Stop fucking for 10 or 20 years. Population will reduce to manageable levels.

Other option warp drive build it and find some empty planets.

Last option terraform mars.

We all know number one is not happening.
Number two will not happen unless we are visited by aliens and they lay all the cards on the table.
Number three will happen but most likely only save a small percent of people when a crash happens here on earth

Looks like seller has a few hot paypal accounts.  Be careful

I just spent ten minutes on eBay.

No one is selling a 1080ti as buy it now under 550 with shipping.

And this guy is willing to sell at 400.

As I said be careful
19444  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: July 25, 2018, 06:06:26 PM
Yea, destroys the the b3. 33th is nice but over 3300w. This is more in line what we're talking about efficiency wise in one of the other speculation threads.

this m10 is the most efficient miner ever built. (claimed not proven yet)

I am truly looking forward  to giving it a good testing and demo.

If it is under 0.070 a gh  and does at least 30th it would still be the best miner ever built.

I also hope that they   create a lower speed optional firmware.

They made firmware for the M3x  to save power see below

https://pangolinminer.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007140454-Low-power-Firmware-for-M3X-release

An option like this for the new miner would be good for some of us.

The ability to lower power to 1800 watts on low speed and say 27.3th
vs 2145 watts  on high speed and say 33th  would really make this gear a winner

This was confirmed more quick than I thought.

Me and Philip will do a review for the WhatsMiner M10.
Philip will do videos like he mentioned and I will do a review document as usual.

Interesting read:

Bank Of Canada: PROOF-OF-WORK BEATS ALTERNATIVE CONSENSUS SYSTEMS

https://bitcoinist.com/bank-canada-proof-work-security/

Yep

BTC and LTC  are asic secured  and need serious money  to  own enough  to 51%  mine it.
This has always been my argument against pos.

MY twist on gpu mined coins  is the need  3 ready_made forks to be secure against a 51%  attack
they also need  their own algo and all 3 forks  waiting.

right now  we have 43,432,079,575 gh   for sha 256  based BTC maybe  really  50,000,000,000 gh

and we can divide by 14,000   or 3,571,428  s9's   that is secure    and hard to overcome
may cost 1,785,714,285  and 215,000,000 or 2,000,000,000  in gear to attempt  to attack BTC with a 51%

LTC is 305,534 gh or 610,000   L3+  at 300 each 183,000,000  add 17,000,000 total 200,000,000  to attack at 51%

so both LTC and BTC  are protected  by  $$$ in gear

BTC  more then 2 billion is needed to attack with 51%  also  the net worth of the coin is 143 billion

LTC more then  200 million is needed to attack with 51% the net worth is 5 billion

on the  new pangolin  I may will  get a demo  to do  some you tube videos

19447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: July 25, 2018, 04:04:10 PM
I've made an order through the form on https://store.mineority.io/ for a few of ACORN CLE mining hardware accelerators on 19th July, 2018.
Payed with ETH. Payment Status was marked as Complete, got a confirmation email.
And since then I haven't recieved any info message or feedback from the seller on my order, if it's being processed or not. I tried to contact them through email on their website, and all I had back is auto message saying that my "request N316 has been recieved and is being reviewed by their team". So it's been 6 days since, and no reply.
If anyone had same issues with them and knows if there's any other way to contact those guys plz let me know, that would help a lot.
Thx.

So you  have no confirmation email from mineority.io?

for now I have been buying s9i's at under 550 from bitmain  and sitting on them

pangolin  is now touting a 33th 2150 watt  machine  that is under 0.066 watts a gh  the best claimed by anyone.

I would have preferred it to be 20 th  and do 1320 watts.

But here is a link

1999 for it  due sept 20th

Hmm they use 16nm finfet, not 7 or 10nm, yet achieved efficiency exceeding GMO or INNO's 7/10nm miner. Are they legit?

the m3 was real

I purchased  a total of two 215+  and 1 x2g nest at about 780-790 usd.

I partially did spend that because of ohgoditisagirl   and the eth hardener pill.    I have 8 1080ti's doing  50 each   vs  33 each  a gain of 136 mh and 0 watts

if I had purchased 4 more 1080ti's and each did 33  with no pill  that would be 132mh  and 800 more watts.

So her free software is worth more then 4 x 700 = 2800 not counting I save 10 kwatt a day in power

So it is only morally correct for me to spend some of the savings  on her  store  ie one 215+

and some on her "friend"  ie squirrelsresearch store.

But  I spent 790  not 2800 or 1400   mostly because  of the way the thread was run.

The store sales were done weird  and I have yet to see one working in the field.

