21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Number of ICO 2017? on: November 20, 2017, 03:18:04 PM
There are definitely thousands, from a recent article I have read it was the case that there were over three thousands ICO's launched in 2017, which is crazy if you think about it. 99 percent of them are completely worthless and investors will sooner or later get rekt and lose everything. I hope people are somewhat conservative and don't spend more than they can afford, currently it's kinda tricky and it's not easy to recognize which project is for real and which projects want to scam their investors. Either way the best thing is to do your own due dilligence and read the whitepaper and relevant blogs to really understand what the coin is about. Don't wait for a new project to pop up, rather just wait until you find the one, and when you do so, invest in it.
22  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still support Ethereum? on: November 20, 2017, 01:49:24 PM
I'm in Ethereum for the very long term, I'm a strong believe that it's the coin with the most potential out there, even though so much money has flown into it lately, it's potential is still so much bigger. Just think of it. A decentralized place where anyone can create anything they want, Ethereum has the first mover advantage and it's only a matter of time until even more projects get started and more developers start creating products that will be used by million (and in some years) billions of people. The fact is that Ethereum is still at the very first stages and it will take a while until its value is recognized, when that happens we'll see a price increase nothing like we've seen before and ETH will eventually surpass BTC (highly optimistic about that).
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is the future of crypto, bitcoin is not. on: November 20, 2017, 12:51:46 PM
this thread is epic and I hope it stays alive for many years to come. It's a window to the past that basically shows how people speculated back in the days and how people are still speculating up to this day. Many naysayers, but they have been proved wrong, especially about ETH. Back in the day it was all about BTC, when an altcoin was coming to the market (which was unusuall back in the days - you'd see maybe a new one once every two-week/month) then everyone was saying "shitcoins". Now that they have surpassed the total value of BTC (in some months, BTC has still overall dominance) they don't say that anymore. The point is that many great projects like Ethereum have really shown that they are here to stay, and people should get used to that.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: I have 250 ETH, Hold or SELL? on: November 16, 2017, 03:58:22 PM
HOLD. Why would you sell that, if that's the only stack you have and you don't own any other coins, then what you can do is try to diversify your portfolio. Ethereum might be a great coin to hold but it's still only one coin, and one coin means that you can fall once and never get up again. If you want my suggestion you sell a portion of that 250 Ether and buy some BTC or other atlcoins, maybe from the top ten would be a good idea. That way you will be kinda ensured in case something goes wrong with Ethereum and it starts to fall in price, it can happen you never know, so many unexpected things are happing in the blockchain space that being diversified is one of the most important things you should do, besides storing your private keys in a secure location.
25  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alt buying time on: November 16, 2017, 03:13:52 PM
Everyone who went into BTC got absolutely rekt. It just shows how no one really can predict the market, people think they can "read" it but they are completely wrong. The market is dicated by external forces which most of us have no power to influence or foresee, and that is the major driver of prices. Who can predict a governmental ban, or an ICO cancellation? No one. But still, these are the factors that affect most the prices and these are the cases where investors lose most of their money. So the best strategy is just to hold on to the Altcoins you already believe in and don't let a fork ifluence your decision on whether you should sell something now or buy, just keep up to them. There will be enough forks to come and it doesn't make sense that you keep on buying or selling them.
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The most undervalues altcoins on: November 16, 2017, 01:39:50 PM
I think there are more undervalued ICO's than Coins themselves. ICO's will eventually materialize to coins so why not invest in them directly, since you're gonna receive their coins at the best possible price (usually when a new coin is launching you see a major increase, in most cases, of value). The fact that you have the option to participate so early in the project is a great way to double or even multiply your returns. ETH for example was selling at about 0.33 cents when the ICO launched and now it's trading at about 300, you would have gained much more by joining its ICO than having bought it at let's say 6 or 7 dollars, the earlier you join a project and get its coins the better the chances for you to make that 20x return that you're looking for.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoins back to downtrend as usual on: November 16, 2017, 10:11:09 AM
there was a downtrend before the fork but as you might have noticed as soon as it was finished (or cancelled more accurately) everyone started investing back in altcoins. That's how things usually go, everyone runs behind the short term profit and forgets the bigger picture, which is basically that we are at the very early stage of the crypto evolution and that it takes time for a market to mature. When it does though (mature) we'll be seeing some interesting developments in both terms of seeing new projects with fantastic ideas (and blockchain integration) and price alterations. The value of most of the cryptocurrencies will increase significantly and we'll experience a new kind of investment heaven. Made for a new generation.
