Your plan seems like a great idea Barwizi!

I also like the part about merging some dying coins, but only if the value of NRB 2.0 is something like 85% NRB + 15% total of other coins. Anything higher than that and we'll be diluting all the hard work we did mining NRB until now with a few people who bought a crap-ton of dying coins at ridiculously cheap price in my opinion.

Would you guys support joining forces with 10 other coins and changing the algo?

What would this "joining forces" imply for Noirbit? Is there only positive that could possibly come out of it or is there a drawback of some kind?
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Black Watch // NOIRBITS RE-VAMP THREAD!!!!!! (OP MANAGED) on: December 19, 2013, 02:44:07 AM
So, any update on the new client? Or the official forum for that matter?
24  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: December 10, 2013, 02:00:45 AM
Maybe they purchase in big quantities and don't want to go through multiple buyers (and maybe get a slight discount from LabRat for the quantity).

[Long-ass explanation]

Damn, that's quite the plan for Noirtoken, and Noirbit in general. I can't wait to see all this unfold!   Grin

Have you heard of the DAC concept being applied to Protoshares and Bitshares? How would you like NRB being used as shares in Noirbank? Instead of shareholders buying shares From a central point, you can earn your own. This puts a lot of control in the hands of the community. I had intended this to be an all out community managed project but it didn't work. But if the community has heavy influence like that then maybe it's a better model.

[...]

As for Noirtokens and the Physical NRB, those will wait until i have met at least two of the above objectives.

I'm confused by these statements. If NRB act as shares in Noirbank, what's the purpose of Noirtokens?

Just edited my first post of this thread (#8) to redirect newcomers to the new official thread.

And we're officially back on track!  Grin
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: December 08, 2013, 11:22:40 PM
The main problem is that you can't tell by the live stats when your miner does better.  Undecided
It seems that primes/ sec aren't a reliable measure.

Indeed, "share value per hour" is better, but you find a few 9-chain or a 10-chain and it jumps quite higher, so while it's better it's still unreliable for performance measurement.

How long did you wait? I mine directly to their auto-sell with beeeeer.org, it works, but it takes them a lot of time to process the deposit.

The problem arises from Cryptsy. The same thing happened with my FTC, there was a bug when I posted the trade and the coins just vanished.
I think I got the XPM back though, I'll see if the same happens for my FTC.

Thanks for your input!

Thank you for the info John. I feel a lot better now about buying some coins. It's good to see some of the community members come out. I look forward to Barwizi coming to the forum and to downloading the new client.

No problem. I want to see this coin rise just as much as you!  Grin
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Noirbits TAKEOVER ! Update v2.2.5.0 - fixes sync issue on: December 08, 2013, 04:58:56 AM
I got the message from John122. I'll be looking at the changes and updating the clients on the site tomorrow. If you have any specific links you would like to have included please let me know and I'll add them.

Thanks a lot! Barwizi was working towards including fork-detection and anti-rogue-clients in the following versions.
We would need confirmation from him that's it's indeed in the works before posting it on the website, but that would make good publicity for the coin!
33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Noirbits TAKEOVER ! Update v2.2.5.0 - fixes sync issue on: December 08, 2013, 01:34:08 AM
Can some please answer these technical questions about Noirbits?

  • I am running version 2.25 of the Noirbits client. This is the one created by the guy that forked Noirbits. So now that he has apparently bailed on the project, this version will soon become obsolete, correct? Reading through this thread, it appears that Barwizi is planning an updated client that will block members running the older forked clients.
  • The forked version states that there will be 21 million Noirbits created. The original version said 50 million. Which is it? Will Barwizi continue developing based on the 2.25 version, or will he continue developing from his original version?
  • How many Noirbits exist in total right now? The block explorer is broken (stuck at block 30,000). My client says that there are about 87,000 blocks total which comes out to about 1.8 million coins (Coinmarketcap is stuck at about 600,000 total coins> I assume that it is getting its data from the broken block explorer).
  • I hope that Barwizi has not bailed on this project, but if he has, is there someone with the technical expertise to take it over? I do not have the expertise, but I do know how to build websites, so if we do decide to move the coin forward without Barwizi, I could build us a Drupal site in my sleep. Unlike the previous group, I would make sure that someone else has the "keys" to the site besides just me so that the community would never be locked out.
  • If Barwizi has bailed, I think that we as a community need to start looking ahead to how we will make this coin continue to move forward. We need to come up with universal standards for Noirbits, and we need to have one definitive source of information about the coin. Right now, the credibility of the coin is in tatters because no one cares enough about it to make it what it has the potential to become.
  • Just let me know what you as a community need. I could have us up a Drupal site in days. Drupal has everything that a community would need built-in, including our own forum. I just hate sitting around waiting for someone who might never show up. I am going to also post this in the other Noirbit thread.

I think that it is time for us in the cryptocoin community to demand good leadership. Leaders don't hide. They don't disappear when things get tough, and when the market crashes. They lead. I don't know how to manage Noirbits from a technical standpoint. But I do know how to inspire confidence, I do know how to lead people, and I do know how to build and maintain a website. I hope that this message will inspires others to lead the Noirbits community as well.

I just sent a private message to TheRickTM, asking him to update the website or give the access to someone willing to do it.

