1941  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are the ways to learn lesson in easy ways on: May 03, 2023, 01:03:51 PM

the question is how can we try to save newbie's from scams in crypto verse, we and many youtuber are saying that don't send bitcoins, there are many scams, etc. or we should not tell and left them to learn the lesson in hard way, I already listened many people those are in crypto for a while they said many things like don't be greedy, stay away from free crypto, etc. but i just listened and not applied and got scamed one time.
One bitter-sweet way to save newbies from scams in the "crypto verse" is to let them learn from a first hand experience of being victim of a scam. Many may disagree on this ideology as been illogical but we all know that when you get a fire burn experience on maybe one of your toe or finger, when you see anything that looks like fire yiu will be the very first to escalate, avoid or distance yourself before anyone else would it.  And OP haven falling a victim of scam has a better understanding than anyone else around him, of the benefits of avoiding any social media, YouTube or online platforms with enticing crypto giveaways.  So at times it's a good thing learning through the hard way as it may save us from bigger victimization in the future.

what are the ways to learn lesson in easy ways and save newbie's from scams?

The easier ways to learn:
1. From other people's experience story.

2. Always ask questions on things you lack understanding about, don't be too quick to engage (FOMO).

3.Stay away from greed as crypto and greed don't go well together.
1942  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: May 02, 2023, 10:15:56 PM
HT Arsenal 3-0 Chelsea.

Chelsea once again showed lack of improvement as they managed to concede only 3goals before the half time. 3goals scored in less than 35 minutes for the Arsenal team showed how angry and determined they are after dropping points against Southampton and losing against bitter rivals Manchester city. What will be the fate of the Chelsea coach Frank Lampard after losing once against Arsenal knowing that he can't take the Chelsea team to her promise land.
I had thought we could see about 3 or 4 goals scored in this match and I was right. The match is in its 60th minute now and Arsenal is ahead by three goals. Arsenal is the obvious better of the two in this game and it’s being proven by how both teams are playing.
Chelsea has had only two shots on goal and one being on target. That’s a really poor performance as it looks like another loss for Chelsea. Arsenal surely looks determined to win this game and really hungry for more goals.
Nothing is expected for Chelsea they are still very difficult to recover but I see the players are not making a good contribution to the game whereas Prank Lampard can't change the strategy that is applied for that change is absolutely nothing.
It is clear that Arsenal will definitely win with big goals. They don't want to lose points, so this match is a better opportunity for Arsenal because it will continue to be close to its rival, Man City.

Long tail for Chelsea I don't think this team will change except later in the coming season.
3:1at the moment.
This is a sure lucky game for Arsenal, and looking at the table, they have returned to the first position once again with 2 points ahead of their closest rival, Manchester city, the game still have less than 10 minutes to end if no extra time is added, I am hoping things remain as they currently are in this last minute, but if at all anything would change, let it better be in favor of Arsenal, I don't want them to lose any point from what theyve already earned..
Fingers crossed for the final whistle.
Well Yes! Your prayers did came true as Arsenal are currently back to the top of the table but very well not for long as their closest rival Manchester City are closing up with them edge to edge with a two outstanding matches yet to be played. Chelsea we know have had a very bad season for the past months and currently with a coach that have lost five of his games making it six for tonight's game against arsenal, so the victory for arsenal in tonight's game was expected.

Two points ain't enough to keep City away from lifting the EPL trophy this season back to back. So therefore, arsenal should should forget on winning the EPL this season as their hopes on winning it was dashed right from their three consecutive draws thereby dropping points to the advantage of City.
1943  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Fish arcade on: May 02, 2023, 03:08:22 PM
I was wondering if anyone made a fish arcade game (king of treasure, ocean king, etc.)with bitcoin or alt coins yet?
It’s very popular in Hawaii for about 10+years
I may not from Hawaii but I know about the game you're talking about. It's an interesting game no doubt but it's kind of viewed as a child's game and as such crypto enthusiasts of matured minds wouldn't gain interest in expending their time and money on it and that's why you just haven't seen it on any crypto casinos, cause they understand it won't give them the kind of market they need. In other words, it wouldn't be good for market.  So OP, stick to the ones you have over there in Hawaii and play it for fun not more nothing less.

