I've put 0.05 mbtc on Newcastle (Knights) winning the Grand final at 66:1

I put money on both the Storm and Panthers winning the Series at the start of the season (along with the Eels and Bulldogs).  Can't recall what the odds were, but it'd be nice if the Knights were to get up.
1962  Economy / Gambling / Re: Where can I sell my crypto gambling account? on: September 10, 2021, 12:22:58 AM
Selling accounts if fraught with danger insofar as we have no way of verifying the account ever belonged to you (i.e. the account may well have been hacked).

Or, if you had verified and can prove you are who you say you are, that opens up another can of worms when you decide to reclaim your account on the pretext it was hacked.
1963  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT1 and DT2 members who have negative feedback (or are banned) on: September 09, 2021, 03:07:48 AM
Yes.

The most trusted score that I was referring to is the most trusted score as calculated by the bpip.org scoring system (I don't know of any other systems calculating Forum trust scores).
1964  Economy / Economics / Re: Tulip Mania 2.0 on: September 09, 2021, 02:10:47 AM
How does that fit in with (for example) Pokemon trading cards or similar?  I'm the first to admit I also missed the NFT boat when it sailed.  Is it a digital fingerprint or signature of the image that's embedded in the blockchain?
1965  Economy / Reputation / Re: DT1 and DT2 members who have negative feedback (or are banned) on: September 08, 2021, 10:58:02 PM
Shouldn't johnnyUA and be.open appear on your list for this week?

They both are being trusted by this user and showing as DT1 at the moment.
1966  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: September 08, 2021, 08:33:14 PM
Actually, that's good news for the people in Queensland. But also the outbreak of the COVID-19 in Sydney kind of saddens me. But whatsoever, it will be nice to see the finals hosted in Queensland. The people over there should be pretty excited as it was to be hosted in Sydney but the venue has been shifted to their place. Hoping for a great and entertaining final.

Aside for the issue surrounding all of the teams being based here in South East Queensland (and I'm hearing they may well have to stay here instead of returning to Covid New South Wales) is that for as long as the Brisbane Broncos (and subsequent non NSW teams) have been in the competition, there has been an outcry for the Grand Final to be played wherever the team who won it the year prior.

i.e. Brisbane wins one year, then Brisbane hosts the grand-final the following year.
1967  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 08, 2021, 08:18:05 AM
Next match (Fernandez, Annie) vs (Sabalenka, Aryna) placing my bet for Fernandez with 4.50 odds, don't know what is going to happen, but Fernandez is going to beat Sabalenka I'm sure.

I'm in the opposite camp. I feel Aryna Sabalenka has the energy and enthusiasm to take her to the finals.

If I recall correctly, she paired with Ash Barty in a Women's doubles (before Wimbledon) taking out that particular competition.

2021: World No. 1 in doubles & Australian Open doubles title; World No. 2 in singles & first Grand Slam singles semifinals

Under the NRL Finals System we have the following four weeks of game play:

Week_one_sees_the_Qualifying/Elimination finals:

  • Storm (assume win)
  • Eagles

  • Roosters (assume win)
  • Titans

  • Panthers (assume win)
  • Rabbitohs

  • Eels
  • Knights (assume win)

Week 2

  • Eagles (assume win)
  • Roosters

  • Panthers (assume win)
  • Eels

Week 3

  • Storm(assume win)
  • Panthers

  • Eagles
  • Knights (assume win)

Week 4 GF

  • Storm
  • Knights

In the above scenario, I'm going to call the Storm over the Knights in the Grand Final.  The Knights making it to the Grand Final is dependent on them winning their game this week.

History will be made when Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium hosts the NRL grand final on Sunday, October 3.

For the first time, the premiership decider will be held outside of Sydney with the NRL announcing this year's match would be played in the Queensland capital due to the COVID-19 outbreak in NSW.

1970  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Collection Thread] Series and films in which Bitcoin (or Altcoins) appear on: September 08, 2021, 12:03:16 AM
I just rewatched the 2017 movie Molly's Game based on the life of Molly Bloom last night (I think it's supposed to be set in 2014)... There's absolutely no mention of any crypto currencies, just poker players and mobsters carrying around backpacks full of cash.

The movie is probably one of the last of its kind where Bitcoin is NOT mentioned as a plot device.

Check it out - it's a very good movie.
1971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: September 07, 2021, 09:35:13 PM
Yeh I agree the Knights are the ones to watch. But in saying that, the Eels have been on a downward trajectory for weeks. The Eels have only managed to stay in the top eight due to their wins in the early part of the season.
1972  Economy / Lending / Re: Need Loan With Collateral on: September 07, 2021, 08:34:56 AM
I have a serious medical emergency and I need a medical loan of $1200 to settle the bill Angry. My collateral involves antique coins of  "Very Rare 1971 2p New Pence Coin" and "Rare 1982 Twenty Pence" . Let me know if there's anyone willing to work something out with me. Il appreciate. If you need images let me know.

Thank you!

