19661  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solution to mining centralization; Reward bottom 50% mining power with altcoin on: July 05, 2018, 09:29:36 PM
I would like to know your views on this solution.

Solution to bitcoin mining centralization; Reward bottom half of mining power with an altcoin. only bitcoin miners mint / receive this new altcoin. They use same coinbase address as in Bitcoin main chain.

Top 50% bitcoin miners (who found half of blocks for the day/month, etc.), won't get anything. Other 50% gets as much altcoin as bitcoin they mine on Bitcoin mainnet. There should be effectively 10.5M of this altcoin. This altcoin will have non-zero value in open market. This altcoin should subsidize and force hash power to distribute well.

Thanks.

kind of what bitcoincash is. so I think not.

the real issue is asic builders are building and selling gear like mad and lower power cost miners keep buying it.  this causes slippage in coin price.  which for an asic builder only taking btc means he gets more coin

i.e. 6600 usd  btc  was once 20000 usd.

so 10 s9's at 660  mean 1 btc for bitmain
and 10 s9's at 2000 usd meant 1 btc for bitmain when coin was higher.

so to bitmain  in both cases they get 1btc.   they have zero incentive to stop selling in terms of earning btc with way they earn 1 btc.

down the road they will sell new gear more efficient and stop supply of gear hoping that all those cheap coins they got in april may june july of 2018 rise back to 10000 or more.

so as long as bitmian and innosilcion flood the market with cheap gear. btc price will stay low.

my 2 cents for what it is worth.

@ r0mi  looks like another coin to avoid.

on the nicehash front  the newest update now mines rvn

https://www.nicehash.com/marketplace/x16r

my

1080tis do about $1.40 on x16r
1080tis do about $1.70 on eth and the pill
1080tis do about $1.00 on zec
1080tis do about $0.82 on Lyra2REv2

this is 4 1080tis and 1 1050ti and 1 ryzen 1800x

https://www.nicehash.com/miner/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

earnings are 9-11 a day

power = 1100 watts at 18 cents

that is 27 kwatts or  4.86

round to   11-5 = 6 bucks profit each day

I have yet to get ebwf new software setup for btg  it should earn more

bis is  also doing so so  about 1-2 per 1080ti before power
19663  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What's you opinion on graphic cards becoming obsolete in mining altcoins in 2019 on: July 05, 2018, 05:11:51 PM
As the BTCBTCBTC market recovers over the next few months to a year GPU mining will become more profitable. And coins like Monero will continue to fork to avoid ASICs. I don't think GPU mining will be obsolete, not for a long time. I'm doing a little of both as a hobby. Good luck  Smiley

Even if BTC market recovers and hits a new ATH, most likely the profits that we got last June 2017 we will never see again.

The days of $5/day per RX 570 and $10/day per 1080Ti are most likely never going to return.

Basically too many GPUs are out in the world and too many people mining.

Another issue are the ASICs where coins like ZEC are not longer GPU mineable.

There is also the issue of the largest mineable coin ETH going finally POS something within the next year. When it goes POS or even Hybrid POS the miner reward will be greatly reduced and profitability will tank.

best shot for gpus in the future is rendering rentals

frankly the destruction of gpu based mining is  a terrible thing for cryptocoins  basically  they were real gear sold be real companies with real warranties.

and available to the entire world  to kill them off was a bad move which may destroy mining in the long run.

there are more then 100 million gpus that can still earn money closer to 200 million  making them  unable to mine for a profit simply destroys world wide adaptation of cryptocoins.

But unless a rendering rental project gets created it looks bad for gpus.
19664  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [110PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: July 05, 2018, 05:02:15 PM
it is like your test average in school.

5 tests  need to be done
so if you only took 1

and did 100 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0 you are 100/5 = a 20 not a 100

here 5 blocks need to be done in terms of shares  about 5,363,678,461,481  is 100% of even luck.

so if you are 65th

for block not five in a row

you are 65 + 0 + 0 + 0 + 0

if you are in 65th place  for 5 sets of shares in a row

you are 65 + 65 + 65 + 65 + 65   this will get you paid

I'm #65 on the current work list, showing a payout. However, I'm not listed in the coinbase list in the block explorer.
Any ideas?

show the btc address and we can try to figure it out.

you simply may have been number 65  for a few hours and not number 65 for 6 or 7 days

I don't think GPUHoarder,Ohgoditsagirl,KJS are scammers.

Drawfminer was a scammer.

I think  moving to fpga's is a losing move.
I think moving to asics is a losing move.

