26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin Die because of global Regulations? on: July 01, 2018, 03:42:39 PM
I don't think it will die. We are talking about global P2P networks. Governments can make as much regulations as they want but they do not have the means to enforce those rules and regulations without investing into a huge "global coin surveillance network" or seriously interfering with basic human rights. The only thing what they can regulate is cashing out for fiat.

I do agree with these. The government wants to regulate it for the security reason. And it will be difficult for them to ban Bitcoin completely. What you said is true, it will cost them so much money regarding this matter.
27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I never sold my First bitcoin. Are you also emotionally bound to bitcoin? on: July 01, 2018, 03:24:04 PM
It has been 2 years that I bought my First bitcoin. I have never been able to sell or trade it. Is it only me who is emotionally binded or does this happened with anyone else?

Also, is it a good thing to be emotionally attached so much to Bitcoins?
There are investors like you who have that kind of attachment to their first investment. We don't have the same way of attachment because I did HODL before but decided to use it to fulfill a dream. But I am happy with my decision. We all have a different way of using or hodling our crypto assets. And I am glad that there are HODLERS.
28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC payments in PHILIPPINES on: July 01, 2018, 02:05:51 PM
You've just visit the philippines? So what country you came from, based on your post history you're a local of philippines, right?
But hey, that's a good thing, if the store is using any other wallet or merchant I guess sending money would take for several minutes unless they used coins.ph and there client as well, so btc/fund will be transfered instantly without waiting of any confirmation.

He is a filipino citizen based on his post history,  some of his post are posted in Local philippines,  maybe OP  is just trolling us haha,  but nice to hear that he paid btc in change of goods,  the bad thing is he lied to readers of His real citizenship.

I thought the same thing. Maybe this is part of an advertisement to Mr. D’s Artisanal Sundries (Sorry if I'm wrong, just a guess base on your previous posts.) but it is nice to know that one Filipino is starting to accept BTC as payment. Maybe others are doing the practice but not declaring it in public. Way to go for Bitcoin. I am sure that cryptocurrency will become a currency that will be used all around the world purchasing products and other kinds of stuff.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook removes/Unbans Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency Ads on: June 30, 2018, 02:21:07 PM
I tried to understand Facebook with their previous decision regarding the ban. They are just considering the majority of their users. We all know that cryptocurrency is not yet known by a 100% of people around the world so this kind of ad is somewhat annoying to them. But I'm glad that Facebook reconsidered. Maybe they are up to something or they know something big that is about to happen in the cryptocurrency world. Okay, I know that I exaggerate it a little but there's a possibility. Let's just wait and see.

31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] [EXCHANGE] Blockchain.io, Your Gateway to the Internet of Value on: June 26, 2018, 02:22:34 PM
It astonished me how determined the devs are. I am a type of investor who takes time to research team members of an ICO first and it's a good thing to realize that your team is unquestionably genuine. Also, your advisors possess experiences in this line of business and I can assume that you have a very influential team. Another good thing about your project is that you are SEC-registered. Regarding the platform, having a vision of the Internet of Value as the next level of development of the Internet is quite impressive. We all know that it is a demand now and in the future. Encrypted cold storage and cryptographic proof of reserves are fundamental when it comes to security and it's an edge that your project maintains.

I also like your way of connecting with the community. You held an airdrop for people who are keen to help you spread the word and get rewarded. To be frank, I even joined the airdrop not just for the reward but also because I understand the project. I followed the official Twitter account and that's where I figured out that your team is active. I am looking forward to more of your updates on the project. Goodluck, team.
32  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin SCAM! on: June 26, 2018, 08:38:03 AM
I was invited by a friend of a friend to invest in Bitcoin last year. He told me that if I invest 5000 in our currency it will be doubled in a month's time. He also promised me that I will get referral fees and override from every person I introduced to Bitcoin and that prices of Bitcoin are expected to increase. To make the story short I did not join because I believe its a pyramiding scam. Truth to be told I did my research on Bitcoin after that and it turn's out that Bitcoin's price was really on rise unfortunately I did not invest at that time. Currently I'm learning more thru this forum and I thank my friend for inviting me here. Just last December I heard from one of my friends that the company they joined was in fact a pyramiding scam and the money they invested in just vanished out of thin air together with the people who invited them. We should be wary of people offering investments and opportunities to us. Do your research. Opportunity comes with risks as well as the rewards. If its too good to be true, it might be a scam. Bitcoin is not a SCAM but there are people who uses Bitcoin to SCAM other people. Good luck to us and more power to Bitcoin!

