I was just curious as to why lately there has been a 3 day gap between live events happening & correspondence being sent from minergain?
Below is a recent example. Block was found on the 7th, and it took 3 days until the 10th for the email notification to be sent.
Sorry about this.  I have not taken the time to dig into this but I am pretty sure that it is sending extra alerts after several days.  I could be wrong but I am pretty sure I received one right away and then other repeat ones later on.  I am kindof swamped with paying work this week but I will check into it next week.

**EDIT** now I did find this site easier for me to understand, https://minergain.com/?btcstats&poolid=-1&hash=71&groupby=1  and it gave me a value of 0.0116072 which is rather close to your "0.01027915"
Glad the minergain.com info worked for you.  It is hard to know the best ways to utilize all the stats minergain.com continues to gather.  Sorry again that your power company is being so nasty...  Have a great weekend and hopefully we get 2 more blocks this weekend so you keep a little more of your ramp down earnings...

No offence, but this isn't really the sort of industry to be in if you are a dummy Smiley You need to understand the principles and that takes a bit of research and understanding.
Every one of us started out with virtually no knowledge, so I disagree with this statement.  You are asking questions and the Kano pool people are great and mostly patient.  I think with all the latest drop in hash and prices, we are all very "on edge" trying to figure out what to do next.  So the biggest thing right now is that there are very few people making money.  If you can get $36 per month cost per S9, you will be one of the few making money.  I know I am paying about 1/2 more for power than if I bought BTC outright.  I am mining because it helps the keep the future of BTC going (thus protecting all my previous mining and purchases).  I also believe there is a strong future in crypto so I am treating it very much like gambling (with better odds - I hope).

You really need to figure out your motivations for mining.  If you want a steady income stream, then Kano is probably not the place to be - especially at our current 45Ph.  But if you can cover your power costs without any blocks in a month (which we will probably see several each month but there is a chance for none) , there is a lot of upside potential not available with the big pools.  We have had some pretty crappy luck for the past 2 months and we have some very lucky months.  All pools run into this, however the big guys will pay you TINY amounts per block found very frequently - so it all evens out quicker due to the volume (often termed variance).  We may have no blocks for a week or more but get paid well for each one found.  And since finding a block is totally random, we can find 3 blocks in a day too with the same big payment for each - thus a lot more return for our investment.

I hope this helps a little.  Every one of us are going through the turmoil of decisions like yours.  You need to figure out your risk tolerance and make decisions from there.  Best of luck with those decisions and I know I will Mine On with Kano!

Lets not let the stresses of the BTC market get to us folks.  Although "technically" correct, I suspect a lot of us small miners think of an extension cord as the typical 14 guage 25 footer...  I think when you are into multiple zeros for your wire gauge, it is a bit more planning than stringing holiday lights...

true. i'm not native english, so extention cord might be the wrong term, but i think in a forum like this we all know what we are talking about, right? Surely you'll need some big cable, but when the distance is not too long, it should be doable. I think it would be terrible to have miners, and not being able to profit their rewards and lower difficulty.

I suspected the language was the case (plus I mess up words all the time) - which was why I felt everyone should just let it slide (and I probably should have skipped the post too).  I totally agree there is lots of upside here.  I also get that it is hard in these times to invest a couple thousand worth of power cable when his house probably has a 200 amp panel with only have a hundred or so amps to spare.  Other than an apology if I overstepped, all I can say is Mine On to those who can!

Hoo-boy! Averages of averages, strategic sampling, etc...

Oh, man, I'm gonna revel in the next nice, long, lime green streak!!!
And as the 5nd drops day by day, our reward per block just keeps going up.  we are going to be rolling in the rewards when our luck turns green!  I too will be here to collect like the other die hard Kano fans!

Oh yes, also overclocking my S9s at 15TH each with modded firmware
that has auto tuner configuration which surprisingly keeps the power consumption down.
Which firmware are you using? I've been tweaking mine too but only about 14.5.

great i see we found another block! the second one in 3 days. I am using only one s9 at 13.5 th/s in this pool and for the most recent block my reward was .00015387. I want to stay in this pool but i am not sure it would be profitable vs other pools as in other pools my block reward is about .00004 per s9 and getting on average of 10 blocks per day so that would be .0004 on average per day per miner. without 4 blocks a day on average I dont see how I can make the same as the other pools i belong to - and i have my s9's spread out as I am participating in 5-6 pools at a time.

am I looking at this wrong? is there higher profits in a small pool or a in a large pool? I get that the rewards are less frequent but larger and the latest reward was close to 4 times what the other pool is paying per block, the difference is the other pool is finding 10+ blocks per day so I am getting more rewards, although smaller. I see this is the 23rd block in the month, if i had been here the entire month, those rewards would be approx the same as about 100 block rewards on the other pool - but in the same time period with the other pool, I might have 230 block rewards. so seems like it is only half as profitable here for me --- at least with 1 miner.

