19681  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8th Alt coin thread. Or what to do now that asics are all over the place. on: July 02, 2018, 05:48:54 PM
Innosilicon and bitmain have sold an amazing amount of gear and low power guys have been buying and buying and buying.

All this leads me to think

We are not going to get a bull run until  the asic miners stop selling gear.

More on that:

They must have done 1 billion in gear sales in 2018  and much is at lower btc prices.
So when both Innosilicon and bitmain  stop selling  they have a vested interest in a pump of coins.  Since they have a ton of them.

As always, your thoughts are much appreciated. So you are thinking that eventually Innosilicon and Bitmain will stop selling ASIC miners and make their profits via the resulting increased prices of coins? What would their employees do? Also, that would seem to leave the market open for another player to jump in and fill the void by producing their own ASIC miners, right?

I’m with Phil on this one.
Basically what will happen is they will stop the sales  of ASICS and what I mean is they won’t sell 300 s9 but only 100 at a time not completely stop production
Then slowly increase the price of bitcoin and altcoins
To where it’ll bring attention to the crypto market again
Thus making a demand on asic product and mining equipment
The two things that will change the game is FPGA become affordable or greens/reds start controlling the market
Like ASICS do to make the demand so they can supply

@ stubo hard to write perfectly clear.  they  won't stop sales  but they will slow them a lot.  with gaps of time between sales.

remember  the workers are in china    so they may be laid off and on at the companies will.

As for rival companies   GMO  is the only new one  and they have done everything wrong so far.

Here is their newest mistake

19682  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: GMO B3 33th/s Asic on: July 02, 2018, 05:38:06 PM
Yeah no, that's a pretty extreme fire hazard. If it requires 4 fans to keep cool, it should be in a box twice the size. Ask any mining datacenter in the world, they'll all tell you "keeping a miner from bursting into flames" matters quite a bit more than "being tiny".

Why are people so addicted to the S7 size/cooling concept that they'd try and shoehorn 2-3.5KW into what's already not a great plan for 1.5KW?

yeah  if I were in charge of this gear  it would have  under 1000 watts

say 800 watts and 10,000 gh   and slower fans that pull less power.

I would sell with home miners as my priority  and market it as such.

"why run this  when you can be paid for running  this"

https://gmominer.z.com/en/spec/

Thoughts? This thing looks like it will would eventually become a flame thrower in my garage set up. 3.4kw.  .. .

it appears to be able to be down clocked to   81 watts a th.

once again  if i pay 1999 today  I wait until nov.

so July August Sept Oct all lost

for 1999  I can get 3 s9i's in about 10 days.  that is 40.5th  doing 100 watts per th.

same as this unit with super fans.

so I could mine for 110days at the same power rate of 100 watts a th.

Phil - educate me here. What do you think it will take for the market to see another pump , and based on your educational background do you think we will see one in 2018 ?

Is it as simple as a small bull run , followed by main stream media touting?

It probably isn’t as simple as that , but those two factors probably could help contribute.

The original concept of pow is turning electrical power into coin.

My gut feeling for the creation of cryptocoin was that the worldwide banking system crashed and burned in 2005-2008

No country in the entire world offered a safe cd / bond at 5%  since 2008.

This came along  to give higher interest so to speak.

Since the world was used to  higher interest rates from 1975 to  2006

Most of the time  mining  pays under 20% each year.

Last year mining paid sick high profit.

So to balance that  asics are now flooding the markets  which  in turn has lowered  a miners rate of return quite a bit. Under 20% profit .

I have most of my profits from 2017 in cash and coin and I want to have more cheap power. buysolar and I don't have enough.

we have a ton of idle gear.   15kwatts of gear are online  21kwatts of gear are offline.

We have built coins back up and we will be getting more solar setup.

this was a nice run for gpu's

sad that it is over.

Maybe the rendering projects will take off.

So I have  13x 1080ti's left

eth enlargement pill does work and the cards are actually turning a profit using it.

here are 3 1080ti's on eth
https://www.nicehash.com/miner/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje

here are 6 1080ti's on zec and lyra2rev2

https://www.nicehash.com/miner/146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3

I have 4 idle 1080ti's soon to go to eth

It was definitely a good run and a lot of fun but you can't expect it to last forever.

Are you using SMOS for the eth mining?  I tried enabling eth enlargement but the most I got was 48 mhs on some cards and 41 on others.  What are your settings if you don't mind me asking?

Windows nicehash miner with only ETH picked.

Two of the three miners dropped out set to medium.

So I went to slow.

The the other three all run fine at medium. They never dropped out.

I will let you know when we have a hotter day then 95f.

Now I have very good air flow. Pulling air out of the mining area.

90 then 97 then 99 and two miners have now lost two boards.

So of five miners three have three good boards.

Two have one dead board each

Sorry to burst your good news bubble but while this mining center in China was flooded and the pictures show a massive amount of ASICs and GPUs, the charts still show that bitcoin difficulty has not at all moved any significantly.