The 1971 2pence in PROOF is worth £3 (Coin Yearbook 2019 pp 283) while your 1982 20p (assuming it is the silver proof piedford (i.e. double thickness) variety) is worth £25 (Coin Yearbook 2019 pp 277)

Here are the PCGS population reports for both:

Are the coins graded by NGC or PCGS? If not, probably worthless. Those coins are common as dirt and only a few rare error varieties have any value. Can you post high resolution photos and indicate which error type?

Assuming they are genuine and graded, virtually any coin dealer will give you a cash advance against them. Check out any reputable local coin shop.

What assumptions are you making that yours are much better than the ones on offer that have been graded?

Why are you asking for $1200, not £1000 ??

The two eBay coins being touted in the examples are being sold by two different traders.
1973  Economy / Economics / Re: Tulip Mania 2.0 on: September 07, 2021, 08:25:04 AM
For BTC being tulip 2.0, at this point even discussing it is just silly, it's not and cannot be just by it's nature at this point. Too spread out, and too many people using it.
Tulips, for all the mania back in the day were way more localized.

As Rockefeller is reputed to have said after the Great Depression had come and gone how he'd managed to foresee the impending crash and sold everything making a profit enabling his empire to continue, he is reputed to have replied:

"When the person who shines your shoes starts giving you stock-market advice, THAT'S the time to sell."

I haven't had shiny shoes for a while, so I don't envisage a crash coming anytime soon.
1974  Economy / Economics / Re: Bullish or nuts? Fidelity predicts $100M bitcoin in 2035 on: September 07, 2021, 08:13:17 AM
Bitcoin has existed for 11 years, we have seen the value of Bitcoin increase up to millions of times the value of the first transaction. Is there still 14 years left for Bitcoin to hit $100 million? Although the number of $ 100 million is too large, it is not without happening, especially with high inflation, excessive money printing from the Fed and Bitcoin's halving model.

It's the age old adage of cryptocurrencies:  (especially bitcoin in particular) 21 million bitcoins Versus 7 thousand-million (short form: seven billion) inhabitants of this great big blue and green planet.

I think the last time I worked it out it was something like 0.0005 BTC for each and every person living.  (My advice is make a paper wallet with that amount and save it for your retirement)   Grin Cheesy
1975  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATM in a gas station on: September 07, 2021, 08:09:16 AM
A new Bitcoin ATM was installed in my neighborhood last week and a lot of people are complaining about the security requirement because to use the ATM you will need a passport for some form of KYC.

That's the exact argument coin mixers use to justify their services.  Privacy.

If you buy bitcoin from an ATM that knows *you* have a wallet address 3soMeRanDom1oRoTHerXXXXXetc (according to the blurbs at least) "THEY" can track where and what you spend your funds on.

BTC ATM's in gas-stations may not be for everyone.
1976  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: September 07, 2021, 08:05:17 AM
Oh gosh Timelord.. you really believe that we are in some kind of a meaningful and significant trend that lacks upward support?

Sure we had more than a 70% price increase from the local bottom of $28,600 to $50,562, so getting some pausing or even an 8% pullback down to $46,309 in the past 36 hours should not be considered anything to write home to mom about.  In other words, your thoughts of downity seem a bit over prognosticated, but hey.., you do you in terms of your BTC price expectations.

To be honest, I can't recall why I was writing that the price was going down - I know I wrote three or four items over that week about the lack-luster price as Bitcoin had stagnated somewhat.  However, the price has been on the up and up with the price again trending upwards.  No doubt someone in a few weeks time will ask why I wrote that.

If anything, it seems as though news of MicroStrategy's bulk buy has lifted people's confidence in BTC (much like the car salesman's push a few weeks back) and we're being moved out to the launch pad for liftoff any day now.
1977  Other / Meta / Re: Giving merit to people when you don't agree with them on: September 07, 2021, 02:06:54 AM
Most of the merit fonts are gang members who long ago closed ranks and collectively agreed who to give or withold merits to.

If one gang member finds a reason to disagree with you (perceived or imaginary disagreements) you will notice some, then all gang member's merit sources will withhold merits.

Once you're ignored by them, you won't receive any further merits.  If you were to press one such gang member, they would either say they didn't see your post, or that it didn't warrent a merit.

The merit system is flawed due to its centralisation.
1978  Economy / Reputation / Re: Alts Accounts Connected on: September 06, 2021, 08:56:29 AM
The fact the OP has used the submission form from the first post of the Known Alts thread tells me they are well aware of the fact such a thread exists.  They were probably hoping for some merits for such a minor find.

There's been a handful of such threads started recently by brand new users...

Seriously though.  Don't you think this thread should be put in OFF TOPIC where it belongs?  (Might get a few more responses there at any rate)

But the all-time record is held by this guy.

I think most if not all would agree that person is just a nutter trying to game the system in much the same way Peloso was.  Any idea how far down the list Peloso is?  I don't think they've been online for a while, but IIRC their list was moderately long...
