21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform on: March 05, 2018, 01:57:22 PM
I'm loving HiveOS.  I was using Windows 10 previously and would occasionally have reboots.  Now, after some configuration, I'm rock solid over the weekend.  Great work on this OS!

I'm using Claymore and mining eth currently.  I see lots of options, though.  Anyone suggest using something other than Claymore?  Currently I'm running:

  • (6) RS580 cards
  • Approx:  30.7 Mh/S each.  Total: 184.4
  • Approx: 0.05 ETH over 3.5 days = $12.3 / day (again, approx, might be $12 even

So - doing well, but always looking to do better.  I've never really tested one miner over another for ETH.  I have for ETN, but never for ETH.  So... any suggestions on which miner would give me higher returns?

ok, so it looks like I might have sgminer going now.  I needed "gpu-platform" : "0"

So far it is looking about 620-700 per GPU

Last Question: Is there any HTML interface like Claymore has?  I liked being able to see that remotely, but don't see any sort of port options (and my googling is resulting in nothing)

You should be able to get 700h/s from 580's easy.  So its more like 4200H/s for a 6GPU rig.

Well, I tried XMR-STAK - get AMD Backend Disabled
tried SGMiner  - asks me a bunch of questions and then says Pool Setup failed (typed in us-etn-pool.hashparty.io:5555)
Claymore - works, but getting that low hash

I hate wasting time while claymore could have at least been plugging slowly Smiley

The volume is certainly going down now that most of the ones trying to grab early profits have done so.  Looks like it has steadied, I guess we wait until the next group wakes up in their part of the world to see which way it will go now.

You have to configure the Claymore, refer to his thread.
I would suggest you to use SGminer or XMR-STAK, the newest XMR-STAK 2.1 is pretty noob proof for AMD cards, links in the first post.

I did base it upon the configuration in the post.   I can try one of those two, if that is better.

I think you have to make your own decision about buying.. If you are a day trader, probably not.  If you hold, then I suspect their marketing department to pump out enough good news in regards to partnerships and planning to move the coin up in price.  I also expect it to hit major exchanges and see a rise as well.

All speculation.  That's why I say you go in at your own cost-level and risk.  I grabbed some at 330, 350, and 399 so far.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ELECTRONEUM SPECULATION THREAD on: December 14, 2017, 01:59:00 PM
There are still more dumpers, IMO.  Took me quite a bit of time to get to my wallet yesterday. And I hear transferring to Cryptopia wasn't super-smooth either.  I'm not dumping, I'm buying, but I'm hoping there are more stupid dumpers to take advantage of Smiley  No offense to stupid dumpers.

Hash rate between 700 H/sec and 1.4k.  I've gotten a total of 313.01.  In the last 24 hours 8.86 ETN.  Seems pretty minuscule for a 6-GPU Rig + CPU mining on other machines.
What kind of a 6-gpu rig produces only 700-1400 H/s? That doesn't sound right.

I'm not saying that sounds right... I agree, it does not.  I'm only reading what I see at Hashparty.io after looking at their stats for me.  When I look at the GPU Rig itself, I see:

XMR: GPU0 381 H/s, GPU1 384 H/s, GPU2 385 H/s, GPU3 381 H/s, GPU4 376 H/s, GPU5 385 H/s

So - that would be more like 2,292 H/s

It's not like that for Ethereum, it is WAY higher.  This is just how it runs against XMR, I'm guessing.  For Ethereum each one is nearing 600 as I recall.

It is a 6-Rig, RX580

I'm curious. I've been mining ETN now for about a week, I think.  Hash rate between 700 H/sec and 1.4k.  I've gotten a total of 313.01.  In the last 24 hours 8.86 ETN.  Seems pretty minuscule for a 6-GPU Rig + CPU mining on other machines.  Not the hashrate, but the return.  I'm using Hashparty.io where they have a good-sized pool and block found every 53 minutes.

Why so low??  I feel like I would be better served not mining ETN anymore even though I feel good about the coin (which is the reason I'm mining it).

I'm in the same boat.  I got them to respond one time.  They asked me for that photo with me holding a piece of paper and my own ID.  I got that to them within minutes.  Now I've been waiting 8 days since I sent in the photo (which is on top of the 5 weeks it originally took them to respond).  They only responded because I sent an email and got lucky to get a hold of someone, IMO.

It is very frustrating.

Well your mining on a pool wich finds about 1 block per day, so you will get more ETN once a day, after block is unlocked. You should pick a pool with higher hashrate if you want to see more going on on your balance. Still the overall income should be about same no matter which pool you use, unless its really small pool.

Hashparty.io says on the homepage that it is finding a block every 11 minutes.

New in this thread and I very much appreciate all the information.  I've only turned on mining on my rig for Electroneum in the last 30 minutes.  I see a bunch of shares when I remote in (Claymore) and I have 6 GPUs running for a total of about 2400 H/S.  I'm using us-etn-pool.hashparty.io:5555.  The website shows me at 2.04kH/s (could be correct on average).  However, I never see a pending balance update or a total paid update.  I would expect at least a pending balance update, I would think...

