This release introduce the cryptonight_v8 POW of the upcoming Monero fork on 18th Oct 2018. Use the currency setting monero for automatic switching on the next fork.

Xmr-stak supports all CUDA devices form the last 8 years (Fermi, Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal, Volta, Turing).
You can now use with AMD Rocm 1.9.X.

Config files from 2.4.X are NOT compatible to this release.

A special thank you goes to @SChernykh for his great help with the new Monero POW algorithm and all the optimizations he provided.

We would like to thank the community for their tests and contributions to xmr-stak.

I have this message me too. I think it's a problem with systemd name resolution. I looked from /etc/resolv.conf file and an explanation is given about that.
But i don't understand how their new name resolution works.

If someone can explain in few words what ubuntu changed in their 18.04 LTS about DNS, you are welcome.

btw trying to mine ETH with my 13x1080
somehow it generate lots of video noise and freezes this rig up.
Is anyone has similar problem and how to fix it?

Beauty of GPU mining is that you can mine whatever algo is currently profitable.
ASIC's story is different - it can mine only one and if you extremely lucky it will reach break even.
From my personal experience, most likely ASIC investment will end up with loss
 Undecided

I understand but i think all GPU rigs are not profitable since begenning of september 2018 or before. ANd if each algo become ASIC compatible, GPU minning will die soon. For sure.

GPU minnin don't become more profitable because ASIC minng isn't profitable.

ALl GPU rigs with 1080 Ti cards are not profitables anymore. So GPU rigs with GPu under theses 1080, are not too.

Execpt if you don't pay your électricity that become more and more costly because of ecologist renewables that are paid by consummers and tax payers.

Another algorithm will toogle to ASIC minning :-(

https://www.asicminervalue.com/miners/dayun/zig-z1

There is not a month that passes without the minning of a new algo is compatible with ASICS chips.

Here are some more corners that will go into the ASICS section of WTM:

The end of LYRA2ReV2 GPU mining ?

I think So.

Since three months each algo become ASIC compatible...

I returned to cryptonightV7 because i think, it's the only GPU mining coins that are yet profitables.

All GPUs prices will down soon, for sure.

I have mined 5 MONA, and i will HODL them, but i think their value will decrease when the asics will start to mine on the network.  Undecided Huh

I have this error when I want to mine XMR:

Code:
/home/m1/NVOC/mining/0miner: line 159: xmr-stak_VERSION: bad substitution
/home/m1/NVOC/mining/0miner: line 179: xmr-stak_VERSION: bad substitution

Are you sure you used the correct name? because the variable is pointed to "xmr-stak_VERSION" but it should be "XMR_Stak_VERSION"

Ok, i tried again with you code and finally, it's Ok.

But i had this code for memory huge page like this :

Quote
## CRYPTONIGHTV7
elif | $ALGO == CRYPTONIGHTHEAVY ;
then
# Large memory page support
sudo sysctl -w vm.nr_hugepages=128

# Remove nvidia.txt if cards count changed
  if [ -f ~/nvidia.txt ]
  then
    if [ "$(grep -c "// gpu:" ~/nvidia.txt)" != "$(nvidia-smi -i 0 --query-gpu=count --format=csv,noheader,nounits)" ]
    then
      rm ~/nvidia.txt
    fi
  fi
# Change verbosity to show hashrate in output log
  if [ -f ~/config.txt ]
  then
    if grep -q '"verbose_level" : 3' ~/config.txt
    then
      sed -i 's/"verbose_level" : 3/"verbose_level" : 4/g' ~/config.txt
    fi
  fi
  if $ALGO == "CRYPTONIGHTV7"

  then
    UCCALGO="--currency monero7"
  elif $ALGO == "CRYPTONIGHTHEAVY"
  then
    UCCALGO="-a cryptonight-heavy"
  fi
   HCD=${NVOC}/miners/XMR_Stak/"${!xversion}"/xmr-stak
  eval $LAUNCH $HCD  $UCCALGO --noCPU --noAMD -o "${!xpool}":"${!xport}" -u "${!xaddr}" -p "$MINER_PWD" -i 0

Yes, i corrected this Name With uppercase like you suggested, but i had the same error.

