Update: U.S. Individual Users
October 16, 2017

This message is further to our announcement of August 11, 2017, with respect to terminating our business with U.S. individual customers. As indicated in the announcement, we are terminating trading, deposits, and withdrawal functionality for U.S. individual customers by no later than November 9, 2017. U.S. customers are already barred from receiving financing from other users on Bitfinex’s peer-to-peer financing platform. This restriction will remain and, in addition, U.S. individual customers will no longer be able to provide financing on Bitfinex effective November 9, 2017.

All U.S. individual users must make arrangements to withdraw their Digital Tokens by November 9th.

U.S. individuals holding Recovery Right Tokens (RRTs), if any, which relate to the exchange of now-defunct BFX tokens to equity in iFinex Inc., may, starting on October 27, 2017, sell all of their RRTs on the exchange, if they so elect. This is an exception to the general terms of use for RRTs. U.S. individuals are not permitted to buy RRTs during this time period. All terms and conditions relating to the sale of any RRTs remain in full force and effect and are deemed to apply to the sale of any RRTs by U.S. individuals or otherwise. Any RRTs remaining in the hands of U.S. individual verified customers after the November 9th deadline may be sold through Bitfinex on an OTC basis through special arrangement with us.

Concerns:

- Is there really any room for error here?

- What is actually going on at Bitfinex that is causing this?

- How many accounts are impacted?

- At times, Bitfinex overwhelms users with announcements and notifications, yet there's no mention of what this is about?

- Or is this entirely normal, has an already established explanation (please provide), and I'm just now noticing?

Anyone?

I know obscuring the #'s in white here isn't entirely helpful but has anyone else seen this or have an explanation of the BTC & BCH adjustments & debits that occurred on the 26th, that refer to the 21st-23rd of Sept ?

What is going on here?

Nothing to worry about?
25  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Are you still using Bittrex? Do you identify yourself to be able to withdraw? on: September 14, 2017, 12:21:02 AM
however I know its legally my fault I didn't read the TOS

Has anyone actually looked at their TOS @ https://bittrex.com/Home/Terms ?

There's no mention of withdrawal requirements.

I've documented my experience here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2068133.msg21148174#msg21148174

5.2 Sending Virtual Currency to an External Virtual Currency Address. Provided that the balance of Virtual Currency in your Bittrex Account is greater than any minimum balance requirements needed to satisfy any of your open positions, you may send any amount of Virtual Currency, up to the total amount of Virtual Currency in your Bittrex Account, in excess of such minimum balance requirements, from your Hosted Wallet to an External Virtual Currency Address, less any fees charged by Bittrex for such transactions (as described in the Fee Schedule (as defined in Section Cool at the time of your request to push Virtual Currency to an External Virtual Currency Address). You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the External Virtual Currency Address that you provide, and Bittrex shall not be liable for sending Virtual Currency from your Hosted Wallet to an incorrect External Virtual Currency Address if that address matches the address you provided to us.

If they aren't (currently or not) reporting to the IRS, why are they requiring SSN?

I agree. It doesn't make sense at all, I wasn't aware that they've completely disable withdrawals for new accounts. They should be more transparent about their 0 withdrawal limits for unverified accounts. It sounds like they've turned into a honeypot. I could understand if they were dealing in fiat, but for crypto only that doesn't make any sense. They're basically extorting user privacy to enable withdrawal.. shame

I documented this crap recently here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2068133.msg21148174#msg21148174

I'd say bitfinex without question, but yeah the shady stolen-coin past can be a little difficult to get over. Bitfinex also made a couple confusing announcements recently regarding U.S. customers: https://www.bitfinex.com/posts

bump, here's my cross-post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2068133.msg21148174#msg21148174

I'd like to withdraw the ltc I deposited! - Thanks!

Also

Curious if users attempting to sign into "Bittrex Support" not realizing it's not Bittrex, are getting creds leaked?

"Sign In" @ top right: https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us (don't enter your bittrex credentials here)
29  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BITTREX blocking withdraws !! on: August 24, 2017, 02:13:28 AM
There was absolutely no warning when i deposited ltc that i wouldn't be able to get it back - and now bittrex won't let me take out any amount at all (i tested all the way down to .023 ltc)

I haven't done any transactions on anything, literally since this one (small, 2 ltc) deposit on the 20th (acc created on 16th)

- Nowhere does it say you won't be able to get anything you deposited back unless you start coughing up <whatever the f we arbitrarily decide on>

No mention under the unrelated deposit recovery policy either

- This exchange intentionally misleads the user into thinking they can withdraw (before)

- The "unverified account.." warning doesn't even appear until after entering 2fa (after)

It's not possible a "withdraw limit has been reached" if i've never withdrawn anything on this exchange

--> 08-24-2017 Edit:

After doing some research, i found this little gem:

- Editing a (blog?) post from 2016 does not constitute notifying new or existing users of a change
- Nor does it constitute a form of acknowledgement or acceptance

Lastly, since everything has to be pointed out here, there's this: https://i.imgur.com/uQJw63K.jpg

I've done one transaction (a deposit) with an alt-coin, why would I think that applies to me?
Would bittrex seriously claim that it's the users fault for taking this literally? ^

It's simply not possible to dismiss the amount of BS going on here.

I became blind to bitfinex notifications & missed this U.S. related announcement.

I'm worried now, though.

I really don't want to end up in a situation where i can't withdraw btc

As a U.S. customer are they going to shut me out? - I've already lived through getting coins stolen, getting the tokens, buying back etc

I've been loaning for a while (that's all I do, other exchange suggestions?) - What will happen if I have loans out & something comes down?

I checked my verification abilities and I'm verified for Deposit & Withdraw of CRYPTOCURRENCIES & TETHER (USD₮) - but not US DOLLAR

- I don't really remember being verified for anything. I don't need to withdraw USD, just btc.

How risky is it to continue, or will I even have the ability to just continue lending?

Should i bail?
31  Other / Meta / FORUM: Cannot login to old account "not yet approved" on: August 15, 2017, 01:53:56 AM
Hello,

I have an account dating back to 2011 or so that I cannot login to, and cannot create another account with the same e-mail address.

I had to create this new pfx account to post.

"Sorry, this account yas not yet been approved." when trying to retrieve password

"That e-mail address (removed) is being used by a registered member already" - When trying to register using the same e-mail address

Can some one from the forum Help/PM me about this?

Thanks!