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should you sell altcoins before the fork? on: November 15, 2017, 03:58:51 PM
don't sell all the time and don't buy all the time. Try to stick with something a bit longer than a couple of days or weeks. Many are just trying to catch waves which is nothing that is possible, you can't foresee many of the things that are happening in the market and technical indicators don't always indicate where price will move, its more the external factors that are indicating the price, such as user adoption and regulatory changes. People have moved money into BTC in anticipation of the fork and see what happened, an external force, it was cancelled and now all the money in running back to the altcoins. Everyone wanted a piece of free coins and now that noone is getting it they are getting back to where they started, and lost a lot of money on the way.
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New ICOs everywhere, What's your take on them? on: November 15, 2017, 03:10:27 PM
It's basically the idea that attracts me towards investing in an ICO, if I read something that leaves an impression on me, and I have that moment.. that "tick" going in my head, and say to myself "wow".. then that's a project and ICO that I would support. Something has to click in you to be attracted to something, whether that's another human being or an idea. I think ICO's offers everyone the chance to express these ideas and gives everyone else the chance to evaluate them, which can be evaluated rather easily (by seeing how much money the project got funded with). I hope this thing will multiple but hopefully as well we'll see it a bit more regulated. I mean, ICO's are great but there is no organization, everyone does whatever and developers don't always have the best interest of their investors.
30  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you buying altcoins on: November 15, 2017, 01:24:06 PM
Yeah, altcoins are the best investment you can make. The traditional market is offering you an average return of about 10% (the S&P index, which is an index that shows the 500 most capitalized companies in the US, has an average return of about 7% a year, so 10% would be outpeforming). Considering that the traditional market makes so little money, when compared to crypto's, it's crazy to even consider which one you should choose. At the same time BTC had a year return of 700% until now, which means you managed to increase your initial investment by seven in one year, which in the traditional market would have taken seventy years. It's really the place to be right now and there are so many people talanted who are putting their smarts to make crypto's work. I'm happy to be part of it and if you want to be too, buy altcoins and support the revolution.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: unemployed millioners on: November 15, 2017, 10:25:37 AM
It's crazy how the crypto world has changed so many lifes, people are becoming millionaires literally over night, if not over a course of a couple of hours. The problem is that many of them are in-it for the money and not the technology or the promotion of what they are really intending to launch at some point in the future. Many are just seeing ICO's for example as a means of making money and disregard other things such as having a good business plan, team and idea. Because they are not really intending to launch a successful product/service at the first place, so after they get their money and payment, they usually dump it over some exchange that that's end of the story for that project. Hope we'll be seeing more regulation in the short-term.. things might change then.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Casino / Betting coins - collection & speculation thread on: November 14, 2017, 03:56:18 PM
You didn't mention Ehteroll! They are probably one of the most simple concepts out there, and one of the most profitable coins to hold. Mathematically investors are insured they will get a dividend or payout from Etheroll, and I think and speculate the the price will keep on increasing. It only makes sense to me, the house has an edge and based on that a steady income. They have splited transactions into many million (they used to have low ether amounts avaiable for trade only, but are increasing the numbers that someone can bet) and that will drive a house profit that is much higher than in the past. So it's a self improving protocol and token that will eventually reach about half a billion (my prediction), considering that there will be other players out there that will want a piece of the cake.
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If you have now 500$ for invest? Where you invest? on: November 14, 2017, 02:25:36 PM
Same question as in topic.
Where you invest your money today?
Btc, Ltc, Eth, Lisk or what?

Considering that five hundred is not that much, I would most likely invest them into some ICO's, you have the highest chances of return by investing in ICO's, from the other side though, the coins you listed, especially ETH, are much more safer and can kinda provide you with a steady income/inflow. My suggestion would be that if you don't want to take any risk at all, invest in the coins you already stated (especially ETH/should have the biggest holding of that) and if you would like some more returns and take some more risk as well, you can invest in ICO's. If you want a middle way, the you can invest 250 in these coins, and the rest 250 in various ICO's, so you'll be well diversified.
