21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Lifespan of modified bios / overlocked gpus on: June 22, 2017, 04:02:54 AM
Hi,

I'm looking to overclock my rigs, since with the latest difficulty increase, it has slowed down a lot.

Total noob on the subject, so, does anyone have in average how much may the cards last with the modifications? (RX 470 & 480s)

If it lasts over 5 months without being a very lucky guy, is there anyone that are selling these modifications? I prefer not to mess with it personally and end up breaking all of them. So would rather pay to the right guy.

Thanks a lot for the help, pardon my ignorance or if I'm in the wrong section.

Best Regards
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Not detecting all GPUs. Ethos & Windows on: June 08, 2017, 05:17:51 PM
I have been trying for days to make it work, connecting it one by one(total of 6), separately. It detects at most 4(almost sure one time it detected 5).
Windows 10
Z270-A motherboard
RX 470 Graphic cards
Installed in uefi mode, enabled 4g decoding, changed speed to gen1.
Everything updated.

After days of looking around, decided to try EthOS instead.

Looks the same thing, detects 3-5 but when I get 5, it shows an error(something about soft luckup cpu). Only thing different is that it goes directly to mining.

Any help pointing to the right direction is highly appreciated. I already bought around 5 of this rigs, so hopefully is not any of the pieces. But if it has to be done, I can replace it.

23  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Receiving BTC faster on: May 30, 2017, 11:54:38 PM
Thanks everyone, the transaction is confirmed. However pending on coinbase. So not what I thought, contacted their support team already.

Good to hear -- mind sharing whether your transaction got confirmed on its own, or by the transaction accelerator from ViaBTC? In case of the first option, how many confirmations does it have right now?

On it's own. It was unconfirmed all day yesterday, today when I was getting the link to post it noticed it had confirmations. Didn't used any accelerator.

25  Economy / Service Discussion / Receiving BTC faster on: May 30, 2017, 03:56:39 PM
I withdrawed days ago from primedice, but apparently they have a low fee, ruining it for everyone. Been waiting around 2 days and not a single confirmation. Is there any way to try to make it faster? And I'm assuming I shouldn't withdraw more from them until they increase their fees? Or me as a receiver can do something?

Thanks,

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Easy profit? With Antminer L3+ on: May 26, 2017, 04:48:01 PM
I'm still a noob, but from my research before choosing an equipment.

That's because they haven't shipped the other batches. Which are due the next month, and the one following after that. People who have it are selling it for over 5K.

But yes, if you have one right now, or have someone that may sell it to a decent price , you're getting big profit. But as soon as the rest join it will go down drastically.

As a new guy, I know I'm going first with a trustable seller.

I have cash, paypal and a CC.

So you pick the method, even if it's a gift card or something. Only looking to buy $50 woth of bitcoin to invest in crypto currencies.

Preferably a method that doesn't take long to deliver.

28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Proper Cooling for the S9 on: May 25, 2017, 03:45:25 PM
So, as a typical idiot that wanted to get and understand the mining business, I just researched a few, invested and figured I would learn things along the way which make things always interesting. So, my Antminer S9 14Ths arrives on monday, my plan was to put it on an empty spare room at home. But I keep hearing the complaints about

1) Sound, if it's closed it will still be too loud? If yes, I'm assuming people have tried methods of soundproofing?

2) Cooling it. I have no working AC on it, so now I'm struggling on how to properly cooling without bursting in flames or drown in oil. I'm open to any suggestions, I would really prefer if I could keep it in the room since I live in an apartment, and no garage, etc... When people talk about mineral oil etc, I have no idea what they're doing to be honest, I'm still researching about that but seems to be the most common way of cooling so far, looking for something that is simple even if it may not be the most profitable.

Thanks a lot for the time.

29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining with GPUs instead on: May 22, 2017, 08:10:20 PM
Hey,

I already bought an S9 and it's on it's way. Took me a GREAT while to find at a decent price.

So meanwhile I started using my computer for mining. Just for curiosity and some experience, to later find out that with only 1 video card, I was able to mine $6 daily(nicehash) with no skills at all(Gtx 1080). So, since it was fishy, bought kill a watt to see if it was profitable, and surprisingly it was.

Which raises the question, any custom pc that I can build right now, and maximize while it lasts and then just hope for the best and sell the parts when they're not profitable? The one currently mining with the gtx has custom water cooling etc, so can't sneak another video card there.

Thanks for the time and help, very much appreciated.

30  Bitcoin / Hardware / 110V power supply for Antminer S9? on: May 22, 2017, 12:53:09 AM
Hey,

I just realized it needs 240V, in my country we only have 110-120V. Was wondering if there's any power supply with that voltage, or a 100-240V thing?

Or should I buy a converter? If yes, any recommendations or things I should look at?

I'm just starting the journey, any help is really appreciated.

31  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Starting to bitcoin + paid assistance on: May 18, 2017, 09:16:08 PM
I appreciate that incredibly fast response, help and suggestion.

I totally forgot about the electricity consumption of extra cooling that will be needed. Budget is up to $5,000 for the first month, and then $2,000 for a few months + any bitcoin earning hoping to keep expanding when possible. Depending on how it may go, then see if the contract can be renewed before trying to get any returns. Figured, on worst case, sell any equipment for cheap after the 14 months and hope that it covers everything.

I do have IT experience, however, I rather don't have any extra stress that can affect others, like if a day, the electricity ,internet or a machine fails. It could just be my issue and not have the pressure of others having problems while it's fixed.
32  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Starting to bitcoin + paid assistance on: May 18, 2017, 08:26:49 PM
Hi,

I currently signed a 14 months contract with a company experimenting solar panel electricity and so on. Where I'm currently being offered a specific amount of electricity, which I'm not going to be fully use and goes to waste. So I started researching about bitcoin, bitcoin mining, and is a whole new world. And I'm always up for adventures that may lead to profit.

So, I have available 3,500 Kwh monthly (can try to renegotiate for more if really worths it). So the real question is.

Does it still worth it, assuming I'm not really paying for electricity? I have always many projects going on at once, so my time gets limited as well, if it takes too much of my time.

And since I don't expect anyone to waste their time for free, going through from basic things to completely setting up from start to fully working for a fixed price, and hope for the best.

Hoping all that made sense,

//UTC