I just thought I could drop this piece of words of inspiration for my personal experience, before this time, I have been discouraged and pushed back from being active here in the forum even though I have been here since 2021, to be sincere with you guys each time I try to be more active and write some posts I always feel discouraged and afraid because I don't know what to say that will be interesting to my readers or having the needed technicality knowledge to make me stand out this feeling have affected my activeness in the past.
Since 2021, that's almost about three years now, enough time to have being acquainted with lots about the community and every basics you feel you need to know right now. The forum is more like a social gathering of persons from different walks of life and location and no one is here to impress or be impressed by anyone.

Such feelings as yours usually stems from a low self-esteem personality which eliminates all believe on yourself that you can give out  something worth reading absorbing intimidation into you that have mad you stayed away for since 2021 you created your account.

Now that you have taken the bold step to make a difference, I think you should start with reading more of others posts in the forum than being in a hurry to makes yours, as in that way you will be guided on how to create quality post and contribute to the forum

1945  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitcoin market is back on track on: May 02, 2023, 10:00:04 AM
Bitcoin touched its all-time high of $31K which is the 2023 market high. When the market reached $31K we had an idea that the Bitcoin market would soon reach $100K.
Thinking like this, suddenly the market was running down gradually. At other times, the market usually goes down very slowly, but during this period, the market started to go down very quickly and gradually, on 23-04-24 at 22:00, the price of Bitcoin reached $26,942.

After reaching $26,942, the Bitcoin market started to turn positive again. And by today very quickly the Bitcoin market reached $30,036.

Basically I do not understand the reason for so much volatility in the market. Is this volatility a good sign of the market or a bad sign of the market?
The market volatility that played out this past days is psychologically related. What I mean by this is that, just like the bitcoin price drop down to $26,942 on 23-04-2023 and later pulled up to $30,036 within a few time. This action  action by the market price must have triggered some fears in the minds of many trading during the price fall, especially for those that  might have bought when bitcoin price was  $19k - $20k around March, and seeing price going down again after some few rising, out of fear some might have been forced to close their trade within the little profit position to take a little profit.

And that's exactly what the  market wanted. The volatility is just a test of the strength of the market psychology of many traders. A technical way to make more profit in such situation is to DCA,  and that was exact action I took immediately I observed a double bottom chart forming, because the volatility from my observation is a positive sign on the market price.
1946  Economy / Economics / Re: SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN on: May 01, 2023, 08:49:36 PM
.

👉👉Use cash only
Shopping using card look more convenient and most time encourages you to buy unnecessary things even out of plans. I really observed I spend more money(even more than 20% of my salary) on airtime only any month I load airtime directly from my bank account through USSD. This is so convenient that immediately I exhausted my airtime when calling, I just dial the USSD code to get another. This doesn't help you financially. You get to stop.
For a 100 times I have being to the mall I can say I have for 80 times bought a few more items I never budgeted for before going for shopping. And that's because my debit is handy,  but you don't expect me trade my convenience for the sake of the believe that I might save more if I have to go with cash at hand instead of my card.

There certain times that having the card could be a life saver where your cash is exhausted and you just remembered you needed to get something very needful at home.  One just have to discipline himself to spend based on scale of preference be it with cash or card. Simple.
Quote

Knowing your Credit and Debit Card Number offhand isn't helpful for you. It makes you shop unnecessarily online. Using cash-only envelope budgeting system can help you minimize your spendings and sticks to budget.
Practically disagree with this part as there's no way you can't have knowledge of your password or card number offhand. No way, except there's a memory problem somewhere.

