21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: October 27, 2016, 12:41:22 AM
Anyone knows why NEM has such a low trading volume compared to other top20 crypto projects ?
Price seems kinda not really true/supported at these volumes ?!?

Well I wondered that for a while also, but I found that its more than likely due to low sell pressure, and sellers are not willing to drop their price.

I agree about the low sell pressure and unwillingness to drop prices. Nem is moving a little slowly, but working towards very big ambitions. It's a long term hold in my opinion, and I think this is reflected in the market. Not much reason to buy right now, not much reason to sell, so the price is fairly stable.

The value is in a number of things:
- initial distribution
- non POW algorythm
- innovative approach to public-private blockchain 'partnership' via Mijin

The latter is the biggest appeal for me, because it gives business the capacity to run their own private blockchains, but also the ability to transact across a public blockchain. The notion of bigger businesses using a public blockchain to transact / track assets is flat out silly, but giving a private solution with the OPTION of public ledger integration is a genuinely brilliant approach, and it really opens the door for a lot of blockchain innovation that's been long promised, but in part constrained by the public/private blockchain disconnect - it's always been one or the other. Nem not only brings a ground-up approach to HOW the blockchain works (much more energy efficient AND trust based), but also brings an innovative set of value propositions for real businesses.. But that's just my 2 cents / why I'm holding.

These ninja tactics are working so well on XEM's price!
It's just going back 300's, where it was before that pump, let's hope healthy grow to the next year and not that pump/dump game.
Which can totally be avoided like other mayor cryptos do

Unlike many in this forum, the wisdom of your words is mirrored in your post count.

Is this old news? I've seen NEMOfficial regurgitate some older stuff, but this looks fresh: https://twitter.com/NEMofficial/status/787966030614110209

Looks like some huge progress on catapult and transnational volume!
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: October 17, 2016, 04:01:22 PM
That report is from July, though I've been reading a fair bit about banks testing out different blockchain solutions since. It's a long road to official adoption, but I've long believed that NEM is particularly well positioned for this due to the brilliant approach taken with Mijin and Nem, and the possibility of integrating private block chains (Mijin) using a public one (NEM). This provides a solid foundation on which countless innovative solutions can be created. Supernodes, solid API support, and upcoming light wallet all help the cause.

There are so many short term investors in cryptocurrencies - they've just lost patience with NEM and never really had an understanding of the long term potential. Slow and steady wins the race; NEM is a long term investment, and this is just some natural ebb-and-flow after such a huge surge over these past few months. It'll come back - I have no doubt.

I just started harvesting...! I'm excited. I now have an importance if .57%. What is this for?

Importance does a few things, but the most relevant is basically your chance of hitting a block.. Lately I'm averaging like 4 blocks/day with just shy of 2% ..

Most of the blocks I hit have no reward, I'd estimate like 1/7 of my blocks have a reward.. rarely it's like 4 xem, more often it's 40-100, every once in awhile it's 500+. All depends on the transactions happening.

Can someone explain to me why I have a meager 25 waves on my day-1 ICO investment of 0.099 BTC?

So far as I can tell, the ICO recieved about 30,000 BTC for the 85 million available waves..

85,000,000 / 30,000 would be (not factoring for bonuses) 2833.33 waves per BTC, and I sent ~0.1 BTC, which should be ~283 Waves (again, not factoring for my 20% bonuses / bonus impact on total wave distribution).

So why did I only get 25 waves in my ICO account?? Just doesn't add up.. The market cap of Waves is greater than the ICO Investments, but my total waves are worth less than 10% of the BTC I contributed...?

From ICO Dashboard:
Created   2016-04-12 15:00:26
Balance   25.00000000 Waves

Payment will be added after 2 confirmations

Still no resolution on this.. Who deals with this kind of stuff???

Update -- scrap that... 13-IN error.

So no one else had issues with bogus calculations for their ICO Waves balance or has any input on this?
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] WAVES. Ultimate crypto-tokens blockchain platform. on: June 21, 2016, 05:51:54 PM

I see 25.00000 waves.. Copied and pasted these details in my post directly from the ICO Page

Can you show me your waves address from ICO page?

There isn't one, because I haven't yet withdrawn.. I  says "Wave address   Example: 1W..................................." and has a space for me to enter a waves address.

Hi! I have a most important question for you. What do you see in the Balance section in your ICO account?

Have the features of the shoutbox been upgraded?    Smiley

Lol, you must have been away for a while, ncc's gonna get killed (sooner or later).
Lightwallet / Nano wallet will take all of it's functionality. #soon

what is this Nano wallet?

My understanding is that it's a lightweight wallet that doesn't need to download the whole blockchain / sync up, but instead it leverages the supernodes.. Basically, Supernodes do the heavy lifting so that a wallet on something like a Raspberry Pi / Mobile device can easily tap into the network without being an active network participant.

last 37 blocks harvested - not 1 Xem in fees  Sad

Good timing for supernodes, but there also needs to be more Xem transaction volume!

So, Tuxlsik is just another account of the person behind damnac and CECVW right? Just more sockpuppet accounts getting dug up by a grumpy troll? While there's clearly some differences in specific things, such as the AAAAAAAA(((((((((((((((((((( and so forth, the constant incessant posting, overall approach, grammar, etc is so similar I can't help but think it's the same person.