But if i look here :
Code:

i don't see any XMR_Stak_VERSION like others minning softwares !

I have several problems with xmr-stak 2.4.7 on CUDA 9.2

1- That code only works from within the script, if you run it individually the variable will not be recognized

2- Input for compiling xmr-stak is X (uppercase x) not x

3- I dont have much experience with xmr-stak to help with. You may ask in their from for the parameters and add them to:
Code:
XMR_EXTENSION_ARGUMENTS=""

Or let us know if it needs some adjustments in 0miner.

4- There is already a miner password in 1bash what other passwords you are looking for?
Code:
MINER_PWD="x"                                    # Set the miner password. Default: x

1/ I think your variable
Code:
"${!xversion}"/
is not functionnal like the error message returned to me (line 159 and 179). I modified like i wrote and when i launch the miner with your code (startup machine,  and/or starting console) it works with my code.

2/ Ok, i noticed it. But i finally recompiled it me myself by downloading the source from their GITHUB. It was very long to compile the two cuda backend.

3/I think the -r options to define name of the rig will be a good solution in this extension arguments. I will test it. Because without this,i experienced that xmr-stak ask to press enter at startup

4/ supportxmr pool give us possibility to add options in password option. they create and account to modify minimum payout if you put your email address as password.
Because i will mine only xmr, it's not a problem for me, but if someone want to mine with profit switching on supportxmr instead of nanopool it can't modify his password that is often "x" (lowercase)

Another problem with xmr-stak is to define largest memory page before starting minning software with the command :
Code:
sudo sysctl -w vm.nr_hugepages=128

I added it in cryptonight section on 0miner file

and modifying this file : /etc/security/limits.conf  like developers explained in the config.txt file.

* LARGE PAGE SUPPORT
 * Large pages need a properly set up OS. It can be difficult if you are not used to systems administration,
 * but the performance results are worth the trouble - you will get around 20% boost. Slow memory mode is
 * meant as a backup, you won't get stellar results there. If you are running into trouble, especially
 * on Windows, please read the common issues in the README.
 *
 * By default we will try to allocate large pages. This means you need to "Run As Administrator" on Windows.
 * You need to edit your system's group policies to enable locking large pages. Here are the steps from MSDN
 *
 * 1. On the Start menu, click Run. In the Open box, type gpedit.msc.
 * 2. On the Local Group Policy Editor console, expand Computer Configuration, and then expand Windows Settings.
 * 3. Expand Security Settings, and then expand Local Policies.
 * 4. Select the User Rights Assignment folder.
 * 5. The policies will be displayed in the details pane.
 * 6. In the pane, double-click Lock pages in memory.
 * 7. In the Local Security Setting – Lock pages in memory dialog box, click Add User or Group.
 * 8. In the Select Users, Service Accounts, or Groups dialog box, add an account that you will run the miner on
 * 9. Reboot for change to take effect.
 *
 * Windows also tends to fragment memory a lot. If you are running on a system with 4-8GB of RAM you might need
 * to switch off all the auto-start applications and reboot to have a large enough chunk of contiguous memory.
 *
 * On Linux you will need to configure large page support "sudo sysctl -w vm.nr_hugepages=128" and increase your
 * ulimit -l. To do do this you need to add following lines to /etc/security/limits.conf - "* soft memlock 262144"
 * and "* hard memlock 262144". You can also do it Windows-style and simply run-as-root, but this is NOT
 * recommended for security reasons.
 *
 * Memory locking means that the kernel can't swap out the page to disk - something that is unlikely to happen on a
 * command line system that isn't starved of memory. I haven't observed any difference on a CLI Linux system between
 * locked and unlocked memory. If that is your setup see option "no_mlck".

Ok, for this point 5. Choosed current profit instead of current revenue. If the script launch the most profitable coin every 12 min but show them in disarray, i'm agree whith that. I just want to be sure that this display will not affect the choice of more profitable coin to mine at this check. I do not yet verified me myself

What about my problem with xmr-stak ?

