Bitcoin payment processing startup OpenNode has rejected a $1.5 million investment gesture made by Roger Ver. The company, which exclusively supports the Bitcoin payment protocol, confirmed that its vision of a better and more open financial system could not be achieved with Bitcoin Cash, adding that it would spend 100% of its resources on Bitcoin and its second-layer payment solutions instead. No amount of money will make us service inferior money. https://t.co/unBoSX2zpZ — Rui Gomes (@ruigomeseu) December 30, 2018OpenNode aims to process bitcoin transactions in real-time to boost the digital currency’s adoption among enterprises and businesses. It supports Lightning Network, a second-layer payment protocol launched to confirm Bitcoin transactions away from the main chain. The efforts led OpenNode to raise $1.5 million in seed funding from investor Tim Draper. Read more: https://www.ccn.com/no-to-bitcoin-cash-opennode-rejects-roger-vers-1-25m-fund-offer/

Happy New Year! Maligayang Bagong Taon!
Didn't see any fireworks and didn't light my firecrackers last night because of the rain, was just drinking, socializing and karaoke.

i personally think $300k-$500k is possible, closer to 2021 based on previous cycle magnitude and the timing around halvings.
6 digits won't be impossible, if BTC will surpass the marketcap of gold. People may treat BTC as a currency, used for everyday exchange, buying anything on any local or online stores, but for me: it's a store of value, a new era of stock market. You can't buy a pizza with BTC yet, especially when there is a long line waiting on the counter. Amazon won't accept it too because of its volatile nature, businesses would have a heart attack with the sudden up and down of the price if they accept it. @OP, what about Jamie Dimon and Warren Buffet? I never heard anything from them this 2018, I wonder why they became silent.

I hope the New Year's Eve will change, it seems like I am too much daydreaming so I also hope the altcoin can go up even if only for a short time.
This coming holiday, people are willing to spend money just to celebrate new year's eve. There will be foods, drinking, and fireworks. I'm pretty sure that you wanted to spend money, fireworks maybe. Let's not be shortsighted here, let's wish for more, for the long term, wish for exponential increase. Wish for 1 BTC=10 lambos or 1 ETH=1 lambo.Does anyone think the same as me? There are three types of people who are into cryptocurrencies: 1. crypto-believers (waiting for the day that cryptos can be used as a medium on any store or waiting for it to be the new generation store of value) 2. crypto-traders (just to multiply their wealth) 3. crypto-enthusiast-wannabe (exchanging their cryptos to fiat immediately) Nope, I'm a believer.

"There are only two things certain in life: death and taxes" - Benjamin Franklin Kung ang sistema ng ating mundo ay magiging katulad sa "vision" ni Karl Marx, doon lang mawawala ang tax.

- nobody will ever get interested to check someones sig Let me be honest with you. For about a year of my existence on this forum, only Vod and digaran's signature caught my attention. If only theymos would get rid of the ICO Ann bounty, no more signatures for them and no more posting of social media links, the problem with spam could've been solved.

There will be a hardfork on ethereum this coming January 14-18. There will be no split. It's just an update/upgrade. Be careful when someone asks for your wallet. EDIT: No free coins on Constantinople hard fork! My attention is on Constantinople and it made me unconscious about another's vision. EDIT(January 19, 2019, 03:53:52 PM) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5091221.msg49315850#msg49315850

it's not too late to buy, please buy ETH as best you can and save it in your wallet, later when hardfork is close, there will be a lot of information born.
Dude, please, be more constructive when you post and read the topic carefully. @OP, I never knew that there will be an upcoming fork. This might be the reason why ETH maintained its value at $100-150, who knows, it might go up to $200 again. I will reiterate what damberg have said. According to coindesk; "the developers assembled agreed on block 7,080,000 on the ethereum blockchain as an activation point at which users would be able to elect to upgrade to the new code. Put simply, should users choose to accept the change by upgrading their software, the update would go live when the block is mined.
According to estimates by release manager for the Parity Ethereum client, Afri Schoedon, this means Constantinople is expected to go live between January 14 and 18."SourceEDIT: @OP; in this update, ETH holders will not receive any additional coins. so buying for some kind of free distribution it is very bad idea
There is no split, it's just an upgrade. The ETH "proof-of-stake" might be near.

How exactly is cash becoming a thing of the past?
Give it 10 or more years and paper money/fiat/physical money will no longer be in circulation on a single country. If you're aware about other countries using a card as payment system on train stations, bus rides or any local public utility vehicles, other stores stores might make their own payment system. Imagine your local 7/11 store have their own re-loadable card, only your bank account is needed when adding funds to that card.

Of all the speculators who claim that they have a magic crystal ball, cointelegraph made an article about all of the predictions made this 2018. And Todd Gordon speculated that the price can drop to $4000. It wasn't the exact amount, but it's close enough. "Almost six months before the “crypto winter,” when most of the enthusiasts still maintained high-rate forecasts, Todd Gordon from TradingAnalysis.com clearly predicted Bitcoin's drop to $4,000. Moreover, the coin has recently even dipped below $3,500.
However, the second part of his prediction is still unclear. Will Bitcoin recover in 2019 and surpass the $10,000 mark yet again? Only time will tell."SourceThere's a second part on Gordon's prediction and that's for 2019.
