Waves is kind of a one trick pony when compared to Ethereum and what it can achieve... DevCon3 showed us huge potential for Ethereum's platform in my different areas of the new crypto world. If i were to invest for the long term, i'd go eth over waves easily.

I think anywhere close to $5k is very possible, but in reality it's impossible to guess... I'm kinda leaning towards thinkinkg it'll drop instantly to around 6k (with alts rising at the same rate) and then either a slow bleed down (but not much) or a slow climb back to 7k (if one of the chains comes out as a clear winner).

Some people in this thread are heavily shilling some "not so good" coins, to put it mildly, haha. Don't take everyone's word for granted, do your own research and come up with your own opinion regarding the coins you think are best... take people's opinions for what they are: only their individual stance on a given subject, and nothing more (especially in crypto)

The fork is still 10-12 days away, i think we will see some more All Time Highs before the correction. I wouldn't even go as far as to call it a crash, i don't think bitcoin will go down 50%+ like in the past, this time around there is still new money pumping into the market.

Long term may differ from one person to another because in crypto, everything moves much faster (24/7 markets are crazy). For 1+ holds, my portfolio would probably be something like Ethereum (main coin), Bitcoin, Monero (2 currencies), OMG (ERC20 token), Ark (another blockchain) and then pick up a small market cap coin as a bet.

Given current prices, i'd put most of it into Ethereum and a select few altcoins in preparation for the post 2x hard fork pump. If you hold only bitcoin now you might be buying right before a big correction comes, and you'll be at a loss for what could be a few days or up to months.

5 years is suuuuuuuch a long time in crypto, i wouldn't be able to leave it on anything except Ethereum if i knew i was going to be away for 5 years... Not even bitcoin with this recent fork trend would be safe, imagine if the chain dies... But for 1 year (more reasonable time frame for crypto), i'd get OMG, ARK, FUN, LSK, BCH, just for starters!

I like daytrading coins that i also believe in the long term - this way if a bear trend sets in (like it happened the last 2 months basically) i'm fine with holding the bags at a loss for a while. Right now i'm trading OMG and LISK trying to increase my position in both before the 2x fork.

I think you'd be better off buying coins than investing in mining equipment - especially with Ethereum going PoS in 2 years (give or take), and Bitcoin's (and the rest of the cryptocurrencies) hashrate growing exponentially over time.
Make sure you have btc and eth as big parts of your portfolio then buy some promising alts to fill it up.

I'm sorry for your loss dude. Hopefully you can learn from this experience and make better decisions (more rational and less emotional) in the future. Get the "get rich quick" mentality out of your life and try to see crypto for what it is in a technological side of things. I wish you good luck going forward |

Judging from the roadmap, i'd say 2018 is going to be a great year for OmiseGO. Holding a bit of my portfolio in that coin, atleast until the third quarter. PoS is gonna be released along with their own blockchain (and plasma integration which will help scale it)

Amazon will end up accepting crypto sooner or later.. It is the future of electronic commerce, and a lot of retailers are already accepting it - surely Amazon wont stay behind too much, seeing as they are quite prone to innovations and optimizations.

Its a good time to buy altcoins i think, the prices are VERY cheap. I will buy a litlte bit every couple days of the ones i already hold and try to buy a bunch right before the fork (i think the bottom will be 2-3 days before the hard fork, so november 11th or something)
