21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it the beginning of the end of bitcoin ? on: March 26, 2018, 11:21:10 PM
It's sometime amazing to see how short term our memory can be. Not trying to bash the person who started this thread as this is somewhat a common questions among the people who are not much familiar with Crypto. I recently had similar discussion in casino with few folks and a dealer.

How can someone think or assume it is end of BTC or crypto when it is selling for above $8K with daily volume of $5B+. Not so long ago (NEWS FLASH -- only 5 months ago), it was under  half this value.

A entity that has no govt backing is being sold for 8K a piece and in not 1000 or 2000 people buying /selling it. This number is much much higher. With the amount of negative media out there, a multi billion dollar companies stock with be selling in pennies by now however BTC has strong support for twice the value it was only 5 months ago. If you look back bit further in past, present value is 5x or more of its 1 year historical price.

I sincerely hope media gets some sense and stop looking at every news with light of absolutely negativity first. If you look at every major new (South Korea for example), the first news is South Korea is banning Cryopto. Fews day down the real news is that South Korea is going to ask people trading crpto to pay taxes. What is wrong with that news as every country would expect that (US does it from many years already). This to me actually makes Cryto trading legal and should be treated as good new and not the bad news...

Update from XP team on Discord (Disclaimer : I am part of  XP official team).

Dr. D. - Last Wednesday at 6:18 PM
XP Global Onboarding

We have structured the XP team during the month of February and added several new people. We have a legal advisor on board, a financial advisor, and several other staff members have joined. A fully functional international game team has been created and will be expanded over time. There are 6 leads in this department (1 Australian, 2 American, 1 Korean and 1 Japanese). They all report directly to Dr. D. and will be in charge of creating community events (game related), running and moderating servers and advising on game integrations.
Due to the increase interest in India, we are looking into setting up an Indian community. This is not official yet and is still being discussed and evaluated.
More communication positions are looked into to ensure correct and fluent communication between all teams and communities. At this point Dr. D. is the main point of contact for the community issues and team related questions.
Our biggest communities (XP JP and XP KR) have been given their own VPS to work on. This will make sure they have the resources to develop and support XP in their own ways too.
Support Desk

At this point Support is busy with optimizing their helpdesk. Support tickets can be logged through some of our applications (Webwallet/Website) and are processed. The exact backend software being used isn’t 100% set up, but for the inquiries it should already improve. This will continuously be updated over time, but for the end user nothing majorly will change or be visible
24  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin continue to fall to $ 6,000$-5,000$??? on: February 02, 2018, 03:04:59 PM
The only true long term value that has been established for BTC is 1k per BTC. If you've actually been involved more than like 6 months you can easily see that. It spiked up to around 1200 way back in 2013 or 2014 I forget the exact period, then crashed hard on bad press (mainly the Mt Gox incident and unfavorable news from China.) Then it took a long time to restabilize at 1k and essentially stayed there before rocketing up to 10k, then 19k in a matter of a few months last year.

Be careful, all the people trying to invent all these BS price supports are mainly bag holders who bought at or around 10k. The reality is the only price that it has really stayed at in recent years is right around the $1k USD mark.

Personally I wish 10k or more would become the new stable bottom but there is not really any legitimate evidence to say it will, aside from very loose technical indicators that any real trader can tell you are not truly reliable methods just like with the stock market.

Where did you come up with this magical number of 1K=1 BTC? It will not worth mining at this cost to sustain mining operation even with cheap electricity. Mind disclosing source of this info?
25  Economy / Speculation / Re: If it's all just FUD, then... on: January 31, 2018, 01:57:20 AM
So it's no secret that the market and bitcoin included have been crashing in the last couple weeks, hitting a low around 9k and then lingering around 10k and now looking to retest that bottom again. It seems like it's been bad news after bad news and then a lot of FUD around that. Here's what I don't get.

If we buy in to the logic that at these prices only the weak hands should sell out of fear, because the price is so low and a recovery is bound to come along, then surely there is only a finite number of these people that are willing to sell at such 'low' prices. You would assume that most people with a willingness to sell around 10k would have already done so, so why do we keep having more and more people selling and pushing the price down?

Very valid and puzzling question however people's trust in Crypto is still very very weak. This is specially true for most of the people who know very little and mostly invested due to all the new and hype in late 2017. The FUDs are not helping either and end result will be a lot of these newbie will lose their money and feed more fire to this FUD. The market is sure to go up however as no one as good answer or reason why, these newbie are loosing patience (and may be worried what if they loose more).

We need a few good news to pump the gas in right direction and once that happen people will jump the boat again to start buying.

The biggest challenge I see is the reports and new media posting what ever they can make out of it. I am big fan of NPR however was thoroughly disappointed by their recent article which had real information about why Crypto market has crashed. These media outlets are spreading more fear and know almost nothing about what the reality is. That is scaring new investors who will wait until these same media people start speculating next price gain shortly (again without any info).