...
A 25 kVA transformer can only do about 105A (and peak loads up to about 140A or so @ 240V).  Around my parts most homes with 200A service have a 15 kVA transformer, and large homes have a 25 kVA transformer.  Really large residential homes have a 50 kVA transformer.  A large 50 kVA is still only able to deliver 210A or so on a 24/7 basis.  And once you get much past that, the 350 MCM Al wire running between the transformer and your meter base begins to become the limiting factor.

Technically correct, but transformer power ratings are more of a moving target rather than a fixed number because as long as the core is sized properly for the voltage swing and frequency the power throughput is entirely dependent on the temperature rise of the windings. Taken to the extreme, that means a nearly infinite amount of power can flow through a transformer if the windings are superconductors. I know it sounds crazy, and using superconductors for windings isn't exactly practical, but it's true.

Even with humble copper windings most utility distribution transformers are immersed in oil for cooling so they can take a high degree of overload for surprisingly long periods of time, particularly if the ambient temperature is well below 25-35C. Hell, one cheap way that utility companies can instantly increase a transformer's power rating is to slap some fans on it; good for at least a 25% bump in continuous load rating, as long as the higher voltage drop is permissible.

When I started consuming above 20,000 watts 24/7, I had the power company come out and swap my 25 kVA for a 50 kVA one.  There was no cost to me.  Where I live in rural Virginia, nothing needs to be filed or justified with the county, it is all just between me and the POCO.  I just called them up one day, and 20 minutes later an engineer was at my door step and I showed my power usage and he said yep, let's swap in a 50 kVA for you.

The willingness of the utility company to upgrade your distribution transformer very much depends on the particular company and municipality (and, of course, how much average power you have drawn or are projected to draw). In my neck of the woods you practically have to set the pig on fire before the utility will replace it for free, and while they will gladly upgrade it if you pay them to do so, that can take weeks for the paperwork or whatever to work its way through the various bureaucracies.

this is pretty much to case with  us.
19455  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What has happened to bitmain having the most efficient gear? on: July 25, 2018, 01:01:31 PM
Inno gear is, and always will be terribly priced. Idk why that is and I quit trying to buy from them due to endless fustrations. Now as for Bitmain, I agree with the sentiment of everyone on here. They probably have better gear but they're not releasing them yet. They were hit pretty terribly with the whole Bcash fiasco. Regardless I'm not convinced that the near monopoly gear maker is now suddenly behind everyone else!

yeah  its why I did the thread.

btw the  s9 at 564 + 80 to ship = 644 - 100 coupon = 544    btc at 8200  makes it  0.06634 btc  pretty  low price
19456  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: July 25, 2018, 03:43:54 AM
I'd be leery on a presale. Just look at the M3 that went from almost $2k to under $300 from price wars and market fluctuation. Was a nice pump and dump. Glad I sold all mine shortly after receiving. They used more power than advertised too. Bitmain or Canaan has to be releasing something more efficient to start new price war for GMO and this. Someone will most likely be shipping something better/cheaper before these and GMO even start shipping.

The s9i is 544 with a 100 dollar coupon. 4 days out

The m10 is 2200 with shipping 70 days out

Tough call to spend 2200 on a preorder
19457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: July 25, 2018, 12:02:29 AM
actually houses in my area are so big, with hot tubs electric cars requiring 50kw fast chargers etc its not hard to find a house sized with 400amps, throw in a detached garage you can easily get permit for another 300 watt for a garage shop.

Its false that they make you pay for the transformer all they need is a city permit and they put up the pole if needed.

power is not an issues.  the issue is residential rates are bad for mining.  Im my shop i have businesses rates , slowly moving my rigs there.  I pay .04 plus deman rate in the garage.  In my residence i pay 12 to 15. cents in summer no less than .11 in winter

Well, just because the main breaker says 400A doesn't mean you can actually draw 400A for more than a few seconds. Firstly, the NEC limits maximum continuous use of any circuit to 80% of the wiring or breaker rating, whatever is less (usually the breaker). Secondly, the distribution transformer (usually affectionately referred to as a "pig" if mounted on a utility pole) will likely be rated for 10kVA to 50kVA if pole-mounted, and 50kVA to 200kVA if pad-mounted, and each transformer will likely serve 1 - 6 houses so you really don't have nearly as much power available as you might think.

Our esteemed OP can probably provide a bit more detail on this seeing as he has had major electrical service work done, along with solar tie-ins, etc.

well  so many variables here.

and  the internet makes it hard to write precisely .

As it gets boring to read a long reply.

marvell  is saying in his area he can get 400 + 300 = 700 amps which for a home owner is a lot of power.

