Btw, if anyone has a use case for BBB then I have a chunk that I'd be prepared to convert at an advantageous rate for buyer, as my immediate plans are about boosting BB uptake with the masses rather than privacy.

Byteball is making great progress as I think this happening due recent bonus all holders will get 2x amount. This coin is looking more promising than ever so it's worth to hold it for long term than it will touch its peak price which will be over $1000

I think more.  Much more.

Where the price are going it is enough to be excited having some bytes in my wallet. It is highest price for any coin which was given to people for free and still is being distributed. It is because of cheating proof formula which caused of healthier and solid growth. Waiting for next round of distribution already.

It will probably drop a bit after the distribution but overall if things end up like the last few distributions we will end up ahead which is awesome!

Agree.  There will be some after the distribution each month that want to move elsewhere for a few weeks and punt on their chances. I looked at that but decided I'd just HODL minus any fiat needs (modest and maybe not needed).  I want to do what I can to make sure that once distribution ends there is incentive to keep it.  There's a chance that it may equal 1Gbyte = 1BTC by year end.  That's a second chance for those that missed the first wave (BTC).  In fact if I get yet another person asking be about BTC I'd say consider BB as it's not the same, but with enough involvement of developers could eclipse ETH and offer similar properties at BTC investment price that is currently at a discount with incentives.

I'll forgo some BB to provide incentive to good developers, and like to think others would contribute 1% or something as well, for a win all around.   We as a community could walk all over ETH (meaning MSFT, JPM, BP etc).....or it could come to nought.

What are your feelings about this?
24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: June 01, 2017, 09:28:45 AM
why to make new assets? how would they be traded ? and where?

I was thinking of trying to get a shell app that runs LINE/Whatsapp etc in it (of no concern or complexity to the user) and parse for commands to send and receive BB or a token on BB on it's wallet, purely on the back of the number of users on those apps already.  It wouldn't have to be a new token other than if it needs a name that suits the target market. I'm not that kind of techie, hence the question.

The app (if a developer can be found) would be paid to create open source for all to take and improve as they like, and the benefit to the rest of us is greater use case and higher value so it has community value for a small sacrifice.  I believe Whatsapp accepts Visa/Mastercard but who here would be interested in engaging with payment processors? (not I, I've had my fill of their shenanigans in conventional business).

I think it could really help spread the word to the $2/day countries that the 1% drop is targeting with the first 100,000,000 adopters.

Question for any BB developers out there:

Would it be possible to create tokens on top of the BB infrastructure like ETH does?

Yeah https://github.com/byteball/byteballcore/wiki/Issuing-assets-on-Byteball
There is no GUI yet but this feature is nicely integrated in BB, you don't need to use a smart-contract to manage the tokens. If you just need a token, BB is better than Ethereum for this.

Music to my ears.  Just got to get the attention of my developer friend who is too busy working for a living to make any real money.

I am not so sure I am wrong in what is or isn't a taxable event. What you are describing is current situation in which many taxable events are not in the radar (that¡s the radar i am talking about) of tax office. Yes, I know you can do as you wish right now and most probably not have any tax issues, but that doesn't mean they weren't taxable events.

When we are talking about rich cyrptocurrencies people they are already cashing out some of their gains into fiat, real state, etc.... so they are already on the radar of the tax office and when you are, you better behave perfectly or you risk some HUGE fines/prison.

It's not the responsability of the exchanges to fill your tax forms. It is your responsability to identify any and all taxable events and declare them properly with or without any help of those exchanges.

Isn't tax only applicable at the point where it is realized into fiat/Gov't money? (give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar). I think this is why Gov'ts are pooping themselves.  If the most tax efficient way to live is to stay in non-gov't money then transactions will be done that way rather than using fiat wherever possible (think of the dual pricing for goods that could develop where taxing profit isn't applicable Smiley   )  Gov't would do everything in its power, and some things that are not, to prevent this from happening, but they think they should be an authority on such matters where really governing and financial interests should be separate concerns (imho).

If fiat gets sucked into this system and the fiat 'money as debt' shrinks, then it would disappear eventually up its own vent hole.  Voila! End of an Empire and someone else gets the reigns.

Would it be possible to send transactions to the wallet via Watsapp, LINE etc?

eg "0.347MB@Joey"  ?

Still catching up on thread so apologies if this has already been pointed out:

The snapshot time is the exact time of the full moon expressed in UTC, and nothing to do with the timezone of the person who takes the snapshot.

Block 465811 is going to be the snapshot block.  We are are waiting a few hours to make sure there are no reorgs, then I'll start distributing bytes tomorrow morning.