/home/m1/NVOC/mining/0miner: line 159: xmr-stak_VERSION: bad substitution
/home/m1/NVOC/mining/0miner: line 179: xmr-stak_VERSION: bad substitution

If you set both sorts with current rev or profit and current difficulty, it should sort them correctly, if not post the output and your url to check.

I think xmr-stak name changed to XMR_Stak in latest 1bash, check the "Available builtin miners" for miner names

I have several problems with xmr-stak 2.4.7 on CUDA 9.2

1/ There is a problem with this commande line :
Code:
HCD=${NVOC}/miners/XMR_Stak/"${!xversion}"/xmr-stak
For testing, i replaced it by :
Code:
HCD="/home/m1/NVOC/mining/miners/XMR_Stak/2.4.7/xmr-stak"

And after this modification i saw the command line displayed on the terminal 3main window that laucnh all the scripts

I think the problem that i reported before is because the variable
Code:
"${!xversion}"
is not retrieved elsewhere in the script for xmr-stak only

2/ I tried to launch miner in the xmr-stak directory but this software impératively needs to be recompiled like this usual error message can make him think :
Code:
~/NVOC/mining/miners/XMR_Stak/2.4.7$ ./xmr-stak
Illegal instruction

So i tried to use miners update script like this

Quote
~/NVOC/mining/miners$ ./nvOC_miner_update.sh

I know how to decompress a file "tar.gz", but I'm a little less practicing files "tar.xz" also I do not know how to recompile xmr-stak and update the script of update of the software of mining written by papampi

In addition, I know it's probably a bit more complicated than previous versions of NVOC since there are now two versions of CUDA installed on the system.

Please Help !

3/ Problem with XMR pool choice

You all know as well as me that as minor as it is better to have several pools of handning the most balanced possible, but now NVOC, if I use XMR-STAK (which I think that is the best for this algorithm) , I can't mine on another pool than nanopool pool.
This concentrates mining hasrate on nanopool and limits the possibilities for miners. Can you modify this in the 0miner others scripts ?

The default pool is nanopool and I would like to try to mine on supportxmr.com (http://Https://www.supportxmr.com/#/help/getting_started) but the parameters are not arranged in the same way on supportxmr.com pool...
I think I'm not the only one who wants to mine on this other pool which is still the second largest after nanopool (100 to 115 MH/s on average compared to 160 to 190 MH/s on nanopool)

Also, The payout is lower at 0.3 XMR, and i thonk it's a better minimum payout in view of the increase in the difficulty of mining monero.
Otherwise, miner is monopolized for at least 1 month and may even be more only for monero minning.

Translated from French with Google translation

Would it be possible to revise this part of the script to put a Password variable (-p) in the 1bash file?

Translated from French with Google translation

Note : i have some time this weekedn, so i can make some tests with your propositions. PM me if its necessary.

Note 5: I observed that WTM_Switching no longer sorts the values retrieved from the WTM website in decreasing order. In addition, the displayed values do not indicate profitability but income since the values are positive whereas they should be negative as on the WTM website.

Check your WTM URL
That usually happens when you sort not by current revenue and difficulty

Ok, for this point 5. Choosed current profit instead of current revenue. If the script launch the most profitable coin every 12 min but show them in disarray, i'm agree whith that. I just want to be sure that this display will not affect the choice of more profitable coin to mine at this check. I do not yet verified me myself

What about my problem with xmr-stak ?

nvOC_19-2.1 beta Ubuntu 18.04 Dual-Cuda Nvidia 396 2018-09-07

- Ubuntu 18.04.1 with latest updates and patches
- Dual Cuda support with Cuda 9.2 and 8 pre installed
- Disabled ubuntu splash screen to show kernel message
- All the latest miners
- bminer dual mining support
- CryptoDredge miner
- New Hot temp shutdown
- Fix bugs in WTM Switcher
- New Coins and Algos
- Bug fixes
- So many new additions and improvements.

