Bitcoin will never be the sole currency just like the internet is not the sole source for news, phones are not the sole way to communicate etc...
How about cryptocurrencies in general? Anything that requires some kind of prior knowledge, 'luck', pre-existing wealth, technological capability etc. will eventually run into the same problem.

If cryptocurrency succeeds as a major financial innovation, bitcoin won't be the only one. In fact, some altcoins with superior features could take over most of the cryptocurrency market in as soon as a year or two. Things move fast, and we're still in the early phases of the rise of cryptocurrency. Ordinary people probably still have plenty of time to get into these investments and grow their wealth.
Ordinary people in the 3rd world? If cryptocurrencies are dependent on technological innovation, the people that are behind, are only going to be left further behind.

...and over half the Bitcoins that will ever exist are already in the hands of such a small amount of people (let's say 1 million?), what would be the repercussions?
As it stands today, a huge chunk of people are left out.

As soon as i read this, i know its another rambling about...."wealth distribution" I dont know about you guys but i'm sick of newbies who spent literally 5 mins thinking and then post up.... a "flaw" they just find. EDIT: I think we should vote for having Newbie section to up their logged in time requirement to 100hrs. This isn't a flaw I just found. I think it's a potentially fundamental flaw. Stop acting like you own the place.

i'm glad you have brought up a question that hasn't been discussed to death. please explain how the current system is anything but making you sick to your stomach then we'll discuss bitcoins
I haven't discussed it to death with anyone. If you already have, why are you joining another discussion about it?

...and over half the Bitcoins that will ever exist are already in the hands of such a small amount of people (let's say 1 million?), what would be the repercussions?
As it stands today, a huge chunk of people are left out.
Those who:
- don't have any money to 'invest' - are without a computer or internet connection - don't know about Bitcoin - can, but are unwilling to buy into Bitcoin for any given reason - are incarcerated, sick, comatose, etc.
The rich can still buy, so they'll never be out of the loop. Besides, they hold value elsewhere which they can always sell for whatever the currency will be.
Forgetting the madness of speculative greed, and just concentrating on those who believe that Bitcoin can one day be the reserve world currency/money-- do you believe that such a disproportion in future wealth is something that's going to be good for humanity?
I always thought that one of the ideas behind Bitcoin would be to somehow 'stick it' to the rich/banks/governments. However, if the best case scenario (or one of them) becomes a reality, the thought of the future disparity makes my stomach turn. As it stands, 1/7000th of the world population already owns 50-60% of the total sum of the future 'money', and most of them are hording.
The possibility of this outcome alone makes Bitcoin the ultimate divider of people and predestines it for failure. The failure can, and most likely will, see it become what it once was-- a niche for a specific type of transaction or completely disappearing, or it will be a failure of humanity on an epic scale.

It might happen today folks.

Bitcoins are going to stabilize in the double digits. It was $13 in January, anything $20-$50 is a good price for a 100%-500% increase. You can't expect huge gains like this to be sustainable.
Using reason, no, you shouldn't. I was speaking to a friend yesterday who was convinced BTC can grow infinitely. A lot of people here are thinking the exact same thing. Mass delusion is what this is.

No problem. Naturally, I'm speculating. Doing exactly the same thing as 99% of all BTC holders.
We're just about all equal in our professionalism at this point.

I will be willing to install your floor for BTC. I also do stairs.
If you're in the area, please let me know here or via PM if you're interested.
Thanks!

Hello, I'm fairly new at all this and after having read the forum for a while I'm still not quite understanding 'walls' and how they disappear or get 'eaten up'. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are there any markings on it?
It looks almost new, granted there are some very minor scuffs-- it is a vintage item. 1 BTC come on folks, grab the bull by the horns!

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, it appears to be glazed ceramic.

So I have this really awesome bull that I sit and look at every day. I'm not a Taurus, and I'm hardly a Bitcoin bull seeing as how I don't even have a single Satoshi. Needless to say, it looks really awesome, but I don't have much attachment to it, and I'd love to sell it to someone for a single BTC. I don't know what it's made out of, but it weighs about 5 lbs and is 21in x 10in. I can ship it to you, or, if you're in the Toronto area, I can deliver it, we can meet, or you can pick it up. Whatever works best. So to all the Bulls out there, please help me make my first BTC and buy it! If you have an actual coin, you could put it between its horns and make it an office or living room centerpiece with a personal significance. I'm not here to scam anyone, and I'm hoping this beats begging. PM me for details if interested. Thanks and good luck to you all.

With these materials, how would you intend to feed and clothe yourself + the family you are protecting (if you don't have children, let's include your elderly parents, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc)? I would think it would be easier to find a quiet place in the world to farm/sharecrop, work, trade, etc. while the various nation-states fight it out.
Back to my original question: where to go in the event of WWIII if one would like to stay out of the crossfire?
Sorry, I should have added that I would take along some basic tools to build and hunt with. I would also look for a place with an abundance of freshwater rivers and lakes and get the hell out of dodge (high density population centers). It wouldn't be a solo effort, but my family is quite small. The goal would be to get as far away from people as possible and live in a completely self-sustaining way. Money of any sort would be completely unnecessary and I imagine Bitcoins would still be inedible at that point. The weapons would be for protection against any chance encounters with 'the bad guys'.
