http://www.dn.no/…/politikkSamfunn/2010/09/27/han-vil-legge…

I want to run a witness (spectral).

Also, WTB some steem PM me  Kiss

How much do you want to buy in terms of USD/BTC?

When you do buy, make sure you VEST them immediately to prevent dilution, or if you don't vest make sure you assume a much larger supply of STEEM when pricing.

A couple of BTC, depending on what the lowest price is. PM me offers.

29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why don't the exchanges get together and fork Ripple and use it. on: May 28, 2015, 01:46:21 PM
Exchanges can use BitShares DEX to issue their own IOUs and move their orderbooks onto the blockchain. They basically would become gateways using the decentralized exchange.

Interesting.
In that case they will all have the same orderbook? So the price some asset will be the same on all exchanges in the blockchain?

BitShares lets you trade 2 types of assets: user issued assets and market pegged assets. Each exchange could issue a user issued asset as an IOU for their assets (IOUs are basically what you have when you hold crypto on a centralized exchange) and trade against other exchange's IOUs or market pegged stablecoins like bitUSD, bitCNY, and bitGOLD. On BitShares you can trade any asset against any other asset... but not all of the markets are liquid.

So you might see coinbaseUSD, bitstampUSD, btceDOGE, etc. trading on bitshares. The cool thing about this is that each participant still controls the private keys to their balances, and they can also be sure that the orderbooks aren't being manipulated behind the scenes.

This. BitShares enables KYC/AML compliance for User-Issued Assets (UIAs -> IOUs), and when Exchanges becomes Gateways, liquidity on the decentralized exchange for bitAssets like bitUSD, bitCNY and bitGOLD will go through the roof as a counterparty-risk-free safe haven that grants users who want fiat, derivatives, stocks, etc. all the benefits of crypto.

From the beginning, we were trying to design [Stellar] to be able to reach hundreds of millions of accounts, thousands of transactions. So we’ve stress tested to 100 million accounts and a few hundred transactions per second, and its holding up under those loads.

39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is my crypto decentralized? on: January 11, 2015, 09:51:58 PM
There are already platforms where each node could be run for $30 a year or less, when running at visa levels of transactions.

How can you avoid this?

At 2000 TPS validation costs equals the cost of running server which include 100 MB/sec network connection, a server with 256 GB of ram or more, high availability (redundant backups), DDOS protection, etc.   These kinds of systems can easily cost $5000 / month or more to operate at scale.
40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is my crypto decentralized? on: January 11, 2015, 09:21:24 PM
When BitShares scales to Visa proportions it will cost something like 5000$ a month to run one Delegate, that's already $500 000 a month cost for decentralization. It goes without saying that you can only increase decentralization so much before these costs will prevent you from being competitive. If we go from 100 to 1000 Delegates at that point in time cost will increase from over 5 million dollars a year to over 50 million dollars. Perhaps it will be worth it, perhaps not - what transaction-fees would you tolerate for this increase in decentralization?

There is no either/or situation here, just economic rationality and navigation between brute realities.