I think the fail was in the coin developers not the gear builders (other then nvidia making mining cards)

My issue with fpga is it is worthless for resale as are asics.

fpga is worse then an asic as it will be replaced  by better gear.

gpus were and are all over the world and earn money.  millions of people have them  maybe more like 100's of millions   killing this widespread base off is a lower move

My 1080tis still earn 1.75 usd a day and burn 5kwatts or 90 cents   which = 85 cent pure profit   and since the cards are paid off and have 27 months on warranty.

I simply can't justify fpgas for lots of us.

Although I would love to have a 16 fpga  beast from KJS

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4553947.msg41248146#msg41248146

I could go back and forth on many of these points for some time.  I agree with quite a bit of this, but not all.  I think FPGAs will have resale value and for longer than the current 4 week window for Bitmain ASICs.  Everything will eventually be "replaced by better gear."  You know that, I know that.

I agree with you on the coin developers bit, mostly.

But destroying the widespread base -- that I agree with you 100%.  They will shrink the entire market in the near term.  It's dumb but there is no way of stopping it.

Can’t be stopped and will set crypto backwards quite a bit.

Maybe a gpu render rental will be created.  Then gpus could still earn and many would be involved doing it.

Wow lots of activity over here - sorry for not being more attentive to the forum post.

As some have mentioned, there is an extremely active (> 2500 members?) discord focused on FPGAs and a ton of information and updates have been flowing there. Let me try to address the bullet points.

I have a simple request:  Can you and Senseless record a Skype or other video conversation where you talk about your project, timetables, your backgrounds, and how you came to team up on this?  I just watched your Seth Estrada interview and his ADD drives me crazy.  I am on Discord but the signal to noise ratio is insanely high and I value my time.

If the two of you can just record an interview and then post in on YouTube, you can point people to that instead of the answering the same questions over and over and over on Discord.

Just script out some broad topics ahead of time and take it from there.  This is a really, really interesting development and I'd rather hear the straight dope from the two of you without various YouTube personalities in the mix.

Thank you.

It was actually GPUHoarder in the interview but otherwise I completely agree with you. Seth Estrada's interview style and 85% waste of time on nothing drives me insane. It was such a waste of GPUHoarder's time!
Also, it is time to show some results. We have to plan what to do! I am going back and force between FPGA, Acorns and just getting a couple of more ASIC miners and forgetting GPU mining for good. Decision time for me is the next couple of days. Instead of all those discussions and interviews, we should get some real information!

I spent forty minutes watching it and could not stand the interviewer so I gave up.

It would be a simple thing to film twenty minutes of the gear running with the acorn2 and then without the acorn2.

I spent at least three hours reading discord and not much info.

At this point I know intel optane uses a m2 ssd style device in a m2 slot and it works faster.
I also know ohgoditisagirl ETH enlargement pill does make my 1080ti go from 33 to 50 Mining ETH.

So the idea of an acorn2 speeding up my cards seems plausible.

I will post here on and off.  Plus read here each day.

But a demo video would help you out as a picture helps.

When I do videos on YouTube I do them raw no edits no bs and I do them alone with the gear.

Most all of us are gear heads.
And dont care much about slick production values. Just shit that shows the gear works.

By the way ohgoditisagirl and eth enlargement pill is an exception to slick production not working as it does work as a good sell and as a miner booster.

They are why I think your gear can work.
19669  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: July 04, 2018, 10:49:45 PM

Businesses that assure consumer security also stand to make A LOT OF MONEY.  Of course, Acorn, Mineority, etc could include aspects of secure payment options such as PayPal to capitalize as Dwarf Miner did and then did not as an obvious bait/switch.  But I'm not just talking about secure payment options.

They already tried.

I don't understand why you people can't wait. You'd rather that they'd just make up numbers and tell you what you want to hear, instead of getting everything squared away, and presenting you with accurate numbers/benchmarks. I actually appreciate a company that doesn't rush out data/info without verifying the accuracy. Nobody has to accommodate your schedule. Nobody has paid any money for these accelerator's. Having no patience is the reason there is so many scams on this forum.

but he did rush to start the thread and has missed his dates.

I never said anything negative about him everything was true.

he said  mid june for preorder >>>>>>>>>>> missed this date
he said late june for shipping >>>>>>>>>>>> missed this date
he mentioned showing proof with a video >>>> backed off this statement

he has done none of the above.

let us pretend he is fully 100% honest and will deliver every day of delay HERE  means we get closer to gear like this

Thank you all for "buying antminer .... blablabla", It's my next step. But I wasn't my question. Hey may be it's a problem of translation but my real question was were can I follow my mining work on this report.
because "DERP" up and down.
"accumulated": 44113556.95971097, don't give me how many btc I already work.
Philipma says that the lowest payment is 0.00093655 , ok but were I am now ?
My gekko (don't laungh) work on this pool during  some days but how many I cumulate during this time ?
(for information that was my question ).

