Can you run Dash miner at 120 Volt using APW3++?

The lower the static pressure the better the ventilation. Better ventilation leads to efficient mining. Efficient mining is necessary to make profit that can return what you had invested.
Methinks folks are talking about 2 very different matters namely, pressure through a miner OR room/building ventilation.

A miner needs high static pressure fans to move the air through them.
Ventilation through a room is entirely different.
OP - which are you confused about?

The thing I am worried about is burning the miners due to overheating and all those issues. There are some videos on the web from some miners saying it doesn't matter how much air you are mining through the room but what matters is the static pressure. So that is why I am just trying to understand what it is, the concept from the miners point of view and how to accurately do it and take care of it so the miner life increases.
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / How to get mining started on a Dash Miner? For a newbie?? on: November 09, 2017, 04:05:40 AM
Hello...I am a newbie to mining and ordered some Dash in all the hype that has been going on in the last couple months.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to set up a dash miner from scratch?

I have the miners now but I don't have any clue on how they mine...Any and all the help will be greatly appreciated.

'Static pressure' refers to the force (pressure) needed to push air through resistance. Think blowing out air with an open mouth vs blowing the same amount of air through a straw. Takes a lot more effort.

Normal case fans move air through a mostly wide open computer case - easy peasy so can use nice quiet low pressure fans to move a lot of air. Miners are very densely packed with heat sinks and it take a much more powerful fan capable of producing real pressure to move the air and by their nature that means higher speed and LOUD.

Very good analogy...But I still didn't quite get it Embarrassed . Does this mean that the supply side i.e. the cold aisle side should have more air blowing and the exhaust should be less powerful than the supply side?
26  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: How is everyone small+big miners protecting the miners from Surge & Fault? on: November 07, 2017, 08:05:05 PM
How much is that?   Notice there is no price on the schneider electric site..... They want you to hit up sales support.  Also what would be wrong with using a PDU with surge/fuses per outlet?

I think it was around $2000. We had it installed when we had the new panel put in. It has replaceable modules and protects our entire panel. It's something your electrician needs to install. You can see it in this picture just to the right of the main panel between the panel and the door.

We also have breakered and fused PDU's, and we have the entire rig earth grounded to the building steel, but the EBA provides an extra layer of protection for the entire rig.

Is that your farm Conner?  Shocked

Clap Clap Clap

Nice work...Looks very nicely done and it seems like you put in a lot of thoughts to secure yourself from surge and faults...

What kind of fused PDU's are you using?

Are they 30 amps or 20 amps?

Are you using 208 volt or 240 volt?

Line to Line or Line to neutral?

2 pole breakers or 3 pole breakers?

Everyone keeps talking about static pressure in their videos. Can someone explain me how that works when it comes to mining? I searched about it on the web but I am getting confused about what it should be for exhaust and intake and other scientific reasons.
28  Bitcoin / Hardware / Question on voltage & wiring on: November 06, 2017, 07:59:52 PM
I will be powering the S9 with the help of the electrician. The best method to do it is over 205 volt which is what I learned. In a line to line system, the third pin in the top middle is the ground right? There is no neutral? The machine should work with it?
