21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 01, 2013, 05:53:00 AM
Can someone help me with this info for some calculations:

- How many Jupiters there are in November batch (batch #2)?
- Which percentage of them are already shipped?

I need rough numbers, feel free to estimate and miss 10-20%. Thanks.

I think November jupiter orders start at around order #7000. I have received #9500 on Friday the 29th in the EU and probably a lot more are in transit to the US past that number. We can only take a guess how many machines that is taking into account that not every order # was paid or might have multiple rigs. I think the last Nov orders end at #10500-11000.
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It's bits. on: November 30, 2013, 06:36:43 AM
1. "I lost a bit of money" will become ambiguous

2. People the geniuses that they are will think their internet connections are mining devices that generate bitcoins; per second! Smiley

3. Bit could be an abreviation for bitcoin once it goes mainstream

4. IT crowd associate bit with one eighth => confusion

That said, I like the idea but maybe we should get a couple more candidates.

November Jupiter order ~#9500 in hand in EU. Pleasantly surprised!
25  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Blade Erupter Help! on: November 24, 2013, 06:23:01 PM
If that IP doesn't work for you then you can try doing a hardware config reset on the blade. In order to do that you need to short two reset pins together like in this picture

26  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Blade Erupter Help! on: November 22, 2013, 07:33:58 AM
I don't think you can interconnect two PSUs unless you are sure they are designed to do so. Each PSU gives a bit different voltage on each wire so you will end up having reverse current between PSUs (a bad thing).
27  Economy / Computer hardware / [WTS] Custom erupter blade backplane on: November 20, 2013, 12:32:58 PM
I'm selling a custom made backplane for 5 erupter blades (new version)

* No refunds based on visual disgust (amateur soldering job)

I am also taking preorders for the new version of this board which will feature:
* ATX format (you can mount it in any ATX case in desktop mode)
* 8 x blade port with molex or PCI-e power sockets
* 6 x 12V fan connector
* USB 5V connector

PM me with your country if you would like to order and I'll provide more information about availability and final cost.
28  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [100 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: October 28, 2013, 06:17:23 PM
I tried it with an isolated Dell 375 watt power supply and that made no difference than one running a pc. It shouldn't matter if its running a pc or not, the pc's draw is essentially nil. it's specs dictate it has more than enough power. I've read the OLD Blades over clocked draw 10amps, so these new ones locked at 10gh/s cant be drawing more than 10amps. These power supplies were powering sapphire 7870xt at max for months with no issues. They pull a max of 140 watts. 140/12 =11.67amps. So this is why I can not accept this is a power issue.
Output +5V ====/22A MAX -12V ====/1A MAX
+5V(FP) ====/2A MAX +3.3V====/17A MAX
+12VA====/18A MAX + 12VB===/18A MAX

thanks for the help, really hope the 650watt fixes it but I highly doubt it will otherwise this are going back...

My blades were also not maxing out their efficiency, here are the reasons:
1) molex connector wasn't tighly connected (burned out)
2) config settings did not have 2 valid and different servers (need different IP or port) [not sure if true]
3) I didn't have luck with configuring bfgminer on a Raspberry. switched to slushes stratum mining proxy and a second instance of that for an alternative pool on a different port
4) after switching to a backplane I get over 100-103% efficiency (only 99% on molex)

For a fee I can help you out, PM me.
29  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 15, 2013, 03:25:02 PM

I'm beginning to think that this is the time to get back in, buy unprofitable miners on the cheap and then either run at a slight loss or just wait for a BTC price spike and turn on then.

I think you are on the money. There might be a lag between BTC demand and miner readyness/availability so hopefully we can ride that wave.

If anyone is interested in selling their K16 (in a few months) or other obsolete mining hardware then PM me. I'm building a museum.

For all of you impatient types: processing hundreds/thousands of refunds in addition to organizing pcb/hardware development, being dependent on 3rd parties (Yifu) and optimizing "the plan" on each uncertain goal and missed deadline is a huge effort. I don't know how many people Steamboat would have to have on his team (company) to be able to handle all of that promptly.

I am glad that Steamboat does not spend time posting in this thread and assume that he is working on more important issues.

Also take into account that updates are sometimes not possible due to the rapid changing and uncertainty. Therefore the lack of an update is also an update.

