1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Questions RE: setting up Lightning Node on Raspberry Pi with Stadicus' guide on: February 24, 2019, 09:33:00 AM
This shouldn't have happened unless you included '*' after golang* which causes the deletion of all packages. We would be able to access your funds remotely if we had your admin.macaroon and tls certificate. Without them, the only solution I can think of is to shut down your Pi completely and copy the wallet and the channel state files. Technically, backing up .lnd folder should be enough and I would advise you to copy the whole folder once you shut down your Pi. Channel.db is located in /home/username/.lnd/data/graph/mainnet and wallet.db in /home/username/.lnd/data/chain/bitcoin/mainnet

Don't install Go using apt-get golang. Do it manually. Enter the following commands as a root:

cd /usr/local/ && sudo wget https://dl.google.com/go/go1.11.5.linux-armv6l.tar.gz
sudo tar -xvf go1.11.5.linux-armv6l.tar.gz

Now, run these commands as the user in whose directory you want to use Go and log in again.

export GOROOT=/usr/local/go
echo 'export GOPATH=$HOME/go' >> ~/.profile
echo 'PATH="$HOME/go/bin:$PATH"' >> ~/.profile

1943  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet being attacked on: February 23, 2019, 10:09:36 PM
No need to check the signature since I already downloaded from the original website.

There is always a slight chance that the file might have been temporarily replaced by an attacker with a malicious one. Verifying signature takes less than a minute and it can save you a lot of problems.
1944  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: uninstall two factor on electrum wallet on: February 23, 2019, 10:49:53 AM
You were given 12 words during the initial setup of your wallet. Even if your phone breaks, you will be able to restore your coins without having to depend on TrustedCoin since the seed contains 2 out of 3 private keys (only two are needed to sign a transaction). As for the first question, you have to generate a new, standard wallet and send your coins to it after recovering it with the seed.
1945  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to Generate a signed BTC transaction using Electrum and Trezor on: February 23, 2019, 10:30:34 AM
I wonder if ledger has also this kind of security, well maybe, since their both hardware wallet. Maybe I should email them too and confirm this or else.

It does have this kind of security. Ledger and Trezor are a bit different. Trezor hardware and software is fully open-soure so that anyone can build it up from the scratch while Ledger believes in security through obscurity. Ledger has a limited amount of space because of built-in Secure Element. Ledger wrote a good article on why they decided to use it. You can find it here.
1946  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Which wallets support BIP 39 seed? on: February 20, 2019, 10:34:00 AM
The most popular hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor, Keepkey) support BIP39 but I guess that you are not interested in buying any of them. As for the software ones, I would recommend Electrum but it only allows to import such seed. If you want to generate a BIP39 seed then use this website while being offline.
1947  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Discussion Thread on: February 19, 2019, 10:02:10 PM
Eclair mobile testnet now supports receiving funds over the Lightning Network! Once you enable receiving, the default refund delay will change from 144 to 2016 blocks (~2 weeks). The wallet informs user how much he can receive (the current state of liquidity of each channel). Mainnet version is going to be released in a few weeks. More information can be found here.
1948  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Restore wallet using BIP39 on: February 19, 2019, 09:00:12 PM
I'll do this way. Which standart will you advise BIP32 or BIP44?

I would choose BIP44 since it allows to easily generate multiple accounts. This website provides BIP32 Derivation Path which you will need while importing your seed or private key to Electrum. It's much easier to maintain multiple accounts than play around with coin control which many people don't know have to perform correctly.
1949  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: LNchat.org - dedicated LN community site with various built-in LN functionality on: February 19, 2019, 07:51:40 PM
Regarding the usage of lightning network for chat payments, isn't twitter going to be attempting a similar kind of experiment, potentially on a much larger scale and of course with a lot of folks who have the ability to use such lightning system and initially have no clue about either bitcoin or lightning for that matter?

https://www.coindesk.com/you-can-now-send-bitcoin-tips-over-lightning-on-twitter

It is a private project which requires users to install a Chrome extension. It allows users to tip others - similar to what we would like to introduce on LNchat. It won't affect one's ability to tweet unlike our idea of how posts and threads would have to be paid for.
1950  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: [ESHOP launched] Trezor: Bitcoin hardware wallet on: February 19, 2019, 05:10:23 PM
Many of you might be unaware of the fact that Trezor supports passphrases. Trezor T generates only 12 word seed by default which for some people might feel a bit insecure. A passphrase acts as an additional, 13th or 25th word of your seed without which no one will be able to access your funds. It's quite useful for people who are afraid that they might be forced to unlock their wallet. You can find more information in the article published by Trezor today.
1951  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Restore wallet using BIP39 on: February 19, 2019, 03:31:05 PM
I got it now. So I think it would be better to generate seed not in Electrum, but in other BIP39 services and then use Electrum.