And yes, when the new Barwizi-client version comes out, the one you are using will become obsolete.

Anyone knows why my Primecoins don't reach Cryptsy anymore?!
I think I just lost 3-4 XPM... Anyone else having the same issues?
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM]unofficial jhPrimeminer thread on: December 07, 2013, 04:57:38 PM
Anyone with any input? I have access to many different types of processors and will gladly post the results.

You could try adding "-target 9 -bttarget 9" to your config, I've seen an increase with it (well, I think so, it's kinda hard to tell with this coin since there's no "hashrate" per se).
I think it focuses your miner on finding 9-chains instead of 10 since you find a much greater deal of those than 10-chains, and they are still worth a lot.
As for the multiple -m, not sure about this, I've not seen many people use that config before.

A treat from Lab_Rat:  A couple of pictures from the (nearly complete) new datacentre...

PS:  No EXIF for you!

Well milady, that's a nice rack you've got here!  Wink

By the way... Each of those racks have 40A run to them and those split units are 2.5 tons a pop.  This is going to be fun to set up.  Grin

That's nice to hear!  Grin

Thank God! This forum has finally shown signs of life!

Noirbit has the potential to be a fantastic coin. I want to get excited about it, I want to invest in it, and I want to tell people about it. But it frankly looks like no one cares about the coin. There are two Noirbit threads, and it is impossible to tell who is in charge. One site says that there will be 50,000,000 Noirbits, and another one says that there will be 21,000,000. As a casual observer, it looks like this coin has been abandoned (I know better). There is no Linux client. The Windows client does not run in Wine on Linux (I tried, it crashes immediately). Just for everyone's info, Quark coin also has no Linux client, but its Windows client runs beautifully under Wine.

I have a few recommendations that I think will help Noirbit to come back to life:
  • Retire this thread and get a new official thread going, one that has accurate information, and active links.
  • Have one official site that has ACCURATE information about the technicals of the coin.
  • Start a Noirbit community on Reddit (I could not find one).
  • The website is absolutely beautiful, but is has dead links, and it seems to be never updated. If the owner of the website doesn't seem to care about Noirbits, why should we?

These are all very easy fixes, and I think that doing these simple things would help Noirbit to rise to at least 3 to 4 times its current market cap.  If no one replies to this message, I am going to assume that Noirbit is dead, and I'll move on to something else. Thank you all for your time!

True that. At least we have working pools right now, but you are right that we should dump this thread sine the "takeover admin" just bailed on the coin for no apparent reason about 1-2 months ago, and we can't update the first post of the thread anymore.

For the website, first we need to know who owns it because thinking about modifying it...
EDIT: Seems to be TheRickTM. Last active on the forum: October 2, 2013.
39  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: December 05, 2013, 12:32:33 PM
Yes, I failed to discuss this with grnbrg before making the announcement I was looking to offload a few more bonds.

Current outstanding bonds: 57108

With this addition of 7892 bonds it will bring the total issued to 65000.

The reasons behind me issuing extra bonds, I've been wanting to release to the public for quite some time.  I can give limited details on them, but I'm hoping it's enough for now.  There is a very large deal with BitFury in the works as we speak that will add an enormous amount of guaranteed equipment to LRM, but this is only to hold us over for the really big news.  LRM is in the process of getting involved in an ASIC project that started months back.  The project has made it past every test, the only thing that was needed was a little extra funding.  This is something LRM could offer in return for at cost hardware as a result of partial ownership of the company.

This means that LRM should easily cruise past the 100TH club and into the PH range with minimal effort as long as a little extra funding is made available.  At this point selling these extra bonds isn't required to keep the company running, but I'm sure that all of the bondholders want to see this company flourish just as much as I do.  I promised everyone 100MH/s per bond, but what sounds way better than that is 10 or even 100GH/s per bond, which is not out of reach with our own chip.

I'm going to be offering these bonds at what I consider to be a large discount for what I have planned and charge 0.1BTC per bond.  If you are looking to purchase 500+ please contact me directly as I won't charge a fee for purchases, but I agree with grnbrg charging a fee in that this is not his job.  He is offering a great service helping LRM out and taking very little for his time.

Thank you to everyone who has made it possible for LRM to be where it is today.  I can assure you this is still just the beginning.

Awesome!! Thanks for your hard work LabRat!  Grin
40  Economy / Securities / Re: Lab Rat Data Processing, LLC (LabRatMining) Official Announcement on: December 04, 2013, 12:03:58 AM
Thanks John, can you tell me about these deals he made? Point to one time he mentioned, in 110 pages of threads over 5 months, 1) GH/s/BTC, 2) what his fee is? (hint: you won't find it)

From LabRatMining website, about the 2 weeks dividends cut:
Quote
The other 90% would go straight into the hardware that Dave can give me a killer deal on.
Also, this is a private company, which means that LabRat isn't required to tell you anything about the details of the deals he has done. If you're not happy with this, sell your shares.

And if he has been so good at choosing positive ROI investments, how come shares lost 60% of their value since IPO? And if you think that it's just because bitfunder is closed, then there's a great deal for you to make lots of money over at:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=320578.160

The reason the price is so low is because people like you (with FUD) bought shares and are unwise enough to sell below the price they bought them.
