1941  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elderly mother giving money to a televangelist. on: May 01, 2014, 08:26:47 PM
My mother, who is incredibly religious and is slowly slipping into dementia, has started giving money to Andrew Micheal's. I consider this guy an ass-clown, not because he is a Christian, because he is a 'faith healer'. I know that my mother is giving money to this guy because I monitor her bank accounts and email. Yeah, it sounds horrible to watch someone like this and it is. I don't trust her ability to make informed decisions and she has proven in the past that she is easily manipulated. If I was a 'Christian' the conversation would probably go a lot better. Because I am the spawn of Satan, aka an atheist, anytime I bring up something remotely religious it becomes a major issue between us. I'm trying to figure out how to convince her without seeming like I'm insulting her beliefs. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

OK, you need to get full Power of Attorney or guardianship before she gets so far gone that you can't and the courts intervene.

With full POA or guardianship you can stop the donations and preserve her funds as she will for sure need them in future.

Hit up your local lawyer.

My $.02.

Wink

This is the right answer. Let her know that you're concerned about her running out of money and offer to take over her finances. Unfortunately this will create more work for you, but you'll be able to preserve her wealth. You can tell her to make a list of organizations that you'll donate to after she's gone and no longer needs the money for herself.

Don't bother to argue about religion or discredit the preacher. Anything you say that runs counter to her existing beliefs will be dismissed as Satan's attempts to deceive her.
The problem is, it is his mother after all - so maybe he doesn't want to do that.
Or he has brothers / sisters, which would make the issue more complicated.
1942  Other / Off-topic / Re: Elderly mother giving money to a televangelist. on: May 01, 2014, 08:11:35 PM
it's their choice to naively donate to people they shouldn't be though. it kind of bugs me too, but they are just doing what they want to.. you can't stop that.
In this situation it's not her choice. She is being manipulated.

it's her choice to be manipulated. no one's holding a gun to her head.

If you were slipping into Dementia, would you want somebody to trust you?

Dementia:

http://www.webmd.com/alzheimers/guide/alzheimers-dementia

It's pretty easy to manipulate a good percentage of the people who have it.

we don't know that she has dementia. that's apples to oranges.
Are you serious? OP said so in the first post.

Looks like an awesome idea. Best of luck! Smiley

1946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BETA][EXCHANGE][REALTIME] CoinEX realtime exchange on: May 01, 2014, 07:37:16 PM
Is it really over? Withdraw says the address is wrong. Are my coins stuck in there till they take down the site Sad
Some people (like flipstyle) are saying the form works - but the withdrawal stays 'in queue.'
Which coin were you trying withdrawing? Have you tried with a different address?

Has anyone received a withdrawal recently?

I am trying to withdraw Zetacoin. I have tried 3 different addresses and it says the address is invalid.
Maybe they have "switched off" some currencies?
Another option I can think of is that maybe they used the wallet program to validate addresses, and it's not even running - so the website won't be able to tell whether your address it's valid or not.
Did you deposit recently?

I deposited yesterday and didn't know this was going on. I noticed that you can generate addresses for some coins like BTC, DEM, FRE, LKY, LTC, NVC, PHS, TAG, and UNO. I wonder if that means you can also withdraw from those as well.

Have the developers gone MIA and abandoned this?

I 'deposited' btc about 10 days ago, confirmed on the
blockchain but nothing in my wallet.

And they give zero response, if they are trying to resolve,
one thing is for sure they sure don't know how to treat
customers!
If they were trying to resolve anything, they would let customers know. 10 days is too much time.

i 100% agree with you, but centralizing merchant adoption around bitpay and coinbase (any others?) is not a solution to the problem, it is just building a problem on top of a problem. Real merchant adoption of bitcoin can't happen until the price is more stable, which will probably be when people stop using Bitcoin as a store of value( i am guilty of this) and actually as a method of transacting online.

and guys we have to realize that there will be not much transactions this year at bitcoin accepting cafes or restaurants, maybe few people a months, so we are talking 100.00 maybe 200.00 euro, if there is bitcoin conferance in the city maybe more. So there is not so much risk for this small bussines to accepted and take a small risk or maybe big reward. coinbase and bitpay are concentrating on the big fishes, they are not much interested in small merchants, they just made a website for them and they charge 1% transaction fee for useing it, i think they should be free solution to this
Well, with 1% fee it's still cheaper than the card networks. However I understand that some businesses (like cafés) are get paid mainly in cash, where they don't have to pay any transaction fees - so it might seem like they're losing money.

But when you look at the problem, you'll notice accepting Bitcoin, even with a 1% fee, will drive customers to your business (maybe not many yet, but definitely some) which it would never had otherwise had - so that 1% is basically nothing compared to not having had those sales to start with.

3) It's so easy, it can be integrated into a checkout workflow
Does this mean businesses can receive BTC while buyers paying with their bank accounts?

We need more of these around europe, especially near russia.
In Russia and the countries around there, people are more used to these kind of kiosks. So I guess they would be successful.

No, it ended on Easter (April 20). However I hope PBmining releases another promotion soon - this one has been really successful (see the amount of pages this thread has).

Someone put a fake sell wall @120 to scare buyers and accumulate cheap doges. They will sure remove it when the price comes close.

Head over to Prelude.io.  I just bought 1.3M Đ @ 114

1,287,573.82842648 DOGE (1.46783416 BTC) remaining to be sold at 0.00000114 at prelude.io right now.

Some of your minions are posting the most unconstructive garbage, and I don't want my posts to be ignored as spam.

I do not get what you just said..
It's an idiom.

not see the forest for the trees

not see the wood for the trees
Company officials were so involved in the talks, they couldn't see the forest for the trees and didn't realize their employees were willing to strike.

.06 btc

Ok. I too got my amount struck not in pools but I accidentally deleted the text file with priv key in it.

And how would you have transfered it if you hadn't deleted it?
There are lots of ways of sweeping a private key (transferring funds from a private key to another address).
1960  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Hash-Master.com --- is it legit? on: May 01, 2014, 03:51:33 PM
I live about 20 minutes away from that address. I contacted them via their messaging system asking if I could buy/pick-up from them in person since they're so close. That was about 3 days ago. Haven't heard back from them.

Also, I found another business with the same address:

http://www.isobeauty.com/contact

Seems shady as fuck.

Edit: I also saw that they removed negative feedback from their website. The feedback that was removed was for their Blade Miner and was along the lines of "I payed via Paypal. I haven't received anything. No one is returning my emails. I think I got scammed."
I think that, it it wasn't enough with the other things we've said, just because of that last note, you should be very careful with these guys.
