A big week for bitcoin venture capital shows the original blockchain isn’t going anywhere
This Super Bowl season, bitcoin has felt like the Canadian Football Association to the blockchain’s NFL. Which is why it is so interesting that this week there were two fundraising rounds — including one of the largest ever — in bitcoin, even as non-bitcoin blockchains continue to cross milestone after milestone. But what the two investment rounds really mean is that the choice between bitcoin’s blockchain with the robustness provided by a global network of millions of users, and the privacy of so-called "permissioned ledgers" may be a false dilemma. Those new-fangled upstarts with a fraction of the users and still developing technology shouldn’t take for granted the granddaddy of them all. Bitcoin’s blockchain is here to stay. http://www.bizjournals.com/newyork/news/2016/02/05/a-big-week-for-bitcoin-venture-capital-shows-the.html

Plenty of people around the world have always suspected how the financial world is plagued by corruption and backroom dealings that shouldn’t ever see the light of day. Over in China, it looks like the country’s financial system might be suffering from a variety of major problems, including corruption. http://www.newsbtc.com/2016/02/05/alleged-corruption-of-chinese-financial-institutions-show-how-bitcoin-is-better/

Forget Bitcoin, The Value Is In Blockchain
Each of us at Neosho can trace our financial careers back to the days of timestamping trade tickets and handing them to another firm employee locked in "the cage" to begin the trade settlement process. Striking the bargain, then as now, merely starts the process of shares trading hands for cash. We share Commissioner Aguilar's frustration that clearing and settlement continues to operate in a quasi-analog manner while trade execution is fully digital and makes use of artificial intelligence and speed of light communications. As such, stock trades settle no faster than two days in Europe and three days in the U.S., no matter how liquid the stock. http://seekingalpha.com/article/3870446-forget-bitcoin-value-blockchain

PayPal Continues To Drive People To Bitcoin And Other Solutions As It Starts Cutting Off VPNs & Open Internet Solutions
There's a fairly long history of Paypal being completely obnoxious in shutting down the accounts of basically anyone challenging the status quo in any way. Nearly all of our stories about Paypal follow a similar pattern: Paypal cuts off MEGA because it encrypts files Paypal cuts of account for supporting Chelsea Manning Paypal cuts off Wikileaks Paypal cuts off Mailpile, encrypted email program Paypal cuts off Smashwords, because it doesn't like some of its ebooks Paypal cuts off Diaspora Paypal cuts off a charitable secret Santa program Paypal cuts off Swedish ISP that stood for user freedoms https://www.techdirt.com/articles/20160205/11394433534/paypal-continues-to-drive-people-to-bitcoin-other-solutions-as-it-starts-cutting-off-vpns-open-internet-solutions.shtml

Factom Lands Smart-City Deal With China
With an eye to the future, China’s government is working with Factom, a blockchain based record verification and auditing infrastructure company along with consulting firm iSoftStone to plan blockchain based administration projects for smart cities. The plan will include strategies for storage, auditing and verification services. Named after the Factom brand, Factoids, a token value, are issues and transferred among users who purchase entry credits and record entries. Factom servers will create entry blocks and directory blocks. The hashing of directory blocks is secured onto the blockchain. https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/factom-lands-smart-city-deal-china/

Merchant Spotlight – Bitcoin Coffee at Paralelní Polis
Have you ever paid for your coffee with bitcoin? Bitcoin Coffee of Paralelní Polis is a bitcoin-only coffee laboratory serving superior tasting coffee that reflects on the flavor profile and unique character of every variety and the influence of the environment in which the coffee grew. Blockchain’s initial exposure to Bitcoin Coffee and Paralelní Polis was last October, when our Security Engineer, Kristov Atlas, visited the space to give a presentation on currencies and fungibility. For Kristov, it was really interesting to see bitcoin so vibrantly in action, and he described the building to be filled with “a very technologically sophisticated and artistic group of people.” https://blog.blockchain.com/2016/02/05/merchant-spotlight-bitcoin-coffee-at-paralelni-polis/

Removal of Dublin’s Southside Bitcoin ATM
We’ve reviewed the bitcoin ATM on Dublin’s southside that is located in Busyfeet & Coco on Dublin’s South William Street in the past. However, we were in there today for a coffee, and noticed that the bitcoin ATM that has been there for the past year has now been removed. We asked the staff what was about it, and they declined to comment, but this now leaves only one bitcoin ATM in the city, at GSM Solutions available for people to walk up to and get bitcoin. http://bitcoinsinireland.com/removal-of-dublins-southside-bitcoin-atm/

19 Bitcoin Remittance Startups That Won’t Let the Cryptocurrency Die
Bitcoin has recently become quite a debatable topic as the opinions are diverse when it comes to the question of whether bitcoin use in terms of security and other risks related to cryptocurrency. There are even some compelling reasons why bitcoin may be dead soon. Despite warning signs, global banks are actively getting into the race of developing their own digital cash. Just yesterday, the news about MUFG coin came out, signifying growing interest from major financial institutions to develop proprietary digital cash alternatives. Regardless of the opinions on bitcoin and other digital money, there are still successful and growing FinTech companies working with the cryptocurrency. The LTP team has been actively following the activities in the remittance space, and it is particularly interesting that bitcoin has a great potential in the segment with at least 17 bitcoin-powered companies fueling bitcoin remittance around the world. http://letstalkpayments.com/19-bitcoin-remittance-startups-that-wont-let-the-cryptocurrency-die/

Pessoal, Vejo muita gente vendendo contas por aqui, e o pessoal sempre fala de qualidade dos posts (Very poor, fair, good, etc).

They stop stop pressing money already! What is the end of the line for this crazy debt spiral?

This question would be like asking: why do you prefer gold over other precious metals? Well, there's no objective answer other than the acceptance of gold as a trade instrument makes it liquid, valuable, and accepted "currency". That's the case for bitcoin. Compared to other coins, it has a wider acceptance by vendors, exchanges, etc.

It's not the money but the people who are using it,they do not have to blame everything on the crypto -currency,they will always find ways to get hold of the funds in any way possible, they should increase their intelligent and restriction on who are entering their country not blame it on bitcoin..
nobody is blaiming X e-currency. the new restrictions will apply to all e-currencies. Nobody can regulate the transaction of bitcoin but if they restrict on exchanging them to fiat than that will not make big problem to bitcoin ecosystem. What if they make it so it records your MAC/IP address every time you make an exchange from bitcoins to fiat and vice versa it becomes quickly transparent who you are and where you are in the world. Then you just need to avoid converting it to fiat. And I'm sure there would be black-market converting schemes...

Lots of interesting videos on You Tube: Andreas Antonopoulos is an interesting speaker. As another poster mentioned... Stefan Molyneux (yes he will sometimes come across as [justifiably] angry) ;-) Jeffrey Tucker is an interesting character. And you will be able to view many other conventions and panels including everything from a couple days at the M.I.T. expo; to the New York committee (Loooong). Many talks from the core devs. https://letstalkbitcoin.comGood conversations buried on reddit. Coindesk I glance almost daily Thanks for these, I just check coindesk, here at BCT and of course Google in checking what is going on but those could be manipulated with personal interests so a different view is a plus. That's a very nice work there. Specially the conventions and panels and all the word of the core developers. thank you!!