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Top crypto currencys to buy on: November 13, 2017, 02:53:48 PM
Whatever you decide to invest your money into, make sure that your holding are diversified. What the means is that you should hold many coins and not only one. If your portfolio is 100%, you should invest at least 25% on BTC which is relatively stable and has been performing good, 25% to the top ten coins (ETH, XRP etc.) and the rest 50% can be allocated to ICO's, that would be my suggestions. Relatively all the coins are performing quite well and it's not really a hit or miss like other coins out there. Whatever you'll put your money into it's likely to appreciate, but if you manage to join an ICO or a presale, and invest a descent amount in it, your potential returns can be really huge.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: favorite altcoin on: November 13, 2017, 11:28:53 AM
I really like SALT. First of all it's undervalued, it's currently trading at around 4$ which is a good price, considering that the crowdsale was selling at about 12$, there is a lot of potential but it will take a while. The thing that SALT is solving, is the creation of credit that is actually backed by real collateral (coins), usually whoever wanted to take a loan in the past, had the so called "credit history" (which not everyone did have). Now with SALT noone needs a credit history, as they have their tokens to back up their credibility, and the reason to repay the original loan + interest. I think the concept is very innovative and we'll be seeing more progress in the coming years, when SALT will expand in both Europe and Asia - exciting times ahead of us.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What happened to the doge coin? on: November 10, 2017, 04:06:39 PM
What do you expect from Dogecoin? Be honest, the coin has been made as a joke to start with so it's hard for anyone to take it serious. The fact that it's already worth hundred million is staggering and confuses most people including myself. The development around the coin is not as active as with other projects and what are the long-term plans for it's development? Are they planning any important updates that will give them some sort of competitive advantage? I don't think so.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Buy ETC and thank me later on: November 10, 2017, 03:19:39 PM
ETC has nothing significant to offer, you might make a quick buck, but eventually the price will adjust to what the project is really offering, and that's not a lot. ETC is just a copy of ETH just like BTC Cash is to BTC. Copies will always stay copies and will never be able to immiate the original. They think they're doing things better but they are just making the original currency stonger. In a couple of years we'll have some many forked version that people will understand that it only makes sense to keep the original.
38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: If you had 15 Ether, where would you invest for the long term Today on: November 10, 2017, 02:29:14 PM
I would keep that 15 Ether and sit on it.. what you can do is maybe sell a portion of them and diversify your portfolio, you can sell maybe five ether and exchange them for BTC, but whatever you do, don't liquidate your holding (to fiat), be sure to be invested in one coin or another because the entire market is starting to grow now and we'll be seeing many participants entering in the market, from institutional investors to retail consumers. It's going to be massive and you will want to be invested during that time because it's the best way to make a living out of cryptos at the moment. Forget the 8 to 5 job patterns, just invest money from you salary to buy crypto's and you'll be golden in a couple of years.
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best crypto to buy now? on: November 10, 2017, 12:32:39 PM
The first thing I would advice you is not to put the entire 1000$ into one coin. I'd tell you to better invest in many projects, maybe (minimum) five different projects by investing 200$ in each. In that way you will increase the chances of multiplying your return, which would have been higher if you invested the entire 1000 dollars, but that could go to zero if this one coin or project does not succeed. The best thing would be to put some money in the standard currencies ETH, BTC etc. about half of our funds (500$) and put the rest of the 500$ to ICO's. Your chance to multiply your returns are the highest when you join at the lowest possible price, which is usually during the ICO phase of the project. That means though that you have to thoroughly research the team and project you'll invest your money into, to make sure you ain't gonna get scammed.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best privacy coin? on: November 10, 2017, 10:41:27 AM
To start with, if my total portfolio would be 10k I definitely wouldn't put everthing in one privacy coins, I'd diversify my investment to various other coins and make sure that one of them will be a privacy coins. Regarding the options you showed:

Monero
Zcash
ZenCash
Verge
Cloak

Zcash is by far the most superior privacy centered currency out there right now, it uses an innovative technique called zsnarks which has raised praised by the best in the industry. Even Vitalik Butterin, the genious and founder behind Ethereum wants to implement zsnarks in the Ethereum protocol, what does this tell you? It tells you that the technology is superior to other privacy centered coins, as Ethereum itself is looking to implement privacy in its transactions. The team as well behind Zcash is awesome and there are many academics who know what they're doing, besides that Zcash is the highest valued coin in the market (in terms of market cap) which additionally shows you that it's superior to the rest.
