not having the built in psu  which would have been a 861  I found info on it.

The 851 simply appears  to hash  at 14.5 th and 1450 watts

It did not work chained to the   841 chain

but the new rasp pi arrives today should have this running soon