You can use the website you linked earlier, but If I were you I would generate the seed while being offline. Save that page as a file and run it locally. It would be great if you could do it on a different computer which is certainly not infected by any malware.
1952  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Discussion Thread on: February 19, 2019, 01:52:27 PM
I would appreciate if any of you could take a look at this thread created by me in the project development section.

Where can we find Lightning's transaction success rate for varying amounts?

It's impossible to obtain accurate data since channels do not announce how much of their balance is available for routing.

If Lightning transactions has a 10% success rate to purchase one whole pizza from Domino's, then I will be the first person to post it.

If you live in the US then you can test it out and get additional 5% off for using the LN - ln.pizza
1953  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Restore wallet using BIP39 on: February 19, 2019, 01:42:54 PM
Electrum supports importing BIP39 seeds, but it generates them differently and that's why any Electrum seed is incompatible with other wallets. You can easily export your private key by selecting Wallet -> Private keys -> Export. Also, try to avoid typing in your seed online. It might lead to loss of funds if your computer is infected. There were a few malicious online private key generators in the past.
1954  Bitcoin / Project Development / LNchat.org - dedicated LN community site with various built-in LN functionality on: February 18, 2019, 11:02:46 PM

I would like to present you an idea with which I and Zand_ came up while we were solving his Lightning Network node problems. We would like to create a place where people could easily discuss Lightning Network related problems and projects. Some tutorials are out-of-date which makes it even more difficult to start using the Lightning Network. We would like to fix that by rewriting and keeping them in one place. I have already made two long threads on bitcointalk (Basics of the Lightning Network and The Lightning Network FAQ) which I believe helped quite a few people to understand what it is all about.

We would like to encourage people to use the Lightning Network by introducing a small fee for adding a new thread or post. There would be a section excluded from this rule for inexperienced users where they could describe a problem which makes it impossible for them to pay the fee. We would like to implement a system similar to the merit on bitcointalk. It would be great to see people thanking each other by sending a few satoshis. We are aware that some people won't be able to generate the invoice at specific time so we will handle it instead and pay out the reward on demand.

We would appreciate if you could answer a couple of our questions.

1) Which forum software would you prefer? Invision Community or Discourse?

2) Do you like the idea of paying a small fee (e.g. 1 satoshi) for making a post?

3) What do you think is an appropriate cost for posting a thread vs a comment?

4) What other functionality would you like to see in the site?

5) What features do you think could be added to further incentivize use of the site?

6) Which name do you prefer? lnchat.org or lightningchat.org? Both domains have been already bought by us
1955  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Deposit and Withdrawal at the same time ?? on: February 18, 2019, 07:15:21 PM
I´m pretty sure that my Win7 Dell is very well protected... and it was powered on, I was controlling it remotely from my phone. Well, I assume that the most probable case is the bug-thing. Good to know...

Never ever gonna use Electrum anymore.

It's not Electrum's fault that you haven't kept it up-to-date (now it notifies users about available updates). It looks like your computer has been infected with some kind of malware so I would recommend scanning it with Malwarebytes. Consider buying a hardware wallet. Even if your computer is compromised, your funds won't be spent without your knowledge (unless someone finds your seed or there is a bug which requires a physical access to the device).
1956  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Deposit and Withdrawal at the same time ?? on: February 18, 2019, 07:02:07 PM
Everything seems to be fine from the side of the ATM operator since you received those coins. It looks like you used that wallet 3 years ago so I assume that you have generated it on your own. Was your PC powered on when you received this transaction? There was a bug which was fixed in Electrum 3.0.5 which allowed malicious websites to steal coins from passwordless wallets.
1957  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Get ready for Ledger Nano S firmware update to 1.5 - January! on: February 14, 2019, 04:22:46 PM
Ledger is going to work on bringing back the original capacity of the Nano S. Many people have been complaining that they can have only 3 apps installed after the 1.5.5 update. At the same time, Ledger announced a new model whose memory was much bigger.

1959  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Discussion Thread on: February 11, 2019, 02:50:06 PM
Question. If I put 1 BTC into a channel and one of my connections uses that to make a payment, so it goes to the other end of my channel. Do I have to wait until someone uses that channel to send it back the other way?  Or would I just deposit more BTC? Or would I close the channel and start all over again?

The maximum amount of BTC that can be locked up in a channel is currently about 0.16 BTC. You would have to wait for someone to send back some coins through you or close the channel and reopen it. If you are not interested in payment routing and want to avoid such situation then you can either create a private channel which cannot be seen by other nodes or set your fee policy so high that your route won't be efficient.
1960  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unable to 'save' transaction in watch-only wallet. (for cold storage) on: February 09, 2019, 09:16:37 PM
There might be a different solution but I would try getting libsecp256k1 to work. Here you can find a short guide on installing it. You wrote that this message appeared on your Raspberry Pi so I assume that you had managed to prepare the transaction on the laptop and transfered it to your Pi.
