21  Other / Beginners & Help / How will bitcoin go mainstream with payments malingering for days? on: June 08, 2013, 05:17:03 PM
I was excited about bitcoin a short while ago, but with my bitcoin payments still unprocessed (unconfirmed transactions) I think bitcoin will be a customer service nightmare.  Sure, I could take on a bitcoin payment processor that gives the bitcoins immediately, like bitpay, but then you're dealing with a middle man all over again (PayPal 2.0?)  And what if I have a business model that relies on giving payments back to the customer? What am I going to tell my customer, who's payment is in limbo?  Even with a transaction fee, there is no way to know if your payment will take 1 hour or 2 days to go through.  This would drive the average consumer nuts!

I also noticed that I only have this problem when I send the bitcoins out of my blockchain wallet.  When I sent coins out of coinbase, the transfer took less than an hour.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.  I have heard that satoshi dice makes your transactions slower as well.

Hmm, even when I include a mining fee, my transactions are still taking hours and hours to become confirmed.  Is there a wallet service that would allow me to increase the transaction fee, so as to speed up the transaction?  Would increasing the mining fee even help speed things up?  Thanks.

How do you tell who you received a payment from?
26  Other / Beginners & Help / Hello on: May 27, 2013, 07:34:25 PM
Just want to introduce myself to the forum.  My name is Glenn Gipson, 38 and from New Jersey.  I am an entrepreneur who will be starting some unique bitcoin-based businesses over the next couple of months.  I caught the bitcoin fever a couple of months ago, and I truly believe bitcoin is a revolutionary technology.  I'll be reading and posting as much as I can until I introduce the details of my first bitcoin business plans here.  Even though I am striving to be an entrepreneur, customer service is my day job and my specialty. Thanks for having me!

In the long run BitCoin is a good investment.  BitCoin's many advantages, combined with the fact that online merchants are totally unaware of those advantages for right now, means that BitCoin will rise in value.  Not being able to accept payments from anyone in the world, high credit card fees, credit card merchants shutting down your business on a whim, charge backs....these are all problems that bitcoin solves, but merchants are totally unaware of it.  In fact, I believe the powers that be have a negative PR campaign against bitcoin to slow or stop its adoption.  However, the global economy all but ensures that BitCoin MUST happen on a wide scale, which in turn means that bitcoin's value must rise in the long term as well.

Hi everyone, just joined the forum and this is the only place I can post so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I have designed and produced a new range of Bitcoin related T-shirts and have also come up with an innovative way of selling them.

What I now need is some people in different locations to help me sell them and make a few BTC themselves.

I am particularly interested in hearing from people who are part of large local Bitcoin communities as this will hopefully increase sales.

If you are interested in joining this exciting new venture visit www.bitcoinchecker.com and use the contact details to get in touch.
(e-mail probably best but if you want, you can telephone me and speak to me in person)

This is not a scam. I am a genuine businessman and Bitcoin enthusiast and will be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks

You should consider starting an Affiliate program.

If you're looking to buy bitcoins, then Try BtcQuick, they allow you to buy bitcoins with a Debit or Credit card.

For standard Bank wires I imagine any of the exchanges, like Mt.Gox, would work for you as well.