It happens in any country. Avoid these kind of scheme. Bitcoin is a digital currency and nobody is responsible with your digital asset except you. This is what I always remind to people who ask me about BTC. Never be fooled by anyone claiming that they can double their money. Be smarter and learn new things every day about cryptocurrency. Practice trading.
33  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Criminals and Bitcoin on: June 26, 2018, 08:31:57 AM
I have seen some news regarding hackers, terrorists, and other criminals using bitcoin for illegal trades.
How the police can find about these transactions?
Even if is hard to track illegal transactions, I don't think that Bitcoin can be a danger to society, since the problem is the society and its people.
Since the beginning of the internet this is happening ( the bad people committing crimes)  and no one is willing to shutdown internet because of that, so in that matters Bitcoin should be equivalent. I think those illegal transaction are one of the reasons some governments and the media are trying to depreciate bitcoin, but the problem is not Crypto/blockchain or Bitcoin, is just the society.
Crime is not about Bitcoin. Bitcoin do exist because people want it to exist for it helps lot of people to earn extra income that may help them by providing the needs of their family. Crime may use Bitcoin to do so but its up to people if they are going to believe on the scammers or not. Not all part of intermet is bad or can commit crime it can also help people to know what they want to know. Its just that people uses internet because it is the easiest way to do crime.

Unfortunately, you are right. There are bad people who are using Bitcoin because it will be easy for them to have transactions. But these people are the ones responsible for this act. Bitcoin is Bitcoin and those criminals are criminals. Be more knowledgeable because in this industry you really need sources to survive.
34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Practical is Bitcoin As Payment Service? on: June 26, 2018, 08:21:43 AM
I like Bitcoin but using it as a pasyment yo buy goods and stuffs would be difficlicult. One move of the price of BTC might cost you double or thrice the price of a specific item. Volatility is a big problem to this. Practicality will not be achieved.
35  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW TO protect yourself from Scammers on: June 26, 2018, 06:15:13 AM
I was making a list for my team on how to stay away from Crypto scammers, and thought I would just share it here as well.

Here are the type of Crypto scammers that I have encountered

Type 1. ICO as a SCAM - (More info contributed by: tosindesign)
There are ICOs that are only designed to get your money. Once the ICO is over then the pages are taken off the net and the makers of the ICO disappear with the money. The last case we reported was LoopX, but this is not the only case.

How can you protect yourself?
1. (by: tosindesign) Generally there is no 100% protection here. A good indication for a scam is there is no team mentioned on the website or whitepaper. Although everything is very superficial and promised a lot, but after reading the white paper is not clear how that should be possible.
2. (by: GeckoTrader) One of the best things to do to avoid ICO scamming is to learn and back read all information about that ICO. As they always say " More knowledge is power"
3. (by: GeckoTrader) The team should have been communicating to the community.
4. (by: GeckoTrader) Always they should have an update from their company. If you sense something fishy do not hesitate to ask question from them. In that means you can confirm whether they are legit or just a bunch of scammers.

Type 2. Scammers who sell FAKE COINS (name / coin code is same but coin generating contract is different)
How to protect yourself: Check the contract address of these coins, if it came from the same contract address

Type 3. Social media scammers - Would post like "I will send you 50 ETH if you send me 5"
How to protect yourself: This is an easy one, they all are scammers. Dont even respond.

Type 4: Identity theft scammers - These guys will contact you as CEOs of ICOs or Social celebrities, usually banking upon the names of a famous person
How to protect yourself: Try pinging them from an another ID of theirs (say if scammer pinged you from Telegram, drop them a message over their facebook ID) and ask them to check that message. This would work as a Two-Factor-Authentication for that personality.

Type 5: Malicious code Trojans - Like Wordpress or Chrome plugins, that would use your machine to mine for crypto currencies, using your machine for the same
How to protect yourself: Try not to do plugins or replace them with cloud powered services, OR, Install only trusted plugins, with loads of reviews maybe. I wont be surprised if these trojans take shape of free downloadable games or cracked softwares downloadable for desktop or your mobile.

Type 6: Online Seed Generators (contributed by: tosindesign)
For some wallets (eg the IOTA Wallet) you have to set your own seed. In the case of IOTA, this is an 81-digit password that must consist of uppercase letters and at least one 9. Since some did not want to generate a password themselves, they resorted to online seed generators. These generate you by mouse click an 81-digit seed. However, as it turns out later, a few of these seed generators also stored the generated passwords, The stored seeds were then later used to steal the assets of the investors concerned. You have to know that the seed is something like the master key that allows all credits to be transferred. A thief does not even have to have access to your computer on which the wallet is installed. The seed is enough to access your balance on another computer.

How can you protect yourself?
Never use an online seed generator! When generating an 81-digit seed, all you have to do is push 81 random keys on your keyboard.

Type 7: Phishing website attempts (contributed by: tosindesign)
Scammers would copy exact replica of the websites (wallets, exchanges) and try to get you to login, thereby recording you password. For example, the page Blockchain.info was copied to get the logins. You have to know that Blockchain.info also offers a wallet service where Wallet could save your bitcoins. If Google users searched for “Blockchain info” in some countries, they ran a Google ad that led to Blockchaina.info, a cheat site that has nothing to do with Blockchain.info. The site was a 1: 1 copy of Blockchain.info and was only designed to get login information from users. There are also similar attempts to MyEtherwallet.com and other sites.

