1941  Other / Meta / Re: My on topic posts are getting deleted on: July 22, 2019, 07:12:20 AM
My question to all four of you:

How is this off topic, irrelevant, redundant?

If you lot delete a post just because someone reported without checking the contents then whoever it is, you are not doing your job properly. You are just coming online, checking the notifications, pressing the delete button not caring for anything else that let's check if this really worth to delete.

That's obviously not how it works. Do you really think mods would act on something without confirming it first? Do you think we would ban someone reported for plagiarism without verifying it first? Of course not. Pffrt has had many of his posts reported and deleted including that one you quoted so if that gets removed then all the posts quoting it are no longer relevant so that's likely why yours was removed.
1942  Other / Meta / Re: A separate board for Bengali language? on: July 21, 2019, 08:39:11 AM
Bengali is the eighth most spoken language in the world and beside being a regional language of India, it's also the official language of the country of Bangladesh Tongue

I kinda feel like it should deserve its own board like other major languages and totally not because it is my native language ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) as it will help the emerging enthusiasts of the people of this language who are not fluent in English and it is hard to communicate through separate threads under the Bengali section in the Indian regional language space as it gives no option to categorize topics rather limit it to a particular discussion at a time.

I don't know if I am posting it in the wrong section or if it is already suggested so be soft on me  Cheesy

It has been requested multiple times before:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4455886.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1496914.0

But I'm not sure if it's necessary right now as the Bengali thread isn't that active. Local subs are only usually added to meet demand when a thread has become messy or unfit for purpose. They're not merely added just because a language is one of the most spoken or an official language of a country. If you want your own sub board then spread the word among Bengalis of this forum and if the local thread grows in popularity then a local board may be added.

Not a great day for Newcastle fans, Steve Bruce the new manager -

https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/steve-bruce-appointed-as-newcastle-united-head-coach/

They also lost 4-0 to Wolves in a pre season game.

I did not follow Newcastle changes at all, whether they have new owners?
there were speculations about Mourinho only if they have new rich owners, and want to spend a lot of money on making a new team.

They don’t have new owners yet, no. If they had uber rich new ownership they wouldn’t have employed Steve ‘never achieved anything’ Bruce. I think Newcastle could be in real danger of relegation this season.

They already have uber rich ownership. He's just a tightwad and won't spend any money. I think that's why Raffa left. My money is on Newcastle to be relegated this season.

^  Nope, no...  Not during Mike Ashley's ownership of the club.  IMHO.  And they could be going down this season.  I should've hedged my Newcastle at top 6 bet with Newcastle to be relegated at 4.5ish a month ago.  Lol.

I put a couple of pre-season bets on which included Newcastle to be relegated.

Does anyone know a sportsbook that does specials on cross tournament accumulators? I want to put a couple of bets on like Liverpool to win the Premier League and Man City to win the Champions League and vice versa.

If anyone wants to sign up for the Premier League predictor pool please check out the thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5154317.0

If you think you know your PL football then put your money where you mouth is and win some prizes. All money is split between the top five winners and the more people that join the bigger the pot gets. Hopefully the price of BTC will rise during the season and stops a couple of days before the next halving so we could end up with an expanding pot like the first pool (though obviously the opposite is also true   Grin).
1944  Other / Meta / Re: Application to be a merit source in the French section on: July 21, 2019, 07:56:31 AM
French people are known to be a pita, I know I am French. The French section needs a fresh addition to the moderation team to avoid this place being ruled by kings and queens. I am not going to go against what it is now, the problem seems to be rooted for a long time, but at least, I will help the ones who need and spread good positive karma and re-balance.

That's the purpose of my application.

If you're interested in becoming a moderator here then show that you know the rules and are an active member by reporting lots of posts that break the forum rules. When moderators are needed usually the best barometer of their suitability is their report history and accuracy of those reports so if you're interested in being a mod then get reporting, but there's no quick way to become one and a mere high report count isn't a guarantee of anything but it's the best way of showing that you'd be a worthy addition to forum staff.
1945  Other / Meta / Re: Low quality posts ( 7 days ) on: July 21, 2019, 07:40:44 AM
Out of his 285 total posts, 83 of it was deleted by moderators.