Pretty annoying to read "tomorrow morning" on a planet with 24 time zones.
No, it's not. Just look at snapshot time — May 10, 2017 at 21:42 UTC. So "tomorrow morning" — 7-10 UTC, May 11.

With the new formula starting June 9th, anyone prepared to take a guess as to how many remaining distros (range)?

I'm trying to get a feel as to whether I should swap some BTC for BB.
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: May 09, 2017, 04:25:21 AM
The idea of giving 100Kb to the first 100million people could be an unbelievable leg up to BB and other crytpos....if we can make 100Kb worth enough to incentivise people.  That would be an accomplishment the team could actually say they changed the world for the better.

So in one of those ways that being selfish helps others as a side effect, I hope the price continues to do very very well.
32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 29, 2017, 11:20:35 AM
I hope it doesn't pump either, it would be bad for image.  If 1GB is sold at a high price but it is standing on fresh air and nothing supporting it, it will get a bad reputation as P and D.  Gentle growth as use cases come along would make it much more solid.

One more reason why I think another 1% should be put aside for would be developers.  It would be in all our interests.

33  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 29, 2017, 11:05:02 AM
it was a huge amount more than all the other rounds. maybe 7gb per 1 btc or something.

A quick look at my history, it was about 1.5GB per BTC or something close to that.

I also bought some BB but that didn't get accounted for until the next air drop, so maybe the numbers aren't exact.

Poloniex also is currently >$1400.

To previous writer, my small online company accepts BTC, but it has only ever had a handful of trades in BTC.  I'm about to part company with that business partner (lawyer meeting tomorrow), and my replacement company will do it my way (i.e. BTC centric or pay more for fiat), with significant advantages to the customer for being BTC.  Everything I can live on without converting to fiat I will do, and just add BTC for pension day.

I think something like Bitstamp may be a better conservative approach to valuation for now.
35  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looking Forward to 2017 on: April 27, 2017, 03:54:25 PM
I agree in principle, but people coming to the scene need something to compare it to, so I think USD will be a measure for some time to come, even if you never intend to sell back to fiat ever again.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 27, 2017, 11:43:34 AM
I'd vote for upping the dev fund, as it benefits all.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 23, 2017, 04:22:21 PM
I'm a 2011 btc investor and true to the end, although when I saw Byteball I saw an opportunity of letting BTC be the 'storage' of wealth (like gold) while byteball might just fit in with the 'cup of coffee' normal world use, so I have a couple of BTC invested in BB, and curious to see what happens.

I must admit that when the discussion gets too technical I lose focus - just saying what I'm doing, and so far it is looking handsome (unrealised) gains (although I took all my risk out years ago, so I cannot be pushed around by wild market gyrations.  Got a bulldog grip on this one even if beaten with a big stick).

If we could suck up all fiat into various cryptos we could have a lot of disruption (fun) ahead of us.

I don't make predictions, though I have number in my own head, and I will at least say that they are all positive for holders.  Crystal ball I do not have.

38  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitfinex situation - how long will it take? on: April 21, 2017, 04:57:00 AM
I think this is as good an explanation as any:

Tl dr; Any exchange relating to Taiwanese banks (AML standards).  Meaning; This is not a BitFinex issue, but the conventional banking system creaking and being objectionable to any challengers.

You do know that all reporting of money transfers. the US has to be informed, even if sending pesos to bolivar without wishing to use USD?  They force other countries to break their own laws to remain friends with US.  I feel bad for people of the USA, though nothing but contempt for Washington DC.

Anyhow:

39  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitfinex is that much more than other sites? on: April 19, 2017, 02:46:51 PM
It is only USD that this applies to.  Any other currency they accept should work fine.  If you read the Blog on their site it explains what is going on.

In the China case it's a little different, since they can neither withdraw fiat or BTC.

Once these two issues pass, and more particularly scaling is agreed upon, we can resume moon as normal.  I'm interested to see what happens with Seg on litecoin to see if that is any indication of what could be in store.

Layer 2's and SmartRSK will kind of make most of the alts less useful (a couple of years perhaps?) .  ETH looks like it's here to stay, along with some of the more privacy based coins.

Right now I don't see bitfinex to be at a premium, it's just in near stasis while other exchange users are sitting and watching wondering what is happening in the BTC world.
40  Economy / Speculation / Re: War is coming on: April 19, 2017, 12:06:34 PM
I don't see war.  If you've ever met anyone with his kind of personality it would be clear.

Besides, if there was war and millions of people get displaced from their country, having a non National exchange method might not be such a bad thing.

People would donate too.