How can you protect yourself?
Never click anywhere on a link to a page where you want to log in. The best way is to bookmark the pages and just go over the web pages. In addition, you should always look for the SSL encryption. There will not be a page that stores important data from you and is located at http: //. All pages should now be encrypted SSL and have a https: // domain (although the pages can also be accessed at http: // they will redirect to https: //). The SSL certificates will also show you every browser, for example by a small lock symbol.

Type 9: Used Ledger Nano (contributed by: tosindesign)
At ebay and in other marketplaces there are always offers to buy the Ledger Nano a bit cheaper. This is particularly interesting now, where the Ledger Nano S is sold out and will be available again in one month. There have been cases in the past when users bought a used ledger on ebay and the seed from the ledger was already filled out. Anyone who has not owned a ledger to date will hardly register the difference. Of course, the previous owners have also noted the seed in these cases, which then allows them to get access to the crypto currencies that the new owner stores on the Ledger Nano S.

How can you protect yourself?
If you want to use a hardware wallet like the Ledger Nano S, buy it directly from the manufacturer and make sure that it is still original packed. The enclosed note on which you can write down the seed should never be filled.

Type 10: Airdrops that ask for personal information (contributed by: StarKay)
There are hyped up airdrops that may ask for KYC information, that may end up being used by scammers / hackers.

How to protect yourself:
Think of your personal information as an investment as well. Research who you are giving your information to and why that ICO will need it

Type 11: Identity theft via Social Media - (contributed by: darkangel11)
You have to realize what they want from you. In the end it's always your money, while in the process they may want some personal data, a phone number, whatever they can get into.

How to protect yourself: Never willingly give anything. Don't share your real social media accounts with random people, keep your email addresses to yourself and if you have to use them make sure to have burner emails. What are burners? Not necessarily emails created for every forum and project. Just emails that don't contain your personal data and that you're not using for online shopping, banking and so on.

Please add more below, or share your story.

36  Economy / Speculation / Re: BIG HOPE FOR BITCOIN on: June 26, 2018, 05:53:17 AM
Bitcoin is a crypto currency, all currencies make upward and downward trends from time to time. Bitcoin is and other Crypto currencies are taking over the world economy. See every dip as an opportunity to buy more.
Invest now and smile at moon

There are news about big investors/company are going to invest in crypto. Billions of their money in crypto as they say. So the possibility of BTC reaching ATH is possible. I have hopes too but hoping isn't enough. We must be smart in this industry. Have your own knowledge and filter what you hear and listened to. Be knowledgeable about Bitcoin. It will be a big help when making decisions on when to buy and when to hodl.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anticipation from the future ? on: June 26, 2018, 04:57:41 AM
:)Countries are divided into 3 groups: those who ban bitcoin, those who will regulate it strongly and those who will give complete freedom to development. The second and the third groups us well be satisfied with. This majority. It's enough to survive. Therefore, it is not necessary to look for negative outside of us. ; Smiley Smiley
I think, bitcoin will become more valuable in the second category of countries. because if a country can strongly regulate bitcoin, it can result in bitcoin being more appreciated and better in the future.
Totally agreed with this. When I first heard about the government wants Bitcoin to become regulated, I was skeptical at first but eventually I became one of those who look forward to Bitcoin to become regulated. It will result to stability and like what you said, appreciated and for the better of the future of cryptocurrency.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will banks ever offer bitcoin deposits? on: June 26, 2018, 03:42:30 AM
You know, it's really confusing. Knowing banks hate Bitcoin, admitting Bitcoin deposit is a 50/50 decision. Another thing is banks are centralised. That issue should be discussed first before anything else.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin has no competition on: June 26, 2018, 02:34:21 AM
All those FUDsters that where saying year ago how Bitcoin would fail because another currency would take over get proven wrong year after year. The more time Bticoin is alive, the stronger it gets and the bigger the network effect. Sorry but there will not be a Bitcoin 2.0. Bitcoin will go to 100k+ per coin in the next 5 to 10 years, it will absorb all the value researched in the field if not directly through protocol improvements then through sidechains.

Bitcoin will remain the only solid coin. The only coin that survived for the longest time (other coins can't claim this unless they invent a time machine).
There will be alts that pump really hard and make people millionaires, but no alt is going to surpass Bitcoin's strength and solidity. No coin will get a bigger marketcap. In the long term people holding 21+ BTC will be rewarded by history with rich-tier status for seeing the value in it before most people did. Do not let the FUDsters trick your mind or the trolls try to derrail the excellent job being done by Core devs.

Let's continue then our path towards inevitable triumph.

It's nice reading discussions like this one from the past years up to present. I can tell how Bitcoin evolves in the mind of holders. There were doubts before and when 2017 hits people are changing their thought about it. Fudsters/FUDers are always there, that feeling of missing out won't dissolve as long as there is Bitcoin. And at this times where Bitcoin is ranging from 19k back to 6k, holders are in a tight grip. And your words are also my thought in this year of 2018. Bitcoin will remain as the king of all the crypto. You can observe that once the price of BTC went down, all other cryptos or mostly are also down. They depend on their king's status. No one, so far, surpasses their king. So for now, and for the years ahead, Bitcoin has no competition.