👉👉Shopping with a list
This is a lifesaver and a game changer. It’s so simple! Literally, all you have to do is write down what you need in the house that week. Make the list, and stick to it. If you only need to get chicken and vegetables and some pasta at the house for the week, there’s no reason for you to be going to the snack food section. It’s a trap!
Shopping with a list is another wonderful form of mitigating unnecessary purchases items in the market. It's like a roadmap, a route already set to be followed and digressing becomes a bit difficult except in rare cases.
1947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: May 01, 2023, 04:11:32 PM
Gambling is an art that's meant to be followed with pure discipline and self set rules of limitations without which a gambler is bond to take up any act to making sure he or she stays in the game no matter the consequences that may follow from such action. Primarily when a gambler lacks a discipline in himself towards gambling habit then he is heading forward to addiction and the resultant effect is such as this one with the case of kidnapping to raise funds as to keep up with the gambling addiction.

As gamblers we should learn how to express ourselves to our close trusted friends and relations on what we're passing through indulging in gambling as this can be helpful when we learn to share a struggling addictive lifestyle before it gets worsen.
1948  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which are best stake alternatives on: May 01, 2023, 03:36:19 PM
The type of alternative you're looking for in supplant of stakes depends on the features you are looking forward from any other platform. Like do you need an alternate that has a sport betting plus casino games platform or you're looking for something with just casino games or much more than that. Reasons is that almost all the gambling platforms provides same gambling services with a bit of a little difference in their features, except for security, KYC (privacy), better odds, and reputation that makes the much difference.
1949  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining ? on: May 01, 2023, 01:23:53 PM
Hello Bitcointalk

sorry if I been so dummy but I was hearing words like Mining BTC can someone explain to to me with simple words ? I searched and found many ways but they all seem so fishy to me so if someone can give me just a small hint here

Thanksss  Kiss
Simply put, mining could be described as a process of verifying transactions on a proof of work blockchain and creation of coins through some mathematical puzzle with the use of special computers. And it's advisable to use ASIC miners for your mining https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3469416.0
To get a more rich explanations in additions to the ones other members have given, I'll recommend you move your thread to mining board.

1950  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: April 30, 2023, 05:05:45 PM
Man city had a tough game today against fulham which is understandable since they played away but the most important for them is that they won they deserved it since they dominated the game, now they are the leaders and i don't think arsenal will be able to catch up.
For the past three years Manchester City has been dominating the EPL and the EPL it's likely going to the way of the "farmer league" as a result of this continuous dominance over the years, and it really doesn't show competitiveness as we obvious know of the EPL title contenders within the top four teams.

And my contention is that if they are that strong enough then they should win the champions league as anything short of that,  simply implies that the other clubs in the EPL ain't good enough as we think them to be
1951  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: April 30, 2023, 06:39:20 AM
Poker is like a game of chance, whoever has the best hands on the table is predicated to winning the game. And ChatGPT can't possibly pick or be in the knowing of which cards in particular shall fall in the hands of either of any player, except the game is manipulative.

In my opinion, using Chat GPT in poker is assume to be another form of collusion (cheating) which is yet to be viewed same way by others. But I don't see in any way AI is going to outsmart human intelligence even though they're believed to makes tasks easier and fast achieved.

1954  Other / Meta / Re: Local Ukrainian Thread on: April 29, 2023, 09:32:13 PM

I can't read your language and Russian language, but my assumption you guys are more active in Russian board, correct?

That's make @theymos think no need to create Ukrainian board because Russian board is already enough.

No offence, but considering the ongoing war russia started against Ukraine, I believe it is a little bit cruel to suppose that Ukrainian speaking users would want to write in russian board, communicate with local members and be cool with that.

The fact, that most Ukrainians know russian language does not mean that they would not like to have their own board where they can communicate in their own language.

