21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.16: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: November 26, 2020, 10:20:19 PM
What could be the reason for this message?
"GPU 1: Allocation of DAG failed with error: Memory object allocation failure GPU 1: will be stopped."

I tried to use lolMiner 1.15 and 1.16 - same error.
GPU 1 is a RX 5700 XT 8GB from PowerColor.

That is an interesting one. Usually should not happen... unless... is this Linux and if yes: which kernel version do you use please (you can find out with "uname -r")

i am not able to mine etc+zil wit lolminer someone can helps? thanks

Can you give some details about the problem? e.g. cards, driver, error messages - the more details we have the quicker we get it going Wink
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.14: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: November 24, 2020, 10:15:50 AM
Another question:
RX 580-8 rig. On 1st card of rig when monitor connected and trying to look video on youtube or play any videofile (even in bad quality f.e. 320p) video playback goes with freezes. On all other miners (Claymore, TR, PM) video plays without problems during eth mining.

It might be, because my miner has no pauses between kernel calls ... it has two threads to keep the card busy ... Will need to think about this.

I've got no positive results on RX 470 4GB rig even I tried all different miners including the new lol miner 1.16.
I haven't change the old blockchain driver and the result is still poor, max 10 Mh/s for the whole rig.
Now I'm waiting for ETC Thanos fork at the end of November.

Can you share more info e.g. driver and operation system? I am running my 580 4G with still 15 mh/s on ETC epoch 388 in Linux with 20.40 drivers.

Wrt this 6800 stuff: it is indeed strange using the same card 2x. Why this works and if we can replicate this to get the speedup on other systems: not yet sure. Still awaiting an own 6800 for tests, the card to test the miner was a remote one where a friend allowed me to check it out - and there it was only shown as one card.

Its time to say hello to lolMiner 1.16.

You can load it here: https://github.com/Lolliedieb/lolMiner-releases/releases/tag/1.16

Here is the - again not so short - change log Tongue

  •     Added support of Ethash and Beam Hash III for RX 6000 generation of GPUs
  •     All supported algorithms now show the share difficulty and have best share statistics.
  •     New feature: use --rebuild-defect n to trigger a rebuild of DAG if a GPU produced n defect shares on the current one. Default is 3, use 0 to deactivate this feature.
  •     New feature: Use --workmulti n to modify the amount of Ethash work a GPU does per batch. Higher values will cause less CPU load but more stale shares, lower values will give less stale shares but higher CPU load. Performance may vary for different values. Default is 128.
  •     New feature: if Ethash pool disconnects within 2 seconds from connection attempt (immediate reconnect), then the other stratum mode is tested to login.
  •     New feature: AMD Vega and newer cards now display memory temperature in statistics & api (only visible if there is at least one such GPU in the rig).
  •     Default ethstratum changed from ETHV1 to ETHPROXY for better pool compatibility.
  •     Stratum pool addresses now understand "stratum+tcp://", "stratum+ssl://" and "ssl://" prefixes (turning on or of ssl / tls automatically) for better compatibility with existing configurations.
  •     Slightly reduced CPU load when mining Ethash
  •     New coloring scheme with more friendly colors. For terminals that do not have rgb colors (e.g. shellinabox) use --basecolor to restrict to a simpler set. Use --nocolor to deactivate coloring completely.
  •     Fixed bug: Cards may crash when switching from ZIL cache back to normal mining.
  •     Fixed bug: Wavy hashrate - especially for rigs with many AMD Navi GPUs.
  •     Fixed bug: (Linux:) Watchdog not called when a GPU is stuck & extremely high CPU load on crashed GPU. (1)
  •     Fixed bug: Hashrate reporting not working on some pools (e.g. sparkpool)
  •     Fixed bug: Miner can crash after trying to reconnect to same pool over 5 minutes.
  •     Fixed bug: Miner crashes when mixing TLS and non-TLS pools for fail-over.