Solo mine if you don't have much hash
hum solo mining at 25 - 30 Gh I'll find nothing do win nothing now ? may be I missed something on translation.

When someone comes to you with problems, don't react negatively.

Regards.
Aniel

You can’t follow your accumulations .  Your hashrate is tiny.

Derp shifts up and down when the pool hashrate shifts.

Say you stay flat at 21.6 gh.

In theory you earn around 9.60 usd in about four years.

But that assumes constant hash rate world wide network
Constant hashrate on this pool
Along with your constant hashrate.

The reality is the pool shrinks and grows
The world hash rate shrinks and grows.
And your tiny hashrate stays put.

So your derp moves up and down.

There are more complexity involved we do 5n which is about 25 days of mining.

I do not recall if this pool drops your old shares I would need to check through the post here to see if you keep the older shares.

In case you haven't found this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7TLP3MRS8A

A YouTube interview with GPUHoarder that I think is worth watching on the general topic of FPGA's.

Disclaimer:  I think Seth suffers from ADD and his ego has yet to realize that he is not the "content."  He winks, he grins, he interjects topics to show off his own knowledge -- in other words, he doesn't conduct a very good interview.  The crypto space desperately needs an interviewer who can get to the point, ask questions, and keep the spotlight on the person being interviewed.  But I digress.  Seth is a 'shallowist' whose reach truly exceeds his grasp.  Which is okay, he just needs to keep his ego in check more.  Maybe he'll eventually figure that out.

Anyone who thinks the GPUHoarder/Senseless FPGA, FPGAland.com, endeavor is a scam will be proven wrong.

Happy 4th everyone!

19672  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 fans speed get slower if applying external cold air? on: July 04, 2018, 05:46:15 PM
Then what is your solution that covers both, noise isolation and fresh temperature?

good I am glad you did not feel too angry.

so lets go slow  to a fix.

1 unit  in the box   how big is the box  and how big are the tubes you use?

also how long are the tubes?

big tube diamater help  10 inch  not six inch.
shorter tubes help
how warm is the room?

70f  = good
80f   = okay
90f   = not so good
100f = bad

next  the exhaust tube gets the air out of the room correct?

If you have a long exhaust tube  it will need a fan  to pull the air out.
19673  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: S9 fans speed get slower if applying external cold air? on: July 04, 2018, 05:14:43 PM
Hi, I have an Antminer S9 and due to the extreme noise it makes, I put it inside a box with two pipes for each fan. Each pipe has acoustic fiber for noise reduction, however the S9 gets very hot (up to 113 ºC) and the red light next to the ethernet port starts blinking and it stops hashing.

So, I was wondering if I apply cold air (I'm planning to build a cooler) the fans would run slower (and less noisy) ?

Thanks

You are doing  a lot wrong.  people say be polite  and don't write nasty things so I put my honest thought that first came to me when I read your post.

21.6gh will takes months to get a payment.

21.6gh earns  $2.40 usd a year

I would think  you will need a few years worth of mining to be paid.

the lowest payment is 0.00093655  that is  about $6.27

I pulled one of the two miners that dropped a board and moved it out of the solar array which has very good airflow but is a hot space.

I put this 2 board miner in my garage which is 82f vs 95f  and the board came back,

this means either the board or the psu does not like the hotter spot.

I did this in time to hit 2 blocks on ckpool so I may need to figure out how to cool the gear better but I am not sure I can do that in the array.

so if the room your t1 is in is over 90f try a cooler spot or a lower speed setting if you dropped a board.

I am now back to 4 full miners total 12 boards and 1 miners with 2 boards  which is going to stay in the array for a day longer before I test it.

$300 is a reasonable price... I just bought a 2009 13.3 for a build server.... Woulda grabbed this had I seen it.

yeah  any offer over 300 works for me.
screen is clear.
has a new replacement charger
has high siera
has some windows software
tossed in a mouse.

so 300 + offer to any usa buyer and I ship for free

and I can fit it in a flat rate usps box so I will ship to Alaska or Hawaii

the dvd player has been tested and seems to be broken.

the rest of the laptop all seems to work.

it also has a plastic protective shell.