- With so many changes, its recommended to use new 1bash.
- Recompile miners may have some problems due to changes in ubuntu 18.04.
- Telegram not working due to Ubuntu 18.04 moved to libcurl4, but many miners depend on libcurl3

As always extract the compressed file, flash your SSD/USB with the extracted img file
Open small fat partition and read the README
Download latest  1bash.template
Edit 1bash.template and save it as 1bash

Notice: Do NOT remove 1bash.template from /NVOC/mining, copy and rename new one if needed

Edit firstboot.json to enable/disable auto_expand. ("true" or "false")
recompile miners on first boot ("false" for no recompile, "A" for all, The letter/number associated to each recompilable miner depends on the latest nvOC_miner_update.sh script you find in the nvOC_miners repository on GitHub)
Auto recompile may take long time to download and recompile all miners.

On first boot, firstboot gnome-terminal profile will expand partition to full size, after reboot it will add latest nvOC and miners from GitHub repo.
firstboot gnome-terminal will stop and open mining gnome-terminal profile.
May reboot again if xorg.conf needs update.

This new version (DUAL CUDA) works for me except for MONERO (XMR) with xmr-stak.

I have this error when I want to mine XMR:
Quote
/home/m1/NVOC/mining/0miner: line 159: xmr-stak_VERSION: bad substitution
/home/m1/NVOC/mining/0miner: line 179: xmr-stak_VERSION: bad substitution

Note: I installed RealVNC for a local remote control in place of Teamviwer that I can not use anymore, but I saw by looking in the menus of the new version of ubuntu that other software have been added, notably SSHVNC (i don't know if this software is user friendly).

Note 2: I stopped the miner for about 2 weeks because we are in the negative profitability. By testing this new papampi's version proposed, I just wanted to prepare to restart as soon as the profitability becomes acceptable. If this profitability does not return in the positive, then I will rekindle the miner this winter when it will be cold to heat my apartment to the place of my radiating electric convectors. This will not be long since the night temperatures begin to fall below 10 degrees Celsius for a few days.

Note 3: I had to redo my 1bash file from zero because I tried to use kdiff3 to easily get the values of my old 1bash file and the control of this file by the scripts told me that my 1bash file was wrong .
Have you considered using a PHP or HTML script that would easily generate this 1bash file faster via a web browser?

Note 4: I also reinstated my minerinfo file that I had tinkered in older versions. Everything works well with him.

Note 5: I observed that WTM_Switching no longer sorts the values retrieved from the WTM website in decreasing order. In addition, the displayed values do not indicate profitability but income since the values are positive whereas they should be negative as on the WTM website.

I can see this message on MPH WebPage :

Quote
"- Ethereum block height passed 6000000. If you are using old version of claymore your mining would be stopped due to epoch error. Please update to latest version. Claymore miner

I think nvOC miners needs to be updated with Claymore v11.9 (For those are using this miner software)

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1433925.0

EDIT : Those who had update to nvOC 19.2.1 have Claymore v11.9. Sorry for this useless alert if you updated

I see that scripts now update themselves from the start of the terminal at logon. It's a good thing, but I'd like it to be easier to update the bash file 1 anyway.

Would you have an order that would allow me to recover the maximum value of the old 1bash without touching the new settings added because it makes me tired to redo this file each time. The Diff command can be?

I also find that minerinfo does not work properly because it lacks some information that is not displayed when loading the page. In the script there are a lot more values than what I see in my navifgator.

I already have some errors on ASccminer and KTccminer. it seems that Klaust post a cuda 9 (8.21) version but it can disabled by editing the makefile like i post a few page ago. the KTccminer in nvOC_miners repository is outdated (8.20).

No, and its just for NICE_ETHASH.

Bminer is the best miner for ethash, but not for ethash on nicehash.
I made some tests and i discovered on the web and on my RIG that claymore is better for NICE_ETASH.

No pb with ETC or ETH on mininpoolhub with bminer, but bminer relaunch dag every 10-15 minutes on NICE_ETASH. It's a real problem.

@Luckpicci, is it possible to mine ethash on nicehash only with Claymore and other ethash coins with Bminer ?

