Hello. I am using the Monero-Core GUI (Pre-Alpha? version) on linux. I have bitmonerod still syncing in the background but the GUI says its Disconnected. Is this expected until it catches up?
Last time i tried (one or two months ago) the gui was able to connect on the testnet but not on the real network. i don't known if real network is available for now. useful instructions for testnet here: https://moneroexamples.github.io/private-testnet/Thanks, thought it had some mainnet functionality.. guess not.

Ofcourse. Monero community for the first time started to talk about Marketing.
Marketing are not only clicks on adds. But we can save a whale from evil Japanese Whale hunters and whole world will write how Monero save it. But i guess that might be a bit to expensive. But if that happens I am sure no one in Monero community will say that those who organized it did wrong since Gold dont need any proactivity that people see its shine.
wait what. how can we save a whale? Sounds like sponsoring Sea Shepard... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycyCfK14axw

This is really cool. This will probably be the most secure way of protecting your bitcoins without a hardware wallet until malware/hackers start to look for it. Vinyl has been done before, though they are redesigning the website currently and have little information available on their website but the Coindesk article has much more: http://www.coindesk.com/new-sound-wallet-stores-private-keys-vinyl/http://soundwallet.net/Regardless, more competition is not a bad thing.

A friend of mine shared this article with me today. Since he does security work on networks and the like for a living I always take what he says seriously about hacking. He has also been a supporter of Monero since I got involved almost two years ago. https://www.guardicore.com/2016/06/the-photominer-campaign/Earlier in this thread maybe a year or so ago, there was a few posts by somebody who claimed to be part of a eastern european hacker group that was highly interested in Monero. (I cant seem to find the post since I cannot remember the name of the group. But i remember them saying that their hacker group was their username) Id say there is a good chance they are involved with this. Edit found the post of interest. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg8381682#msg8381682This makes it the first exposed botnet/malware utilizing Monero.

Fund this bug: Create rulegroup1 and rulegroup2. No Problem Create rule in roulegroup1. No Problem Create rule in roulegroup2. Its adding the new rule in in roulegroup1 and it should be in roulegroup2.
Yep, this is happening to me too. After a little bit i realized when you make a new rule it asks which group do you want to put the rule in. Make sure you pick the correct group. Look in the bottom right, to pick your correct group.

Thanks, I was really stoked it was back... then noticed it was only Dash, Bitcrystals and GEMZ. No Monero yet.

I have a code. Willing to take BTC. $40 sound good?
You setup the escrow then, if you don't wish to go first.

I always thought Litecoin was going to be the #2 altcoin forever because of its "Bitcoin backup" status. Boy, those were the days of being naive.
It should be pretty obvious that the #2 coin is going to be a privacy centric coin in the future.
Monero seems poised to take that spot, as continues its slow (but steady) growth.

Bumping this! In addition, even if you don't have an account on the official forum you are able to contribute, just press the contribute button and it will explain how to donate (so in essence you are able to donate anonymously). We're currently at 5,314.50 / 7,800.00 XMR (68.13%) This is a great cause. I'd post there but waiting for my forgot pw email. 200 sent.

For the mac clients, where is the blockchain and default wallet location hiding? I would like to restore a wallet but cant seem to find how on the wiki.

It would be nice to see an updated working wallet. MoneroX crashes before loading on Mac.
