21  Economy / Securities / Wasn't ZigGap a scam? on: June 13, 2013, 10:53:10 PM
From what I can tell, the fund ZigGap on Bitfunder was a scam. If so, why is is still listed on Bitfunder's site and more curiously, why are there still trades happening?  Huh
Are some unlucky saps buying it, not realizing it's dead?

23  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] [TAT.VIRTUALMINE] Virtual Mining - Hash Without Hardware! on: June 12, 2013, 10:17:15 AM
Hope I'm not distracting the thread from all the BTC-TE/DMS.MINING talk, it really is quite interesting to see these things get discussed  Smiley
Had to interrupt and bring this up though. I'm not sure how long this has been up (it is the first time I have ever looked at the page) but if you click the link on TAT.VIRTUALMINE's Bitfunder profile page, where he mentions Asicminer's Hashrate charts- http://www.asicminercharts.com/live/
Right up at the tip top of the page, "Sponsored by TAT Investments"!!!!!!!!!!
If this is old news, ignore me. I'm just a poor newb  Embarrassed . But if this is new, Congratulations TAT!!!
Do you prefer to go by TAT? lol
Anyways, the point of my post is to say that it is good to see that you are building your name and reputation up even higher. I have seen (so far Tongue) from looking around on the forums that you seem to have a fair amount of respect for and among the community and often put in a honest, rational opinion. I hope you have a lot of success, and not only because I would be benefiting from it as well lol but because it seems like you deserve it.
24  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Over-Clocking USB Miners on: June 10, 2013, 08:10:05 PM
Is it possible to overclock the ASICMiner USB miners?  I know you can overclock the expensive one to 13GH/S, but what about the USB?

nope you cant overclock then.  The oscillator is a fixed one.

Are you sure about that? According to http://www.asicminer.co/about.html -
"Generation 1: Block Eruptor. 130nm with 6-8J/GH. Each chip's rated frequency is 336MHz at 1.05V. It translates to 336MH/s because it does one hash per cycle. The chips work stable and well at 392MH/s at 1.15V. Further overclocking needs proper handling of heat and power supply."

Isn't the Block Eruptor their USB stick?
If so, it seems they could be overclocked by increasing voltage and good cooling.

Still no reply from Graet? I hope everything is ok.

Has no one thought of this yet? If not they should have.  Shocked
27  Other / Meta / Re: What is the bitcoin address on my profile page for? on: June 03, 2013, 07:48:17 PM
Private? I'm not sure that word exists anymore  Wink

It does when it comes to bitcoins. To be able to spend coins sent to a particular address you need the corresponding "private key". You never ever reveal the private key to anyone and that includes never entering it in any website. If you do you could potentially get robbed.

The opposite of the private key is the public key. You can and do make that public. Derived from that public key is the bitcoin address.

Read up on this stuff at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ . It might save you from loosing money.

I wasn't being literal, but thank you for your concern. And if anyone hasn't read that info please go do that, never let loose of your money =P

I guess if I would have clicked on someone's profile page I would see where it shows it eh? lol
So the box there is strictly for it to show on your profile page then? seems legit

You could always use it to your advantage, when the price looks a little higher than normal sell off a small portion. When the price is looking a little low, use that cash balance to buy back in. You don't have to be a day trader and do crazy math and chart analysis. As long as you are buying back more bitcoins than you sold (and for a cheaper price) you are in good shape. With a little luck you will increase your holdings a good bit with this type of volatility.

32  Other / Meta / What is the bitcoin address on my profile page for? on: June 03, 2013, 06:58:45 PM
Title says it all, but ill expand for the sake of typing and taking up some of this 4 hours lol.
On the profile page among the many things you can fill in, Skype name, ICQ #, blah blah blah; there is a blank for our bitcoin address. Is our address shown publicly somewhere? Is this to make it easy for people to donate to each other? What is the purpose of having the bitcoin address box, especially when we could just put it in our signature?

TL;DR?....Why are you on a forum if you aren't going to read?
33  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Recent BTC price drop on: June 03, 2013, 06:54:03 PM
There was also a huge order (around $7million if I remember correctly) that was trying to hold the price up around $127 (again my memory is hazy.)
Some people that can explain it better than I can (and with a bit of humor) commented about it on reddit, http://redd.it/1fifio
But these big trades happen often i hear, even more towards the beginning of the week/month.

I lurked around for months before feeling the need to post anything, guess I should have made an account when it wasn't needed to take up a username and some server space. =P
I don't think it is bad to have a few measures like this in place, but 4 hours and 5 posts does seem a bit extreme when you just wanted to ask 1 question.
