Canary,

Updating the status of verified messages in your original post like you have done in group 1 and 2 and now in group 4 serves two purposes. Many of us see that post long before we check PM. Once verified we can also stop worrying about it. I had trouble sending a verified message intially because I was a newbie. I'm certain I could do it flawlessly now. However, I don't want to send you a second one lest I just confuse the issue. So I am waiting for you to update the original post for group 3. I know you have a day job. Frankly I don't know how you can handle this load. Keep it up. Thanks.
Well said!
I had so much trouble just not understanding that you could send a verified message from an address without sending a payment...So it jailed me for a week!

The process is really quite trivial after you have done it once. I have been in the tech field for 34 years with degrees from three universities. Still I botched it. Sometimes you just need a little hand holding. Maybe I am too old??? LOL!

Canary, My wife does technical writing. Maybe she could simplify the instructions for the retail crowd! Or maybe you should have kept us newbies in the cage longer than four hours!

Better to ship than to update these posts. I found this from Canary in the group 4 subject

ladies and gents, there won't be any updates for a few hours... i'm shipping batches 2 and 3 atm.

Thanks Canary!

So why does group 4 already have "signed message verified" and "shipping notes" updated and group 3 has nothing? Inquiring minds want to know. ;-)

Canary,

Can you confirm receipt of my funds for two units. Also is the signature I PM'd you OK?

I finally got my private key out of Multibit and into bitcoin-qt and created a signature but without a transaction id. The wallet is still not synchronized. Thanks.

Canary,

Many thanks for all of your efforts. I just sent BTC for 2 units and only put my forum nickname on the label. Were you expecting a shipping address to accompany the payment? If so, should I send another small payment with the info on the label or just PM you? Sorry for all the questions. I just bought my first BTC today. Used Bitinstant and ZipZap to fund my first local wallet. And the payment to you was also a first. What is the label for anyway?

DBOD
label is for you to attach some name/description to an address.

no need to send more payments for shipping, although you are always welcome to buy more units.

you will use the "sign message" feature to send me your shipping info. sign with your sending address for the transaction. how to sign: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195647.msg2291965#msg2291965

Sorry Canary to cause so much trouble. I originally tried to use the bitcoin-qt client for a wallet but after 24 hours it is still not sychronized. I was in a hurry not to get left out of the next group buy so I tried the Multibit client and it worked like a charm. Unfortunately it does not appear to support signing. I'd like to export my private key into bitcoin-qt but the latest version does not appear to support this. There isn't much left in the wallet so exporting it to a wallet on the web would probably not be a big issue. Any other suggestions on how to facilitate authenticating ownership so I can give you my shipping address. Thank you.

And the rest of you people get ordering to get this up to 50! I need some new toys!

30  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Guiminer newbie problem on: May 21, 2013, 09:33:59 PM
I have a Windows 7 machine that I simple want to run the BTC Guild version of guiminer on one core of the CPU.

I have the US-Stratum server selected with the correct user name_1 and default password (tried 123 also)

The mining never seems to start as neither one of my cores usage goes up.

Summary says Connection problem under Speed.

The Console says:

2013-05-21 10:17:08: Running command: poclbm.exe XXXXXX_1:pass@stratum.btcguild.com:3333 --device=0 --platform=0 --verbose -r1

The PC and router firewalls do not show anything being blocked. Any help for a newbie? Thanks.

Oh and yes I know this is not cost effective.

I don't think this is cost effective, but a lot of my hobbies are not! I need another two hours to get out of the newbie forum.

chunkatuff

It is sad that we have to jump through this hoop to get to the forum. You should post shamelessly like me. This is number 5. Now I have 2 hours and 31 minutes to get out of this status. I asked a serious question in this newbie section. I don't think this section lends itself to serious help at the rate people are joining though. My post quickly got pushed of the screen.

I've been running 9 machines for 15 years looking for obscure math solutions. I might as well be hunting for bitcoins. I'll lose less money LOL.