In the first place you guys shouldn't have merged into Russian board knowing some day you would be requesting for your own Ukrainian board. Having Ukrainian participating actively in Russia local board eliminates any need to create a Ukraine owned local board.

Like what is the possibility that if given the board at this moment that almost all Ukrainians actively participating in Russia board instead of your local thread would wanna resort to using the local board when currently they aren't showing convincing participation in your local thread but rather flooding that of Russia. Have you considered the activeness of Pakistans in their local thread and others compared to that of Ukraine but are yet to have a local child board of theirs.

Am not against anyone requesting for a local board but from your statement it's obvious your idea was borne out due to the ongoing war between the two warring countries. And we're hopeful this war is going to end very soon for normalcy to take it's course. But then the war shouldn't be a locus point why you should be demanding a local board of yours. When the timing is ripe am sure @Theymos in his discretion would definitely see to it's ratification.
1955  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading or investment! What's your take? on: April 29, 2023, 06:28:21 PM
There's flinching nuance that makes the difference between trading and investment, and this nuance is only but a function of time. Mainly when you hear someone telling you he's trading, what comes to mind is that it's just something of a matter of few minutes, hours or at most few days stuff, but unlike investment, immediately you hear the word the first thing that comes to mind is long-term plan. So there's a difference in time set between the two but still they both demand strategy, analysis and experience all for profit making. For anyone to choose to trading or investment, it all depends on what their prospect seems like.
1956  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Difference between long and short term investments in crypto on: April 29, 2023, 12:47:22 PM

One of the advantages of short term investment in crypto is that it offers quick returns on investment. Traders can buy low and sell high in a matter of days, hours, or minutes, allowing them to take advantage of market volatility and earn their profits. But these quick returns come with alot of risks. Sudden price fluctuations can result in major losses for the investor as well.
Despite the advantages that follows, newbies at trading shouldn't be advised to take on short term investment or trades on any cryptocurrency's but a long term investment will be fine at the moment while you take much time to keep yourself abreast with every techniques regarding with crypto trading.  You may ask, Why start with long-term investment plan? That's because it doesn't need a broad knowledge to start, you just buy and hold patiently for longer period of a year or more as the case may be, without having to deal with technicalities as in the case with short term ( minutes, days, hours or a week's).

Quote

For those willing to hold their investments for extended periods of time, long term investment may be a great option, as it comes with fewer risks and higher potential gains.
If anyone want to take on a long term investment plan it should be on a coin you're confident about and not just a random coin as most alts don't even survive a year before going extinct, so to be on the safe side bitcoin is most preferable for longer investment.
1957  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't know if am right or wrong about this. on: April 28, 2023, 10:04:24 PM
Trading of bitcoin has been one of my source of income for quite some time now but find it difficult to tell some other persons to engage in trading because of the risk involved.

Last week a friend of mine saw me trading so he tried to know more about it, at first I never wanted to tell him due to the risk involved, but then based of his persistence I first of all explained to him the difference between spot trade and futures, but I told him I do only spot, how  I buy low and sell high, even as I was explaining it to him I was feeling uncomfortable because of the risk.

I don't want a situation whereby someone will say that I scammed him if there is a sudden dip in the crypto industry, so I just told him to open a binance account and verify it, after then, he should get back to me so I can send him the hard copy of the crypto course I bought.
Uptil now I still feel uncomfortable about it, I don't know if am wrong or right for opening up, even though I told him of the risk involved.
I see you're worried about your friend and you fear he might end up having series of losses and a blown account and which you don't want to have it blamed on you. It's an evidence of a good conscience you possess but the truth is that you ain't doing anything wrong at the moment. You have told him in clear term about the risks involved and he still persist in wanting to learn how to trade. So take him onboard, I believe his interest will drive him to be a good trader eventually.

My candid advise to you is to make sure to also make it clear to your friend not to put into trading an amount he can't afford to lose. In this way since it's inevitable he  may make losses in the beginning he would only have to consider those losses as part of an experience in his trading journey and wouldn't be affected psychologically by the losses.