I may need to bring over all my miners to be a larger % to make it worthwhile.
If you had been ramped up, the last block would have been around 0.0008732.  If you want to see what you would have made with your miners, you can plug in your hash rates at https://minergain.com/?btcstats.  I am not sure if minergain is tracking your current pool.  Be aware that I have a bug where the slush blocks are not always subtracting the 2% pool fees but kano always is removing the .9%. The pool fees being subtracted from the block is deep in my monitoring code so a little tricky to find.

So for Kano, a single S9 would have received around 0.0199557, 0.0141996 for slush and 0.0150200 for viabtc.  After removing some additional fees for slush due to my bug (and viabtc is new, so maybe there too), this month definitely was higher.  Obviously the small pool allows us to be much higher and much lower in a month.  Fortunately we are nowhere near as small as we were 6 months ago where we were about 1/4 the size (and really big payouts).

I'm sure not the only one here hosting at cryptoboreas, probably another thread on this topic but they shut down and landlord holding all miners. Thats where almost all of mine are and thus unable to mine here till this is resolved. By the time that happens, all my miners will be worthless. I know there are a few people with 5+ PH in miners also hosting there, what are we to do? Anyone have any more info or link to thread?
That is terrible!  Was there any sort of contract signed (or maybe an online description that may still be there - or you may have saved)?  I would also be looking for any documentation that proves you own which serial numbers.  Obviously the landlord wants to get their past due rent however they can, so yes, it will be a very difficult process.  How many miners do you have in "limbo" there?

I took a peek at their site which is still up, and they have not even posted that there are issues.  Makes a person wonder...

40F should be fine for the miner, but the power supplies might give you some problems if you have a power outage and they cool off.  About a third of my APW3++ power supplies won't start if they are below about 50F.  On the other end, about 10% start up fine at -10F.  Rest are in-between.  Fortunately I can use those few to generate enough heat to warm up the rest.
I had not thought about the power supplies!  I guess there is always a hair dryer to kick start them if there are troubles!  Thanks much!

I am curious if anyone knows what the minimum temperature should be during the winter to keep S9 miners working well?  Is 40F too low?  I ran two last winter at 50F and they seemed to run ok...

So the S9's dropped again to $499 with PSU.  Hard to know what to make of it all!

Have you tried the Kano pool monitor by Zach Monroe?  https://ckpoolmonitor.zachmonroe.com/

It is web based using your API and you set whatever hash level per machine you desire for notifications.  If one of your machines goes below your desired level, it sends a text message and an email.  I find it to be very useful.  The text message is done by putting in the text email address of your phone (IE, 5555555555@vtext.com for verizon service).
You can also do the same thing with a free account at minergain.com.  The nice part is that you just set a percentage threshold and the system looks at all of your miners automatically - even if there are dead hash boards, different brands, etc.  Zach's seems to need to be set as an actual threshold for every miner and works well if you want specific control per miner.

Discord is much easier than here...  MINE AND GIN ON!
I do like that almost anything can be discussed there...  The one down side is getting behind quickly.  This morning I saw about 250 unread discord messages...  Still have not caught up with that and probably will just scroll through them quickly instead...  I wish it could auto prioritize based on words....  Mine on!

That's pretty cool, hope we see miners migrating from others pools now that Kano worked out the Asicboost thing!

By the way, anyone selling bitmain coupons? Interested in buying 5 or 6 of >$300 value. Please PM if you have some still.
I have a free $100 one that expires at the end of the month.  PM me with your bm info and I'll transfer it.

pretty close to what is on your phone now.  Amazing how technology changes!

I am curious, does anyone use mineral oil or BitCool liquid to cool your miners. If so can you PM me. I have some questions. I am battling heat and without cutting holes into the building I am renting I need other solutions. Thanks in advance.

I've heard there are issues with it eating plastic away.  I worked at Cray Research years ago and we liquid cooled the Cray 3 with Fluorinert (not sure of the spelling).  It was inert to just about everything and supposedly you could even drink it - not that any of us technicians tried it.  It also would not release a chemical cloud if a chip did burn up which I guess also can be a concern if anywhere near your living area.  I have not seen anything specifically about using that chemical, but obviously some pretty high ups did a lot of research years ago.  There are probably lots of other options too now since that was almost 20 years ago - but I see it is still available, so it must still be a viable product.

Note: No notification from discord's block buddy for me.
but minergain sent the alert!  Yeah for a cryptostar double block day!

I'm sure it did!!! Ha!!! I guess I should see if I can get my phone or Tablet hooked up to that. Great service by the way!!!
Thanks much.  Its easy once you sign up for the free account.  Just set your text message "email address"  (phonenumber@vtext.com for example) in the preferences and then select the pool and set how frequently you want the notification via email / text for it.

I've power enough in my shop to run a few miners. No direct Internet connection but there is a wifi hotspot my laptop/netbook can access. What I'm stuck on it how to add a switch or router to connect a couple miners.
One important point to check is the network times.
I just put in a pair of ubiquti airmax powerbeam-ac (https://www.ubnt.com/airmax/powerbeam-ac-gen2/) between my house and a shed.  It is rated for 24km of distance, so my 300 meters is nothing for it.  ping times are pretty much the same in the shed as in my house.  Something to consider if you have $120 to spend per dish.