I mean, he has to know that no one's going to give him a couple million NEM, especially with this childish behaviour.. All his points have been shot down in great detail (thanks jabo38), and he's been a bit of a jerk from the get-go, lobbing accusations before even trying to resolve the 'issue'. If he truly was looking for a solution, no sensible person would approach is this way.. Plus the suddenly INSANE level of activity after 2 years of total silence on the account, and just a single day of activity 2 years ago - it's just SO obvious that it's a sockpuppet account.. Plus - no sign that this person ever posted anything pertaining to NEM before a few days ago. It's just about impossible to believe that this is his sole and primary account, and that his story is true.

Plus, if you lost a $25 investment, how many hours would you spend freaking out about it? If he's really in finance, he'd realize that there's no ROI in this behaviour. Clearly trolling just as he has several times using his other sockpuppet accounts to try to bring prices down by tainting the tone of discourse on this thread.

Queue the mocked-up shock & insult and a series of consecutive posts saying nothing new and possibly attacking me directly:

I feel Namespace and Mosiacs aren't sufficiently explained in the documentation. These seem like a significant feature -- akin to the primary purpose of Namecoin, but with some added complexity and a rental aspect..

If I 'rent' a namespace, where do the rent NEM go? Can someone give a practical application for namespace? There are some vague examples, but I'd love a non-tech answer -- perhaps a metaphor?

The mosaic examples lack depth -- an example of HOW a game would track credit would go a long way - the current example is simply that it COULD. I'd love to have more on how it works, and detailed examples of how it could be used..

Are these primarily beneficial for Mijin, or are they also valuable on the NEM blockchain? I can see some business applications, but I still don't get how these relate to wallets, how assets could be tracked, how small / large the quantities can be, and whether they can be transferred among addresses..

Could someone fill me in? Would love to know how these add value, because from what's captured in the literature, it seems this is a huge feature that's easily overlooked..

So I think I get the Mijin-NEM link.

NEM is like bitcoin to Mijin, Mijin is like an alt-coin that depends on the NEM blockchain, correct??

Mijin is a private fork of NEM, kind of the way a lot of altcoins are to bitcoin, but unlike many scam coins, it has a real purpose in the business world as it has been optimized to run on private networks.  A Mijin chain and the NEM main chain don't interact in the same way Litecoin and Bitcoin don't interact.

But unlike Litecoin and Bitcoin, both NEM and Mijin share the same awesome set of APIs.  So DF running a Mijin chain is now introducing NEM technology to a software platform that services over 5,000 companies, some of them are Sony, Panasonic, and Mitsubishi among others.

Does this mean that Sony will be making transactions on NEM?  Not at all.  Does it mean that they will even use Mijin as a part of their software suite?  No, they might not even chose to turn that part of their software on.  There are 0 promises here.

But, what it does mean is that it is possible they might someday use Mijin as in theory that service can very well be offered to them in the future as a blockchain service built into their software.  And once they are doing that and they have started using the Mijin APIs for some private services on Mijin, they are a very small step away from pointing those same APIs at the NEM main chain for different services.  That choice will be completely up to them though and if they do, it won't be happening this spring or summer I guess.

From a business point of view, for private companies wouldn't this mean reduced overhead? Now they wouldn't have to pay payment processors such as visa a fee for their services, instead they use their own private chain at a reduced price. I'm not sure if I'm assuming correctly.
This is possible down the road, but initially financial transactions would likely be between Mijin users (i.e. transactions across companies, or within companies [between departments etc -- finance stuff]), but the potential far exceeds financial transfers. Blockchains are public ledgers, so can be leveraged for all kinds of things.. Imagine IT wants to keep track of where all of it's computers are located (building / floor / cubicle); a blockchain could be used to track these assets and their movement, with the benefit of a rock solid audit trail. Just a tiny example of a non-finance use, there are heaps more.

A few cool things about Mijin mirroring Nem:
1. Mijin's success lends a LOT of credibility to NEM
2. It's very unlikely that business would readily adopt a public blockchain like Bitcoin - they're more likely to create their own alt and run it privately. This approach makes it much easier and more agreeable for businesses to adopt blockchain.
3. As mentioned above - Mijin and NEM use the same APIs -- so an open source blockchain explorer or mobile app madefor NEM could be used by businesses on Mijin and vice-versa.. This could be really cool if it picks up -- I can imagine a number of gits popping up as businesses and outside developers explore what they can do with the blockchain, which could be built upon by both Mijin or Nem community members. A mutually beneficial development framework.

From a business point of view, for private companies wouldn't this mean reduced overhead? Now they wouldn't have to pay payment processors such as visa a fee for their services, instead they use their own private chain at a reduced price. I'm not sure if I'm assuming correctly.

NEM Team,
Is there a reason why YOU DELETED the above Dannac post and other 5 posts subsequent to this one ?
This post doesn't seem to infringe any Forum's rule.
Is there a reason why has been deleted ?
Just out of curiosity.

So this is your third post? As someone with pretty much zero activity in nearly 2 years of having an account, this is what's important to you? No way - just another sockpuppet. Hilariously obvious.