So pretty lot of new stuff - new cards added (I must say: 6800 is slower then most have hoped, but energy efficiency is damn impressive) - new colors (hope you like it) and a ton of fixes Smiley

-----------------------------

I will do an update after changing the all farm.

Sadly no watts reduction this time - only some CPU stuff / speed stability fixes Wink
But next I will likely put hands to code again to see what we can do Wink

Can you implement an option for minimal rig speed and restart if that speed is lower?
I am using lolminer through SMOS and several times now I found it to be working with 0 H/s.

Problem is: if an amd card drops to 0, then usually the full card is stuck and can not recover unless you reboot the rig. In fact if you try to touch it again often the rig will completely lock up, so system reboot does not work via terminal - you then often need to power cycle it by hand. To cover this the new version finally should be able to trigger restart scripts gracefully. Also smos should be able to detect the 0 hr and reboot - or isn't it.
By the way if a card is most of the time stable but then does suddenly fall to 0 its often its voltage is one small bit to low for current settings. Increase it by 5 or 10mV and see if card stable then again.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.15: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: November 21, 2020, 04:24:43 PM
Yes ... Linux kernel 5.6 forces slow mode ... but on the other hand will work behind epoch 385.
Note that slow mode only means a bit slower (1-2 sec) DAG generation. Mining speed will be (almost) normal. Almost, cause it runs a bit more complicated kernel to fix the kernel 5.6 issues....

By the way I got a lot of requests about Conflux recently and wanted to say something about this algorithm and why we won't see it too soon.
The algorithm requires to evaluate 32 polynomials of degree 1k for every hash before even starting the Ethash similar stuff.
Now that is something that is compute heavy, obviously, but wanted to point out how intense this is. Consider I found a way to do each step in 10 ops (which is already veeeery good) and have a RX 580 with 2304 shaders clocked 1200 mhz.
Then you see the card can do
2304 (cores) * 1200 * 1000000 (mhz) = 2.764.800.000.000 alu operations per second
Each hash needs
32*1024*10 = 327.680 of this

As a result the maximum speed of this 580 would be 8.43 MH/s
- and this is without other components of the algorithm - so more realistically its 4-5 MH/s

Ofc you might ask why then a 1660 is doing 15 MH/s+ .... well Nvidia Turing and Ampere cards have
- Tensor cores on the higher tier cards
- allow to run one integer and one floating point operation in parallel for all cards.

The algorithm is almost written like a showcase for this - one can pack the instructions almost perfectly, so a Turing and newer card will do two ops per cycle and achieves double the speed on this bottleneck.
That is why Turing & Ampere cards are so much faster then Nvidia Pascal and all AMD GPUs - and that is why its almost not worth spending a lot of time doing it for AMD since this algorithm will be dominated by newer Nvidia cards.
As a conclustion:

Is there a way to enforce slow mode DAG creation?
With the update to 1.14, 13 x 570 4GB rig would produce defect shares on GPUs 0 through to 5. I noticed that the fast DAG generation mode was used on the 0-5 GPUs and slow mode on 6-12. I was able to resolve the invalid share issue by reverting to 1.12 which uses slow mode on all GPUs.

Thanks

Just fixed with 1.15 Cheesy
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / lolMiner 1.14: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: November 12, 2020, 02:39:40 PM
Where is 1.13 for Windows? On github only for linux...

Sry, I was not that quick xD
Now we are even at 1.14 ... had some issues with Nvidia rigs ... but well thats fixed and some Nvidia candy added Wink

Are you trying to mine ETC?... why you don'tr try to put the 1st GPU with the Vega?. That Will make the 1st GPU with 8 Gb. Can you try for example a Coin with less DAG?
I need to say I got no idea, why the user had the issue with the other cards not listed. But having a 8G in slot 1 does not help in lolMiner, each card is on its own with this.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.12: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: November 09, 2020, 01:05:57 PM
lolieb.. in ethos to activate the ecip1099 is like -coin=ETCHASH?