Bitcoin difficulty is still as high as ever. This was probably a much smaller farm then it is portrayed to be.

He posted in an alt coin thread.

I am thinking he saw the same gpus that you did.

As I replied in a pm, after finally having time to read through these counter threads, deleted my post from their thread. The ebay sales clinched that.

Thanks for update

Seems tens of thousands if miners destroyed in China due to flooding

They say it has affected the hashing

I'm not posting a link but easy to find

Record heat today here in Kanata at 35C/47C with humidity  Tongue

Gekko indoor gear will suffice on the pool for now......

Happy upcoming 4th to all south of the border!  Cheesy

well do you have a link  to damaged miners story?

this is what I binged

If we used pow mining to fund solar problem solved.

Lots and lots and lot of solar power available.

Power is not much of an issue for Earth.

Irresponsible use of fossil fuel for power is the problem.

That and population growth.

Although massive crash and burn seems right around the corner due to irresponsible burning of fuels.

Guess I am lucky to be 61 as I will most likely die before 2060.

I see no way for earth to continue population growth and increased fossil fuel burning.
19693  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 17.2TH/s, 1570W Innosilicon announces the most powerful and efficient BTC Miner on: July 01, 2018, 10:13:33 PM
Anyone else have these? I’m considering them but not sure if I should wait for GMO or Bitmain - with the price at $1080 they seem competitive and not much worse than GMO. Bitmain is of course silent so far but I can’t see their newest miner being much better than GMO on 7nm right?

This will be a large purchase for me so I want to make sure I buy the right ones.
What is your power cost?

If you are low cost power these could be okay.

My t1s are having some issues.

I have 5 which is 5x3= 15 boards.

At this point 2 boards are down.

I have run the gear for 3 months.

Room is hot but has good air flow.

Right now s9i with a coupon is pretty low cost.

I ordered a third one today.

I spent 590 usd for it including shipping.

I have psus.  So 590 for 13500gh vs 1100 for 17000 gh.

This makes s9i pretty good. If you have cheap power.

Are any of you guys mining and hodling ETH at the time being.

Basically it seems these days with a bunch of rigs, it will still takes many weeks to mine a single ETH.

Wondering if you guys plan on hodling until the Casper launch in the future where you can stake your 32 ETH and earn income like that without needing any GPUs or electricity.

Even before the Casper POS switch, I think they will further reduce the issuance rate to like 0.6ETH per block, I think that should cause a pretty hefty price jump due to the supply strain.

Basically think of LTC that was $2 back in 2015 and nobody wanted to mine it anymore and how it reached almost $400 last year.

I hold some eth

this is a different approach than before, correct?  At one point you were in a dispute with developers & an exchange.  Has that dispute been resolved?

else

what changed your mind about holding this coin?

I am still in a dispute  about 2  eth.

But I am holding  a few eth  because multiple people paid me for gear with eth.

and since eth was at 470 or so I said may as well hold the coins..

....  Escrow: Philipma1957

It's not possible. The "forum mafia" asked her not to do any more escrow service.

I am doing limited escrow.

I would escrow this if needed.

And I was not asked by anyone on this forum to stop escrow.

I got overwhelmed by smaller escrows and did too many cutting into other tasks I have to do.

So I was asked by people local to me to end my escrow.  I halted for a while.

But I have done three escrows recently all for sums over two thousand usd.

My local people said if I don’t do small escrows and keep volume of escrows small I can do them

I currently have 1 escrow for 2500usd active.

I can do this if op gets a buyer

Aside from being a company no one has heard of before I do not get any red flags yet
Except that their efficiency claims are so much better than the current leading edge of technology as to be highly improbable.

It's weird to say, but NotFuzzy being suddenly NotSkeptical has made me more so than usual.

As for HaggsFinn, it reads to me as thick sarcasm.

In a self-moderated thread, can the moderator edit posts or just delete them?

In my self mod threads I can only Delete them not edit them.

Which means one of the below
a fuzzy changed it
b fuzzy was hacked password not changed and only that edit was done
c someone that has privileges to edit did it
d fuzzy has sold out.
E something else

I do think hags was sarcastic.

I don’t like that neither of them has posted here.

I myself will keep my rigs, they are paid off. And i am preparing to build a couple more to mine some speculative coins. But only since I have free electricity and I am enjoying building rigs. It's more of a hobby than a serious money maker and I think right now it can only be seen as that.

Good advice. Worth merits.

Are you specifically looking for cash, or do you have any interest in trading for another item? I've been in the market for a budget laptop, for business use and I've mostly been putting off the purchase because I have a couple high-end laptops that just need a new screen or keyboard. I've been too lazy to repair them, so I'm thinking this might be a good lay-over laptop in the meantime.

I would take some silver.

My house is filled with gear.

wife is pissed and wants me to clear stuff out.