I had 3 CPU minuers going for Electroneum the past couple days on the uspool. Those are averaging about 235 H/s.  I noticed as of this morning at least... the pending balance has froze at 15.29 ETN.

Is there something going on on the network - I only ask because I would have expected uspool.electroneum.com to keep trucking with my CPU Miners at the very least.

thx in advance!

An opinion from a noob, the edge of XBL's poker game is that the players will have a chance to get more value to their winnings in XBL, if the support and market is right, there's a better chance that the price of each token will fly to the moon unlike other sites using fiat currency where the price moves so little and lesser chance of getting significant extra value to their winnings given that the price will go up due to XBL's low supply and hoping with good marketing to their upcoming games, probably will result in high demand and eventually increasing tokens value..I think the key here is market market market that poker and upcoming games to sustain and increase the demands  Grin

ok.  makes more sense to me I guess.  Thanks for the opinion and I will have to research more.  At first I thought you were making fun of me for being a noob, lol, but then I saw you have 1 posts. ha ha.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA & Internet of Things speculation on: September 30, 2017, 01:04:10 PM
IOT is certainly a massive buzz-word.  I haven't seen who they are partnering up with, though?  Maybe if they partnered with PTC or an industry heavyweight I would buy in.

I've read through some of their stuff talking about sensors using their Tangle / DAG, but realize that the companies who create those sensors are the ones they would need heavy partnerships with.... The Schneider, GE, Eatons, Siemens of the world for manufacturing or the Samsung, GE, LGs of the world for home.   I would love to see who their partners are - I work in IOT every day as an engineer (IOThas been in manufacturing for years before the term IOT came along.

Just interested in getting more information on their current partnerships to see if it is worth investing.  Show me some links, please!  I can't find any Smiley

I wonder, coming from the online casino industry, how this will make any sort of presence there.  They are all geared up and mostly using BTC.  They don't even have other coins on their radar in that industry and the customers only use BTC when they are from areas where it is impossible to use their native currency. **EDIT** Forgot: And affiliates get payments in BTC also in certain programs.

Besides that - on a specific game (let's say Billionaire Hold'em), how would they get traction amongst so many competitors?  It is a VERY competitive industry, more than most people are aware.  It's not one where you put up a new app and it explodes into popularity.

These are just questions... not poo-pooing the coin (I bought some before I thought of these questions).

No worries.. I already downloaded several wallets, have paper copies of my keys, and transferred the long-term holds from Bittrex.  I appreciate the help and support, it wasn't terribly difficult once I started.  I already had Exodus as mentioned in one of the initial posts (I think) - so some of my coin, including my mined coin are with that wallet.  Now it is just watching and waiting for the transfer back and the sell once they near the mark I'm looking for.

Thanks!
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to hold coins? on: September 28, 2017, 04:55:02 PM
ok.  Looking into hard wallets.  I already got the long-holds off Bittrex.  It's a step in the right direction, it seems.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to hold coins? on: September 28, 2017, 01:14:33 PM
Just making sure I understand here... because it is all way over-confusing to start:

AltCoins - I can only store these (long-term) in their own wallets, correct?

Electrum seems to be only a bitcoin wallet, so this would be after a trade if I wanted to not trade anymore and store the BTC?

I do use Exodus, so I have some others stored there, but it's not like there are a ton of altcoin options there either.

So that leaves...

Altcoins - Longterm - Store in their own wallet, then?
Altcoins - Short Term - store in exchange with limit order?
BTC - remove the amount from the exchanges that I'm not actively trading with?

Safety - use paper wallet or Ledger/Trezor.

Trying to cover all my bases here.  I think I'm understanding some of this.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to hold coins? on: September 28, 2017, 12:42:14 PM
I own Trezor. But I'm using it only for long-term hodl. My daily needs are on local/online wallets. But only small amounts.
Never use Cryptopia or any other exchange as long-term wallet. Exchanges are... exchanges. To exchange coins and withdraw.

Trezor - ok, I will look more deeply into that although my only thought was that it is limited on what currencies it can hold, correct?

Exchange Wallets - When I transfer out of an exchange (haven't done except from Coinbase for BTC purchase to Bittrex for purchasing other currencies), wouldn't I get a fee for transfer to my wallet?  If so - why not continue to keep it in the exchange with multi-factor auth enabled?
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best way to hold coins? on: September 28, 2017, 11:54:55 AM
Hey guys,

I've read around a bit, googled, but I know many are active traders - so I'll ask here:

Background:  I have about 6 coins currently (not much) and 1 ICO (in it's own wallet, of course). Some of these are active trades, some for hold.  Currently I have 1 in a Cryptopia Wallet (unsure if this will be hold or active yet) and 5 in Bittrex Wallets.  I also have Exodus and mine ETH and DCR to those wallets.

What is the preference?

  • Have my own PC-based wallet and back it up?
  • Use a hard-wallet? (thinking like Trezor)
  • Other?

Thanks.  Just trying to figure this all out Smiley