You talk about using binance for your trading, hope you understand binance is a centralized exchange and it's risking leaving your money their especially in periods you ain't trading. Why not create a non-custodial wallet where you would have your money stored there only to use it on binance when trading and a return to your wallet after being done with your trade. It's important. I'll want to use this opportunity to introduce to you AgoraDesk, a no KYC exchange platform for your convenience and privacy. You might want to give it a try.

1958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today is the story of my investment in Bitcoin on: April 28, 2023, 02:40:51 PM
This story would have been more convenient if you had use your own personal money only in taking up such bitcoin investment plan, as it's never a wise or advisable idea to take up loan to finance bitcoin investment.

The two years investment plan you have put in mind to keep hoping to get back between 100% - 500% profit is under probability to come through, this is because the market is a volatile one and there's a possibility that the market may experience a bad moment by then. In such situation what then is your contingency plan in repaying your loans?
1959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria continuous banning of crypto on: April 28, 2023, 07:11:24 AM
Nigeria has had a complicated relationship with cryptocurrencies. In February 2021, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued a circular prohibiting banks and other financial institutions from servicing cryptocurrency exchanges, effectively banning crypto trading in the country. The CBN cited concerns around the use of cryptocurrencies for money laundering and terrorist financing.

This move was met with criticism from the crypto community in Nigeria, as well as from some government officials and lawmakers who saw the ban as a barrier to innovation and economic growth.

However, the ban was recently lifted in October 2021, allowing Nigerians to once again participate in the crypto market. Despite this, the crypto market has continued to experience volatility, influenced by various global and local factors such as regulatory actions, market sentiments, and economic conditions
I don't really understand why an underdeveloped country would impose a ban on an innovation that can literally help their economy grow better and help the country and their people to have better lives and more income opportunities. I believe developing or underdeveloped countries should be the ones who should be more welcoming to a technology like blockchain and cryptocurrencies in general.

What do they really want to achieve by creating all these complications or by banning cryptocurrencies within the country? The government should let the people have their freedom with it and if they want, they should try to regulate it if they can.
It's not about being develop or underdevelop as a country or people, it's about the kind of leaders a country have as leaders in government. In the case of Nigeria I perceive a system of deliberate negligence on the people by the government, a situation where the government through the use of legitimate force barring all form of technological source of empowerment such like the cryptocurrency innovation to the timid youths. This act is meant to keep the youths broke, hunger for the scrumps that may fall off from their tables, thereby continuously acting as stooges and rubber stamp tools for their political ambitions.

Hence, should the timid youths have a much means if generating incomes with the free use of cryptocurrency it then pose as a threat to their stronghold on them. This among others are the underlying local factors and sentiment the engulf the whole situation.
1960  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you stay updated on: April 27, 2023, 09:15:05 PM
Interest is what will put you through. Whatever we want to achieve, we must have interest to pursue it and it is the passion we have that will help us to sustain it when it becomes difficult for us to achieve that dream we evisage. Gambling is not easy to win in it. Therefore you need interest and passion first.

my best advise is that you should get DStv dish installed and subscribe to those channels

Not really. Most gamblers in football and boxing don't own DStv or satellite dish to play. It is interest that drives one to game houses to pay a token and watch some games.
You're technically not far from the truth. Interest is what drives everyone to go at any length to be good at what they got an eye on.  I remember as a child growing up I developed so much interest in football due to the team I got an eye on as a fan, to the extent my interest made me to take it upon myself to know all the names of the  first eleven players of the football club I was fanning and more. All of this was possible even without having access to satellite ditch in our home as at then. Cause there was a burning interest.

So OP need to have a burning interest about what he seeks and with no time he would be soaked into the knowledge of that very sports. More so, he should get closer to his relative by visiting more often as he can easily get vital and better understanding informations from there too.