Really low quality. Improve his post after the unbanned.

If you want more answer follow this...
Q: Why was my account banned?
A: You probably have broken one of the rules. Try emailing a message to the specified appeal email shown in your ban message.
And what does the low quality of messages mean? How is the quality of messages determined? briefly already write your thoughts prohibited on this forum?))

It means exactly what it means. Your posts were deemed as unsubstantial by not only the reporter but a mod who acted on the report. How would you determine if something was good or bad? I'm sure you're capable of doing that, right? Well that's what mods do. If most of your posts are just generic one liners with not much thought gone into them then a lot of people would consider that spam.

Some things like:
  • "wow thanks!"
  • "Nice post!"
  • "To the moon!"

Those are examples of the most obvious/lazy ones, but most spam comments are the ones where they're smart enough to not make them, but instead force themselves to churn out a generic, lazy comment that has been said hundreds of times before in a spam thread. That's probably what this guy got stung with.

There's also some huge gaps in his post history that you can see on the first page alone:

July 07, 2015 to January 12, 2016 and then
February 27, 2016 to May 19, 2017 and then disappears again until May 09, 2019
1946  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: YoBit Signature Campaign (Bitcointalk) on: July 18, 2019, 08:13:47 AM
Help me please - in local threads it is possible to write? yesterday I made 14 posts, counted only 1.
13 made in local thread

So this campaign is actually paying? Something tells me if this campaign was fully operational the board would be littered with their signatures like it was last time. Most people seemed to be saying it wasn't paying and I've seen very few yobit sigs on the board. Have you actually tried to cash out? Maybe it's just counting posts but no payments are being made.
1947  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: July 17, 2019, 09:18:33 AM
^  I think Chelsea won't even finish top 6 at the end of this coming season.  IMHO.  And yes, I'm willing to back my big mouth with a small bet (vs somebody trusted).  Lolol.  Give me good odds tho.  Smiley

I don't think they'll do terrible but it's not easy getting into the top five these days, especially with City and Spurs becoming huge clubs in recent times and pushing the others further down the table. I'm kinda hoping Wolves get Costa and some other good players so maybe they can challenge for a top 5 position and shake things up a bit. I doubt Wolves will be able to afford Costa's wages though.

1948  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: July 11, 2019, 01:59:32 PM
I would be terribly surprised if Craig doesn't end up in jail.

He should end up there but as we know you can oftentimes buy yourself out of jail with monopoly money. He managed to wrangle himself out of a jail sentence the last time but I think he needs some time away to reflect on all the damage he's doing. Lying for your own ego is one thing but when you try throw other innocent people under the bus just to save yourself is where. I mean the guy will literally stand up and lie in court and lie by claiming people are  child pornographers if it would help his case.

Ira's lawyers have dissected Craig's forged e-mails: https://t.co/OX8jjvyCq9

He is so fucked....

I hope they have some more cards up their sleeve. CW needs to be exposed fully exposed for the fraud that he is.

If he loses he will be hailed as a hero and it will be blamed on a conspiracy against Satoshi and bitcoin.

If he doesn't lose it will be hailed as a clear victory over tyranny. (In my opinion it will also be a miracle)

Who is going to call him a hero? Most people don't like him other than BSV fanboys and most can see through his bullshit. His deception may fool those that don't look close enough but once it's pout under the magnifying glass his evidence is soon exposed for what it is.
1949  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Smishing and how not to fall for it on: July 09, 2019, 01:24:03 PM
Don't forget about catphishing as well. That's when some dude pretends to be a female to try get their victim to let their guard down and send them bitcoins (because obviously a woman would never scam anyone - they're far too nice for that). Seen it happen a fair few times here and there's probably much more that we don't see as people will be too embarrassed to come clean and then also all the attempted times - users like Alia etc: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3032057.0
1950  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Double Spent - experiment and failed - may be we have a clue on: July 07, 2019, 09:51:00 AM
I thought about giving some merits to replace the ones you lost but touching wet paint when you know it's wet is a pretty silly thing to do.

