I usually buy %10 of my monthly wage but sometimes more. I'd never measure the minimum though. Even I have 1$ I can buy BTC.

That never changed much for me.
Buying all the way up since 2014

I mean if you got Bitcoin right (i.e. you know its monetary policy, how new coins are created, how to store your funds...) what's the problem holding? I've always been here for the long run.

A piece of history for the Real r0ach, when he was talking about missing trains..... Wink

Well, six months ago 68% of the coins were already mined.  Why wasn't the price ~$340 back then?

Didn't investor know then that, within six months, 70% of the coins would be mined?

Easy, because everyone wants to buy "at the bottom", so the bottom comes and sits there for an entire year while they look at the screen and say, "hmm seems pretty stable here, looks like the bottom is in, but I think i'll wait and see if there's a flash crash, then I'll buy some then".  Then the train starts to leave without them and they realize they're a fucking idiot.

That and shorters are good at keeping the price from moving...until they fail and lose everything:

Wow.  An hour between posts.  Is Wall Observer dead?

I usually take the chance to go back and read some very insightful comments made here by a few of you which always remind me why I landed here in the first place!

Don't forget that hash rate being deployed now was likely ordered in Q1 18 or in the bubble. [...]

Google trends for Bitcoin looks pretty poor right now.

Exactly, Hashrate looks to be a lagging indicator due to equipment production time, with miners banking on future increases in price since they've already missed the last run up.

I would argue that Google trends is also a lagging indicator, albeit on a much shorter time frame. Price has to increase first before interest is stoked enough to spur newcomers to search for bitcoin. There is less need for already indoctrinated bitcoiners to search, they already know where they want to go to buy/research/etc.

I would further argue that price is a lagging indicator of fundamental analysis and good news. Whereas FUD is a nearly instantaneous indicator of price decreases, good news takes a while to build enough confidence to trigger buying much less FOMO.

Going back to google trends, the more people already know about bitcoin, the less impact it will have on search engines. MSM has replaced a lot of the need to google, now that CNBC etc have a price ticker and reporting.

You don't see stock market search terms responding that much to google trends even in times of wild volatility. Bitcoin still drawing more searches than key stock market terms.

In fact, stock market search spikes on google trends seem inversely correlated to price - they represent major sell offs! Careful what you wish for.

edit:

Meanwhile, on Wall St:
‘Beware’: Jamie Dimon and Warren Buffett Double Down as Bitcoin Critics

Classic.

Jamie "Do What I Say Not What I Do" Dimon, as JP Morgan continues to formulate crypto strategies.
Warren "I only invest in what I understand" Buffet, who quite possibly just learned about Apple and maybe even the Internet sometime last year.

Nice, very interesting! thanks

That one took longer than usual to finish this barting.
Next round then. My policy is not to have any funds on the exchanges unless necessary otherwise I would have profited greatly from the barting happening lately

That is to me an accurate chart on price manipulation which is definitely worth to be mentioned here on the WO. The Bart Simpson pattern became a thing and, trust me, I would love if it would cease.
So it goes now, there is not much to do but hey, after the third Bart pattern I started to take some profit and bought a bit more on the way down.
If they play, I will do that too.

To what do you attribute it? I mean more specifically than just "manipulation" generally.

Looking at that so-called "Bart Simpson" chart pattern, I don't really see the mystery. That is exactly what a trading market pattern would look like if you have:

a) major sideways wash trading
b) the float on exchanges being really thin
c) only one or a few whale market participants using large margin
d) volume being led by one or only a few exchanges

Which is the environment we are in right now. The whale is ready to rek anyone who takes up a sizable position in either direction. It could be the exchange owners themselves.

Agree!  Exchange owners are some of the largest and dirties whales around; they are more like Killer Whales acting solely on profit gouging!
Torque definitely put that better than me but at the end of the day I call it price manipulation. If words still mean something Smiley