Edit firstboot.json to enable/disable auto_expand and recompile miners on first boot. ("true" or "false")
You can set auto_expand to "true" or "false" depending on your choice, while recompile_miners can be either "false" if you do not intend to let any miner be recompiled during first image boot, or a list of miners do you want to recompile, written in the same way as you are used to do with the nvOC_update_miner.sh. For exampt recompile_miners:"7 U" will recompile TPccminer(7) and SUPPRminer(U), recompile_miners:"A" will recompile all(A) miners. The letter/number associated to each recompilable miner depends on the latest nvOC_miner_update.sh script you find in the nvOC_miners repository on GitHub.

Exactly, enter the nvOC_Miner_Update.sh script choice menu in the readme because I was caught in a loop that asked me to choose at first boot.

I VOLUNTARILY chose to recompile ALL of the software on my machine to check if the mining software update script runs well and does the job properly.

On the other hand, it seems that there are problems to clone and compile some mining software. I copied below extracts from the log displayed in terminal console that is displayed after reboot.

Would it be possible to have the compilation results in a log file specifically for this recompilation of mining software?

Is there a functional check or operational check of all mining software after automated recompilation?

The recompilations of all the software took about 1h15 on my machine, but it is also necessary to know that some recompliations have aborted and that the software is not operational.
On wet finger, I think it should warn the user that the recompilation of all minning software will take about 90 to 120 minutes

When the recompilations are completed, it starts again in a loop by dragging the choice by interaction with the user.
If I close and restart the console, then it resumes the synchonization of the papampi gihub nvOC_Miners repository.

Same thing if I restart the system.

nvOC V19-2.1 beta Ubuntu-16.04 Nvidia-390 2018.07.07

-Complete new first boot process (Thanks to LukePicci)
-New additions and bug fixes

Extract the zip, flash your SSD/USB with the extracted img file
Open small fat partition.
Edit 1bash.template and save it as 1bash

40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvOC 19-2.1 beta testing on: June 30, 2018, 06:55:19 PM
Updated guide: Test/Run nvOC 19-2.1 beta side-by-side with 19-2.0 on previous stable images.
from an edit of the previous original @papampi guide to include the new easy-to-use upgrade commands

Side-bv-side beta testing with this guide is only possible if you can edit gnome-terminal profiles, by either gui settings (via TeamViewer) or dconf.(via ssh)

Step 1:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/papampi/nvOC_by_fullzero_Community_Release.git /home/m1/NVOC/testing
cd /home/m1/NVOC/testing
bash nvOC miners-upgrade
cp 1bash.template 1bash
Edit your new 1bash you find in :
Code:
/home/m1/NVOC/testing/1bash

Step 2:
Create new gnome-terminal profile and start up command:

gnome-terminal menus: Edit > Preferences > Profiles > Clone the existing 'mining' profile and edit the clone.

Rename the cloned mining profile to "testing" or whatever you like.

In 2nd tab from left, "Command" change 2unix path in custom command.

from :
Code:
/home/m1/2unix
to:
Code:
/home/m1/NVOC/testing/2unix

Choose the default "Profile used when launching ..." to the one you made.

Step 3:
It's better to reboot, to start fresh.
After reboot gnome-terminal will start with the new testing profile.

Switch back to 2.0:
To switch back to 19-2.0 stable just change the default "Profile used when launching ..." in gnome-terminal profiles again to 'mining' and you're done.

Update nvOC to latest commit:

Code:
cd /home/m1/NVOC/testing
bash nvOC upgrade

In case you're still on old revisions where that command was not yet available, do instead:
Code:
cd /home/m1/NVOC/testing
git stash && git pull

Update nvOC/miners to latest commit:

Code:
cd /home/m1/NVOC/testing/
bash nvOC miners-upgrade

Always keep a copy of your 1bash (old, new, beta, ....) in a safe place.
Please post your issues and found bugs here in bitcointalk forum or (better to avoid messing with people using the stable 2.0) in GitHub issues.
Always attach a report generated by:
Code:
bash nvOC report

List of all contributions is available on top of each script (dev log)

So, is it possible to folow this guide using git sync when i use 19.2.1 image if i use all the comands in NVOC\minning insteaf of NVOC\testing ?