27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ban New altcoins on: January 22, 2018, 03:10:30 PM
While I agree something needs to be done here, I don't think banning is neither an solution nor it is aligned to core concept of Crypto (more like an Oxymoron).

While the idea of no restriction sounds cool in the beginning, I am hoping you all agree that it is not sustainable. The options are either Govt/Authorities would come in and throw some restrictions regulations around or  community comes in together and come up with some ground rules. If there is an external regulation, it is hard to say how it is going to turn out to as it is mostly people with no clue writing the regulations.

The best case is for Crypto community to come up with some basic guidelines. Crypto Community need to take a hard look at present practices and cut down on the one's that is really hurting. One such practice is how the marketing of new coins are being done. It is sad to see senior members praising a new coin only to get air drop or other similar options benefiting them. The new comers sees their comments and starts to believe in cost and throw thier hard earned money. How long do we think this can continue before common people start thinking every currency as scam?

I see coins having no info on the page, no dev presence or not even a good purpose to show case why this coin is going to make any difference. The next thing I see is because there is a marketing campaign, everyone is praising the coin. Few weeks down, no one knows where the coin or Dev is. There s strong need for self governance and lay down some rule such as (these are just my suggestion and actual rules may not be same):

Some basic aspects are up and published before coin is launched (things such as wallet, web page, Block explore, Dev info, purpose  and what is different in this coin then 10K other floating coin:-))
There should be a phase where the coin is developed and then launch. Exchange listing, ICO info if applicable should all be listed in Dev phase and good time frame for launch. This time gap would ensure people have time to analyze and also show Dev commitment over time.

I am sure you all will come up with more rule around it....

Bottom line, either we take control or someone else will. In case of later, there is no saying how it is going to be turn out to be...

People should learn, coins that start at 5 or 6 sats and go to 30 they should sell out, I shilled this coin to the end, not due to the dev all because I wanted profit. I got 6x and am out

Simple as buying low sell high and wait for the correction to buy low again. People should learn this and not hold forever because you lose a lot of potential profits.

I couldn't agree more with what what you're saying here, sometimes, people miss out on a lot of opportunities because they tend to hold while the price is mooning, for me if you can get 50-100% profit then you should sell half or 70% of your porfolio but that's just me though it really depends on the person who's trading, I'm still a new trader but I always like to be safe than sorry, it's never fun to be too greedy so while the price is up sell and when it bounces back down then better buy and hold then sell again when the price goes to another all time high, I think the problem with most new traders are they tend to buy tokens when it's mooning which is the worst time to buy, wait for the price to stable and decrease its value then collect more. If the value is not decreasing then just wait, trading requires patience so wait because if you buy while its mooning you'll end up losing a lot.

--------

While this logic is sound not sure if this apply to all the scenarios. Sometime you need to take risk to gain more. Higher the risk, higher the reward. Following the above logic (of taking profit early), I ended up selling 10% of my XP holding 2-3 weeks ago when it went over 0.0001 and regretting that as my money (of that sell) would have been 5-6 times more.

While I may be shown as newbie here, I am not that new to Crypto. I see crypto-currencies with absolutely no information on websites (sometime even website being down for days and weeks) trading close to dollar or higher. With XP, Most of my friend who are new to concept of Crypto ask me what will these things do.

I am bit disappointed to see  people calling it pump and dump without much backing of why? I see this coin as real life application. On top there is a heavily engaged team and great website with road map. When the master-node it launched it is hard to even speculate how high this can go.

I am sure people who sold their BTC for something like a Pizza would agree with me :-)

People suggesting this a pump and dump has any logical explanation of that accusation? Please enlighten us as well...

Hi All,

Need help with setting up Masternode. I have been unsuccessfully trying to setup a Master node have tried both a machine in home network as well as on cloud. The place where I get stuck is at command Masternode outputs which comes back blank (2 brackets).

I checked for IP and port access etc but no luck. I am following instructions at https://github.com/ddude1/Xios/wiki/Xios-Masternode-Windows.

Any one has seen similar issues?

Any help any one???

Hi Guys,

Newbie here and looking for some guidance. I found this coin to be interesting and decided to buy for staking. I did try clicking on link for Direct buy from XPCoin.io however it does not seem that link is working and hence decide to buy from Nova Exchange. Post doing the transaction I am not sure if I got the right price or if there is way to get it from either of the exchange.

If I look at coin market Cap, the last trade cost is showing as $0.000006 (or $0.000002 as well some time) however the minimum amount you get to put as buy request in exchange using BTC is 0.00000001 which seems roughly 10 times more then dollar price. So I am wondering where and how to buy it at dollar price or in BTC but equivalent to dollar price as I am feeling I paid too much?

Thank you folks for warning about Yobit. I saw another post as well just before I was about to trasfer BTC to buy NTRN. Any help as what is reliable exchange to buy NTRN? Looks like Bitrex discontinued it. Any one have used www.cryptopia.co.nz? I can not find any other exchange where it is being traded?