You can't replace it once it's gone, can you? - unless theymos reverse the merit manually. Meanwhile I do not need it too. Yes, it was silly but it's the curiosity lol. Glad I am not stupid enough to pull a trigger to see how it feels to die 🤪

By the way, I think we have a possible solution here to stop it. Not sure if this will get theymos's attention.

Only theymos can return the merit but I'm not sure if he will or not and I don't think it's worth the time pursing and you should just accept the loss of merits and move on in this case. However, it would be helpful if the bug was fixed so it doesn't happen again in the future so you can keep pushing for a change/fix if you wish but it certainly wouldn't be on my list of priorities (for either you or theymos).
1951  Other / Meta / Re: Plagiarism - No ban? on: July 07, 2019, 09:45:57 AM
There seems to be double criteria for plagiarism on this forum, some members get perma ban, others have luck that the plagiarized post is only deleted. Few days ago I report post from very well known forum spammer, where he forgot to add source link (to much copy-pasting), and instead ban his post is just deleted so he can continue with his business.

I doubt this is decision of some global mod as hilariousandco (maybe I am wrong), but I want to know why this member has a protected status on this forum?

Only a Global moderator could have possibly handled that report because there's no dedicated mod for the Press section and the user isn't a Newbie so that rules out patrollers, but I don't think forgetting to add the link in the Press section once is enough for a perma ban for plagiarism.

Whether that user is spamming or making unsubstantial posts or not is another debate. I would personally say a warning is in order seeing as the majority of his posts are seemingly in the Press section, but there's no rules against that and I have long been an advocate of locking/archiving that sub all together because it's served its purpose and is just abused like this now.

^ ^  I fear Lampard's status as an 'immortal' at the club will be affected in a really bad way if(when?) he fails.  It would've been best for him to avoid being a Chelsea manager at all.  He could wait for Abramovich to sell the club at least...

Or maybe the opposite if he does well and he will be immortalised if he does a brilliant job. The odds are stacked against him though and he's already a lot of the bookies favourite to be the first sacked and it wouldn't surprise me if that happened. He should have stuck with Derby for another season as he narrowly missed out on getting them promoted but if he could have got them up this season that would have been a huge success and speak volumes about him as a manager. I don't think he's ready for such a big club yet and there's a lot of pressure on Chelsea especially when there's at least three other teams that are far superior to them.

1953  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Double Spent - experiment and failed - may be we have a clue on: July 07, 2019, 09:16:54 AM
I knew there was an issue with sending merit in the send merit page (action=merit). Once you refresh, it spend the smerit again. I never experienced this so I was just curious to check it and was hoping may be theymos found a solution. So I refreshed the page and it showed this pop up of resending the data to the server. I clicked resend and it sent the same sMerit again. Broke my hurt knowing that it was not fixed, felt a bit angry too to lose 3 more smerits.

I think you've basically just done the digital equivalent of touching wet paint to see if it was wet even though there was a sign there saying do not touch - wet paint.

I thought about giving some merits to replace the ones you lost but touching wet paint when you know it's wet is a pretty silly thing to do.
1954  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAM: Bitcoin SV (BSV) - fake team member and plagiarized white paper on: July 07, 2019, 08:54:45 AM
Again, it would be great to know if Wright's statements had truth behind them or not:

Of course not, do you really need to ask?

CSW's whole shtick is to just lie constantly. He's so brazen about it that some people think, "there must be some truth there," but really it's 100% nonsense.

Can't you sue this huge tool? I'm sure we could easily get that crowd-funded for you. I know you're probably against that too but this guy really needs to face some repercussions for his continued lies. It's absurd that he tries to sue anyone who even claims he isn't satoshi yet he is ok lying and completely slandering people. He's basically just told a court that you're a drug trafficker and child pornographer. Based on what evidence? Pretty sure you would have no problems in successfully suing him for that. This guy actually deserves to be in jail and I hope this court goes after him for perjury.

While I am opposed to drug laws, I have never used illicit drugs, and in fact I also abstain from alcohol & nicotine.

What about weed? Because as we all know weed is a plant and not a drug  Grin.

Realistically speaking, what sort of trouble csw got himself into this time? The transcripts are hilarious.