No ... either --coin ETC or --algo ETCHASH or ( --algo ETHASH & --enable-ecip1099) ... pick one of this Wink
--coin ETCHASH will not work ... but replace either ETCHASH by ETC or --coin by --algo and it should work Smiley

hello friends I have this problem does not let me mine with lol miner combining amd and nvidea the drivers that I use for amd are 18.12.3 and those of nvidea 382.05 who can help me

...

Build Log: ptxas application ptx input, line 4; fatal   : Unsupported .version 6.0; current version is '5.0'
ptxas fatal   : Ptx assembly aborted due to errors

Ah, my fault ... I only did provide Nvidia kernels for cuda 10 & 11, but not cuda 9 ... Will fix this with 1.13 release (this week)
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.12: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: November 08, 2020, 06:50:31 PM
Lolliedieb, on nicehash mining with epoch changes miner sometimes start to mine with 0 mh/s with no GPU use. And it's no 385+ epoch issue. Just after often epoch changes miner stops use GPU and mines with 0 mh/s.
No errors, no stales... Just 0 speed...

Thanks for bringing this up - seems indeed stopping the main loop is not 100% stable (to restart it clearly after dag rebuild). Will intensively test this for 1.13 to make sure its working.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PhoenixMiner 5.1c: fastest Ethereum/Ethash miner with lowest devfee (Win/Linux) on: November 08, 2020, 06:38:32 PM
You forgot about PM uses less power than any other miner like lol or TR. So his loses in effectivity about some part of percent compensates by power economy in some percent!

I certainly could write a kernel using way less power (actually one for 8Gs is on the way) ... but pushing that too far would need me to fake the hashrate to get users on it... ahm ... wait...

i cant mine eth on lolminer "all versions" on hiveos
every time i try to run lolminer with hiveos
it says "--coin ethash is not supported / --coin etchash is not supported "
can any one here help me Huh?

Please bug hive support with this. I told them multiple times please not to pipe ETCHASH into --coin but either use --coin ETC or --algo ETCHASH ... if enough complain they might listen...

Quick breaking news:

If you mine ETC with lolMiner you might have seen a high number of "stales" in your dashboard since the last epoch change.
In fact these are not stales, this are rejected shares by the pool.

The reason for them to be flagged stale is because the CPU verify in the miner did approve them, but the pool rejected them.

As things stand this is NOT a miner issue - in fact it rather is one with some of the libraries widely used for ethash share verification.
I am in contact with multiple pool ops to get this fixed for you.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.12: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: October 31, 2020, 05:01:58 PM
Is it possible to mine ETC and ZIL after the EtcHash fork?

Yes, it should be. Cause ETCHash and Ethash are identical up to epoch 390 and Zil uses epoch 0 - ETC + Zil should be no issue.

I got some doubts Smiley
1 - have the watchdog enable by default to watch if some gpu is dead and restart himself? or we only have the emergency .bat ?
2- can you insert some json config file example? Cool
3- Have lolminer some discord or telegram?
4 - where can we see eth dag countdown time? Smiley

1) Well right now there is only the .bat ... but into this you can insert a line of code to kill the miner and to restart it. But often this does not work, cause a hung up AMD card sadly often requires a rig reboot. So thats why I created the opportunity with this scripts for mining OS to pick up the call to issue a reboot.
2) Yes, ofc
For example:
Code:
{
"DEFAULTS" : {
"DEVICES" : "AUTO",
"APIPORT" : 8080
},

"EXAMPLE_BEAM" :
{
"ALGO" : "BEAM-III",
"POOLS" : [
{"POOL" : "beam.sunpool.top",
"PORT" : "3334",
"USER" : "32f2e8765c2e8f5ea41becc5f397024c94d80cc5fc50ee917af23b260ecb3a5f.testMe",
"PASS" : "x"}
]
},

        "EXAMPLE_GRIN_32" :
{
"ALGO" : "C32",
"POOLS" : [
{"POOL" : "eu.stratum.grin-pool.org",
"PORT" : "3416",
"USER" : "Lolliedieb",
"PASS" : "testRigName"}
]
}
}

This is a file with one default profile (always loaded options) and two coin profiles (that can be selected via --profile). Note that "POOLS" is a vector - so that can have multiple entries for fail-over. Also field "TLS" : 1 can be used in there for activating TLS.