700 x .8 = 560 at 240 volts = 134.4   24/7/365 draw  thats a lot for a homeowner.

you can run 100 avalon 841's
or 100 6x1080ti rigs

and that is a lot for a home.

Marvell is also saying most home owners  pay quite a bit more then 4 cents a kwatt.

my garage cost is 18 cents in the summer and 10 cents in the winter.

my home was never setup to run  over 12 kwatts in the winter

and runs under 3 watts in the summer

my home is a 150 amp 220 single phase setup.

The solar array has 400 amps 240 volts
It runs buy solars house his office and the mining gear.

and it never can  go past 75 kwatts  for charging back as the power company restricted sell back to 75 kwatts per daylight hour

the array on a perfect sunny day in July  could charge back 105 kwatts so power is wasted.  this is due to transformer limits .

Buysolar paid an extra 10000 for the transformer and some power company wire upgrades.

Even though buysolar could  make his field more powerful the power company won't handle it.

Lets leave it at this:

tight margins favor:

cheap plentiful power.

So a 2 megawatt solar flield  can do 400kwatts for free  that would be 300 s9is

if you have an empty 2 megawatt field ready to go on ling  you could buy 350 s9i's

and make money for quite a while.  so anyone with cheap power in abundance is buying those s9is

buy extra for spare parts.

my example above  in nj  would be 2million to setup  and the gear would be about 220,000 more

so 2,220,000  run 300 s9s  keep the rest as parts.

in 3 years  it is still earning 10k a month

you got back 1,000,000 of the 2,220,000 million

and about 400,000 in tax credits you owe about 820,000 on a 2,220,000 investment

and remember 2,000,000 of that is solar which has a 25 year life span

this is killing the garage miner cause people with money see this a way to pay for solar.
19458  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What has happened to bitmain having the most efficient gear? on: July 24, 2018, 09:08:10 PM
I am not sure about a bitmain  decred miner

I was going to say "it doesn't exist" but perhaps "they don't sell one yet" would be more accurate.

and Innosilicon does not have an Eth miner  or a B3 miner

Bitmain ETH miner (E3) is less efficient even than some GPUs, e.g. 1050Ti, so Innosilicon could probably beat it if they wanted to.

Unfortunately Innosilicon as business sucks so badly that these efficiency gains don't really matter much. I know you said it's not about the price and all the other things but Bitmain the horrible pigopolist does those things better and they likely don't feel they need to compete for every watt. The difference isn't that big between the T2 and the S9(i), which I think is their main revenue source.

and the t2 turbo  now does 18.1th at 1350 watts
the s9i does 14th at 1400 watts

and a new miner from pangolinminer due in sept 2018 the m10 will be doing 33th at 2150 watts

https://pangolinminer.com/

2150/33000 = 0.0651 watts per gh  the clear cut leader

I know I can order 2 s9i's today for 1120 use my last 2 100 dollar coupons and pay only 920  for 28000 gh

but with gear that is doing 0.066 vs 0.099  I have to pause and think what is best here.

I owned a pangolin M3 it was okay  and was shipped quickly to me.

loud and hot but many miners are just that.
19459  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Attic Exhausting on: July 24, 2018, 08:21:29 PM
Is the 2350 cfm a calculation factoring the length of the ducting? The one on the quick price out is 2.8k cfm. So I should move to 3k+ for sure from you recommendation?

Reason for one hole is this is our garage, need to keep it aesthetically in tack more so than what I would once I get to the point of moving to find cheaper power.

the image was not very  clear I thought it read 2350cfm.

but as to hole size and length of tubing.

the longer the tube = more friction
the smaller the diameter = more friction

so a 1600cfm fan with 1 foot tube length  to move  the air

and at the same 1 foot diameter moves  air a lot better then

a 2800 cfm fan with a 10 inch tube and a six foot length .

when I read your chart I saw a reducer in it 12 to 10 inches
I saw a tube six feet long
I read a 2350 cfm fan

and I thought it may not work

if the tubing is 1 foot with no reducer
the fan is 2800cfm
and the tube length is six feet I think you will be close to okay
19460  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pangolin Whatsminer M10 - 33TH at 2145W on: July 24, 2018, 03:22:33 PM
so they do 2145/33000 = 0.065 per gh?

and are really by far the best most efficient miner ever made?

So if you purchased the GMO miner  at .082 per gh you got crushed by this miner.

The M10 is like a freaking beast

btw bitmain has dropped the s9i down under 600 to 564

https://pangolinminer.com/

M10 rules  if this is true.
