Ive seen that NEO has been a great option for generating GAS

I still like the 1080ti's over these though...not sure why people are buying these up. Do they just do really well on ETH?

Supply and demand is really all it comes down to. People are willing to pay over $8,000 therefore that's how much it is worth....

The only things with Bitcoin that can be "hacked" are entities that interact with the blockchain i.e. exchanges, wallet apps etc. So the point of failure is always some 3rd party entity. Now, the actual blockchain cryptography could theoretically be hacked by some sort of quantum computing mechanism, but we're still a looooong way away from anything like that being possible, and solutions are being worked on currently as well for that eventuality

Never short Bitcoin! This winter/early spring will be the most bullish time for Bitcoin in years. Short at your own peril!

Bitcoin is more liquid! It's actually an international and universal unit of exchange. There is no currency conversion needed across borders, 1 BTC is 1 BTC everywhere. So it actually has a great many benefits and features that "real" money just doesn't have.

ETC is kept around because mining is profitable. Nobody's building relevant dApps on it, or using it for anything

...because the herd of institutional investors has not yet arrived!

Neo has a bright future. They have a chance to be the second biggest smart contract platform next to ETH (if they aren't already) and one day might surpass ETH. China is a giant market. do not discount it.

I think most people are, rightly so, just hodling right now. It's very hard to actually buy goods and services with BTC, even still, so most people are using it as an appreciating asset to hold onto

Think rural and far away from population centers. I know some places where people are getting 0.05/kwh and even lower just by being in places where nobody lives. Decreased demand equals decreased prices

Ethereum just has the head start and the main developer share. Waves is very good in its own right, and its time will come.

It absolutely is the new era of currency. I don't think we yet fully realize exactly how much this tech is going to change the world. It's only just getting started.

For the big boy crypto's, Coinbase/GDAX is the only go-to. Plus they're the main fiat on-ramp, so it's a win-win to me.

Just wait until 2018! 2017 is just the first step towards broader market adoption. 2018 will be where the rubber really hits the road!

Mining support, huge network effect, and a vast mindshare of the current blockchain developer pool. It's got a huge network effect in its own way, as far as smart contract blockchain platforms go.

The transaction costs, and the most fundamental flaw endemic to the system is the 51% attack. You would hope the network is decentralized to a point that a 51% attack is not necessarily feasible, but it is technically possible, which will always be a fundamental flaw.

MEW is the best! Just be very very careful that you're not visiting one of the many scam sites out there. Always check and double-check your URL, and make sure the security certificate is there.

The privacy coins are the biggest competitor for Bitcoin. Some people like Bitcoin because they see it as being somehow anonymous, or untraceable. Once it becomes widely understood that it's not private, by even novices to the ecosystem, then interest will move towards the privacy coins for that reason.

Remember, BCH can never replace BTC, because BCH is altcoin!Unfortunately, the S2X doesn't work well.I don't even know why BCH is going up so quickly that I can't understand it.This is an injury to bitcoin.
I also strongly agree that BCH will not replace BTC because BTC is too strong in the world of cryptocurrency. at the end of this year [Suspicious link removed] will be very strong in price and BCH will always be below BTC. Let me list my predictions for BTC and BCH for end of year: BTC, fiat price: $8,200. BCH, fiat price: $750. BCH/BTC price: 0.09. The fair price would be one tenth of bitcoin, for bitcoin cash or whatever it is. This is basically the conclusion that I've come to. I can see this happening and I think it's probably the most likely scenario
