The Australians are short of one bowler and in case any of the New Zealand batsmen manage a big score, then it is going to be very tough for them. It looks to me that Lyon will bowl most of the overs from one end, with the captain asking Starc and Cummins to bowl from the other end. But this may not be as effective as both Starc and Cummins bowling in tandem.
All New Zealand has to do is to make sure that they don't lose any wickets. If they could manage 1-2 sessions without major damage, then the Australian bowlers will get tired and will be replaced with part-time bowlers such as Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. The Kiwis can use this opportunity to step up their scoring rate. The immediate target should be to survive the initial 10-12 overs from Starc/Cummins.
Day 4 and 5 will not be easy to bat as day 1 so batsmen struggle more than you imagine so its not possible for any OZ player to manage a high score and also lyon will be effective though since it is day four so we may see lot of spin and also wickets from him.

And I don't think that the Kiwis will go in to attack mode with such a huge target on board. They will be defensive from the first ball onward.
They have no other options other than attacking the balls if Australia make some quick runs before the lunch and retire their innings because it will be hard for OZ players to defend more than 1000 balls to get drawn as result. |

The point here is that New Zealand will not chase anything beyond 300 runs as the pitch will not be that easy to bat on, you can see how the Australian players struggled in the second innings as the New Zealand bowlers were peppering them with short balls and it was not that easy to bat on and in that case how can we expect them to chase a total like that and they have a good spinner in Lyon to contain one end.
Not just Lyon, but Marnus Labuschagne is also there as the spin option. During the first innings of New Zealand, he had taken the crucial wicket of Mitchell Santner. But that said, with both Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins bowling in peak form, I don't think that the spinners may get much opportunities to bowl their spells. If everything goes as per the plan, then Starc will finish with another 5 wicket haul and New Zealand will lose the match by a considerable margin. Forcing pacers to bowl more overs will affect their health,many bowlers agreed that most hardest part of test match is for pacers so they should have to rotate their spells with spinners as well to keep them effective. I am now confused why the Australian captain is not declaring the innings, when Warner was batting at 300 plus he declared the innings even with plenty of time left and now the Australia is leading over 400 runs and still they are not planning to declare the innings and they have a bowler short and they need to bowl 30 plus overs and try to pick the maximum wickets and the bowlers will get a good rest and then they will finish off the match the next day, but they are still playing with 6 wickets down  . But NZ are now trail by 417 and still 4 wickets of OZ is left and this means very high chance the match is already in OZ favour . LOL... You don't know how much Sri Lankans are proud of Muttiah Muralitharan. He was the legend who put Sri Lanka on the cricketing map. The greatest player Sri Lanka ever produced. If you talk against Muralitharan in Sri Lanka, then for sure you will not come out in good shape. When Ross Emerson and Darell Hair noballed him for chucking in 1995, the entire country came out in his support.
And after all this, if you say that Murali is an Indian, and not Sri Lankan, then the only advice I'd give to you is to stay away from any Sri Lankan citizen (for your own safety). Anyone still interested in the two ongoing test matches? The first one was washed out (Pakistan vs Sri Lanka). With two days remaining, I am 100% sure that it will end up in a draw. The other test match (NZ vs Australia) is turning out to be an one sided affair with New Zealand trailing by 307 runs with just 5 wickets remaining. Mitchell Starc broke the backbone of New Zealand batting lineup. And this same Mitchell Starc was dropped by stupid Australian selectors during the Ashes series.
For the first match: I am also believing that it will be end in a draw because its day 3 stumps but still they have to play 3 and half innings to get a result for this match which is highly impossible. Where as the second match,anything can happen in the remaining three days but as far as now AUS looks strong. |

LOL, a test match cannot be turned into a T20 format for the audience. Looking at the weather for next two days, it seems no match would be possible.  I know that it is not possible to play during a Test match, it was a suggestion from me, when two days are lost and it is sure that we will not be able to see a result then there is no point in playing the match further and they need to play a T20 match to entertain the crowd as they have spent money for the ticket and the shorter format is improvised and we can do that if there is no rain in the next two days. Not really,anything can change in no time so both team have to play their test innings which also can entertain the audience because they came here to watch test test match not T20,so they have to keep playing until end of the day 5 no matter whatever the result will be. I still remember lot of test match which has only result to be drawn but both team were playing naturally as any other matches. |

Look at the current state of the South African team. Two decades back, they used to be the no.1 ODI side. Now they can't even give a good fight against the top teams.
I am missing those old South African team which is considered to the level of Australia even if they didn't won the world cup trophy due to their players ability but currently they failed to create/find new talent which makes then to suffer a lot but the great thing is they were looking talents in their country so even if they won a trophy they can proudly say we won but other teams you mentioned may not have that much of feeling. Cricket is becoming a business more than a game... South Africa was a very strong team in the past, but they lost thier way due to the quota system which forces their team to comprise of 6 black players. Now coming to England, they have relied heavily on foreign talent for the last 2-3 decades to stay on top. Can you imagine an English team without players such as Ben Stokes, Eoin Morgan and Jofra Archer? IMO, it is good that players such as Morgan and Archer are getting fat salaries by playing for England. But the question is why the other cricket boards should suffer as a result. What a time this player is having as making third consecutive century is a achievement and truly having best of the time in batting it’s seems . Though Oz have lost 3 wickets but scored 220 runs and averaged wins quite slow which is little lower than 3 per over .
Even though Labuschagne crossed his century you cannot call it a day dominated by the Aussies as they were able to pick wickets when ever it mattered and the morning session is important to determine how long they will bat. @7788bitcoin If Aus don't get bowled out then i don't think they should bat entire day tomorrow, at least give kiwis 20-25 overs to bat under the lights.
A couple of wickets and the Australian tail is exposed, so New Zealand will be trying their best to restrict them to a low total and it all depends on how the Australians will approach the game, they will be trying to score some quick runs if they loose the wicket of Labuschagne. For now the match is totally a balanced as OZ should be able to reach minimum 350 runs even if they wickets keep falling in regular intervals . Also OZ did not even scored 3 runs per over average. Clarke really played very slow. I feel that AUS will aim for huge first innings score because they got settled proper batsmen at the crease,new day will be a challenge but if they can control nerves for the first 10 overs or something then they will day 2 also which could possible result in 400+ runs.OZ have good team as well especially kane williamson but if they lost early wickets then match will be on the hand of Aussies. |

For example, some one who is playing for Ireland can represent England if he gets selected to the team tomorrow. But the reverse is not true. If Ireland want to select someone who has played for England, then there is a 4-year cooling period. This rule was created in order to make sure that talented players don't drop out of teams such as England and play for smaller countries. Who in their right mind would wait for 4 years? By that time, their career will be over. But it is very discriminatory towards the smaller countries. This 4-year cooling period should be applicable for smaller countries as well. The cooling period should be towards England not for Ireland if that such exist then only the country cannot recruit the players until the next cooling period.So England cannot select any players from another country for the next four players so we can stop talent selling. |

Pollard's wicket was the turning point of the match as there was still a chance when he was hitting those massive sixes, good thing is that even after seeing 240 target, West Indies didn't hesitate to attack from the 1st over. India was the better team today and won the series.

This is going to be a high scoring match as the stadium is not that big so players can hit six easily and those who get set can make a good score on this pitch. Again, it does not seem to be a bowlers paradise and will be taking a toll today as well.