I have a refund request pending, but I always assumed it would be processed in two weeks taken the current situation. I went into this group buy as a hedge for a BFL order, so I might be more stress resistant than the average buyer ;>

EDIT: For those who missed Steamboats most recent reply on September 18th: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192916.msg3184148#msg3184148
31  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 1,120 remaining on: June 04, 2013, 02:55:25 PM
Is there an option to buy a "Fully unassembled unit"? Something for the hardcore DIY-stencil-cutting-oven-reflow types that don't want to bother organizing PCB fabrication themselves.
32  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 2,564 remaining on: June 04, 2013, 02:29:17 PM
I don't mean disrespect by this, but how do we know that we can truly trust Steamboat? I could be totally wrong and Steamboat may be totally trustworthy, but I can imagine that those sending lots of money via Bitcoin to him can have legitimate doubts and some fears at the back of their minds. To Steamboat, in light of this, would you be willing to give your identity and address information to the escrow JohnK? This is for peace of mind for the others here who may not know you so well and I don't mean any offence by this request.

No disrespect taken. I am glad you are taking the time to research who I am and who you are investing with. My identity has not been released due to delays in other portions of this project which will undoubtedly be discovered once the community begins it's background check. I am, and always have, planned on becoming publicly known. I do not have an issue with giving this information to John K. in the interim to ease your concerns.

Please note however, that this does in no way guarantee the safety of an investment.
 [...]

I agree with Steamboat that providing his identity to JohnK will not change much. I would guess that scammers have falsified identity documents anyway and furthermore law authorities would not understand the Bitcoin aspect (you paid with what? do you have a bank receipt or CC statement?) nor would it be easy to investigate this internationally.

I too had a lot of concerns about joining this (or any) group buy. I was amazed that so many people sent BTC, but I was the first person to ask if Steamboat could verify that he had really purchased the initial batch of chips (he was reselling half of it) - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192916.msg2055009#msg2055009

Steamboat has shown great organizational skills and a lot of interest in the Klondike project. I believe he will gain a lot more profit by delivering the advertised services/products than doing otherwise. He bought the first batch of chips before offering this group sell so the way I see it he is skillfully joining his private mining interests with additional business goals.

While everything seems legit I still always use the word "allegedly" when I talk about anything bitcoin. So I allegedly bought some ASIC chips that will allegedly be fabricated by Avalon allegedly a couple of weeks from now. The only thing that is real up to this point is that I gave someone $ to give me some data bits called BTC.

34  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: NEW - another ASIC chip on: May 14, 2013, 11:44:43 AM
You'll be way behind the game with that process and such lead time.

Way behind the current quarter, but the game has 3 more to go. We just started the ASIC race and there is probably 5 years time for various enhancements that will determine the bestselling ASIC design.

EDIT: NOT that I believe that this project is true or will be successful, otherwise why even reveal it on this forum in such a way.
35  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [RELEASE] Avalon Reference on: May 11, 2013, 07:52:49 PM
Well, it should be possible to read the bitstream from the flash chip on the control unit.
Someone with an Avalon just needs to do it ;-) (Maybe start a bounty?)

You'd think that if they want people to to make pcb/miners they'd release the bitstream and hdl source, right? Maybe it's just a matter of time. We are not overly anxious, right? Right? RIGHT?!?
36  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 10, 2013, 11:07:45 PM
Im more confident in your plan the more you write... *lol*

+1. Thanks for your awesome input BkkCoins!

Point taken that the Avalon rig has 320 chips and Klondike 16. As for the BFL board it has the same design for all 3 hashrates so the FPGA is probably overkill for the 5GH/s unit but a single design makes sense for lowering production/maintenance costs.

This bitcoin madness is really going to enhance my electronic engineering knowledge Wink

37  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 10, 2013, 08:07:45 PM
What about the BFL designs? I saw that they are using both an FPGA and a microcontroller. It seems strange that they would include the FPGA if it wasn't absolutely required. There are only two ASIC chips on the 5GHz miner.
38  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 10, 2013, 06:56:23 PM
Why do you guys believe you can get rid of the FPGA?

UPDATE: Ok I managed to read through it Wink Found https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.msg2066226#msg2066226

Even if the reason for choosing the Spartan 6 was due having a large stock of it, I am still skeptical if a microcontroller will be able to handle so much chips. But then again I have no idea how the hashing works nor am I an EE. Just find this really odd.
39  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 20gh/s system, need advise on: May 10, 2013, 06:52:20 PM
What option does he have if he wants to mine right now though? ASIC stuff is INSANE prices now--plus most are delayed till who knows when. Unless you got in on that first buy, ASIC is pretty tough to jump into at this point.

I thought he wants to profit, not to mine for the sake of it. It's a good time to wait and have some change when the avalon chip designs are available for sale in a couple of months. I don't know about other cryptocurrencies so if LTC is worth it then go for it.

Personally I bought some avalon chips and think gpu's are on there way out. Maybe it will take 6-12 months but we'll get there.
40  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 20gh/s system, need advise on: May 10, 2013, 04:15:57 PM
First of all, GPU mining will be profitable in future ?

It is in my best private interest to invite you to invest a lot in a GPU mining rig so that you won't have any money left to compete with my (and all the other) asic rig in a few months Tongue