3) I have a telegram channel: https://t.me/lolMiner  Also you can find me e.g. in Red Panda Discord.
4) Good question. Hard to build in the miner, cause the pools do not send the current block height. But the epoch changes every approx 5.5 days

hi, Beam Hash III unsupporte version o drive version amd r9 380 adrenalina 20.10.1 and 20.9.1 same error, any solution?

Oh ... let me check that... and fix for 1.13

Sorry, I was wrong to write about the epoch.
I meant that when the epoch changed to #372 I was already using version 1.12 for a few hours.

Yes, I'm trying these settings too: --keepfree 16 --4g-alloc-size 3992
Currently it seems stable even if the hashrate has dropped by about 2MH  Cry

Your problem is that 3992 MByte is the size for epoch 371 (1024 + epoch*Cool, so with 3992 your miner will already be in Zombie mode and thus mine slower.  Can you test if you can put the --4g-alloc-size higher? (maybe with higher --keepfree)?
Let me try to explain the issue: Windows memory allocation is a pretty mess. Although the card reports x MBytes are free one does not have an always working strategy to get this free memory. In Linux I just need to create two buffer, with the first one in size of cl_device_max_mem_alloc_size (a value the driver reports) and the 2nd buffer taking the rest. Done and works.

On Windows I need to create 4 (!!) buffers to allocate a lot of memory at all. Here then the first one needs to be cl_device_max_mem_alloc_size minus some MBytes (this is controlled via --keepfree) ... using it all does not work different to Linux Sad
The other three buffers need to be around ~64 MByte, where the last one often already has to be 32-48 MByte max. What happens if I take more? Well then the Windows drivers do put them in system memory instead of on the card and the mining drops to 1 mh/s or so ...

So: --keepfree is capping the first buffer, --4g-alloc-size sets the amount of memory for all 4 together. Sadly even 3 identical cards in one rig might act differently in what they accept. Also in one driver (2020.09) my 4G allows a --4g-alloc-size up to 4026 (slightly more then epoch 375) while on an other its only 4008. Also moving same card to a friends rig there then the max is 4016. So well ... it is a mess and I tried to give the two parameters to config it somehow and rewrote the kernel so either configuration does no longer give invalids. But it is hard to predict what this drivers do and if you want to mine ETH really long I would suggest installing a Linux on an USB drive - that is far more reliable.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to continue mining ETH on your 4G AMDs for up to 4 more month on: October 30, 2020, 06:38:00 PM
Just to note you guys: The miner got an update today that should fix the issues in Windows (first release produced defect shares).
Also there are more options to fine configure it now - the drivers especially on Windows seem to behave differently from version to version, so more introduced some fine tweak parameters to get it running (hopefully) ^^

I switched this card (580 4GB) from PM to LolM, hashrate is fine but I have a lot of hw errors. It didn't happen before.
I'm trying to lower the clocks but it looks the same.
Win 10 - driver 18.3.4

This should be fixed with newest release Smiley

Hi, today I started mining with 4GB cards. Works great but you have to set all parameters in bios directly. And there is a 5% of rejected shares, is this normal?

Hmm depends - on Windows that can happen, on Linux I would say no!

Working heavily on lolMiner 1.12 to correct what happened in Windows ... my strategy to allocate memory was a bit too aggressive there and I seem to read / write locations I should not touch. Will be fixed soon Smiley

Hello there!

Help me, pls!
  I use version 1.11 of Linux with driver 20.10.