I haven't read the full transcripts and haven't been paying much attention but perjury for a start (assuming theymos isn't actually one of the many DPR's  Grin). I'm really hoping the court actually goes after him for these lies. Asking for any sort of proof of half of what he's saying would be enough. He basically just keeps lying to get himself out of another lie and he's going to slip up  under pressure and contradict himself if he hasn't already.
1955  Other / Meta / Re: Why arent REPUTABLE signature campaign managers merit sources by default? on: July 05, 2019, 04:42:16 PM
As already stated campaign managers can apply like anyone else and I'm sure if they're respected amongst the community then they will get a lot of vouches or they will be made on eventually if they prove their worth here, but there are campaign managers who come out of nowhere and aren't necessarily trusted, so this is why they should be taken on a case by case basis so there's no possibility of abuse by giving access by default. I think theymos should probably delegate some of the responsibility of choosing merit sources by maybe granting some mods the power to allocate them so they can be made more frequently and without having to pester him about it. I don't know how often theymos looks into the applications but there seems to be a few cases lingering around in Meta that should probably be granted. There is a definite lack of merit sources and it's still fairly had for a fairly decent poster to get a significant amount of merit to move up the ranks fairly swiftly so this would help.
1956  Other / Meta / Re: What is off topic? And is it spam to say congratulations/thank you? on: July 03, 2019, 10:40:46 AM
Thanks to you both. So I understand a pattern is just saying congrats or thank you is low quality. But I have seen many people saying congrats or thank-you.

I have spent most of my time in politics and society and those posts tend to be rather long. If anybody checked my posts they could see it wasn't a pattern.

Please read the message fully that you are sent with a deleted post. The PM states that:

Quote
Posts are most frequently deleted because they are off-topic, though they can also be deleted for other reasons. In the future, please avoid posting things that need to be deleted.

One of the most common reasons for the post being removed may be off topic but there's a multitude of other reasons that they are removed like spam, low quality, necrobumps etc and a full list of possible reasons can be found in the forum rules: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.msg7955645#msg7955645

I started a signature campaign I have to go outside. It's all new and all interesting. And also I had lost some money in a mining venture so I was interested in seeing what they had. I did not post all day as now it seems too risky I certainly couldn't contribute anything technical but it doesn't seem fair to delete the one time I said congrats and what is the music you're using.

You don't have to 'go outside'. This is the whole issue with people posting under signature campaigns as they feel the need to post in boards where they have little to no knowledge of the given subject and forcing yourself to do so is just a recipe for disaster and hence why you likely had your post removed.
1957  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why do signature campaigns not count politics and society for posting? on: July 03, 2019, 09:23:00 AM
Why do signature campaigns not count posts in Politics and Society?

This is my first campaign and I am at a loss. I have spent hours and now days reading and its always  good information.  But trying to find a place to contribute something has been tough.  As a new member, I don't feel as though I am qualified to post anywhere else. And I already got one post deleted for saying congratulations and asking about the music in an add.

When you are at the very beginning it is even hard to know what to ask or how to contribute in any way

So am wondering why would there be no count on Politics and Society?  At least there I could contribute something.

Campaigns can choose to pay (or not pay) users in whatever boards they like. If they wanted to pay exclusively in off topic then they could, but historically a lot of campaigns stopped paying in boards like Off topic and Politics because of the amount of shit threads spammers were creating in there just to get paid because they were being abused by people who couldn't talk about much else. I think the Politics board has changed a lot over the years as you can have some decent discussion in there now and that's probably because it's mostly a sig spam free board all because most campaigns don't pay in there.

And more importantly, how do you contribute quality posts in areas you know nothing about?

You don't... or shouldn't and this is the huge issue here isn't it. You've come to a message board on a topic you have little to no knowledge about just to earn and that's why we have so much spam because people are trying to talk about things they don't understand.
1958  Other / Meta / Re: Incorrect post count on: July 01, 2019, 12:29:04 PM
Maybe he deleted a load of his posts and the forum hasn't recalculated them properly yet. He has ten merit so I'm guessing at one point he had at least ten posts as well. The account is probably hacked. It's registered on February 06, 2014 but hasn't made his first post until April 01, 2019 so maybe he deleted all the existing posts to try cover his tracks. Email was also reset recently: This user's email address was changed recently.
1959  Other / Meta / Re: Wall of fame / shame. Shit posts so bad that they are actually funny on: June 30, 2019, 12:48:05 PM
Another shitpost which also lends evidence to my previous assertion:

Real fear when you see your brother get murdered right next to you, when your face to face with a lion, don't talk to me about fear.

