Update 3 - Bitcoin Conference Miami

Just had lunch with one of the organizers for the Austin, Texas Bitcoin conference, Jeremy, on March 5-6. Just happened to meet him in the food line and asked if he would like to join me Smiley

http://texasbitcoinconference.com/

We spoke a bit about the conference and they are shooting to be the largest Bitcoin conference in history. I think we need to get a speaker lined up and get them to this conference. Having this contact should help us get our foot in the door and really spread the word about Nxt.

****Action Item****

If I could get the communities help in finding a speaker to represent us at this conference, I will make contact with Jeremy to see if we can get a spot.

Thanks again for everyone's help and will keep updating with more news as it happens!

Update #2 from Bitcoin Conference Miami

Leetcoin - "Compete in your favorite games for Bitcoin."

http://www.leetcoin.com/

The first person shooter we saw looked good (see screenshot) I spoke with the CEO. He is very open to the idea of adding in alts such as Nxt, I let him know we have a number of talented developers that could assist with getting a wallet to work.  He's agreed to do a conference call with their CIO, we'll follow-up early next week.

Getting gamers on board would be BIG.

*** Action Item ***

Take a look at the website and simply thank them for meeting with our community member Matt.

admin@leetcoin.com
king@leetcoin

*** Reminder ***

This is just a first step to discuss possible options but one that's great for Nxt in the competitive gaming market.

Ps

The pic wasn't me, I'll get one up in a bit.

Hey Everyone!

Update #1 from the Bitcoin Conference in Miami!

I just spoke with James and Josh from Cryp2cash.com about adding Nxt to their offering. They appear very interested with our dev team working with them to make it happen. They currently offer BTC, LTC, PPC, NMC, and FTC.

What they do is similar to localbitcoin.com with their escrow service, but they work with a debit card provider to offer instant transactions. This would allow us to get Nxt in the hand of everyday people, which I think is a huge deal.

****ACTION NEEDED****

If I could get one of the devs to PM me, I would like to work out a meeting so we could get the ball rolling.

I will update later with more news as it happens.

I'd say BECAUSE of the undefined qualities of NXT, the things that CfB hints about but are not yet reveled, That any one outside of the Dev Team is going to get themselves in more trouble than its worth on stage at a Q&A like this, and will only let the FUD spread.

People like answers to questions before they spend their money. better to not be involved than to be on stage saying "i dunno, i dunno"

I agree. Only C-f-B or BCNext could do this. NXT would come off badly in a beauty competition right now. Mastercoin and the others would make NXT look badly organised, which would be unfair.

I disagree.  It's better to have someone there who understands the history, current main features along, and differences between the other coins is helpful.  Just don't hype the future plans too much as who knows if they will turn out to be vaporware or not at this stage.  A little mystery about Nxt isn't bad, it's intriguing.

Nifty could do it. Just be prepared to say I don't know if facing too technical questions . Many loyal nxters could point out many next features and advantages compared to other alternatives. Nifty is one of them. Clearly better than no one there to present.

Hey guys this is NiftyNikel

While I would be more than happy to be part of a team with a dev to field questions, I feel that me alone would not be a good idea. While I am technically minded, I am no where near a dev level to be able to articulate the inner workings of the protocol or it's advanced features. Since this is more geared towards the technical side, I say we need to get a dev out there for the panel.

I would be willing to chip in to get a dev there and be on the panel with them, but time is limited and something needs to happen soon. Like others have said, this is an amazing opportunity for Nxt and we should do everything possible to get a dev there.

yes,
people were speaking only about PR Committee for now, they suggested people:

Salsacz (campaigns, viral marketing, media, people, universities... "organizing" all what is in Media topic) - Bitcointalk, all other forums
NiftyNikel (people) - nextcoin
Uniqueorn (people) - nextcoin
Utopianfuture (articles, people, science world) - Bitcointalk
opticalcarrier (scienceworld?)

Joefox (texts) - wiki, Bitcointalk
Anon136 (science world)
Klee
Damelon

The link to the core could be Klee + Jean-Luc

there would be some voting before giving rewards for:

- and also some minirules, like rewarded can be only a true Nxter with 50 posts in Nxt forums...

Using a portion of the funds as listed above in the breakdown would be a great push for Nxt.

That along with a good dev fund would allow for advanced features/clients to be implemented and have incentives in place to get good marketing done.

If we want Nxt to be taken seriously, a good marketing campaign is a MUST as well as a group to promote and denounce FUD. Otherwise we are going to be lumped into the alt/scam/ponzi category with the rest and our greatness will never be seen.

Hey everyone!

When you get a free minute, head over to https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,2788.0.html

We are making another push to get Nxt on Cryptsy and need to show strong support from the community.

I appreciate your time!

BOUNTY VOTE UPDATE
(CONTEXT:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4304977#msg4304977)

I have updated the bounty votes spreadsheet to include all votes up to post 14728:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkfSNgBIzmvXdC1GYXE0QkpyY3lROFhXWTZSamNVVGc&usp=sharing#gid=0

NOTE:  *I am not editorializing* -- just tallying votes as submitted.
  • If people don't know that someone is being paid/compensated and submitted a vote for that person anyway, I did NOT censor
  • I also did not censor if people's idea of what fits in what category was muddled in some cases
  • I HAVE tried to locate links to profiles/projects where those were not submitted along with votes
  • Lots of people nominated themselves.  I did not censor those votes either.

I do not feel comfortable asserting "editorial" authority over the tally -- it's CfB/BCNext's leftover bounty fund, not mine.

All I did here was tally votes to help save folks time!

I would like to nominate NiftyNikel and Uniqueorn for overall promotion and organization.

30  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Amount of Bitcoin addresses on: April 24, 2013, 02:57:23 PM
I agree, you can have as many as you want. I use multiple address to keep track of where my transactions are going and able to keep a running total of the amount of money that goes to any given person.
31  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best exchange to buy bitcoins? on: April 24, 2013, 02:54:19 PM
I personally use BTC-e. It does take a little bit of work to get money to it, but it beats waiting over 2 weeks now to get verified on Mt. Gox.

Well hello there!
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think we will see more Alt. currencies on BTC-E or possibly even MTGOX? on: April 24, 2013, 02:22:53 AM
I believe that Litecoin will catch on due to the fact that the transaction times are faster and that it is protected from ASIC since it utilizes Scrypt hashes. The trick in getting new alt coins out there is the push from developers and supporting people getting the name out there.

Where do you pull your BTC/USD rates from?
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Other Coins on: April 24, 2013, 01:14:47 AM

Personally, I trust BTC on the long-term, and LTC on the middle-term. The rest is gambling.

Binary Fate has it spot on in my opinion. Depending on how you want to invest will depend on what coin you choose to put your money in.