R9 390 ETH - 16 MH.... V. 1.11
--algo=ETHASH --pool %POOL% --user %WALLET_TPL% --pass x

On other miners (Phoenix 5.1) -everything is fine, 30 MH.

What should I do or what am I doing wrong?
Do I need to add something to the command line for NiceHash?
With respect.

Hey there. I have to admit I was not able to do much work for the Hawaii cards yet. They work somehow, but seem slower then other miners. This has architecture reasons - every architecture reacts a bit different to the code and optimizations and R9 390 have GCN2, while e.g. R9 380 / R9 Fury and RX 470 - 590 are GCN 3. Thus it might happen that my codes for 380 are quicker then for 390. Once I sorted out other problems of the miner I will go back to scratchboard and see what I can do for the older architectures.

By the way if you wonder what I currently do:
lolMiner 1.12 will get ethash support for NV cards - not tuned to the max, but may be an option for mixed rigs. Also slightly improved the Fiji (Fury) & 470-590 kernels, addend support for the ETC dag size reduction that will happen from epoch 390 and working on fixing defect shares in Windows. Busy days Smiley

37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to continue mining ETH on your 4G AMDs for up to 4 more month on: October 16, 2020, 11:00:09 AM
Yea ... going on at lower speed is no option for all. But well for some it might be.

Consider: at this time the 4G ASICs of the first generation will have left the network. Also most of the 4G farms will be gone - I assume maybe 10 to 20% will use a miner support going on at lower speed.
That said: if currently 30% (just a guess) of the network are 4G devices, then suddenly 70 Th/s will be missing on the network. That would increase profitability of the remaining miners by over 35%. Given that keep using the code to continue mining for a 5-10 epochs more does not sound too bad, does it? Especially the first epochs will be nice.

Ofc that involves a huge crystal ball here. No one knows the exact numbers. Also some big farms will already have contracts to sell their cards / cleaning up the space for what ever will come after. But for some - especially home miners that are waiting for their RTX 3000 rigs to arrive ... well for those it might be an option.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Seems 4gb cards have stopped working on Ethereum mining on: October 16, 2020, 08:13:43 AM
So what is the exact week/day, when 4GB cards will not be able to mine anymore?

Very difficult to answer. I will restrict to AMD 4Gs. Also limiting it to full speed mining:

On most Linux systems the last epoch is 381, some do 382, but that is rare. Some very rare cases are 380, but that is an old driver then.
Overall to get to 381 use a recently released miner that still gets updates and is tested for that. Often it will need a split DAG file (but e.g. Claymore still uses a single big DAG ... that may end earlier)
Epoch 381 by the way will last from Dec 15th to Dec 21st.

On Windows the thing is more problematic. Allocating the max avail memory there is hard to achieve at all and if then with some very dirty techniques. That said: What works on system A may fail on B and vise versa.
Overall realistically 374/375 can be done. I did benchmark my miner on 376 on my system, but that might fail on any other. Also here: use recent releases!

Now the thing with reduced mining speed:
There were recent releases of miners that allow to continue mining on 4G card at slowing down speed. See here: https://medium.com/p/ea8f6298f813
Given that technique the speed will go down over time, but actually the card will not really stop to mine until you stop it (or your OC settings stop you, because this modes need a bit more juice / relaxed uv). But that way you are able to go on some epochs until you find it unprofitable.
Here an example for a normally 30mh/s card using this:

So well ... making long story short: It depends!

39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: lolMiner 1.11: AMD Miner for Ethash / BEAM / GRIN / Ae / Tube / Equihash & more on: October 16, 2020, 06:35:55 AM
I will start some Nicehash mining later on my rig and see if I can reproduce it.
Usually it should not disconnect - at least there is nothing forcing it to do so. Switching epochs (for Nicehash or Zilliqa dual mining) works without reconnect (unless pool decides to close connection (e.g. ezil does so while shardpool does not).
Which NH server you are on? Will give the same a run Smiley