Lions are extremely rare in Nigeria and only live in a single protected reserve area, far from local populations. Though 2 people were killed by a lion in 2012, they are highly unlikely to be the brother of our OP.

Also, OP has a Local Time of Iceland (seems to be the most popular local time on the forum and I suspect it means they are using a VPN), whereas Nigeria is one time zone east of there.

This post is perhaps his most offensive:

My village has switched over to only using bitcoin cash and now we added SV.  We can't afford to be paying dollars per transactions, its too much money for us and the lightning network isn't safe and is just putting a bandaid on a big wound when we can have real scaling.

I don't know whether to laugh or to vomit.

He is a troll and he obviously just posts things to try rile people up and get a reaction. He also probably belongs to a lot of other troll accounts which I've brought up the connection before:

Teamsters Internet SEctor, Big Boobies talkinDoubleD and Nigerian CocoPalm Farmer are probably the same user.

People need to stop feeding trolls. Maybe any Newbie account spouting the same old nonsense should just be given the silent treatment. I'm sure we could get the merit mafia regulars to agree to it but there's too many sig spamming shitposters who are more than happy to chime in for it to be truly effective. Shadowbanning works wonders for trolls though. When their bait doesn't catch they soon realise they're wasting their time.

I would like video proof that I am an alt of someone as moronbozo claims in required.
Come now, if you're going to pretend not to be an alt of someone, the least you could do is invent new insults:

This latest thread though is brilliant, you get to spam your sig at my expense, whilst accusing me of spamming not a sig but rather I am spamming words. That is excellent moronbozo.

I laughed out loud at moronbozo. Was cryptohunter actually banned? He's not currently so must have been given a short one if so.

In fact, I think there's also a strong possibility that they're just a handful of crytohunters alts:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2581415 Teamsters Internet SEctor April 13, 2019
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2579977 Big Boobies talkinDoubleD April 11, 2019

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2580400 The-One-Above-All April 11, 2019

They all popped up around the same time complaining about the same things and there's a couple more coincidences with them as well.

Dig Bicks is probably another troll account of his as well and surprise surprise:

I'll leave this here, lol

Woman only good for fucking and sucking, they just a toy.  They don't have any actual intelligence like men do.

Seems I'm not the only one to notice it too:

Dont worry Bob hes not for real. Just a semi-creative alt from an ex sig campaigner.

But the fucking off part is apt advice.
He's obviously dig bicks, just another troll account that likes to come and play.

I am a music therapist and have found it to be the most healing technique you can provide for people of all ages.
I would like to start a foundation for music therapy for the following

1. All school age children
2. Kids and adults of all ages with special needs
3. Adults with varying conditions, emotionally, or physically

Who would have thought that trying to donate money to a good cause would be met with so much suspicion and hostility?

If you are a fraud it would be quickly comprehended when you start asking for money..to temporarily cover your own money, currently unavailable. 😄

But I thank you for reaching out and your efforts to be generous.

Contact me please.

I don't think this user is trying to scam, but he is very likely trolling and has no intention of sending his money anywhere. Also, would you send me money if I asked for it under the guise of helping a charity? You shouldn't unless I provide pretty good proof that the money will get to where I say it will and even then I'd still be suspicious. Dozens of users/scammers come here just to try collect money for charity when in most instances it will go straight into their pocket. We actually get waves of these spammers every time a natural disaster happens and they're just trying to prey on users goodwill and take advantage of human misery/tragedy to enrich themselves and it doesn't get much lower than that. We also have no reason to believe any money sent to you will go anywhere other than yourself and that's why we shouldn't just trust random people on the internet because this board is rife with unscrupulous characters who literally would steal from charity if they could.
